Here’s how to take care of oily acne-prone skin☺

Melissa
Most of us acne patients suffer from oily skin. Excess sebum produced by our skin may clog pores which eventually leads to acne. In this post, I’d like to share my top tricks in controlling my oily acne-prone skin and hopefully be able to help even at least one of you 🙈☺️⁣ ⁣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐎𝐬: ⁣ ⁣ 1. 𝐃𝐎 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲. This has always worked for me. Sometime before, I tried not washing my face in the AM and it just made me so much oilier during the day resulting in more breakouts. Importantly, remember to wash your face every after workout too. Sweat combined with sebum is a perfect recipe for acne and skin irritation.⁣ ⁣ 𝟐. 𝐃𝐎 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡. Although salicylic acid cleanser helped tremendously in my teenage years, it isn’t necessarily beneficial for me now that my skin is more dehydrated and my skin barrier compromised. Salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide cleansers may still help on days when you’re feeling extra oily but resist using it daily. Use a gentle foaming face wash from Vanicream, Hada Labo, Cerave.⁣ ⁣ 𝟑. 𝐃𝐎 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲. You can have oily skin and dehydrated skin at the same time. Because your face is not hydrated enough, your glands may overcompensate for the lack of moisture by producing more oils. Do not ever skip this step! Your best option is to use an oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturizer like Paula’s Choice Clear Oil-Free Moisturizer, Neutrogena oil-free and hydroboost gel cream, and if you have rosacea too, use procure rosacare gel. ⁣ ⁣ 𝟒. 𝐃𝐎 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. SPF 30+ or up should always be worn especially for oily skin. Unprotected sun exposure can lead to more acne flare-ups. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide mineral sunscreens are your top options. Zinc doesn’t only protect skin but also helps calm irritated skin. My favorites are Elta MD physical and Purito Water, Clinique Broad Spectrum, .. If you like chemical sunscreen better, I highly recommend Eucerin and Sun BUm. ⁣ ⁣ 𝟓. 𝐃𝐎 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. Keratolytic ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid that are available over-the-counter can be your best friends when used properly. It is important to note that when using an active, stick to a minimal skincare routine to reap the best results and use of one acne treatment at a time is a must, especially if you’re just starting out. If you have moderate to severe acne, I would go for Differin Adapalene gel or a retinoid such as Retin-A and Atralin. Retinoids may not only get rid of your acne but also heal and renew your skin in the deeper layers. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓𝐬:⁣ ⁣ 𝟏. 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫-𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞. Over-exfoliating is probably something we’re all once obsessed with. Unfortunately, this habit can only lead us to a damaged skin barrier thus, compromising our skin’s own ability to heal itself. It’s best to limit the use of exfoliating ingredients twice a week when starting or one exfoliating acid/active at a time once a day after your skin has adjusted. ⁣ ⁣ 𝟐. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. I say it all the time, fragrance in skincare is BAD and does nothing good for you. The use of fragrance in cosmeceutical products is unregulated and companies are not required to disclose all components used in their products. The formulation may have a lot of unknown toxic chemicals that can be harmful to you. Without knowing and often initially not externally evident, fragrance can irritate your skin deep down, cause toxic hormonal effects, and may even cause cancer. Fragrance is a NO-NO for everyone and most especially for acne-prone people or those with other skin diseases. I have suffered the consequences of my bad choices myself. Do yourself a favor and ditch your fragrance-containing products too. ⁣ ⁣ 𝟑. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬. Certain types of alcohol such as ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and alcohol denat. are extremely drying and irritating especially to acne-prone skin. ⁣ ⁣ 𝟒. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐮𝐩. Always make sure you wash away all makeup and accumulated dirt on the face before you sleep.⁣ ⁣ 𝟓. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬. Change your pillowcases frequently. I always make sure I sleep on new ones every week. ⁣ ⁣ 𝟔. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞. Picking at your acne can only add dirt and germs to your skin and may cause more issues. Frequently wash your hands if you’re an absent-minded face rubber or cover the pimples with acne patches. ⁣ ⁣ 𝐌𝐲 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐌 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞 (𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐧𝐞-𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞)⁣ 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫 - VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser

