Here’s how to take care of oily acne-prone skin☺
Most of us acne patients suffer from oily skin. Excess sebum produced by our skin may clog pores which eventually leads to acne. In this post, I’d like to share my top tricks in controlling my oily acne-prone skin and hopefully be able to help even at least one of you 🙈☺️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐎𝐬: 1. 𝐃𝐎 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲. This has always worked for me. Sometime before, I tried not washing my face in the AM and it just made me so much oilier during the day resulting in more breakouts. Importantly, remember to wash your face every after workout too. Sweat combined with sebum is a perfect recipe for acne and skin irritation. 𝟐. 𝐃𝐎 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡. Although salicylic acid cleanser helped tremendously in my teenage years, it isn’t necessarily beneficial for me now that my skin is more dehydrated and my skin barrier compromised. Salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide cleansers may still help on days when you’re feeling extra oily but resist using it daily. Use a gentle foaming face wash from Vanicream, Hada Labo, Cerave. 𝟑. 𝐃𝐎 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲. You can have oily skin and dehydrated skin at the same time. Because your face is not hydrated enough, your glands may overcompensate for the lack of moisture by producing more oils. Do not ever skip this step! Your best option is to use an oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturizer like Paula’s Choice Clear Oil-Free Moisturizer, Neutrogena oil-free and hydroboost gel cream, and if you have rosacea too, use procure rosacare gel. 𝟒. 𝐃𝐎 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. SPF 30+ or up should always be worn especially for oily skin. Unprotected sun exposure can lead to more acne flare-ups. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide mineral sunscreens are your top options. Zinc doesn’t only protect skin but also helps calm irritated skin. My favorites are Elta MD physical and Purito Water, Clinique Broad Spectrum, .. If you like chemical sunscreen better, I highly recommend Eucerin and Sun BUm. 𝟓. 𝐃𝐎 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. Keratolytic ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid that are available over-the-counter can be your best friends when used properly. It is important to note that when using an active, stick to a minimal skincare routine to reap the best results and use of one acne treatment at a time is a must, especially if you’re just starting out. If you have moderate to severe acne, I would go for Differin Adapalene gel or a retinoid such as Retin-A and Atralin. Retinoids may not only get rid of your acne but also heal and renew your skin in the deeper layers. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓𝐬: 𝟏. 𝐃𝐎𝐍'𝐓 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫-𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞. Over-exfoliating is probably something we’re all once obsessed with. Unfortunately, this habit can only lead us to a damaged skin barrier thus, compromising our skin’s own ability to heal itself. It’s best to limit the use of exfoliating ingredients twice a week when starting or one exfoliating acid/active at a time once a day after your skin has adjusted. 𝟐. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. I say it all the time, fragrance in skincare is BAD and does nothing good for you. The use of fragrance in cosmeceutical products is unregulated and companies are not required to disclose all components used in their products. The formulation may have a lot of unknown toxic chemicals that can be harmful to you. Without knowing and often initially not externally evident, fragrance can irritate your skin deep down, cause toxic hormonal effects, and may even cause cancer. Fragrance is a NO-NO for everyone and most especially for acne-prone people or those with other skin diseases. I have suffered the consequences of my bad choices myself. Do yourself a favor and ditch your fragrance-containing products too. 𝟑. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐥-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬. Certain types of alcohol such as ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and alcohol denat. are extremely drying and irritating especially to acne-prone skin. 𝟒. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐮𝐩. Always make sure you wash away all makeup and accumulated dirt on the face before you sleep. 𝟓. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬. Change your pillowcases frequently. I always make sure I sleep on new ones every week. 𝟔. 𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞. Picking at your acne can only add dirt and germs to your skin and may cause more issues. Frequently wash your hands if you’re an absent-minded face rubber or cover the pimples with acne patches. Pyunkang Yul set
Yes along with the eye cream I did do a little Pyunkang Yul haul. Let me tell you about these products. They were formulated by Korean dermatologists, so you know it’s the good stuff. The foaming cleanser? Very misleading yet better then expected. It doesn’t foam up much it’s so much like a cream cleanser it just makes my face feel so good when I use it. When I run out I have the full size of this baby right in my shopping cart ready to press buy. It does have a strong scent of lemons but I like the smell a lot so doesn’t bother me, it’s very soothing in my opinion 5/5 The essence/toner: this baby does have a scent too but it’s more of a natural herbal scent. I use it as an essence and it does moisturize my face very well and gets it prepped for my moisturizer. The scent isn’t bad at all reminds me of maple syrup actually. So far so good no acne from it and my skin is looking better in my opinion 5/5 Nutrition cream: this one is unscented (score!) and it hydrates soooo well. Oof this is a very good face cream for my combo and dry gals. It soaks in amazingly and makes my skin hydrated all day long. It is very similar to their intensive repair cream so that’s a head scratcher. Still 5/5 I like it a lot

Budget Foam Cleansers for Sensitive Skin🌿
