Just an update...
Iโm trying to restore the pH of my skin & repair the moisture barrier bc my skin had been overcompensating oil for a while. Then it became very dry, uncomfortable & tight.

soakuptheglowWhen I have a lot of inflammation and irritation, I donโt wash my face in the morning (only in the evening), just rinse with lukewarm water and apply sunscreen. I have very dry skin but that really seems to help me retain moisture.

I live where the sun shines virtually every day!
Therefore, my routine is photo protective. From my morning Vitamin C + antioxidant serums, to my evening gentle acid exfoliants, I have built my skincare routine around anti-aging preventatives. I recently began working topical retinol at low % into my routine and get monthly Y:ag laser facials to stimulate and encourage collagen production.
Iโm about to turn 26, and I am very lucky to have plenty of collagen and few wrinkles. I spent a lot of my early 20s breaking the cardinal rules of anti-aging including smoking cigarettes (Iโve been nicotine free for over a year now!) and skipping SPF most days. I even had a brief bout of tanning booth addiction ๐
Now I use spf products as a daily routine. I was committed to Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 until a girl at Ulta recommended StriVectin - Full Screen SPF 30 Clear Finish which has a lower SPF and similar consistency as Unseen. Iโve also tried the Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40AND Supergoop! - Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40, neither of which I was really crazy about. The gel/primer consistency of both Unseen Sunscreen and the Strivectin spf are more conducive to my skincare routine and they both sink into my skin without leaving a greasy feeling.
Now that I have an office job and wfh, Iโm spending about 10 hours/day staring at two huge computer monitors, so I think Iโll stick with the Strivectin screen that also includes Vitamins A, B, C, and Pro-Vitamin D (?) and claims for protect against UVA/UVB, Blue Light (computer screens), and pollution. Itโs affordable, comfortable to wear, a little goes a long way, and performs well under makeup when Iโm wearing it. The lower spf isnโt a problem for me because Iโm not standing in direct sunlight or anything. I think if I had my previous job working outside everyday Iโd want a higher spf.
Another line of defense I like to fall back on are SPF tinted moisturizers. A while back I had tried the PรR - 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 which is honestly such a dream. This is a photo of me wearing it on a midday walk. Itโs low to medium coverage, buildable, hydrating, and stays put! I donโt have very oily skin or especially dry skin so I feel it is a happy medium for those with normal or combo skin types. By no means is it full coverage. I slap this on (using my fingers to apply) if Iโm planning to go for a walk in the sunshine or on a hike, in addition to my base layer of SPF. Of course, the best preventative is keeping the sun off your face at all costs, so youโll usually see me on the trails with one of my favorite floppy hats, or sometimes if Iโm feeling jazzy - my Bluestone Sunshield (see a few posts back).

I like it but .....
Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 I like it but for me it is very drying, I have combination skin but I am drier than oily, its application is easy, it blends very well, it does not leave white but I do not like it! I'M LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT SUN PROTECTOR FOR MY SKIN

Best skincare combo for flawless makeup
As someone who never skips a day of wearing spf, itโs always important for me to find spfs that work well under makeup. Also important that my spf doesnโt pill on my moisturizer. Luckily I found that this duo looks totally seamless under makeup and causes absolutely no pilling!
GOOD MOLECULES - Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer
So I have had this a bit and never really fell in love with it. It isnโt super moisturizing for my dry skin and found that it was just kind of blah for me. That is until I started using it with the Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 sunscreen. So the moisturizer works as a nice matte-looking base. It doesnโt leave the skin shiny, oily or dewy. It does seems to fill in pores minimally and make my skin look super smooth. The magic happens when you use the supergoop spf on top. The spf is a super dimethicone based spf, and it is totally clear! Like no white cast at all. Looks so smooth on top of the moisturizer and just glides on. The dimethicone helps fill pores even more as well so my skin ends up looking so smooth and ready for makeup application.
Definitely recommend this combo for anyone who wears makeup!
GOOD MOLECULES-Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer
Iโve been trying this travel sized Essential Glow Moisturizer with SPF30 by @paulaschoice the past week. Itโs essentially a moisturizer and a mineral sunscreen combo type product.
.
Itโs unscented and has a light texture. Because of its cream coloured tint, it applies on with a slight cream cast instead of a white cast. However, the cream cast goes away fairly quickly as it gets absorbed into your skin. I notice a very slight sheen upon application, which I guess you could call a bit of โglow,โ but it disappears just like the cream cast. My light face powder applies smoothly on top of this sunscreen, with no pilling. Thereโs also no oil build up during the day, which is always a huge plus for me.
.
I did find that my eyes stung or became itchy every time I washed this off my face, even with tightly closed eyes. My main issue with this product is that I noticed that I started to break out, especially on and around my nose. ๐ฑ Unfortunately, as much as I love PC, this is a no for my skin. Iโll be using the remainder of this Moisturizer in my body ๐. #nowaste.
.
One last thought I have is that I feel like I would get more effective protection using a strict SPF product as opposed to a moisturizer/SPF combo product. What are your thoughts on this?

