Ingredient Spotlight: Propylene Glycol
Surely, we’ve all heard this before: avoid using Propylene Glycol (PEG). Does the alarm make sense? Evidently, no. What is 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐆𝐥𝐲𝐜𝐨𝐥 in skincare? Propylene glycol is in a wide variety of skincare formulas, such as creams, serums, and many other types of personal care products. It has been used for many years. It functions as humectant (helps retain moisture in the skin), penetration enhancer (helps active ingredients penetrate better) and also as a degreaser (helps remove excess sebum in the top layer of skin). Products containing propylene glycol are fine to use for most people. However, those with skin conditions like eczema or dermatitis might be more likely to be sensitive to the ingredient. If you’re planning to use a product with this ingredient, be sure to do a patch test before applying in your whole face. If you developed redness and rash, you’re most likely allergic to it and should stop using it. Please know however, that fear mongering claims that it causes cancer has been debunked by recent studies. My 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 with Propylene Glycol are: • Cure - Natural Aqua Gel

GENTLE EXFOLIATOR FOR SENSITIVE SKIN✨
Product:Cure - Natural Aqua Gel —$38 Key ingredients: -Activated Hydrogen Water -Aloe Leaf Extract: exfoliates for smoother skin -Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract: provides skin firming qualities -Rosemary Leaf Extract: prevents premature aging What is it? Cure is a gentle exfoliator suitable for all skin types—even sensitive skin. It aims to provide smoother, brighter and an even complexion without the use of harsh chemicals. Why exfoliate? Dead skin cells can become trapped or build up on top of the skin causing dull and uneven looking skin. Using an exfoliator 1-2x a week can help speed up the process of shedding off dead skin cells resulting in a more glowy and youthful skin appearance. How to use? To use, first make sure your face is cleansed and completely dry. Use one pump of the product and apply directly to your face. I let it sit on the skin for a minute. Gently rub the product into the skin in a circular motion for another minute and you will begin to see dead skin cells ”bead up”. Gently wash off the product and pat with a dry towel. I use this product 2x a week. Results? The first time I used this product, my skin was left so soft and felt squeaky clean (and not the dry kind of squeaky clean). I couldn’t believe after one use that I could already start to see noticeable results. With continued use, my skin has become softer and I have noticed a more even complexion. I look forward to the days I get to use this exfoliator. Would I repurchase? YES! I love the results I am seeing: softer and more even skin, so why wouldn’t I continue to use!? **lastly, thank you to Cherie for sending this to me because I never would of thought of buying this and now I will definitely be using it as my go to exfoliator 💗
This is a peeling gel 😱 Looks like a cleanser
I got this intriguing product Cure Natural Aqua Gel in @cherie Creator box!! Cure - Natural Aqua Gel At first glance I thought it's a gel cleanser, Then I did some digging and found out it's infact a gentle peeling gel which pumps out as very liquidy gel on hand and when you rub into you skin it strts to peel similar to Wishful Yo glow enzyme scrub!! ✨ ✨WHAT IS IT? Natural Aqua Gel gently catches dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and removes them without using strong acids. It helps skin metabolism function better. There is no need to rub or scrub your skin hard and you will be surprised at how smooth your skin has become. ✨ HOW TO USE: Wash your face as you normally would. Dry off completely. Pump the nozzle 3 to 5 times to obtain the appropriate amount of gel onto your fingertips and apply to the desired area. Leave on skin for a few moments allowing Cure to react with the dead skin cells. Gently massage in a circular motion for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Do not rub too hard. The gel will turn into a milky white color, and beads of dead skin cells can be seen as they are lifted off the skin. Rinse well with water and then follow your regular skincare routine. For best results, use Natural Aqua Gel twice a week. Natural Aqua Gel can be used on other parts of the body such as hands, elbow, neck and knees. ✨ KEY INGREDIENTS: - Activated Hydrogen Water: helps maximize skin's energy conversion rate and has anti-oxidant properties. - Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: preserves moisture and improves skin's resiliency. - Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract: helps prevent blemishes and freckles. It also helps skin retain moisture. - Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract: has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. ✨MY THOUGHTS AND EXPERIENCE: - Unlike other peeling gels it's very gentle on skin - It smells like alcohol so beware of that strong smell - My skin felt a lot smoother and glowy afterwards - It also brightened skin a little bit just with one use - With continued use, it made my skin glow even more and brightened dramatically - This also helped a little bit with existing acne or breakouts - Scars also start to fade a little bit due to exfoliation - The bottle is decently huge so you get a lot of amount for 38$ which should last me for weeks - I think this unique consistency for a peeling gel or physical exfoliator makes this product a stand out! Also, I really appreciate K-beauty products for such technological advancements in skincare formulations. - It's very very gentle on skin and my dkin didn't get irritated at all - I really liked this product and so far I think I'm going to repurchase this 😍✨ ✨ IS IT WORTH 38$: Yes! Absolutely! The results I saw with this are so unique and make it worth the price! It's also a very gentle form of extra step in your cleansing routine!
Skincare 101: Exfoliation Basics
Exfoliation is the best way to slough away debris and dead skin cells that are sitting on top of your skin and can clog your pores. Exfoliation speeds up cell turnover. If done correctly, it leaves you with healthier and happier looking skin, and makes moisturizing and applying actives more effective. There are two types of exfoliators: 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 ~ are body scrubs and products formulated with grainy particles that provide the actual scrubbing sensation. I think the best physical exfoliating method is, still, the use of 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡 — which most of us already have at home. Gentlest of them all, and is even safe to use nightly. Simply dampen the washcloth in warm water, add your cleanser, and rub in small circles beginning at the forehead and working your way down - be sure to use medium pressure. I also love 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐞𝐥𝐬. My favorites are Cure - Natural Aqua Gel and Pyunkang Yul - Pyunkang Yul Peeling Gel . While they don’t exactly fall under the category of physical or chemical exfoliators , I find them innovatively helpful and safe even for sensitive skin. Peeling gels use high acidity ingredients and utilizes a blend of surfactants like dicocodimonium chloride and carbomers that help to bind oils together to attract and remove dead skin. I also enjoy using facial scrubbers like the DERMAFLASH - Dermapore Ultrasonic Pore Extractor & Serum Infuser 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 ~ use acids such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or retinoid to mildly exfoliate deeper the skin. One of the main benefits of chemical exfoliation is that it does not require scrubbing, so it’s less likely to cause major irritation to the skin. I have written about AHAs and BHAs in my recent posts -- do check them out if you’d like to learn more about the ingredients🙈Most results aren’t seen until 4-8 weeks with chemical exfoliators. Some of my favorites are: Neutrogena - Rapid Clear, Stubborn Acne, Daily Leave-On Mask PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream Curology - Curology formula Still not sure how to exfoliate? you can actually use both a chemical and physical exfoliator if you’d like to. I personally find alternately using two types beneficial for me (don’t overdo it!). Skincare is a tough job. It’s best to listen to your skin, try out different methods, and you’ll learn what works best for you eventually❤️