We all know it, when it comes to fae washes for acne-prone skin, the gentler the better. People who suffer from acne have inherently inflamed and sensitized skin, which means we need to treat it gently and load it up with moisture to avoid more breakouts. In this post, I’d like to share my top two budget-friendly cleansers (both under $10) that I find work best for my skin. _____________________________________ VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser Vanicream Liquid Basic Cleansing Facial Cleanser helps remove makeup and excess skin oils without drying your skin. It is free of dyes, lanolin, masking fragrance, parabens, formaldehyde, and other preservatives. Awesome gentle and effective cleanser for oily/combo & sensitive skin. This cleanser does what it says. Works as intended and does not strip my damaged skin barrier. Instead, leaves it balanced, and calm. Has a minimal ingredients list and one pump will foam enough for the whole face. This bottle lasts me about 4-5 months with regular use. 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞: $8.99 for 8oz 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Purified Water, Glycerin, Coco-Glucoside, Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate, Acrylates Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Mica, Sodium Chloride, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Titanium Dioxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium Edta ___________________________________ HADALABO - Deep Moisturizing Whip Foam Reliable and no-nonsense -- Hada Labo has been one of my top brands for years, especially as I'm someone who is constantly searching for budget-friendly products with top knotch formulations. Aside from their iconic Hyaluronic Lotion Moist, I have also really enjoyed their Foaming Cleanser. This no-fuss cleanser features a watery texture and self-foaming pump that delivers just the right amount of foamy cleanser. I definitely expected this to be drying even for my oily skin at first but I think a lot would agree this is a lil more hydrating compared to other foaming face washes. With that said however, I would always just recommend this for normal to oily skin. It may be less ideal or sometimes can still be harsh for those with dry skin. If you have oily skin and suffer from acne, definitely pick this up! 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞: $9.99 for 160ml 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Water, PEG-8, Butylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, TEA-Cocoyl Alaninate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Glycerin, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate, Methylparaben, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Starch Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Succinic Acid.

Hormonal Acne Journey Continued!
After roughly 4 months of taking spironolactone, I can say that I’m really happy with my skin! Yes, there is some scarring and minor breakouts, but much better than before! I’ve been using the CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion at night and with sun bum - Face Lotion SPF 50 during the day! I can totally see a difference with a combination of these products. For those of you struggling with hormonal acne, hang in there! It takes time and a lot of trial and error. Speak to your dermatologist and stick to a routine consistently! Also, the cherie community’s support helps ♥️
Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser This cleanser is amazing for my oily skin. I use it morning and night and it does not dry out my skin at all. It has a faint fragrance that smells really good and “clean”. My skin feels super soft after I use this and it helps control my oil. cocokind - Rosewater Facial Toner I use this toner in the morning after I cleanse. I mist it directly onto my face and let it dry, sometimes I pat it in a little with my fingertips. I really like this toner because it is not too harsh and it is literally only one ingredient. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I use this in the mornings after toner. I have been using it for three months now and it has completely transformed my skin. For as long as I can remember my skin has been dull, covered in little clogged pores (bumps) on my forehead and cheeks and it’s looked horrible. Nothing I tried ever fixed my problem (and I tried everything). Then when I saw reviews for this I thought it was too good to be true but I was wrong. It has been heavenly for my skin and I’m really satisfied with the results. My bumps are gone and my complexion is extremely bright and glowing. CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ I’ve been using this moisturizer since I was like ten years old and I love it. It never makes me feel greasy and it makes my skin super soft. I use it in the mornings and night. BURT’S BEES - Skin Nourishment Eye Cream I’m really happy with this eye cream because it is for sensitive skin and the skin around my eyes is extremely sensitive. I tried using an eye cream once before and it literally burned the skin around my eyes, made it super red and dry. I was reluctant to try one again but this one has never done that. It makes the skin under my eyes super soft and I love it! I use it both morning and night. sun bum - Face Lotion SPF 50 I use this to complete my morning skincare routine. I like it because it has a slight fragrance but it smells really good. My skin never feels greasy after using it and it absorbs it really well. The only negative to this is that if it gets in my eye it burns a little but other than that it’s good. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution I use this as my night toner. I apply it with a cotton pad. I really like this because it literally just sucks out all the dirt from my pores from the day and makes my skin feel super clean. My cotton pad will literally be tinted brown after I use it (gross) but that means its really getting rid of all the dirt and gunk from the day. The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% I use this at night and it makes my skin feel super clean and good. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I use this at the end of my night routine, jade roll it on. I love it.