I am a huge skincare lover and love to try out ingredients and brands. Check out my collection and my favourite brands and products. Favourite brands: Versed: this is a brand that I have tried many products and they have worked well for me. This is a drug store brand that is mid range. It is cruelty free and eco conscience, going so far as to state the percentage of usage of recycled material and having recycling instructions on their website. My holy grails are VERSED - PHOTOS, PLEASE BRIGHTENING TIGHTENING MASK and VERSED - Doctor's Visit The ordinary: this is a great brand as it is super affordable and it’s cruelty free. The way I like to benefit from this brand is to try out ingredients to see what works for my skin, their serums are my favourite. My holy grail is The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% The Inkey lists: this brand is similar to the ordinary but I think some of their formulas are better. They focus on ingredients that allow me to find the best ingredients for my skin, they are also cruelty free. My holy grail isTHE inkey LIST - Q10 Antioxidant Serum Cosrx:this brand was my introduction to K-beauty and they are very accessible through Amazon ( also cruelty free). They focus on the primary ingredient that is either natural or chemical. My holy grails are COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and #Cosrx - Full Fit Propolis Light Ampoule[products]#[FiveStars] Brands with 1-2 favourite products: First aid beauty: this brand focuses on healing the skin with the incorporation of oats which are amazing. My holy grail isFIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration Glossier: this is a brand started by a beauty editor and are all very aesthetically pleasing and gentle on the skin (cruelty free). My holy grail is Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser Paula’s Choice: this is a great brand that is science driven (cruelty free). My holy grail isPAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 Pyunkang Yul: this is a K-beauty brand that started in a medical clinic and focus on short ingredient lists. My holy grail isPyunkang Yul - Essence Toner Pixi: this is an English brand that has lots of products and lines to target different issues (cruelty free). My holy grail is pixi - Hydrating Milky Mist The body shop: the body shop is a very established brand that has tons of products (cruelty free), I love their masks in particular. My holy grail isTHE BODY SHOP - Tea Tree Face Mask Niod: this brand has the same parent company as the ordinary but it is the more expensive and technologically advanced. I love that they are pushing the bounds of skincare (cruelty free). My holy grail is NIOD - Modulating Glucosides

Soothing and brightening morning routine
I like to mix up my routine depending on what my skin is needing. This is what I call my soothing and brightening routine as I have a few brightening and deeply hydrating products in this routine. I like to keep my morning routine gentle and hydrating and I use most of my actives in my evening routines (vitamin C is the exception to the rule)! Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser This is my go to gentle and hydrating morning cleanser Pyunkang Yul - Essence Toner This is a very popular Korean essence founded out of a Medicinal clinic and focus on a minimal ingredient list. COSRX - Full Fit Propolis Light Ampoule I love this light and soothing serum, my skin responses very well to bee products The Ordinary - Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F This is a very effective vitamin c derivative serums. It has brightened my skin and there are none of the stinging side effect of full vitamin c. VERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream This is a gel/cream that is light with mild colour corrective properties Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 My go to moisturizer with spf for days I am mostly inside. I use a very liberal amount but I am never greasy. On days I have time (usually Saturday 😃) I like to double mask with: VERSED - PHOTOS, PLEASE BRIGHTENING TIGHTENING MASK This is a Kaolin clay and turmeric mask that I use on my forehead, nose and chin. It never dries me out and the antioxidant properties are great. And VERSED - LOOK ALIVE Hydrating Plumping Mask This gel mask is so hydrating on my cheeks!