I’ve only used this Overnight Facial Peel from Versed a few times, but let me just tell you about the first time 🤭 this product truly blew my mind!! The morning after I applied The Shortcut, I washed my face and felt this smoothness on my forehead that I hadn’t felt in a long time. My forehead usually has a lot of texture that can be seen especially when my skin gets oily. I had just come back from traveling the day before, which always gives me some forehead congestion. I was really surprised that some of those forehead bumps went away so quickly. Later on my friend complimented my skin so of course I said I probably owe it to this one. The Shortcut has lactic and glycolic acid as well as Vitamin A to gently exfoliate and brighten. You’re supposed to use it at night, skipping the rest of your usual routine and applying it after you cleanse. I was even fine with skipping a moisturizer since it felt pretty moisturizing in itself. If you have dry skin you may want to moisturize after, just listen to how your skin feels. -Dax ❤️
VERSED-THE SHORTCUT Overnight Facial Peel
My special routine for mask.
Many people just put on their mask directly on cleansed skin and I used to do that as well. Not saying that’s wrong, but I find out a better way to make the most use of the mask. Personally, I like to add different products to a traditional routine to boost their efficiency and I am really amazed by this method I came up with mask and I have to say this changed my way to put mask a lot. Step 1: Cleanse and exfoliate—Clarins On-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser It is known to cleanse our skin with nothing leaves on before the mask. I prefer to use an exfoliator to pre-cleanse my face by scrubbing it on first. My concern is acne and oiliness; this scrub cleanser from Clarins is quite gentle yet effective with tiny particles removing dead skin and oil and also easy to wash away. It doesn’t strip my face at all and the orange scent is so refreshing. Step 2: Fav Booster—The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5%+HA This water-like serum contains 5% lactic acid which is an alpha-hydroxy acid(AHA) famous for gentle exfoliation. It is super lightweight and does not hinder the ingredients from the mask at all. I actually experienced brightening the most from it and it is quite mild for me. So I apply this as a serum right before the mask. Step 3: The Main Course--Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask This pink gel mask is so cute and caught my eyes for the first sight. Surprisingly it does work for me. It uses new technology to blend rose stem cells, rose extracts and rose water altogether to address problems like dehydration and dullness. I always store this in the fridge and it gets so cool and quenching that way. With scrub and lactic acid, the nutrients from the mask can be better absorbed and my face looks brighter after washing it away. I use a mask about twice a week, and I apply in this way every single time. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea since we all have different skin types and concerns, but why not letting our products show their full potential when possible?

I work with animals and I love puppy kisses; but, they tend to take my foundation off. I’ve opted to not wearing any foundation at work because I don’t want it to be licked off. Are there any recommendations of products I could use to blur large pores.? The products I’ve tagged I use every morning along with a prescribed Dapsone cream. My pores have gotten significantly smaller but I love having a full makeup look. I’m used to full glam so it is hard for me to cut back at work!

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
