What does it do? Aloe
Each year, it seems like the beauty industry picks a “key ingredient” to put in hundreds of products so they can give us an excuse as to why they are upcharging us. It’s been collagen, snail mucin, tea tree oil, hyaluronic acid, CBD, argan oil, coconut, matcha, manuka honey, niacinamide, vitamin C, etc., to name a few. (Did you know Morroccan Oil is just expensive argan oil?) I think it is a good idea to know why those key ingredients are worth making it into the product name or at the very least on to the label. So aloe ... What does it do for the skin? Aloe is full of vitamins — specifically vitamins A, B , C, D and E as well as minerals like magnesium, potassium and zinc. All of these contribute to the healing properties of aloe vera. It reduces irritation causing by the sun or by things that naturally irritate your skin. Once applied to the irritated area, it can help repair your skin’s damaged barrier. NATURAL ISN’T ALWAYS BETTER: Aloe vera comes in a multitude of forms on the market: decolorized aloe, aloe latex, aloe water and the “sap-like” gel. From “Why Aloe Vera Is Controversial Right Now, According to Experts“ on allure.com: “Non-decolorized, whole-leaf aloe extract contains a chemical called aloin, which has been shown to cause cancer in rats.” BUT it isn’t shown to be dangerous unless it is consumed. (No evidence was shown that is carcinogenic when applied topically.) In the same article, Perry Romanowski, cosmetic chemist and cofounder of The Beauty Brains, said: "Aloe vera is a safe ingredient to use in skin products. But this is a great reminder that just because an ingredient is natural, does not mean that it is automatically safe and effective." Now let’s talk about the two products I decided to highlight: 🚿The OLAY - Mist Ultimate Hydration Essence Cooling Face Spray

What I used tonight
So honestly, half of these products are brand new, so I'm not going to rate them, even though I'm seriously enjoying touching my face right now. The other 3 I would or have repurchased. The cleanser was a new product. I just realized I didn't snap a pic of the toner it was THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner . I plan to do a review of the products individually. Make sure you check them out ❤
Products I Bought today
Between my years of trying new products, and being in my mid 30's I seem to have a potion or lotion for everything. I bought these 3 products today because each had been on my radar and, well, tis the season. I have dry skin at the best of times...this time of year we transition into, absolutely freak out from dryness. Each of these products were purchased with that in mind. Soap and glory is a line I have ALWAYS wanted to try. I had been using a pacifica gel formula cleanser, but it was a little much at this point. I wanted a milk cleanser. Cearve I wanted to try for a while, and honestly if it's as good as they say, it's major bang for your buck ( that said, so is the cleanser). The Olay essence, I heard that at my age I should have one...but when I try a COMPLETELY new product, I tend to dip my toe in instead of diving into the deep end. I happened to find it at the grocery store this evening (I was actually there for a teething remedy lol). It was on sale for $8, so I figured, what the hell. I'll give these products a couple weeks then review them ❤
Oh the Hydration!
When it says “hydrating,” oh it’s hydrating I tell you! But seriously, I apply this at night, I go to sleep, I wake up in the morning, and my skin is still incredibly soft! My only qualm with this lotion is the fact that it can be a little sticky for a while. GOLD BOND - Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion with Aloe
This moisturizer is seriously underrated. The Momo Puri Moisture Gel Cream from BCL Company has peach leaf extract, bergamot fruit extract, squalane and hyaluronic acid— Two GREAT hydrating ingredients— and vitamins A, C, and E. It promises to nourish your skin and leave it plumper and bouncier. As a complete grease rag of a human being, I love the light gel consistency. I also love piling on the hydration, which I find is key in combating oiliness. This gel cream transitions well from hotter months to cold— The thinner texture is lightweight enough for the summer and it feels amazing straight out the fridge, but it provides enough moisture to keep dry skin at bay in the winter. I would warn anyone sensitive to fragrance that this does contain a subtle peach scent, but I honestly love it. I got this jar back in June and I’ve barely put a dent in it. A little goes such a long way that I don’t even know when I’ll have to repurchase this. At around $12 USD, this gel cream is definitely worth the price. 5 out of 5, holy grail status for me.
Kiehl’s Basic Moisturizer
Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Cream The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream is a classic product from Kiehl's and one that I've used on and off for many years. It's a basic no frills moisturizer, that doesn't do anything crazy, it just simply hydrates the skin without any junk, parabens, sulfates retinol, actives etc. This cream does contain some oils and while it has not made me break out I've seen some reports that it can aggravate acne. I personally have not had issues with it. I also wish this was packaged in a tube, not an unsanitary jar. See the texture photo - this has a white creamy texture that absorbs quickly. Kiehl's claims this hydrates for 24 hours but I don't think that's true. I'd say this is on the heavy side of lightweight and works well as a morning cream or a night cream if you're oily. This isn't rich enough for me in the winter or for someone with dry skin or who is using a lot of retinols. I feel this leaves me a bit shiny / glowy so if you're looking for a matte finish this is not for you. I've pictured a travel mini here but a full size is 1.7 oz for $32, which is pretty reasonable for a big tub. I give this 4/5 stars. It's definitely an ok product but I have other moisturizers that I prefer. Overall though, this is a solid choice for a basic moisturizer.