Budget Foam Cleansers for Sensitive Skin🌿
⁣We all know it, when it comes to fae washes for acne-prone skin, the gentler the better. People who suffer from acne have inherently inflamed and sensitized skin, which means we need to treat it gently and load it up with moisture to avoid more breakouts. ⁣ ⁣ In this post, I’d like to share my top two budget-friendly cleansers (both under $10) that I find work best for my skin.⁣ _____________________________________ ⁣ VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser Vanicream Liquid Basic Cleansing Facial Cleanser helps remove makeup and excess skin oils without drying your skin. It is free of dyes, lanolin, masking fragrance, parabens, formaldehyde, and other preservatives.⁣ ⁣ Awesome gentle and effective cleanser for oily/combo & sensitive skin. This cleanser does what it says. Works as intended and does not strip my damaged skin barrier. Instead, leaves it balanced, and calm. Has a minimal ingredients list and one pump will foam enough for the whole face. This bottle lasts me about 4-5 months with regular use. ⁣ 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞: $8.99 for 8oz ⁣ ⁣ 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Purified Water, Glycerin, Coco-Glucoside, Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate, Acrylates Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Mica, Sodium Chloride, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Titanium Dioxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium Edta⁣ ⁣___________________________________ HADALABO - Deep Moisturizing Whip Foam Reliable and no-nonsense -- Hada Labo has been one of my top brands for years, especially as I'm someone who is constantly searching for budget-friendly products with top knotch formulations. Aside from their iconic Hyaluronic Lotion Moist, I have also really enjoyed their Foaming Cleanser. This no-fuss cleanser features a watery texture and self-foaming pump that delivers just the right amount of foamy cleanser. I definitely expected this to be drying even for my oily skin at first but I think a lot would agree this is a lil more hydrating compared to other foaming face washes. With that said however, I would always just recommend this for normal to oily skin. It may be less ideal or sometimes can still be harsh for those with dry skin. If you have oily skin and suffer from acne, definitely pick this up! ⁣ 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞: $9.99 for 160ml⁣ ⁣ 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Water, PEG-8, Butylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, TEA-Cocoyl Alaninate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Glycerin, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate, Methylparaben, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Starch Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Succinic Acid.

THE ORDINARY HAUL UPDATE
the products I have purchased have been amazing, I'm absolutely in love my morning routine now is cleanse with squalaneThe Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser apply TO The Ordinary - Amino Acids + B5 then moisturize with CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream and what I forgot to put in my first post, I finish off with sun bum - Face Lotion SPF 50 before my makeup evening, cleanse again, use the The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution(please don't use if you have sensitive skin) my skin is used to retinoids from previous attempts at fixing my skin, and this product leaves me feeling clean, but sensitive skin can have a very different reaction then I mix together The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5withThe Ordinary - 100% Niacinamide Powder it comes with a little scoop and I use the recommended 1/4 scoop mixed with the hyaluronic acid. then I use the same moisturizer Now let's talk about my thoughts! I love the cleanser, it leaves me smooth, not dry, not right, but I feel super clean like the days dirt is just gone which is fantastic. the purge process has definitely started, but I just use acne patches and the purge so far isn't that bad. mixing the niacinamide with hyaluronic has been fantastic for me! I never liked the niacinamide with zinc, the zinc irritated my skin and I would get these pustules along my jaw bone which haven't made an appearance since I switched, so it was definitely the zinc. the amino acid serum, this one I'm conflicted. it has helped in preventing breakouts while wearing makeup, but it's so watery I would've preferred if it came in a spray bottle for easier application. not sure if I'd repurchase the hyaluronic could probably do what it's been doing to my skin. and the toner! arguably the most controversial of these products. this has helped brighten my skin so far, and my pores look so much smaller! that's probably the hydrating products I've been using, but I also haven't gotten blackheads clogging said pores either so I think it's a bit of both! I'm curious to see how effective this routine will be during my more hormonal days, I will continue to update!

Product Review: Skincare and Makeup
I received these item free in exchange for my honest review on them. Iv been using these products for about a month now. So here we go! 1. COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch Acne Pimple Master Patch $6. Firs of all holy value! These patches are actual magic. They are virtually invisible when on and I love how there are multiple sizes. It honestly cleared up deep pimples overnight. I’m going to stock up! 2. @LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo (+) Effaclar Duo Acne Treatment. I do not have very strong breakouts, while I wish I had this product in high school when my acne was really really bad this product was good but too strong/intense for where my skin is currently at. I used it on a few problem areas but it seems more like a long term treatment not a quick fix for someone like me. 3. MAYBELLINE - Mascara Lash Sensational Lash Sensational I loved the applicator but the formula itself was just not doing it for me. It clumped together on the brush and that transferred over to my lashes. I think the applicator is awesome but not the biggest fan of the formula. 4. MAYBELLINE - FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter Master Chrome Highlighter. I absolutely love this product! It provides a very natural glow that is PERFECT for literally everyday. It blends beautiful and I just really love it. 5. CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin GOLD STAR! This cleanser is seriously the BOM! It’s affordable, gentle, and gets everything from lipstick to lash glue off your face. I’m buying the biggest bottle they have right now!

