Battle of the Vitamin C’s!
Okay y’all, I’ve been trying to find the perfect Vitamin C to add to my routine and it’s been challenging. Since quarantine started, I’ve tried 3 different options from different brands and I’m here to share my review. I’ll start by saying that I’m not completely sold on any of these as a permanent addition so if you have any favourite Vitamin C’s comment below! I’ll add my reviews from least favourite to most... let’s go ✨ 3. THE inkey LIST - Vitamin C Serum 30ml

alettarosierI had the same problem with the inkey list! It’s a very chalky type consistency, but they recommend adding hyraluronic acid to it to make it easier to apply. I don’t have the serum, so the vitamin c is just sitting on my counter 😬

REN Skincare good for environment good for me!
Also snagged this little trail sized kit from REN so I was able to try their beloved Glow line everyone is talking about.... here are my thoughts REN AHA tonic- a fricken godsend for me and my maskne, I use this after my shower at night and after wearing a face mask for 8 hours (hello retail) this just refreshes my skin and keeps my maskne at bay I feel like, I haven’t had as much breakouts pop up as usual and it’s thanks to this baby right here. It’s gentle so I can use it everyday which I love since the strong exfoliant serums I use can only be used twice a week it helps those two days I use it but besides that my skin goes back to normal so love this everyday use one Vitamin C gel cream- I thought this wouldn’t be enough for my dry skin and to be fair it isn’t alone, smells like light light oranges not too strong that the fragrance worries me at all, I use this in the morning and lock in the moisture with an oil or the REN overnight calm balm that’s basically a balm I rub into my hands then put all over my face and feels just like I put a face oil on (I’ll review that in my next one), back to this cream I love it! Smells good and hey it’s a useful cream in the long run so I am considering repurchasing this baby I do like it Overnight spot cream- amazing! Doesn’t smell orangey more natural but still spreads amazingly feels like there are oils in it because there is a bit of a oil residue left behind which I very much love for my dry skin it will drink anything up, I don’t use it alone at night my dry skin I have to use an oil with it in the summer I’m sure it’d be fine alone This whole set I give a 5/5 amazing products and yes I did actually purchase the full size of the overnight spot cream to help my dark acne spots because I did notice a difference, I might repurchase the vitamin c gel cream when I have some money saved up but I definitely will repurchase the gel cream and the tonic when I run out, amazing products. I’m liking REN a lot you guys!
1 month + on Paulas Choice Results
It’s been almost 2 months on Paulas choice and I’ve seen tremendous change on my skin! I’ve been using the same products in my last post consistently since I started, no change to diet or water intake if anything thanks to COVID I’ve gained more than a few pounds and indulged in eating some trashy foods. 😂 With that being said I do have hormonal acne usually a week before my menstrual cycle starts I break out with painful red acne on my chin area, jaw line, neck, and cheek bones BUT i do have to give major thanks to this one product that has made a huge difference in my skin out of all the products I’ve used especially during this outbreak PAULA'S CHOICE - 1% Retinol Treatment with Peptides + Vitamin C Around the time my menstrual cycle starts I switch out my whole night time routine for retinol use every night so I do not develop any painful acne, I use a gentle cleanser beforehand and use a gel moisturizer afterwards to keep my skin hydrated. I will be leaving updated reviews for each item I used in my last post and see what I will be repurchasing. Also please feel free to let me know what worked for you! I would love to try new brands and products. Morning skin care routine !
