The dangers of this popular clay!
First I’ll give you some background info on my skin: I have combination to oily skin with quite a few constant breakouts if I’m not properly caring for my skin. I haven’t had any bad reactions to any skincare product before (aside from some products dehydrating my skin) Pros of this product: Honestly the only pro I can think of for this product (in my experience) is the price. $13 and it would last a very long time considering it only took about half a tablespoon to do my nose, cheeks, and a patch test on my arm (with some left over!) I’ve heard other people speak amazing things about this product so if you’re interested in buying I would say to go for it especially considering you aren’t losing much money if it ends up reacting the way it did on me. CONS: Before I used this product I decided to do a patch test on my forearm to see if I would have any reaction. As you can see on the second picture I attached above, I saw little to no redness on my arm after I took off the clay so I decided to try it on my face. Big mistake 😬. At about the 10 minute mark I started to feel the pulsing in my face (which I’ve heard is normal) and I decided to take it off at the 15 minute mark as it looked dry. I walked passed my mom and she said something about me looking crazy which made me laugh. The second my face moved to laugh I felt a painful burning in my cheeks and nose so I made my way to the bathroom to try and wash it off, OUCH! I felt like my skin was being peeled off and the burning sensation only got worse. Tip if you’re ever in this situation: the only way I could remove it without being brought to tears was taking a towel, soaking the corner with cold water and gently pressing it against my face to soften the clay, then after a few minutes I would GENTLY wipe my face with the wet towel to get the product off. Once that painful mess was finally over I looked up into the mirror and was shocked to see extreme redness that perfectly outlined where I had the product. This redness lasted for AN HOUR! Final thoughts: I will definitely not be using this product again. It also worries me that nothing came up on the patch test but I reacted so severely on my face (if there’s a better place to do a patch test please let me know!) AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay

Ashley0312It’s better to not let the clay completely dry as it’s much easier to wash off when it’s still slightly wet and you shouldn’t have such a harsh reaction.

Ross has it!!
This is so amazing you can feel it sucking the gunk right out of your pores! It’s fun to use it you mix it and apply with a fan brush. It was under $10 at Ross and you know Ross and Marshall’s has all the same stuff too. You don’t have to waste your money on expensive acne masks. This will dry up any pimple almost completely over night, and this size tub will last a VERY long time. I’ve had this a year. I do not use vinegar to mix it. I use water and leave it on only ten minutes. I am absolutely not above starting a self care movement at midnight to give my skin a little TLC before my only day off, tomorrow. I’ll wake up legit glowing. AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay
Hormonal Acne Treatment Carbon Theory
Products I use: AM: 🥞 Step 1: Wash face with Carbon Theory. - Charcoal & Tea Tree Oil Break-Out Control Facial Cleansing Bar - Great for hard pimples/ acne that hurt (can’t go ‘pop’ with a cotton bud). - If you are sensitive to tea tree I do not recommend. Step 2: Tone with Carbon Theory. - Facial Purifying Tonic - This can sting open wounds or burns so be careful. - Has brightened my complexion. (Wait 30 mins then apply ⬇️) Step 3: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - Have not used yet, still making sure I do not have an allergy to the product before I put it on my face! (Wait 30 mins then apply ⬇️) Step 4: Moisturise with Cetaphil - Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30 Unscented - I have been using this for years it absorbs well into the skin, and does not flake or go lumpy when your makeup is applied over the top. I love that it has SPF in it, it also doesn’t have a terrible odour. PM: 💤 Step 1: Either damp face with water & apply sukin - Pink Clay Facial Masque Sensitive 100ml - This is OK I haven’t seen any drastic improvement in my skin but will keep using this as I like pink clay, and I will mention if I see any improvements while using this. OR sukin - Pore Refining Facial Scrub Oil Balancing - I have been using this for a while I like how this feels on the skin, it is not a very harsh scrub. It does help to minimise the pores but not drastically. OR AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay (leave face dry and apply mask with Apple Cider Vinegar) - THIS STUFF IS AMAZING this was recommended to me by a makeup artist, and I love it! It does sting and burn on open wounds/cuts, but it is great for pigmentation (which I have lots of issues with) and helps to even out your complexion, it also “pulsates” and “tingles” and I know it’s doing something good! It does feel a bit uncomfortable with the vinegar at times (makes the eyes run) but it dries out and kills any pimples I have. I recommend using an oil straight after to avoid dehydration as this is a harsh but effective treatment. If left on for too long it can make red marks where the product has been on the face which will eventually go away...😅 OR use Carbon Theory. - Charcoal & Tea Tree Oil Breakout Control Facial Exfoliating Scrub on already damp face. - I do love using this it feels really refreshing, I believe it to be a harsher scrub so I do not use this regularly 1-2 as it can cause break outs if used everyday. Step 2: Wash face with Carbon Theory. - Charcoal & Tea Tree Oil Break-Out Control Facial Cleansing Bar Step 3: Tone with Carbon Theory. - Facial Purifying Tonic (Wait 30 mins then apply ⬇️) Step 5: the Jojoba company - 100% Natural Australian Jojoba Oil - For white heads I ‘pop’ with cotton bud and apply tea tree
AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay this is one of the only genuine products that actually works for my skin. I have oily skin, blackheads, large pores, and occasional pimples. This product sucks all the gunk and oil out of my pores and dries out my pimples. It leaves my face looking very fresh and vibrant.

Glamglow’s Supermud Clearing Treatment
This is one of my all time favorite products to use when my skin starts to break out! I have dryer skin that’s pretty sensitive but still breaks out from time to time. Although Glamglow’s mask is VERY drying, it really does the job well. I truly feel like all the dirt in my pores are sucked out and my skin feels smoother and much cleaner. Since I have dry skin, I always use a hydrating mask after to keep my skin healthy, but if that’s up to your skin type!