Night Skin Care Routine for Oily Acne Prone Skin
Please note that this is what I often use for my nighttime skincareroutine. Come AM,I only use just an essence/ toner and sunblock after washing my face with a mild face wash. 🍓Cerave foaming facial cleanser (fragrance- free for normal to oily skin) - honestly wanted to try this trending cleaner and it didn’t disappoint. It is a clear gel that foams like the typical cream cleansers. So far, it works for me and i like it because it’s mild and non- stripping.CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin 🍓The Ordinary GlycolicAcid toning solution- I use this only twice a week and i love it because I can see the gunk on the cotton pad after each use. I use it on my UA too btw. :)The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution 🍓Muji Booster Essence Lotion- I use this or the Laneige Skin refiner (if the air is drier) because it preps my skin for it to absorb the serums and moisturizer better. It makes the skin moist, plump just overall healthy- looking.MUJI - Boosting Essence Lotion 🍓Pearlessence Argan and Vitamin E FacialOil - I just randomly got this from Marshalls because of the packaging lol. Pleasantly surprised because it’s a nourishing face oil with a relaxing scent to boot. I took a star away bec i find the oil is not that thin thus it takes a little bit more for my face to absorb itPEARLESSENCE - Argan Oil and Vitamin E Facial Oil 🍓Human Nature Sunflower oil Eye cream - I’ve always loved the oil and was glad to try this eyecream. Have yet to see the effect but eyebags weren’t really an issue to me. The fragrance- free bouncy cream absorbed easily on the under- eye and sometimes i use it as an over- all face moisturizer.#Human Nature - sunflower oil eye cream[products]#[FiveStars] 🍓Skin Potions Peach thy Lash eyelash and eyebrow grower - Consistenly used this for a month or two and I can say it is effective in lengthening and thickening my brows and lashes. It’s not oily like castor oil and has this gel- like consistency that is not stinging to the eyes.Skin Potions - Peach Thy Lash 🍓Laneige lip sleeping mask - this cult favorite has been a staple and it’s my ride or die lipbalm/ mask/ treatment. I used petroleum jelly or lip balm before but when I tried this, I DID NOT LOOK BACK SEZ. The tub may seem small but it will last a looong time even if used daily.LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask I find that these products work for my oily acne prone skin lately but always remember that consistency is 🔑☺️
HELP! I need a new skincare routine!
(Excuse my eyebrows I need to get them threaded) LOL So I’ve always struggled with acne, and I’m 18 and it’s still going on. I started birth control to help with my periods and acne about a little over 2 years ago now, and it has dramatically decreased my acne and helped so much with my flow and cramps. I just want to feel more confident because I rarely wear any makeup (foundation) on my face, and when I do I just want it to look smooth and not bumpy. I would really appreciate if anyone could recommend any products they use or have used. My skin is mainly oily, but it can be combination sometimes and sensitive when it wants to. Also, I don’t want to spend a lot of money on products. And what are y’all’s opinions/reviews on The Ordinary? Please help me! 🙏🏼 My morning routine consists of: -Clean&Clear - Morning Burst Oil-Free Gentle Daily Face Wash -DICKINSON'S - Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner -FORMULA 10.0.6 - Seriously Shine Free Mattifying Oil Free Moisturizer My nighttime routine consists of: -GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Mattifying -CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin -Clean&Clear - Share NIGHT RELAXIN Deep Cleaning Face Wash -DICKINSON'S - Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner -Beauty 360° - Vitamin E Moisturizing Oil -GARNIER - SkinActive Soothing Facial Mist with Rose Water -FORMULA 10.0.6 - Seriously Shine Free Mattifying Oil Free Moisturizer (I do use masks sometimes just like everybody else after I double cleanse at nighttime).