So I did a nighttime skincare and I’ve now created a morning skincare routine. For some background I have combination but mainly oily skin and am slightly acne prone - mostly during my time of the month. Fragrance does not bother me. I do have extremely large pores of no fault but Mother Nature. Now that the background on ME is done - let’s talk about the skincare that may help YOU. For starters I use the Simple - Kind to Skin Foaming Facial Cleanser . It’s light weight, non clogging, and isn’t that harsh when compared to say - Saint Ives or clean and clean. It foams nicely and gives me a great clean. Next I apply a toner but isn’t necessary, I’ve been trying to not use it as much but when I do - use a toner of your choice. After, I apply the LA ROCHE-POSAY - Pure Vitamin C Face Serum . This is a nice brightening serum which I’ve noticed reduced my pores slightly. Not sure if thats vitamin c’s job - but it’s helped. Note this is water based so it’s ok for oily folks but does have a strong fragrance - which personally I don’t mind. It’s tacky so needs about 5-10 minutes to set so don’t rush to apply sunscreen or make up. After the vitamin c - I apply one last water based moisturizing agent from la roche called LA ROCHE-POSAY - Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum again this is applied ONCE the vitamin c is set. This is also fragranced and tacky so wait another 5-10 minutes before applying sunscreen. Over all - very hydrating if you have dry skin. Then we have eye care. So I’ve been testing the BIOSSANCE - BIOSSANCE Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel this has visibly done nothing for my eyes. Compared to RoC - Retinol Correxion Eye Cream which has reduced my puffiness and dark circles, Biossance has actually reversed it. I am much more puffy and my wrinkles are super visible now. Glad it was only a sample size and not my go too. I recommend ROC. Lastly, I apply a sunscreen. The one I use is also moisturizing calls L'ORÉAL - Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle and Firming Moisturizer . This is Great because it has spf 25 or 30 but it’s very thick. A LITTLE GOES A LONG way. It does leave me a little oily so I will typically suggest a different moisturizer and I will experiment with others in the mean time. All in all this is all drug store, target or amazon purchases and it’s worked for me . Leave me feedback or questions ! I’m happy to answer #cheriepartner #skincare
Invest in good skin care products! AsLA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 50 AOX Daily Antioxidant Face Serum SPF 50 August 06, 2020 Excellent Product Should be more than 5 Stars!! This serum + sunscreen (great bonus!!) goes on smooth and stays nice feeling all day. If my skin, especially around my eyes, starts to feel dry during the day I will lightly pat this around my lower eyes. Stays moist and smooth feeling all day. Love this product! Won't be without it.LA ROCHE-POSAY - Pigmentclar Brightening Deep Cleanser I just picked up this foaming brightening cream and so far so good. I feel with age my skin has definitely lost a lot of its luster. So I’m always happy to try creams/serums- whatever it may be- that help with uneven skin tone. With the first washing my skin already feels softer. If you like cleaning creams or any kind of creams for the matter that are sudsy, then this product is for you.LA ROCHE-POSAY - Pure Vitamin C Face Serum I LOVE this product- I use it primarily on my upper lip line area, both in the morning and evening, and at age 45 VICHY - LiftActiv Serum 10 Supreme With Hyaluronic Acid I have no visible lip lines. The skin on upper lip is very thin, like under eyes, so I decided years ago to use a great eye cream with anti-aging ingredients on the upper lip line, and found this product to do what it actually professes to do, moisturize w/important vitamin c properties, to lessen likelihood of drying. I 100% recommend!clarisonic - Mia Prima Facial Cleansing & Pore Minimizing Skincare Device I love this facial brush!!! After buying a couple of cheap facial brushes, which all broke I finally decided to invest in the best and am so glad that I did. As a SAHM it’s hard to find time for myself and using this brush is like a little spa day. It is gentle enough that I know it’s not damaging my skin but it’s strong enough because my skin feels and looks incredibly clean after I use it. I have oily skin with large pores and my nose/chin area tend to break out. It was easy to sync the facial brush to the Clarisonic app and create a personalized skin care routine. I use the MIA twice a day and it has made a huge difference. I am so excited to buy additional brushes and attachments to make my at home spa day even better. While the cost of the facial brush, additional brushes and attachments are a little high they are absolutely worth it. I am beyond excited to see what my skin looks like after using this brush for over a year. If your on the fence about this brush I highly suggest buying it, you and your skin will love it!MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea I love this spray ! I personally think it's a dupe to the tatcha spray probably even better. I have dry skin and let's just say I spray this after moisturizing/face priming literally locks in the moisture. The best quick fix :)