Starting tretinoin and spironolactone
After 6 months of researching products and learning more about my skin and what works, I have finally found out the root cause of my acne. I feel like I’ve always had a good, consistent skincare routine. I’ve even made good lifestyle choices such as changing my pillow case every week, cutting out diary, limiting junk food, and drinking lots of water. However, I did not see any improvements with my skin. I mainly break out on my cheeks, chin, and jawline, especially when I’m on or about to start my period. I recently consulted a doctor for free thanks to my university’s student health services. She told me that this is hormonal for sure. I had been producing an excess of androgen hormones which lead to more oil production and eventually more acne. She prescribed me with spironolactone and tretinoin. I started taking these medications a few days ago. I think I’m in the purge period right now. I’m so glad I finally have closure on what has been causing my acne. I’ve never had serious acne problems in the past so this has been really frustrating. Current skincare routine: Morning: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night: íUNIK - Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil I also use the THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser every other night. If I need to subside a pimple, I would use Rael - Acne Healing Patch or the COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch I’ve been taking spironolactone every morning and applying my .025% tretinoin every other night. I’m giving my skin time to adjust to the tretinoin so I will start applying it nightly next week. For those who have taken spironolactone or tretinoin: how long did it take for you to see less breakouts? And can I still use my salicylic acid cleanser while on tretinoin?

Differin update!! These are no makeup pictures! The ones on the left are from the beginning of December 2020, before starting differin. The pictures on the right are today Feb 4th 2021. Huge update
So I haven’t been on here in a little while because I’ve been trying to take a break on taking photos of my face and looking at skincare social media because it’s really compromised my mental health and I’m a lot less stressed about it when I’m not constantly focused on it if that makes sense :) Anyways WHOLE NEW ROUTINE last time I checked in I had mentioned I switched to differin, I’m not too sure if that helped me, I did purge a lot. But skin has healed so much faster since stopping differin I finally got to visit the derm and she told me to go back on tretinoin 0.025% to use every night, and she also prescribed me with the clindamycin topical solution 1% to use once every morning. She also advised me to go back on birth control. At first I was not fond of that because birth control AKA I.U.D HELL brought this acne upon me in the first place. But she recommended it to get my hormones back in check, but she also stated she wasn’t comfortable prescribing me spirlactone (which is what I was aiming for) without using BC even though I stated to her I am not sexually active currently and I don’t plan to be for a very long time. Anyways, I made an appointment with my obgyn and got on birth control pills, if you are curious to which one it’s called “Drospirenone” I haven’t started them yet because she told me to wait until the first Sunday during my period. But I have been consistently using the tret and the clindamycin every day for only a week and a half so far and I’ve already seen a lot of improvement. I don’t want to get too excited because I this is what happened the first time with tret, it was great the first week or two and then my skin started to purge. I’ve now been through the purging process 3 times. And it’s gonna be torture to go through it again but if it happens then it happens 🙏 Super nervous to start the birth control for the same reason but I can only be positive and hope for the best! My full routine currently is AM VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser clindamycin topical solution 1% (derm prescribed) LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30 *im switching to a higher spf PM VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream (the extra dry unscented version) OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream(derm prescribed) And sometimes I like to put another thin layer of moisturizer on top once the tret is absorbed to prevent irritation and dryness