My Secret for Treating Pimples
According to dermatologists, there are six types of acne, including blackheads and whiteheads, which are the two noninflammatory and the mildest kinds of acne. The primary type of inflammatory acne is a pimple, which contains no pus inside but is red pits pumping out on the skin. This kind of acne is what I am having the most frequently, especially before my period and when I am confronted with super stress and lack of good sleep, and they usually appear between my eyebrows and around the chin area. Not correctly tend to, they would upgrade to pustules and eventually lead to acne scars, which then would take such a long time to disappear. So we should take action when we spot pimples on our face and here are two products that I truly recommend. · The drying lotion from Mario Badescu MARIO BADESCU - Plastic Bottle Drying Lotion Although it’s named drying lotion, I am using it as an acne treatment. I usually use it before going to bed on a forming pimple and I would wake up with a largely reduced acne. It’s amazing. But do remember you are not supposed to shake the bottle before you use it. Just let it be what it’s like and let the magic heal your pimple over only one night. · Blue tansy from Herbivore HERBIVORE - Blue Tansy Mask It is claimed as an invisible pore resurfacing clarity mask and it helps to cool and smooth the skin. It is truly working. I would usually put on this mask at night when I have pimples that are in the process of forming. It helps reduce inflammation. Besides, it has AHA+BHA inside and the concentration is high so it could effectively exfoliate the skin and improve its texture, at the same time unclog the pores, since clogged pores are the root of any acne. But if you have sensitive skin, you need to be cautious to try this out.

Hey guys 👋 This week on myth busting is a question I recently got from a dm. And that is... do pore strips work? And on top of that, what exactly are they supposed to do? I thought this was a really intriguing question and decided to look into it. The first article I read was an article on allure that interviews different dermatologists on pore strips. According to this article, Sejal Shah, who is a NYC based dermatologist and founder of Smarter Skin Dermatology, compared nose strips, another name for pore strips, to a strong Band-Aid. Basically, all they do it remove surface dirt, grime, and debris. Pore strips can also VERY short termed make pores appear smaller, but the effect goes away in 24-48 hours. Also in this time frame, all the junk that is removed from your skin by the strips will have already been replaced by new junk. For this reason, not only do pore strips not do what they say they will, they also just end up adding to environmental waste, and since the results go away so quickly, people will use them every day leading to irritation and stripped skin. So, what should you do about blackheads? While there aren’t any fool proof ways I could find to truly get rid of them, not picking blackheads certainly helps. So do chemical peels and retinoids, which help to keep your pores clear. By keeping them clear you’re preventing future breakouts and blackheads. That’s it for this week! Please leave a comment below or dm me on Instagram @_sips_tea_ for me to answer your beauty questions AND receive a shout out of your Instagram or Cherie handle. The person who dmed me this asked to stay anonymous however. -Naomi
If you don’t have these already you need them
I want to take some time to tell you all about this amazing product that has honestly helped with my acne so much AVARELLE - Acne Cover Patch these little patches are legit magic! They work to clear up new pimples over night and help recovery time. Let me tell you a little bit about how they work. 🧡Acne patches like this one have an active ingredient called Hydrocolloid which adheres to the skin surrounds the wound and helps keep newly healed skin intact. These patches work to absorb all the fluid in your pimple, pulling out the gross stuff, while protecting the pimple from picking or scratching. It is best to wear these patches at night and see the results in the morning. It works best on whiteheads and already exposed pimples. Unfortunately the results aren’t as great when it comes to cystic acne as it is only a topical treatment. I see results overnight! After wearing them to bed I see dramatic changes in the look of the pimples, they are less inflamed, usually the white head is gone, and it is no longer as raised or red as it was the evening before. 🧡One thing I also LOVE about these patches in particular is they come in a wide range of sizes, there are many different size patches to meet your coverage needs. There are even large 50mm sized patch squares that can cover areas like the cheeks and forehead more effectively if you are dealing with a large breakout, which can even be cut to better cover the area if need be. 🧡Most of these patches are also formulated with other ingredients like Tea Tree Oil, Calendula Oil, and Rosehip Seed Oil, which all have healing and anti inflammatory properties that help heal the breakout even farther. 🧡The last thing that I love about these patches and why I highly recommend them to people is the price point. These patches I bought off of Amazon for around $7.50 and they come with 40 patches. So this is definitely more budget friendly than other products with the same active ingredients. 🧡To summarize I can tell y’all how many times these little guys have saved me from a big painful breakout that is hard to coverup or treat without them. And they are 100% worth the money, this is probably my 3rd-4th purchase of a pack like this over the last couple years. I can’t recommend this enough. ✨As a disclaimer, I acknowledge that everyone’s skin is different and what worked for me doesn’t mean that it will work for everyone. In my reviews I only hope to explain my experience and give my honest opinions on the products, I would never recommend something that at the very least didn’t work for me✨

The Herbivore blue tansy resurfacing clarity mask does just what it claims! It contains one of the best anti-inflammatory/redness ingredients: blue tansy oil. It also features white willow bark (natural BHA)& fruit enzymes (natural AHA) to gently exfoliate, smooth, & resurface the skin. This mask is a weekly solution for acne, redness, congested pores, & dehydrated skin. It is tingly at first, due to the exfoliating properties, & finishes with a soothing refreshment due to the azulene content. It is appropriate for normal, oily, & combination skin types! I would not recommend this mask for sensitive skin. HERBIVORE - Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask #cheriecreator
