Products Getting Me Through Winter! ❄
Since I can remember I've had oily to combination skin, until this winter. It's been a rough one! My skin has been SO dry, and it's hard to keep up with it. Especially since I'm prone to acne and clogged pores, so I can't use a lot of heavy creams and pore clogging products. These I wouldn't be able to live without this winter! COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence 🐌 I love this essence! This is a Korean product (Korean skin care will always be a hit). And it's made with Snail Mucin, weird right? This contains 96% snail mucin, which has incredible healing and antimicrobial properties. It promotes collagen production and aids in skin regeneration. And it's a top pick for dry skin types because of its amazing ability to hydrate. This has a jelly-like texture and I find myself ALWAYS reaching for this. Most of the claimed benefits do come with time. Another product I'm loving is the DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum 💧This is a serum that came in a DE kit and I really want the full size! This seriously feels like a cold drink of water for your skin. It's lightweight and spreads nicely. It not only has Sodium Hyaluronate, (which is like hyarulonic Acid on steroids) but also Pineapple Ceramide and provitamin B5, an amazing humectant. As well as a lentil/apple/watermelon complex. It's not crazy different from other Hyarulonic Acid serums I've tried, but it's great! I finally got to try the cult favorite DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream . And wow I'm glad I did! This cream does have a few possible pore clogging ingredients so I was afraid to use it, but It's helped my dryness so much! It feels sooo moisturizing and soothing. I love that this is a protein moisturizer that has peptides, growth factors, amino acids, and pygmy waterlily to improve your overall skin health. This is an amazing anti-aging and skin strengthening moisturizer. I love using this it's a great experience. I already reviewed this incredible product, the Glossier. - Balm Dotcom 👄 It's become a staple lip balm for me. It's extremely hydrating and packed with antioxidants and natural emollients. It has Castor Oil, Beeswax, and Lanolin to seal in moisture. It leaves my lips looking sooo hydrated and smooth. It's THE perfect lip balm and I am obsessed. drunk elephant review with fungal acne🐘💗
as someone with fungal acne, buying the same products can be reaaallyyy boring. so this is my review of drunk elephant as someone with fungal acne!! * disclaimer, NONE of these products are fungal acne safe!! use at your own risk * DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser this cleansing balm doesn’t really emulsify when you activate it with water, leaving a really oily feeling😕 and doesn’t remove all my makeup DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample this is a really nice gentle foaming cleanser... and thats pretty much it. DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum i love this serum! its a lovely gel serum that absorbs in quickly and is greak at oil control DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum this serum is a little tricky, i haven’t really noticed a difference in my skin in terms if brightness, i do have a bit of dark spots and they haven’t budged. not to mention this formulation is a rip off of the SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream this is a thicc moisturizer that surprisingly doesn’t leave my oily skin looking greasy af. its a good moisturizer for dry combo skin! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream this moisturizer feels exactly like the lala retro... its just 8 dollars more expensive DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask this mask burns so bad the first 20 seconds but then it settles down. i really havent seen a difference in my skin so DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil ive only used this oil a few times but wow it really makes your skin feel super soft and dewy DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm i love this lip balm but its 16 dollars and the claim are completely false! in conclusion, i wont be repurchasing anymore of drunk elephant products because in reality they are just good products... nothing too special ESPECIALLY for the price. they aslo didn’t want to provide information about the percentage of black employees during the Pull Up Or Shut Up movement so yeah. their aesthetic is cute but ive grown out of this phase 😀 like and save!! xo melanie
Retinol Saves the Day?!? (Maybe saves my skin🧐)
DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream I love this DE retinol! I choose to purchase the smaller size just because it was my first time trying this product from this brand and plus it came with the B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum! I found this product to work very well with my sensitive skin in regard to the reduction of my acne scars and milia. I was first introduced to retinol (vitamin A) approximately a year ago. It's an anti-aging ingredient that helps with skin cell turnover, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, correcting the texture of your skin, and helping the overall appearance of your skin. It's suggested to start using retinol in your early 20s. It can be super strong, so if you're just starting I would start off with using it once a week, to eventually twice a week, and then every other day. I have sensitive skin, so I like to apply a moisturizer before retinol, as a barrier between my skin and the retinol. Apply a pea sized amount (a little bit goes A LONG WAY)! DE recommends using the serum with the retinol, which I did but I didn't find it an absolute necessity. However, it's nice if you want an extra "boost" of hydration. I only use it at night just because it does make your skin sensitive to the sun. That being said, ALWAYS apply an SPF during the day even if you're inside. Although, retinol can be pricy, it lasts a very long time because you do use a small amount. I personally have not tried any drugstore retinols, but will be looking into them. As someone who suffered from acne and milia (still do) this is one product that has helped me A LOT! Remember to always do your research before trying new products. Let me know your fav retinol products!!💕