a skincare drugstore haul
I knew going at the drugstore this afternoon that I needed to get a new serum and night cream ,since I emptied both quite a while ago. I usually order online but I didn't plan well this time and my need is quite in need of hydration. Even though I stay at home a lot (full time university student with all classes online ✋🏻),Canadian winter is quite rough and I tend to get quite on the dry side ,even though I consider myself more of a combo-sensituve skin kind of girl. I was always interested in the Hydro boast line from Neutrogena ,yet never tried it. I heard quite good things about it ,by influencers and people here on Cherie so I picked up the Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Hydrating Serumwith hyaluronic acid and the Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Creamfor dry skin (this one said that it had no fragrance and the regular one didn't say so I didn't take the chance ) I will begin trying them tonight to see how how they feel and will update you on if they are a hit or a miss for me 🙂 Tourlou 🪐

Why does my skin react different night vs day?
Over the years I have gone through hundreds of products figuring out what works for me. I have finally found a good set of products that I love, but sometimes when I use certain products in the daytime (such as Bio-Oil - Multiuse Skincare Oil and certain facemasks, I breakout so much worse than I do when I use the same exact product at night! I am confused by this so I have been wondering if it’s related to my oil levels throughout the day or what? Should I be using more drying products in the day time and hydrating at night? The only ones that really work for me day and night are The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and THE BODY SHOP - Jumbo Tea Tree Oil although I know Hyram has said oils are not for the face

getting off makeup and clear skin with rosacea!
okay... so I know I've posted this before, and Cherie is (devastatingly) closing down, but I thought I'd share one last post. This really works. one is a prescription and there are a couple items missing, so I'll add them to the pictures. Here is the order they say to put on skincare (as depicted) 1) makeup remover/wash (I use Queen Helene cold cream that I SWEAR by, sometimes BURT’S BEES - BURT‘S BEES Sensitive Facial Cleanser ) 2) Facewash/second face wash (I use DERMA•E - Sensitive Skin Cleanser and Joeseph anti Acne soap 10% sulfur) 3) Toner (I use THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner ) 4) Serums (I use a few... my prescription Amzeeq, mostly The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% , and DERMA•E - Blue Light Shield Concentrated Serum ) 5) Spot Treatments (Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment , tea tree oil when needed) 6) Eye Cream (not pictured - DERMA•E - Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream ) 7) Moisturizer (2 different kinds depending on how dry I am- pictured: Alba Botanica Aloe Green tea moisturizer, not pictured: skinfix - Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream ) 8) Retinol: Now, because I have rosacea, I use a retinol alternative. The best one for sensitive skin I found is The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion use at night only) 9) Face Oil: HEAR ME OUT: If you have oily skin, it's not the WORST thing to use an oil. As a matter of fact, it may work well. BEST ONE BY FAR IS ROSEHIP OIL. I can't tell you how amazing it is The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil , and JOSIE MARAN - Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment during the day) wear sunscreen during the day, and put it in place of retinol. I use Glossier. - Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen it's a great light moisturizer, too. And at night in the winter if it's super dry, I'll put petroleum jelly around the corners of my eyes and lips. The results don't lie, Cherie babes (: comment below I'd you know of a better eye cream.

Adult acne update 4
If you follow me you know the deal, I started getting cystic acne in September I saw a dermatologist he gave me a new routine and we’ve been working towards getting rid of the acne and we’re finally on the getting rid of the scars phase. If you swipe you can see the products that I use, and you can see it’s very minimal I started tretinoin 0.05% a week ago! Omg is my face dry but I haven’t had any new pimples still so I’m here for it. Are use the cream three times a week Monday Friday and Saturday on the days I don’t use the cream I use the cerave healing ointment. I use the sunscreen day and night because it’s a zinc oxide product and my doctor recommended it and I absolutely adore it. Before starting the retina I could get away with using healing ointment only once or twice a week, since starting up I use it for times a week and my skin is still peeling. The peeling doesn’t itch, but it looks like I have dandruff on my face lol Next month we are looking at using the C02 laser, my doctor said those who use retinol before the laser have better results. I will continue to update before the app shuts down for those who are following this journey. P.s. My doctor refused to let me use retinol before my acne cleared, because he said we had to fix one problem at a time. I have yet to purge acne wise since starting the retina and I think because he worked one step at a time is why my skin cleared janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream so fast.

RENTINOIDs: the BEST super ingredient
🌸 note: two of the products in my picture are prescription only, high grade retinoids. but i have tagged their drug store dupes that are the SAME product with a lower concentration 🌸 WHAT IS A RETINOL? in the most basic form, a retinoid is a form of VITAMIN A which encourages skin cells to break down and turn over faster, resulting in reduction of acne, wrinkles, dark spots and signs of aging. It promotes collagen production, unclogs pores, and reduces scarring. its actually thickens skin, preventing wrinkles from forming ☀️☀️ALWAYS USE AN SPF WITH RETINOIDS☀️☀️ because your skin cells are dying and regenerating so quickly, you are much more prone to sunburns. read @jensanti‘s comment below for more health cautions! they vary HIGHLY in strength (weak to strong list) - retinoid esters: The weakest version of a retinoid, but is good for sensitive skin, surface level retinol: found in a variety of products, works on the cellular level of skin - adapalene (differin): Used to be prescription only but can now be found in a low-dose age in most drug stores. penetrates deeper and slows the production of sebum with faster cell turnover - retinoic acid (Retin-A/tretinoin): works deeper in the skin, can produce overnight results in the form of dead skin peeling. Very advanced skin cell turnover, as it penetrates and stimulates cell death and production. Skin can become very sensitive, irritated , and red - isotretinoin (Accutane): essentially sebum production is very limited and skin cell turnover is dramatically increased. on ingestible medication that will make your skin peel, dry out, and really kill acne. It’s prescription only but very effective. 🌸 products i use! prescription only: ADAPALENE 0.3% dupe: DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel ADAPALENE is the primary form of retinol in this product. this has been my go to product for years, it makes me less sun sensitive then Retin-A 0.05%, while still giving me excellent skin cell turnover and anti aging benefits. It helped my skin go from absolute shiz to a much cleaner glowing face (see 4th pic) prescription only: RETIN-A 0.05% dupe: janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream TRETENOIN is the primary form of retinoid in this product. these two may actually be the same product, but the one that I have I know is usually prescription grade. it will make your skin peel overnight, so I use it as a spot treatment if I get any deep set nodular acne. i used this for a couple years but it made me really sun sensitive, it is very strong! luxury brand: SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum RETINOL ESTER and CoQ10 are the primary forms of retinal in this product. this claims to have a 6.5% blend of stabilize retinoids and botanical retinoid alternative extracts. I think that it is incredibly overpriced for what it is. There are very similar dupes such as those from the inkey list and the ordinary

Facial Moisturizer Awards 🏆🏅
Hi guys👋🏻⁣ ⁣ Today, i’d like to share my current top three moisturizer favorites. ⁣ I still have plenty that I love, these are just ones I have been using religiously from the past months. ⁣ ⁣ These products are great for oily, rosacea and acne-prone skin🥰 ⁣ ⁣ 1. THE inkey LIST - Snow Mushroom Hydrating Gel Moisturizer (my second tube)⁣ ⁣ This moisturizer is formulated with 0.3% Tremella Fuciformis (snow mushroom). It aims to soothe, calm, and reduce the appearance of redness while providing an instant cooling effect. ⁣ The plant extract is a rich source of polysaccharides and is known to have the ability to help hydrate the skin by binding moisture to the surface. The consistency of the Snow Mushroom moisturizer is very jelly-like. It looks thick but actually is very lightweight once absorbed by skin. Although it feels sticky to the touch, it works well when applied and doesn’t leave a sticky residue. ⁣ I used to be obsessed with products which give you cooling effect but since most of my faves contain alcohol and fragrance, I had to stop using them -- the Inkey List Snow Mushroom is a very unique find for me and that’s why I love it so much! ⁣ This would also be a worthy product for your summer skincare routine!⁣ ⁣ 2. PROcure - Rosacare Gel (second bottle almost out!)⁣ My skin absolutely loves this gel cream. I did write a review on this before, in which I rated it four out five stars, but let me say now -- it has become one of the best moisturizers I’ve ever used! When I started using retinoid, this cream (and TO niacinamide) has helped my skin so much in coping with the mild irritation but also helped control my redness and flushing. I also used to work as a cook, I would always go home with an extremely red itchy face which further triggered my acne flare ups. This has always done a great job in calming as well as keeping my skin overall balanced. This is very lightweight, non-irritating and has a slight green color to it that helps even out skin tone (but does not completely cover). ⁣ I would say this works better than any other product of its kind. If you have rosacea or is prone to flushing — consider trying this one. I will definitely keep repurchasing it. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 3. Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream (just finished, third bottle on the way🤗)⁣ Seriously, who hasn’t used this one yet? This moisturizer does not disappoint. ⁣ This hydrates skin without making it oily and leaves it feeling smooth and soft. Although it glides on like silk when first applied (at least on my oily skin), this does not feel heavy or clogging at all. It also works really well for daytime and nighttime use, even under makeup. Have never experienced skin irritations or breakouts since using this product. If you’re someone who doesn’t mind a dimethicone based moisturizer, this is must-try!