My Current AM Routine
I feel like my routine is always changing due to purchasing new products to try and review, however here is my current AM routine. HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash (fragrence free) I've only just recently started using this, but I will say I like this one. I find it similar to LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser Holifrog is a little more hydrating since it feels like a lotion than a cleanser. The La Roche cleanser is a good dupe if you need something a little cheaper and at the convince stores. If you have dry skin I highly recommend Holifrog, but if you have normal to oily skin and are just experiencing some sensitivity (like your skin barrier) then I would go with La Roche. COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence (fragrence free) I really enjoy this product because I feel like I am getting a good size value for the price. It also doesn't feel any different than any other HA essence or serum that I've tried (one being a very expensive one). Krave - Great Barrier Relief (fragrence free) This guy is definitely my holy Grail and I have reviewed it before. I use it daily due to my dry skin, but if you have normal to oily skin I definitely recommend having this on hand especially if you like to try new products and if it possibly irritates you or if you over do actives. PETER THOMAS ROTH - Potent-C Vitamin C Power Serum (fragrence free) I've also done a review already on this one. It is very potent and has a stable form of vit C, however unless you are trying to severely even out skin tone or remove dark spots, I would not spend the money. It is definitely pricey (almost $100). If you really need the potency of this product, then go ahead. Otherwise if you are just looking to fix minor issues/use it to go along with your spf, I'd go with a cheaper (still stable) product likeTHE inkey LIST - Vitamin C Serum 30ml(I have not personally tried this inkey list product, but have heard good things about it's ingredients as well as being a reasonable price) FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream (fragrence free) I am really enjoying this new product. It is a step up fromCeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream which I also love for the simplicity and price value, but this one has even more soothing ingredients such as colloidal oatmeal. I like to use this in the morning because it doesn't make my face overly shiny before I head out the door and it also goes well under make up (with a primer of course) #Deoproce - Hyaluronic Cooling Sun Gel spf 50[products]#[FourStars] (NOT fragrence free) I just recently bought this sunscreen and it is my first Korean spf. I love how easily it goes on and it gives me enough glow without looking greasy. My complaint would be that it's not fragrence free, but I'm happy it got me started. Next I'll likely try Krave - The Beet ShieldorTHANK YOU FARMER - Sun Project Water Sun Cream
VITAMINS are a must!
I’ve been using vitamin C products for over 3 years and it’s become one of the most beneficial ingredients to incorporate into my routine. I use pure vitamin C oils or serums and have noticed such a big difference in my skins texture and brightness. These are my fav vitamin C products: OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Serum THE inkey LIST - Vitamin C Serum 30ml OLE HENRIKSEN - C-Rush Vitamin C Gel Moisturizer I started using retinol (vitamin A) about 1.5 years ago and I wish I started in my early 20s! I absolutely love retinol and how well it works for acne prone skin. My blemishes have been SO much more controlled now that I use retinol daily and my skin also looks so much smoother and more even. These are my fav retinol products: THE inkey LIST - Retinol Anti-Aging Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream KNC BEAUTY - All Natural Retinol Infused Eye Mask Niacinamide (vitamin B3) was the last vitamin I started incorporating into my routine and that was about 8 months ago. Niacinamide has quickly become my fav ingredient to use because of the fact that I saw results so quickly! I’ve gotten so many compliments on my skin ever since I started using Niacinamide. My blemishes are all gone, my skin looks smooth and clean, and my skin looks brighter. These are my fav Niacinamide products: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum FIRST AID BEAUTY - Eye Duty Niacinamide Brightening Eye Cream I’m always on the internet trying to find graphs and charts to help me better understand the products and ingredients I use.
Skincare Line-up: Combo Skin Nighttime🌜(simple)
When my skin is already looking and feeling pretty good, I like to simplify my routine a little just to not over compromise my skin barrier. This routine really helps me nourish, treat and target any skin issues without layering too many products. Background info: My skin is combination and acne-prone. It’s also pretty tough so I don’t get irritation from “harsher” actives and ingredients! SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Gel My go-to Hyaluronic Acid serum! It’s my favorite hydrating product because the Hyaluronic Acid seriously plumps up the skin and brings hydration to the surface of the skin. I apply a few drops of this on my palms and press into the skin. SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.5 Retinol Night Cream Retinol! This night cream contains 0.5% pure retinol which helps to promote cell turnover, improves the appearance of lines, wrinkles, discoloration and pores, and reduces breakouts! This particular cream is formulated with a Soothing Complex that calms the skin with Bisabolol and Boswellia Serrata Extract which soothes and comforts the skin. I apply two pea-size amounts on my finger tips, rub them together and press into my skin (focusing on problem areas). THE inkey LIST - Brighten-i Eye Cream Eye cream is one of those things that I have a love/hate relationship with. It’s undecided if I really see a difference as technically my serums and moisturizers should do the same thing- but I recently started using this one from the Inkey List that has brightening properties. I haven’t seen much brightening yet but it has a very lightweight, hydrating formula that I like. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi To lock in all the active ingredients in my toners and serums, I love this cream from Youth To The People because it feels thick and nourishing. The key ingredients in this cream include Squalane, Ashwagandha, and Fermented Reishi which together helps boost skin hydration, minimizes risk of clogged pores, reduces visible signs of fatigue and detoxifies and combats signs of aging. THE inkey LIST - Rosehip Oil Rosehip Oil is one of the most nourishing antioxidant oils. This 100% pure rosehip oil helps to promote softer, smoother skin and the fatty acids help to nourish. I use this as my last step to seal in all my products because it’s so emollient. It always leaves my skin GLOWING✨

Skincare Line-up: Combo Skin Daytime ✨ (simple!)
When it comes to skincare, I probably have the most high-maintenance routines. But on some days, I do like to pare down my routine to just the “essentials”- especially when my skin is looking and feeling pretty good. I feel like this routine just covers all my bases by adding hydration, protection from free radicals with antioxidants, moisturizes, brightens and protects sun damage! 🤩 Background info on my skin: I have combination skin and am definitely acne-prone! My skin is pretty tough so it doesn’t get irritated easily by “harsher” ingredients and actives. SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum My favorite Vitamin C/antioxidant serum! It brightens the skin, and boosts the performance of my sunscreen so I make sure to incorporate it into my routine every morning! This formula also includes L-ascorbic acid which is a rich antioxidant ingredient that neutralizes free radicals and protects against oxidative stressors, and Ferulic Acid which has similar benefits, enhances antioxidants and stabilizes the Vitamins C & E. THE inkey LIST - Brighten-i Eye Cream Eye cream is one of those things that I have a love/hate relationship with. SKINCEUTICALS - Physical Fusion Uv Defense SPF 50 One of the greatest sunscreens I’ve ever used. This is super lightweight and feels like nothing when you have it on the skin- it’s the only sunscreen I can get my boyfriend to wear! It has 100% mineral filters that provides UVA/UVB protection and adds a natural glow to the skin.

SKINCARE LINE-UP: RETINOL NIGHT
It’s retinol night! So these products I have grouped together to give me the best results with retinol and prevent any irritation! Background info: I have combination skin that is sometimes dehydrated. My skin is also very tolerant of active ingredients. SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum My favorite Vitamin C/antioxidant serum! I apply two pea-size amounts on my finger tips, rub them together and press into my skin (focusing on problem areas). VINTNER'S DAUGHTER - Active Botanical Serum This is a powerhouse serum full of botanical oils and extracts that really help the skin. There’s a full list of ingredients on their website but this serum basically heals, balances, fights free-radicals with antioxidants, strengthens with ceramides, nourishes with fatty acids and brightens with vitamins to renew, repair, protect and tone skin. Like what else could I ask for?! I use their push/press method to apply! PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster When my skin needs an additional boost I like to mix a tiny bit of this booster into my moisturizer (the next step). Azelaic Acid is amazing for gently exfoliating the skin, unclogging pores and refining skin’s surface.
PAULA'S CHOICE-10% Azelaic Acid Booster
It’s 👻 Democracy for you today. These products have instantly made a place in my skincare routine because all of these products are so so good. It’s hard to choose my favorite but if I had to choose it would be the Gentle Exfoliating Daily Cleanser. I like a cleanser that’s gentle but also has an extra something. And this is the one. It contains glycolic acid, mandelic acid, willow bark extract, Niacinamide, camellia leaf extract among other. It gently cleanses and exfoliates the skin without leaving the stripping feeling. My skin feels cleans yet hydrated enough. I have been reaching out to this cleanser a lot lately and I absolutely love it. The Clean Lightweight Daily Face Moisturizer has an incredible texture. As mentioned super lightweight, but very hydrating and soothing. Doesn't make my skin oily or greasy. Made up of probiotics, niacinamide, oat seed extract, panthenol, green tea leaf extract, aloe leaf juice powder, it's a powerhouse for your skin. A great daily moisturizer. Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide together. That’s music to my ears🤣 I love Niacinamide, I love Hyaluronic Acid; combined I love them even more😍 The Floodgate Hyaluronic Acid Serum is quick-absorbing, lightweight, non-irritating and hydrating serum. Great for everyday use and for all skin types Ghost Democracy is a brand that focuses on ingredients, actives and has set a higher standard of “clean”. You’ll should definitely check them out✨
GHOST DEMOCRACY-Clean Lightweight Daily Face Moisturizer
Ingredient Breakdown: Ceramides
Ceramides are a lipid that already exist in the strateum corneum, the outermost layer of skin. In fact, your skin is made up of around 50% ceramides! Ceramides hold together skin cells, preventing moisture loss and retaining firmness. UV damage and pollution destroy the number and quality of the ceramides in your skin, leading to loss of the supple feeling of skin, decreased visible smoothness, as well as increasing the likelihood of sensitivity and irritation. I love using ceramides to address both my sensitivity issues (hey eczema fam!) and for youth-promotion. For sensitivity, it shouldn’t take long to feel and see results like reduced redness and increased smoothness, but aging skin should expect a wait time of months for fine line and firmness improvement. I have combination skin, so I love these three products for adding ceramides to my routine without being too heavy for my oily forehead and nose, but offering the hydration my dry cheeks and eye areas need! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream has been my favourite moisturizer throughout my super oily pre-niacinamide days and my super dry eczema flare-ups. It is fluffy and easily absorbed, but layers easily with extra hydrating and moisturizing serums. PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum should be in every sensitive, aging, or dry skin routine. It is light but packs a serious moisturizing and soothing punch. I also recommend it to oily/combination folks when using exfoliants or retinol, to help reduce the likelihood of irritation! PAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster is amazing. Everyone should try this, legitimately. Actual hyaluronic acid plus popular sodium hyaluronate offer light, soothing hydration while cholesterol and ceramide help to retain that hydration without oiliness. It’s perfect for treating skin issues like sensitivity, dehydration, and a damaged skin barrier from overexfoliation or retinol.
PAULA'S CHOICE-Hyaluronic Acid Booster
The scoop about Hyaluronic acid...
I feel like we all know what Hyaluronic acid is, but where does it go in your routine? Do you NEED a Hyaluronic acid product in your routine? Read on... Hyaluronic acid was one of those products that for the longest time I thought it wasn’t for me—my skin at the time was quite oily and I thought that by adding hydration in my routine, I would get more breakouts. Well, this isn’t the case at all! I love using an HA serum when I need a little boost or elasticity in my skin. The two products I love with HA as a main ingredient are: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I feel like the most common way we recognize Hyaluronic acid is in serum form. My favorite is from The Ordinary—it is a super lightweight serum that I find best works when applied on wet skin. If I try to use it on dry skin it gets super sticky! It takes about 5-10 mins to soak in (I don’t constantly rub it in—I have sensitive skin so constant contact is not good for me) and doesn’t pill at all. Also, it’s super budget friendly and is available at both Ulta and Sephora so it’s widely available and accessible. It’s a great starter HA for anyone interested in trying it. Another way we see HA is in moisturizers. This is a very important aspect and ingredient to look for in gel moisturizer formulas since many gel formulas are oil free—you’re missing out on key hydration and moisture. The addition of HA in those formulas sets up an experience where you’re not feeling tight or dry throughout the day. My favorite moisturizer with HA is from Youth to the People. It’s super lightweight and absorbs very easily. I usually use a facial oil on top of it to seal it all in. Beware: it smells heavily of kale/earthy scent so if you’re not into that then I wouldn’t recommend it. However, it doesn’t bother me since I expect it now. What’s your favorite HA product? I found these through trial and error with other products and brands!