The Ultimate Anti-Pollution Routine
Air pollution isn’t just bad for your lungs but also for your skin. Because air pollution particles are so small, they can get stuck in our pores and cause all sorts of problems, like acne, skin sensitivity, dark spots, dehydrated skin, dull/uneven skin, and even premature wrinkles! Here is how I incorporate anti-pollution skincare into my routine: Use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Every. Single. Day. You’ve heard it many times before, but SPF really is one of the most important skincare products you can use. It delivers sun protection and fights against pollution-generated free radicals, which can damage our skin’s DNA and accelerate the aging process! My favorite high-SPF sunscreens are theSupergoop! - Superscreen Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 40 PA+++ and theelta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 , both of which feel hydrating but not heavy on the skin. Add antioxidants to your routine. Antioxidants are another way to reduce the damage caused by free radicals and combat visible signs of aging. Popular antioxidant ingredients include vitamin C, retinol (vitamin A), niacinamide, and vitamin E. If you’re worried about irritating your skin, you can start with a less concentrated vitamin C serum, like the dear, klairs - Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop , which you can use in the morning (as long as you follow it with SPF). If you prefer to use vitamin C at night, try thePAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster , which has a higher concentration of vitamin C to protect your skin. For sensitive skin, I would recommend niacinamide, a widely tolerated antioxidant, like the Cos De BAHA - Niacinamide 10% Serum or The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% If you have dry skin, try rosehip seed oil: It has vitamin C, A, and E and locks in moisture. My favorite is The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil Make sure you’re effectively cleansing your skin. Of course, the best way to stop pollution from affecting your skin is to make sure you remove it from your face every day. Try double cleansing (using a cleansing oil first and then a water-based cleanser after) to gently but thoroughly cleanse your skin of any dirt and pollution that have built up on your skin throughout the day. If you’re new to double cleansing, I recommend trying a cleansing balm, like the FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm . It’s less messy than a liquid oil, and it’s really satisfying to see how the balm turns into an oil to remove makeup, sunscreen, dirt, and who knows what else from your face. Then follow up with a gentle water-based cleanser, like the Cerave Foaming Facial CleanserVANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser Do you use anti-pollution skincare products? What do you want to try next?
How I deal with acne caused by my environment
Hi y’all! I hope everyone is doing great and staying safe! Today I am going to talk about acne and inflammation caused by the environments we live in, and how to try and counteract it! I found out that where I live (New York City) was a big player in how my skin looked when I noticed a pattern in decreasing redness and inflammation every time I went home to Baltimore (a smaller city but we live in the suburbs). Within a day or two my skin would be looking so much better, and when I went back to New York, the redness would come back. I thought maybe it was stress or diet, but no, it was the city and my apartment that were the biggest players. How living in a city can affect your skin: Cities have more air pollution, which can pile onto your skin and clog your pores, causing breakouts and pimples, and weaken your skin’s protective barrier This is called Chloracne and can show up as blackheads, whiteheads, cysts, and pustules Living in cities also exposes us to more free radicals, which cause inflammation in the skin. When there are toxins in our body, which often come from air pollution, we try and dispose of them through sweating and...doing other things. If our body is overloaded with these and can’t get rid of them though, we start getting acne, rashes, and sensitive skin. So how do we stop this from affecting our skin so much? SPF!! Sunscreen is a necessity no matter where you live, but if you live in a city or somewhere with lots of pollution, maybe lean towards a zinc sunscreen, or one with antioxidants like: Krave - The Beet Shield This is my favorite sunscreen that I’ve tried so far. It leaves my skin feeling nice and protected! Cleanse gently but effectively! My skin is more on the dry side, but I cleanse twice daily because of the buildup of grime from the city on my skin. Whichever cleanser you use, follow the 60 second rule! If it doesn’t break you out, or if you wear makeup, double cleanse to make sure you get everything off your skin! As my cleanser I use either VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser which I adore because it is super basic and good for my sensitive skin Or CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser which I love but is too harsh for my skin to use daily. Actives: Antioxidants, Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Ceramides, rose oil, marine hyalauronics! These are options you might want to include in your routines! These specifically will help with the issues I’ve mentioned here! Some products that might help: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Marine Hyaluronics GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Cream NATURIUM - Vitamin C Complex Serum CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin THE inkey LIST - 15% Vitamin C and EGF And an air purifier if needed! 🦋✨