Thoughts on Morning Skincare Routine?
Thoughts on Morning Skincare Routine?
Hey everyone! I’m so impressed with the Cherie community and how much I’ve learned from others on this site already that I thought I would share my morning skincare routine! For context: I am a 24 year old who in the past year has struggled with moderate adult acne (only along the chin/jawline). In the past few months I have become very passionate about skincare and finding a skincare routine that works for me! Please leave any comments below if you have suggestions for me to add/replace in my routine! I am still somewhat new to the skincare community so any and all suggestions and comments are welcome!!☺️ First I cleanse with CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser while I am in the shower and I leave this cleanser on for about 2 minutes before washing it off. I love benzoyl peroxide because I found it is one of the only ingredients to be effective in fighting acne (salicylic acid didn’t do the trick😭). Second I follow with The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution for my daily exfoliation. I know it’s controversial to use glycolic acid in the morning but I’ve had a lot of people tell me it’s okay to do as long as you are following it up with a good moisturizer and sunscreen! I have some acne scarring (just redness) along my chin and jawline and I have found overtime this product has worked wonders to diminish those scars! Third I use 1% clindamycin which was prescribed by the doctor for my acne and it has been absolutely amazing combined with the benzoyl peroxide! Fourth I apply NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% I love this formulation and I use it mainly to help with the acne scarring that has occurred. Although it can be a little sticky, it gives your face a really nice glow that I just love. Fifth I apply NATURIUM - Vitamin C Super Serum Plus this product contains a cocktail of fabulous ingredients, and I find that the combination of this with the Niacinimide has just strengthened my skin. Sixth I apply one of my favorite products ever CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin This product has been a life savior as it is non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and so hydrating! Truly an incredible product! Finally I apply elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I absolutely love this sunscreen because it’s formulated by dermatologists specifically for people with sensitive or acne proned skin. I absolutely love that it comes in a tinted version so it doesn’t leave a white cast, and it’s a great base for makeup! My one complaint is that it is a bit expensive for a small bottle. However, if you’re willing to pay the money it’s definitely worth it! That’s my routine! Please comment and let me know what you think/suggestions you have:)