Refreshing or Ruining?
🍊So I don’t know about you guys but I used to love Origins. Origins was the first high-end brand I ever used and I used to love them! Love was probably an understatement at the time. With the whole pandemic going on I have been experimenting with my skincare more, trying more products along with going back to old skincare loves!! Also keep in mind I have sensitive, dry, and skin that easily breaks out. 🍊ORIGINS - GinZing Ultra-Hydrating Energy-Boosting Cream this is honestly such a good day cream. The texture of this cream is a gel cream and light-weight!! This product sinks right into your skin and layers super well on top of your skincare! Works super with your sunscreen as well! 🍊ORIGINS - High-Potency Night-a-Mins Resurfacing Cream With Fruit-Derived AHAs also such a good night cream and smells so so good! The texture of this night cream is thick and literally makes your skin glow. I did not see any pilling with this product and works super well with retinols! I think this is such a hydrating cream for someone who has incorporated retinols into their skincare routine because it’s so so hydrating!!! 🍊Do I recommend? Absolutely!!! Let me know if you have tried this product & your thoughts on it in the comments below!!!

PTR’s Cloud cream
PETER THOMAS ROTH - Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream This mini came in a set that I purchased awhile back. I like how quickly my skin absorbs this and how light it feels. You only need a liiittle bit and it’s enough to spread all over your face. It dries fast and leaves a matte finish which is good for summer especially for oily/combo skin! This retails for CA$68 for 48ml...I know, right 😳 There are definitely alot more cheaper moisturizers out there that work similarly so tbh I’d rather save my money! Key Ingredients: - Three molecular sizes of hyaluronic acid (restores skin to make it more hydrated, supple and smooth) - Ceramides (strengthens skin’s barrier and locks in moisture) - ProHyal+ (improves hydration for healthier-looking skin) - Elderberry (antioxidant that soothes skin and fights aging)

This is one of the moisturizers I’m currently loving. It is formulated with 20% Cannabis Sativa Oil (Psychoactive-free) and it claims to ease inflammation, treat , and boost the ’s natural barrier. I fell in love the first time I tried it. I noticed the scent right away and it reminded me of something sweet like candy and I really like it! I saw some people complaining about it but to me, it smells lovely. The texture is creamy and it leaves some sort of white streaks but it goes away after a few massages so I suggest applying by parts in tiny amount. My look refined,my looks moisturized and after application. It absorbs quite fast especially if you use the right amount for your . I did notice my free of for a long time. However, it isn't the first product I'll run to if I need to get rid of s because I usually go for , gel-cream types. I’ll try it next time I breakout though. It has got a long list of great ingients but it is free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

Looking for intense hydration but light texture? This might be for you! These two are a great pair, one for day time and one for night time. There are a few differences between the two; First, the dream cream smells sweet, compared to youth cream which to me smells of cucumbers. Additionally, the youth preserve one feels more runny than the dream cream. Dream cream definitely feels more rich and heavy. At the end, no matter which you’re gonna go with, you’ll end up with a great cream that’ll keep your skin hydrated throughout the day and night❤️ (Gifted)fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer
