Day and Night Acne Patches?!
Day and Night Acne Patches?!
Hey guys! If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know that I love acne patches! So when WKND Cosmetics reached out to me to try their Play and Snooz Pimple Patches, you know I had to say yes! Each pack has 48 12mm patches. They claim to be super absorbent and gentle, while protecting from irritants. They are drug, paraben, sulfate, and cruelty free. Their only ingredient is hydrocolloid! It does state that simple pimple patch works best on whiteheads, and that results may very for other types of pimples. You can use these patches with three easy steps- 1. Clean the affected spot and pat dry. 2. Leave the patch overnight or at least 6 hours. 3. Remove when it turns white and the pus is absorbed! Here’s my honest review- #WKND Cosmetics - Snooz Simple Pimple Patch[products]#[FiveStars] : These are designed for a secure overnight wear. I put on 5 patches before I went to sleep, and woke up with all 5 still on my face! They do have a yellow tint, which stands out on my fair skin (4th picture). They are a good size and covered my pimples completely. These worked absolutely amazing. The patch absorbed all the pus; size and redness of the pimple was significantly reduced. #WKND Cosmetics - Play Simple Pimple Patch[products]#[FiveStars] : These are designed for daytime wear. They claim to be invisible. However, they still have a slight yellow tint and since I’m so pale, the patches are visible on my skin (though less visible than snooz). I will stick to wearing them at night or under my mask! They are still effective, especially at preventing picking during the day. These may be my new favorite acne patches! No other patch has decreased the size and redness of my pimples like these do! I highly recommend that you go check them out. They are available on Amazon as a pair for $29, or individually: $17.99 for Play and $14.99 for Snooz.

Updated PM Routine
Updated PM Routine
Hey guys! I recently posted my updated AM routine, so now it’s time for my updated PM routine! It’s mostly the same products, minus SPF and adding in actives. For reference, I have dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin! 1. *Not pictured* If I wore makeup that day (very rare) or used multiple layers of sunscreen, I use the DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil to double cleanse my skin. Double cleansing provides a deeper clean on days that I need it! ($28 for 6.7oz at Dermstore) 2. VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser : I recently made the switch from CeraVe hydrating cleanser, and I am absolutely loving it! It’s still gentle, but it provides an amazing deep clean! It foams up really well. My skin is so soft and clean after using it. It’s the perfect first step for my routine. I use one pump with my Innerneed silicone face scrubber. ($8.99 for 8oz at Target.) 3. HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion : This hyaluronic acid solution contains 5 different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to penetrate deeply into the skin. It has a gel-like texture. I apply a small amount on damp skin. It leaves my skin feeling plump, hydrated, and glowing. ($15.89 for 8oz on Amazon.) 4. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream : This is the moisturizer that I keep coming back to. I have yet to find one that I like better! It’s very thick and moisturizing. It absorbs best when I apply it while my skin is still damp from the hyaluronic acid lotion. It provides a matte finish and keeps my skin soft & hydrated throughout the day! ($9.99 for 8oz at Target.) 5. Tretinoin 0.1% or PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster : I alternate these products every other night. The Tretinoin is my holy grail product! It was prescribed by my dermatologist for my acne. If you are interested to learn more about Tretinoin, check out my posts “My Tretinoin Journey” and “Derm Prescribed Acne Treatments”. ($10 with insurance) Azelaic acid was also prescribed by my dermatologist to help fade my post-inflammatory erythema (PIE), which is basically post-acne red marks. I already had this product at home, so I’m finishing it up before switching to prescription strength. ($36 for 1oz from Paula’s Choice) Both of these products have helped me so much. My skin is getting clearer and clearer each day!

I use one pump with my Innerneed silicone face scrubber. ($8.99 for 8oz at Target.) 2. ($9.99 for 8oz at Target.) 4. Krave - The Beet Shield : This is my favorite sunscreen! It’s unlike any sunscreen I’ve ever tried. It’s so light, not sticky, and hydrates my skin! I can reapply it throughout the day without feeling like I have a ton of product on my face. This is my one “splurge” product! ($20 for 1.69oz at Kravebeauty.com) Total routine costs: $54.87 Stay tuned for my PM routine!

Tattoo Aftercare
Tattoo Aftercare
Are you getting a tattoo soon? Not sure how to take care of it? Well let me help! Here are my favorite products for tattoo aftercare and how I use them. All of my tattoos have healed beautifully using this method, but always listen to what your tattoo artist tells you! 1. After 2 hours, wash your hands and carefully remove the bandage that your tattoo artist placed. 2. Very gently wash your new tattoo with cold water and mild antibacterial soap. I use Dial Gold Antibacterial hand soap! 3. Carefully rinse soap suds away with cold water, then gently pat the tattoo dry with clean paper towel, or let it air dry. 4. Start with your lotioning regimen. I use Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant . Gently apply a very thin layer of ointment over the tattoo 3 times a day (can be 4 times a day during winter). 5. After 3-4 days, you have the option to switch to an unscented lotion. I use Aveeno - Moisturizing Lotion . 6. Continue your lotioning regimen until all flaking, peeling, and scabbing has naturally sloughed off. This process takes approximately 2-3 weeks. 7. Continue to lotion healed tattoo once a day for life to help prolong the quality of your tattoo! Make sure you don’t- - Apply an excess of ointment or lotion to your healing tattoo. - Pick or scratch your healing tattoo. Let the scabs slough off naturally; they will fall off on their own when they’re fully healed! - Use anything abrasive on healing tattoo, such as a washcloth or loofah. - Swim or submerge your healing tattoo in pools, baths, lakes, rivers, etc. (Do shower normally, but use caution under the direct water stream) - Expose your healing tattoo to direct sunlight. (Once healed, diligent sunscreen use will help prolong the life of your tattoo) I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions ☺️