Is Curology worth it?
Is Curology worth it?
⬅️Check my previous post to see the Results and my experience with Curology !! ✨ What is Curology? ➡️ It's a prescription skincare subscription that deliveres a CUSTOM formula that's made only FOR YOU!! They pair you with a licensed Dermologist to assess your skin concern with the help of your photos, questionnaire and allowing you to fill up what you expect. The dermologist then prescribes you a custom formula that's a mixture of Active ingredients that you don't necessarily get over the counter and that formula is sent to you every two months or every month. They offer first month trial set free(4.99$ Shipping cost) for you to try and test if it works for you!! ❤️👍 I’ve chosen the Cleanser, moisturizer and Custom formula sey. It is gentle and basic but effective for my Acne/blemish prone skin. ✨My experience ➡️ I decided to order their Free trial set with shipping cost 4.99$. I thought to myself why not? It's free for a month and anyway my other skincare actives are not doing the best job. Curology - Curology formula Curology - The Moisturizer Curology - The Cleanser ❤️✨The cleanser and moisturizer are pretty basic and gentle. They don’t disclose the full ingredients list of those two but the feel and usage experience is pretty gentle and effective. The cleanser cleans the sebum and first pretty well and is a great second cleanse for me. Moisturizer is Gel formula which I had the chance to choose as they offer two types of moisturizers, one for Oily skin types (gel formula) and second is Thick, occlusive one (Dry/Aging skin types) My Custom formula contains 4% Azaleic acid + 4% Niacinamide + 1% Clindamycin. Azaleic acid has anti microbial properties as well as it helps with controlling melanin production hence reduces Hyperpigmentation ✨ Niacinamide helps with excess oiliness and sebum production, also it brightens skin. Clindamycin topically is applied to kill the Acne bacteria and helps to prevent future breakouts 👍 I started using Curology in April. I experienced my skin and my acne getting better in just ONE DAY!! It's amazing. I started to take pictures of my face to keep track of my skin journey and my skin journey is phenomenal. Now, my Acne is quite covered up I'm going to have a talk with my Dermologist on their website and get the formula changed to target PIH (Dark spots) I'm so happy and satisfied with @curology and I don't think any other products would work this amazing and with such limited time!!✨👍

Don’t know what to do anymore T^T
Not sure if anyone will see this, but if you do please help me out. My skin isn’t usually acne prone but my skin has been breaking out a lot more especially around my chin and forehead. Not sure if its due to stress, hormones, or my mask but I’ve been trying to keep it basic but its not working (´༎ຶོρ༎ຶོ`) The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin Aveeno - Daily Moisturizerwith salicylic acid Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 BURT’S BEES - Cleansing Oil with Coconut & Argan Oils BANILA CO - Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I use all the products listed above both day and night (sunscreen during the day ofc) while the cleansing balm and oil only used during the night for my double cleanse system, and the peeling solution only once a week. I also sometimes use pimple patches for whenever my pimples are getting really big.

Camping routine for acne prone skin 🏕
Camping routine for acne prone skin 🏕
Desperate times call for desperate measures. I really love camping, but the risk of breaking out is so much higher for me when I’m camping and don’t have access to my full routine. I did a bunch of research before my latest trip on the necessities and ways to cut corners in my routine without doing any damage to my skin. This routine was based off of three things objectives: It needed to keep my acne at bay. I wanted it be simple and use the smallest amount of water as possible (we had to ration our big jug of water). I wanted to use as many drugstore products as possible because they are the easiest to replace if something were to break / go missing. My products: BIODERMA - Sensibio H2O Soothing Micellar Cleansing Water- amazing product and it helped take off all my makeup at night time. I opted for this over a cleansing balm in an attempt to conserve water. Benzagel - Acne Washhttps://benzagel.ca/product/acne-wash/ - I used this morning and night to help reduce chances of getting acne. I typically only use this at night, but this weekend I used it in both routines because 1) I could only fit one face wash and 2) I was really stressed about getting acne from my simplified routine and the extra bad food and drinks that we were having all weekend. Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer(fragrance free version) - My love for this moisturizer is very pure. It was kept my skin moisturized all day and night and it’s so affordable. A great choice for weekend trips. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50- I used this sunscreen on my face all weekend. It kept my skin dewy-looking and protected. It’s super lightweight and didn’t cause any break outs. Plus it’s a super travel-friendly (small) bottle. Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30- Loved using this sunscreen for my body, because it kept me protected from a sunburn, melts so easily into the skin and it also felt like it helped keep skin a little moisturized. Especially when I’m travelling light, I like products like this because it feels a little bit like a two-in-one moisturizer and spf. I wouldn’t suggest depending on this long term as a lotion, but in a pinch, I think it does the job. Plus it’s so affordable. The results: Skin was definitely not in the best shape when I got home (I used an acid toner to help with some texture and a vitamin c to help brighten) but my biggest relief is I had no pimples!! 🎉