I realise I am a little late to the party but who has tried the reformulated B-Hydra and thought WOW?! I admit B-Hydra was probably one of my least favourite Drunk Elephant products previously but now I find myself reaching for this daily! I have also been OBSESSED with mixing B-Hydra with Marula oil in the evening and is PERFECT on its own in the daytime! I will tell you all about my double-Marula-ing in a Marula dedicated post but for now lets talk about the differences between the old B-Hydra ‘gel’ and the B-Hydra ‘serum’: 🦋 The first thing to note is that there was a name change from “B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel” to “B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum”. 🦋 The feel and look to me are both different. Some say they cannot tell a difference but I am like Goldilocks when it comes to serums. They can’t be too runny, they can’t be too thick, they must be just right. The old B-Hydra was in my opinion a little too watery for me. The B-Hydra is just right. It has a slightly thicker consistency, and seems to absorb better in the skin. It also looks cloudier than the old B-Hydra. . 🦋 The ingredients had some changes made too. The formulation had Butylene Glycol removed and now contains the following fabulous ingredients: 🦋 Niacinamide: this is a water soluble form of vitamin B3 which helps improve cell turnover, gives antioxidant protection, has antibacterial effects, regulates sebum and controls breakouts. . 🦋 Sodium Hyaluronate: this is a less irritating alternative to hyaluronic acid, and more potent and stable. . 🦋 Wheat Amino Acids: these attract moisture to the skin. 🦋 Hydroxyproline: this is important for collagen synthesis and also inhibits the enzymes responsible for the degradation of collagen and elastin. .

FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry Pros: Worth. Every. Penny. Every time I use this serum my skin just looks so glowy and HEALTHY, which for a person battling a decade of hormonal acne and scarring is a huge feat. You only need one pump for your entire face since it has a true serum consistency, which means a little goes a long way. I love wearing this alone in the morning, or as a primer because it plays so well with all of my makeup and I never have to worry about pilling. It DOES smell like cherries, but actual cherries rather than a synthetic sickly sweet cherry scent. It leaves your face slightly tacky, but not uncomfortably so. The price tag is hefty (in my opinion), but it’s worth every penny. This is a product I see using for years and years to come. #vitaminc #farmacy #cherry #skincare #brightening

Three week update on Drunk Elephant apassioni 🐘 . 🐘 I’ve been using A-Passioni for 3 weeks. When I first started out my skin was already used to a 1% Retinol serum so I just went right in and used 2 nights in a row, and by the 3rd day my skin was red and a little hot and sensitive, so I knew I had to scale it back and phase it in which I was surprised at since I’m used to Retinol. . 🐘 I would advise anyone who starts to use this even if you are tolerant to Retinol go slow and phase yourself into daily use to avoid any reactions. . 🐘 My skin has tolerated it well in the sense I’ve had no breakouts from using it or any peeling it has just been the red, hot and sensitivity. . 🐘 I always wear SPF anyway daily on my skin but anyone who doesn’t I strongly recommend you to because your skin will be more reactive to the sun while using this. . 🐘 combination that works best for me : - A pea size A-Passioni - 1 pump TLC Framboos - 2 pumps B-Hydra - 4 drops Virgin Marula Oil This cocktail is all mixed together then applied to the skin. This caused me no redness, or hot skin or sensitivity. I don’t even feel any tingling on first application either considering I was adding acid into the mix. . 🐘 It’s too soon to see noticeable differences but so far my skin is feeling baby smooth and soft. I love it. . I’m excited to keep using this daily and I can feed back a more detailed review when I have given it a long enough amount of time to truly impact my skin.

Tatcha Violet C Serum
A long pending post of my beloved @tatcha Violet C serum. Having an oily , sensitive and acne prone skin really limits your options . But, I was relieved when I tried this serum after a few other serums in the market that positively broke me out . I could see my skin gladly accepting the goodness that it brought along with it . I know this all sounds dreamy, but for my skin it actually was. It didn’t break me out, kept my skin soft and hydrated till the end of the day and lightened my scars too over a few weeks, yes! . . It has 20% Vitamin C that helps protect the skin and increase surface cell turnover and bring about a natural glow and 10% mild AHAs that help clear the skin by getting rid of gunk and dead cells. . . At $88 , the price point is on the higher end but I would totally recommend it without second thoughts. I use just one long pump of this serum after my toner in my morning routine and would definitely repurchase it again . .
TATCHA-Violet-C Brightening Serum 20% Vitamin C + 10% AHA
I'd rather get coal than Drunk Elephant’s TLC Framboos Glycolic Serum 😳 Unpopular opinion, I know! This product just does not work for me! It is a 12% AHA/BHA night serum that is meant to refine and resurface the skin and leave you texture free. This did the opposite to me. Now, I know there is a purging period with products, but this was 3 months of totally terrible reactions. I got acne where I never have had breakouts before, my skin had never had more texture, and it was so sensitive! Drunk Elephant is such a great, clean brand, and I love so many of there products, but not this. I know this works for others and everyone’s skin is different, but I personally can not recommend this expensive product due to the issues I experienced.