Current Skin Care Routine Under A Dermatologist
Current favorites: NATURIUM - Mixed Greens Nutrient-Rich Cleanser Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Rx: Azelaic Acid 15% and Tretinoin Cream 0.025% New Additions: e.l.f. - Holy Hydration! Face Cream - Fragrance Freee.l.f. - Hydrating Water Essenceand clindamycin topical gel 1% Just got back from my dermatologist appointment, we’re adding clindamycin 1% topical gel to help combat my mild “maskne” breakouts that have recently become an issue. Here’s my new routine: AM: 1. Cleanse with Naturium Mixed Greens Nutrient-Rich Cleanser - I love this stuff! Really makes my skin feel fresh and gives a nice glow. I recently tried to switch to another cleanser and didn’t realize how much this cleanser was doing for my skin! I had an increase in breakouts and was missing that nice glow that this provides. Switched back and my skin started improving after the first use. 100% recommend. 2. Clindamycin 1% topical gel - adding this temporarily just to help get through the mild purge from my tretinoin / possible “maskne” from wearing a mask at work 12+hrs a day. On first application, it feels nice on the skin, like a watery gel that absorbs almost instantly and leaves a fresh face finish. 3. Azelaic Acid 15% topical gel - consistency of this is a light gel-cream that dries down matte. This one does WONDERS for any redness, skin sensitivity and irritation I have going on. Instantly takes away redness, and helps reduce inflammation of any active breakouts. I like how it dries down matte and doesn’t pill up with other products layered on top. Wears well under makeup. 4. Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel-cream in fragrance free. This has a beautiful gel-cream texture and works perfectly with my SPF (Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen), which I apply last to prep for makeup. It’s hard to find moisturizers that don’t feel too heavy or break me out - this one doesn’t! It’s a holy grail for me :) 5. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 - this has a clear, primer-like finish that works beautiful under makeup and protects my skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Doesn’t irritate or break me out. PM 1. Naturium Mixed Greens cleanser again. 2. E.l.f. hydrating Water Essence. This has a beautiful “fat water” texture and includes ingredients such as coconut water, Niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, coffee extract for an extra little boost of hydration and skin loving benefits. 2. E.l.f. Holy Hydration face cream in Fragrance Free - this has a thick creamy texture includes hyaluronic acid, Niacinamide, peptides, squalane and vitamin B5 for tons of skin benefits. 3. Tretinoin cream 0.025% - this is the “gold standard of skincare” and has sooo many benefits for the skin. I’m using this for anti-aging benefits, treatment of acne, acne scarring and hyperpigmentation.
Skin improvement (10 days since my last post)
I started breaking out around may or so. Then i came on here and my skincare routine looked like what my 3rd slide shows. It improved but then i felt like my face was dull and dry #doingtoomuch lol Someone commented to try a simple routine and my face seems to be improving faster, i have a nice glow. I still get new new breakouts around my chin which I think it’s just from working long hours in a mask. The best advice i can give is patience, it takes days to see improvements but weeks to see a full results. Morning EMINENCE - Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Facial Toner The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 Night CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser Same toner and serum as morning I was using hydroboost morning and night and I just felt i needed more moisture. So I switched to cerave CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin So far I haven’t exfoliated in a week, i plan to wait another week before i start exfoliating once a week. I’ll keep you all updated. Thank you to everyone that’s helped me so far!

Hey guys, I thought that I’d give a quick skin update! Overall my skin has really improved it’s a little brighter and healthier, I am getting some small spots but I’m not really expecting perfection. I’ve started using some new products: Swisse - Olive Leaf Deep Cleansing Gel - this a very effective and gentle cleanser for oily skin - it keeps my skin reasonably clear and doesn’t leave it feeling strip or dry, which I’m definitely happy about - I think the small bumps are because of of the glycolic and salicylic acid drawing the nasties out! ALAFFIA - Coconut Face Toner - hydration, hydration, hydration 💦 - leaves my skin glowing The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA - light weight moisturiser that doesn’t leave the skin greasy - actually leaves the skin super soft - I don’t like that it leaves like white buts on my face 🥴 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - this is golden, literally pulled the blemishes out of my skin - controls oil so that I’m glowing and not shinning - gonna so I solo post on it cause chiiillllldddd!!! Thanks for reading my loves!!
Best Niacinamide(b3) Serums— Clear Skin for Days
I’m addicted to niacinamide (aka b3!) as a skincare ingredient. One of the most powerful topical antioxidants, it reduces oil and sebum production (less clogged pores!) and also helps reverse hyperpigmentation and scarring. It keeps my skin clear and soft like no other ingredient within skincare, and so I always have a serum of it on hand to make sure my skin stays texture and blemish free. An effective concentration is 5-10%, used once a day. Any more than that will cause irritation! This ingredient shouldn’t burn or sting. If you’re experiencing that and redness, you’re likely allergic to it from a niacin allergy. First up is my HG serum Glossier. - Super Pure Niacinamide + Zinc Serum which I’ve been using since it dropped around four years ago. It’s solved so many of my problems, and the 5% niacinamide content doesn’t irritate my skin. It’s not sticky, it smells and feels like water and sinks in very easily. I’ve never had irritation or any issues with this, and I use four drops every night. The fact they made the bottle twice as big for the same price is a huge plus, and means that I only have to repurchase once every three months. I prefer this formulation because it has very little fillers, all the ingredients included in the formulation are either healing or hydrating The second best I’ve found is REVOLUTION - Blemish and Pore Refining Serum - 10% Niacinamide + 1% Zinc which sells for around 7$ at Ulta. It’s really a bargain. It’s a higher concentration of b3, which I noticed started irritating me. When I cut down usage to once every two days using only two drops, the irritation went away. You could also dilute a little bit with toner, which is what I did as well. It’s a bit sticky, but not overwhelmingly as it sinks in quickly and the stickiness disappears. The formulation also has very little fillers and has similar healing ingredients to the glossier serum and doesn’t pill at all, which is why I prefer it over The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% formulation. Sadly I see a ton of people using The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and while it’s cost effective, the formulation really is sub par and the included ingredients are mostly fillers, rather than beneficial healing topicals. Do you use nicinamide? For me, it’s truly been a game changer ingredient in getting and keeping my skin super clear!

RENTINOIDs: the BEST super ingredient
🌸 note: two of the products in my picture are prescription only, high grade retinoids. but i have tagged their drug store dupes that are the SAME product with a lower concentration 🌸 WHAT IS A RETINOL? in the most basic form, a retinoid is a form of VITAMIN A which encourages skin cells to break down and turn over faster, resulting in reduction of acne, wrinkles, dark spots and signs of aging. It promotes collagen production, unclogs pores, and reduces scarring. its actually thickens skin, preventing wrinkles from forming ☀️☀️ALWAYS USE AN SPF WITH RETINOIDS☀️☀️ because your skin cells are dying and regenerating so quickly, you are much more prone to sunburns. And we know sunburns are literally life-threatening they vary HIGHLY in strength (weak to strong list) - retinoid esters: The weakest version of a retinoid, but is good for sensitive skin, surface level retinol: found in a variety of products, works on the cellular level of skin - adapalene (differin): Used to be prescription only but can now be found in a low-dose age in most drug stores. penetrates deeper and slows the production of sebum with faster cell turnover - retinoic acid (Retin-A/tretinoin): works deeper in the skin, can produce overnight results in the form of dead skin peeling. Very advanced skin cell turnover, as it penetrates and stimulates cell death and production. Skin can become very sensitive, irritated , and red - isotretinoin (Accutane): essentially sebum production is very limited and skin cell turnover is dramatically increased. on ingestible medication that will make your skin peel, dry out, and really kill acne. It’s prescription only but very effective. 🌸 products i use! prescription only: ADAPALENE 0.3% dupe: DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel ADAPALENE is the primary form of retinol in this product. this has been my go to product for years, it makes me less sun sensitive then Retin-A 0.05%, while still giving me excellent skin cell turnover and anti aging benefits. It helped my skin go from absolute shiz to a much cleaner glowing face (see 4th pic) prescription only: RETIN-A 0.05% dupe: janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream TRETENOIN is the primary form of retinoid in this product. these two may actually be the same product, but the one that I have I know is usually prescription grade. it will make your skin peel overnight, so I use it as a spot treatment if I get any deep set nodular acne. i used this for a couple years but it made me really sun sensitive, it is very strong! luxury brand: SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum RETINOL ESTER and CoQ10 are the primary forms of retinal in this product. this claims to have a 6.5% blend of stabilize retinoids and botanical retinoid alternative extracts. I think that it is incredibly overpriced for what it is. There are very similar dupes such as those from the inkey list and the ordinary
Turmeric face mask challenge...stay tuned for updates! I plan to do 5-7 days depending on irritation or potential side effects. My skin is NOT virgin by any means. Consistently using The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% , OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Serum , OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème , janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream (stopped with Covid due to severe irritation under mask), TATCHA - The Water Cream , and Kiehl's - Calendula Deep Clean Foaming Face Wash . My hyperpigmentation is static at this point so looking for an adjunct to try with my routine. I normally have no breakouts/ acne but struggling a bit with maskne (12 hr shift RN) so taking it easy on a few of the products. I’m praying for decreased hyperpigmentation. I’ll keep you all updated on progress as I go along.
Facial Moisturizer Awards 🏆🏅
Hi guys👋🏻 Today, i’d like to share my current top three moisturizer favorites. I still have plenty that I love, these are just ones I have been using religiously from the past months. These products are great for oily, rosacea and acne-prone skin🥰 1. THE inkey LIST - Snow Mushroom Hydrating Gel Moisturizer (my second tube) This moisturizer is formulated with 0.3% Tremella Fuciformis (snow mushroom). It aims to soothe, calm, and reduce the appearance of redness while providing an instant cooling effect. The plant extract is a rich source of polysaccharides and is known to have the ability to help hydrate the skin by binding moisture to the surface. The consistency of the Snow Mushroom moisturizer is very jelly-like. It looks thick but actually is very lightweight once absorbed by skin. Although it feels sticky to the touch, it works well when applied and doesn’t leave a sticky residue. I used to be obsessed with products which give you cooling effect but since most of my faves contain alcohol and fragrance, I had to stop using them -- the Inkey List Snow Mushroom is a very unique find for me and that’s why I love it so much! This would also be a worthy product for your summer skincare routine! 2. PROcure - Rosacare Gel (second bottle almost out!) My skin absolutely loves this gel cream. I did write a review on this before, in which I rated it four out five stars, but let me say now -- it has become one of the best moisturizers I’ve ever used! When I started using retinoid, this cream (and TO niacinamide) has helped my skin so much in coping with the mild irritation but also helped control my redness and flushing. I also used to work as a cook, I would always go home with an extremely red itchy face which further triggered my acne flare ups. This has always done a great job in calming as well as keeping my skin overall balanced. This is very lightweight, non-irritating and has a slight green color to it that helps even out skin tone (but does not completely cover). I would say this works better than any other product of its kind. If you have rosacea or is prone to flushing — consider trying this one. I will definitely keep repurchasing it. 3. Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream (just finished, third bottle on the way🤗) Seriously, who hasn’t used this one yet? This moisturizer does not disappoint. This hydrates skin without making it oily and leaves it feeling smooth and soft. Although it glides on like silk when first applied (at least on my oily skin), this does not feel heavy or clogging at all. It also works really well for daytime and nighttime use, even under makeup. Have never experienced skin irritations or breakouts since using this product. If you’re someone who doesn’t mind a dimethicone based moisturizer, this is must-try!

✨ ACNE ROUTINE ✨
~ Saved my skin in less than a week ~ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ ↓ After my skin was utterly destroyed a while back, I decided to take this opportunity to see how truly effective my skincare routine actually was. Here's what we're playing with: cystic acne, fungal acne, whiteheads, enlarged and irritated pores, flakiness, redness, dark spots, acne scars. The first pic is me now. You can still see the scars a bit on my cheeks, but they're fading fast. The second pic is me about a week ago. You can't really tell, but my forehead is COVERED in fungal acne. So is the area around my nose and under my lower lip. NIGHT ROUTINE: Cleanser: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser - Lathers nicely, a little goes a long way - Nice smell, doesn't sting eyes - Balances my combo skin extremely wrll- never feels tight or oily Toner: THE inkey LIST - Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Gentle Exfoliating Toner - Sticky but worth it - PHA is a gentler exfoliant than AHA and BHA, so you can use it everyday - 3% niacinamide!! Really helped with my dark spots and acne scars - Unexpectedly helped manage my redness and pores as well! - USE SUNSCREEN EVERY DAY, especially with any active ingredients like niacinamide Treatment cream: Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel - Super drying (use a good moisturizer in the morning) - No weird fragrance - Doesn't make skin itch or burn (a lot gentler than salicylic acid) - Really helps with cystic acne Oil: now - Solutions Jojoba Oil - Helped me purge a few months ago (mimics sebum production and this regulates it), now it's a staple in my routine - Depending on skin type, be careful when introducing oil to your routine Cream: MARIO BADESCU - Seaweed Night Cream - Smells disgusting - Looks disgusting - Fake fragrance, fake color, blegh - BUT IT WORKS SO WELL; hasn't broken me out, really helped with redness on my cheeks and around my nose - This product's still on my sketch radar though Spot treatment: MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion - Has calamine; calamine helps with yeast infections, which are what cause fungal acne breakouts - Has alcohol; burns like a mofo, but skin surprisingly isn't irritated come morning - Works extremely well on ...everything - 11/10 would recommend DAY ROUTINE: Same cleanser and toner with the addition of a lotion instead of a dream and sunscreen. Lotion: MARIO BADESCU - Hydro Moisturizer With Vitamin C - Face ways seems super plump after I use this *winks in vitamin c - No fragrance! - Super lightweight, non-greasy Sunscreen: MyChelle dermaceuticals - Sun Shield Liquid SPF 50 - Minimal white cast (unavoidable with zinc, but zinc is, IMHO, the best physical sunscreen ingredient, and this is the best sunscreen I've found so far) - Smells quite nice, actually - Non-comedogenic, non-greasy - MATTE, WOOHOO That's the tea ☕😌

Thoughts on Morning Skincare Routine?
Hey everyone! I’m so impressed with the Cherie community and how much I’ve learned from others on this site already that I thought I would share my morning skincare routine! For context: I am a 24 year old who in the past year has struggled with moderate adult acne (only along the chin/jawline). In the past few months I have become very passionate about skincare and finding a skincare routine that works for me! Please leave any comments below if you have suggestions for me to add/replace in my routine! I am still somewhat new to the skincare community so any and all suggestions and comments are welcome!!☺️ First I cleanse with CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser while I am in the shower and I leave this cleanser on for about 2 minutes before washing it off. I love benzoyl peroxide because I found it is one of the only ingredients to be effective in fighting acne (salicylic acid didn’t do the trick😭). Second I follow with The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution for my daily exfoliation. I know it’s controversial to use glycolic acid in the morning but I’ve had a lot of people tell me it’s okay to do as long as you are following it up with a good moisturizer and sunscreen! I have some acne scarring (just redness) along my chin and jawline and I have found overtime this product has worked wonders to diminish those scars! Third I use 1% clindamycin which was prescribed by the doctor for my acne and it has been absolutely amazing combined with the benzoyl peroxide! Fourth I apply NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% I love this formulation and I use it mainly to help with the acne scarring that has occurred. Although it can be a little sticky, it gives your face a really nice glow that I just love. Fifth I apply NATURIUM - Vitamin C Super Serum Plus this product contains a cocktail of fabulous ingredients, and I find that the combination of this with the Niacinimide has just strengthened my skin. Sixth I apply one of my favorite products ever CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin This product has been a life savior as it is non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and so hydrating! Truly an incredible product! Finally I apply elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I absolutely love this sunscreen because it’s formulated by dermatologists specifically for people with sensitive or acne proned skin. I absolutely love that it comes in a tinted version so it doesn’t leave a white cast, and it’s a great base for makeup! My one complaint is that it is a bit expensive for a small bottle. However, if you’re willing to pay the money it’s definitely worth it! That’s my routine! Please comment and let me know what you think/suggestions you have:)

Is Curology worth it?
⬅️Check my previous post to see the Results and my experience with Curology !! ✨ What is Curology? ➡️ It's a prescription skincare subscription that deliveres a CUSTOM formula that's made only FOR YOU!! They pair you with a licensed Dermologist to assess your skin concern with the help of your photos, questionnaire and allowing you to fill up what you expect. The dermologist then prescribes you a custom formula that's a mixture of Active ingredients that you don't necessarily get over the counter and that formula is sent to you every two months or every month. They offer first month trial set free(4.99$ Shipping cost) for you to try and test if it works for you!! ❤️👍 I’ve chosen the Cleanser, moisturizer and Custom formula sey. It is gentle and basic but effective for my Acne/blemish prone skin. ✨My experience ➡️ I decided to order their Free trial set with shipping cost 4.99$. I thought to myself why not? It's free for a month and anyway my other skincare actives are not doing the best job. Curology - Curology formula Curology - The Moisturizer Curology - The Cleanser ❤️✨The cleanser and moisturizer are pretty basic and gentle. They don’t disclose the full ingredients list of those two but the feel and usage experience is pretty gentle and effective. The cleanser cleans the sebum and first pretty well and is a great second cleanse for me. Moisturizer is Gel formula which I had the chance to choose as they offer two types of moisturizers, one for Oily skin types (gel formula) and second is Thick, occlusive one (Dry/Aging skin types) My Custom formula contains 4% Azaleic acid + 4% Niacinamide + 1% Clindamycin. Azaleic acid has anti microbial properties as well as it helps with controlling melanin production hence reduces Hyperpigmentation ✨ Niacinamide helps with excess oiliness and sebum production, also it brightens skin. Clindamycin topically is applied to kill the Acne bacteria and helps to prevent future breakouts 👍 I started using Curology in April. I experienced my skin and my acne getting better in just ONE DAY!! It's amazing. I started to take pictures of my face to keep track of my skin journey and my skin journey is phenomenal. Now, my Acne is quite covered up I'm going to have a talk with my Dermologist on their website and get the formula changed to target PIH (Dark spots) I'm so happy and satisfied with @curology and I don't think any other products would work this amazing and with such limited time!!✨👍

Not sure if anyone will see this, but if you do please help me out. My skin isn’t usually acne prone but my skin has been breaking out a lot more especially around my chin and forehead.