I love this product and been enjoying using it! Claims to contain 70% water, the formula is incredibly lightweight- feels like putting on a chemical sunscreen๐ฆ It applies really smooth and doesnโt make me extra greasy. Does not cause breakouts or irritate my skin at all, nor sting the eyes. It doesnโt leave whitecast and works well even if I work in a humid environment. I canโt say for sure how well this works under makeup, but it does not pill when I use it with my Elta MD tinted sunscreen. This has also been excellent for my sensitive skin (I started retinoid๐) having no fragrance is a big plus! However, it isn't as moisturising as I would like it to be. But not a big deal! I can always just use a good moisturizer underneath. Overall, I think this is the best kbeauty broad spectrum sunscreen iโve ever tried so far. I can highly recommend! This is a huge win for me! โฃ

๐ Krave Beautyโs the beet shield / beet the sun spf 50+ PA++++: antioxidant, lightweight day fluid formulated with beetroot extract, allantoin, vitamin c, resveratrol, and egcg $20, krave beauty site
- Iโve already talked about this sunscreen on my page and how much I love it. It doesnโt leave a cast, it gives me a glow for a while, and it gives good protection. I have no complaints about it, but I am looking to try more physical sunscreens. (swatched on earlier post)

๐Purito centella green level spf 50 PA ++++: water- based chemical sunscreen infused with centella asiatica extract, glycerin, and niacinamide. $11.99, yesstyle
- This sunscreen also didnโt leave a cast. I canโt use it with a thick moisturizer because it clogs my pores & gives me white heads ๐ so I use it as my am moisturizer & sunscreen which I lovee. The application isnโt as fun as the beet shield bc its thicker but it offers pretty good protection and the price point is better for the size compared to the beet shield.

PURITO-Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+
Sunscreen is a Must. ๐
Korean sunscreens have really changed the game for sunscreens world wide. The formulations really prove how advanced their skincare is compared to others. Iโve never not liked a Korean sunscreen because they donโt leave a white cast, they donโt hurt reefs, and they donโt break me out.
If youโre thinking of making the switch I would totally say go for it! Here are two of my favorites!
Krave - The Beet Shield - this doesnt say sunscreen on it because technically they canโt market it as a sunscreen here in the states because we havenโt approved of their ingredients for sun fighting but it is still a sun screen! This is so lightweight on the skin and gives a night healthy glow without being super oily. Plays well under makeup and Iโve never had any irritation from this formula.
Biorรฉ - Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen SPF50+ - you can buy this sunscreen on amazon and it is VERY similar to the Krave one but you get more and this one does contain fragrance if youโre sensitive to it. This one leaves you hydrated as well without irritation and plays well under makeup.
These two are very similar so if one is easier to get than the other then I would go for the easily accessible. :)

Sunscreen is an important part of the skincare and it can be helpful in treating many skin conditions - it's helpful with pigmentation, acne and ageing.
I've got combo sensitive skin and finding a product that'll match my skin is hard but I got myself some sunscreens lately.
๐ฟMake P
๐ฟKrave Beauty Beet the Sun - I always thought that cleanser or AHA Treatment will be my first purchase from this brand but nope, I needed a sunscreen ASAP that's why I got this one.
๐ฟThe Saem Eco Earth Power Mild Sun Cushion (Over Action Little Rabbit), I literally got it only because of the packaging, I just love bunnies and I wanted to get this series so badly and sun cushion sounded so good.