Derm Prescribed Acne Treatments!
Derm Prescribed Acne Treatments!
Last week I had my third checkup with my dermatologist. I’ve been seeing her for 6 months. My acne has almost completely cleared up, but it’s been replaced by post-inflammatory erythema (PIE). We decided that I will be upping my tretinoin dose from 0.05% to 0.1%. I’m also adding in azelaic acid. I had this PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster already at home, so I will be using it up before starting prescription strength azelaic acid. I use the tretinoin every other night, and the azelaic acid every morning (as tolerated). Here’s a breakdown of these two ingredients! What is Tretinoin? Tretinoin is also known as retinoic acid. It’s the generic name for synthetic vitamin A. It’s sold under many different brand names. Retin-A is one of those brand names, which shouldn’t be confused with retinol. Tretinoin is a prescription-strength topical cream or gel. It’s used mainly to treat acne, sun-damaged skin, and fine wrinkles. Tretinoin is able to speed up the life cycle of skin cells. It makes them divide faster and die faster, so newer, healthier cells can take their place. How do you use Tretinoin? You want to use a pea-size amount of this product. I apply it in dots on my cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead before gently rubbing in the cream. I apply it at the end of my PM routine. How long will it take to see results? My dermatologist said that it takes approximately 6-8 weeks to start seeing results. What is Azelaic Acid? Azelaic acid is a naturally occurring acid found in grains such as barley, wheat, and rye. It has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, which make it effective in the treatment of skin conditions like acne and rosacea. Azelaic acid works to treat acne by: 1) clearing your pores of bacteria that may be causing irritation or breakouts, 2) reducing inflammation so acne becomes less visible, less red, and less irritated, 3) gently encouraging cell turnover so your skin heals more quickly and scarring is minimized. How do you use Azelaic Acid? Apply after cleansing and before moisturizing. Personally I mix it with my moisturizer in the AM, and then finish my routine with SPF! How long will it take to see results? This will depend on if you’re using an OTC product or prescription. It will take approximately 4-12 weeks to start seeing results.

My Tretinoin Journey!
My Tretinoin Journey!
Here’s an overview of my Tretinoin journey! For reference, I have dry, sensitive, and acne prone skin. In June, I went to my first dermatologist appointment. She prescribed #Mylan - Tretinoin 0.025%[products]#[FiveStars] and Clindamycin gel for my acne. The clindamycin gel was applied in the AM, and tretinoin in the PM. For the tret, I started every 3 days for two weeks, every 2 days for two weeks, and then every night as tolerated. I mostly had a mix of pustules and papules on my forehead, chin, and jawline. I experienced mild purging and increased sensitivity after starting the tret. I was able to avoid tretinoin-induced dryness and peeling by using a gentle, hydrating routine. Right after starting, I was already experiencing smoother skin and diminished appearance of pores. My skin started clearing up around the 4-6 week mark. Unfortunately, a couple weeks after that, my acne came back even worse than before. I didn’t know what was causing it so I stopped using all products except for a gentle cleanser, moisturizing cream, and SPF. In September, I had a check up with my dermatologist. We decided to stop the Clindamycin gel since I told her it was irritating my skin and not providing any benefits. She upped my tretinoin dose to 0.05% #Mylan - Tretinoin 0.05%[products]#[FiveStars] . A little warning that isn’t mentioned enough, each time you increase your tretinoin dose, you will experience purging again! It took me about 2 months for my skin to start clearing up. I was really happy with the progress I was making. However, I was experiencing PIE (post inflammatory erythema) that made it look like I still had acne even though it was post-acne red marks. This December, I had another checkup with my derm. After talking with her, we decided to increase my tretinoin dose to the max possible dose #Mylan - Tretinoin 0.1%[products]#[FiveStars] . We also decided to add in azelaic acid to help with the PIE. I am currently experiencing mild purging after increasing the dose, as well as some increased sensitivity. I am using the tret every other night, and the azelaic acid every morning. I had already PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster at home, so I will be using that up before switching to prescription strength. I can’t wait for the day when I have clear skin! Summary- I absolutely LOVE my tretinoin. It makes my skin smooth, diminishes the appearance of pores, and gets rid of acne! It’s like a permanent beauty filter. I highly recommend talking to your derm to see if it’s an appropriate treatment for you!
