This ingredient saved my skin🤫❣️
Hello lovelies! ❣️ Today, i’d like to talk more about my favorite and my holy grail ingredient -- 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐧. 🌟 Tretinoin, also known as 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐝, is an active form of 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐀. It is the 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞-𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 prescription retinoid for anti-aging and other handful of skin issues. 🌟 Tretinoin is considered the benchmark ingredient among dermatologists for treating 𝐚𝐜𝐧𝐞, 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐧𝐞❓ Tretinoin stimulates 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 on your skin. Quicker cell turnover opens pores, releasing trapped bacteria or irritants that are causing acne. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and treats hyperpigmentation. The catch? It doesn’t give results immediately. You’ll have to in it for a long haul with Vitamin A. It typically takes around two to three months to really see a difference with consistent tretinoin use, but if you use it long-term, your skin will look significantly younger! Wouldn’t you want that? 🙈 𝐌𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬: I have 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐲 skin. I have struggled with acne for the past three years. My skin has also been very 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝. I am highly prone to 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐧𝐞, especially along my jawline and neck and have always struggled with 𝐡𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 since my teenage years. I get 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 even from the tiniest comedones and they would usually linger for 6-12 months. 𝐌𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: I have been using tretinoin since January of 2020. I started with 0.001% from my curology prescription and now 0.05% from Galderma which I use nightly.. I did also try Adapalene from Fall 2019 to the first couple of months of this year, alternating it with tretinoin. When I started Tretinoin, I was on my purging stage with adapalene (brand name Differin), which lasted for few months. I kept my skincare routine simple; gentle cleanser, moisturizer, tretinoin and sunscreen in the AM. I got rid of my fragrance containing products (this is important! Fragrance is highly irritant.) Aside from the purging, I also experienced drying but nothing too extreme. Moreover, my skin became a lil more sensitive so since then I always made sure I don’t use any other active and tretinoin in the same routine. 𝐓𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬: For the first and second month, I've seen no changes in my acne and dark marks at all. However, its effect on texture was almost instant. Tretinoin just turned my skin somewhat buttery and over time seems to prevent bumps from forming. I have not had any bad reaction so far except it dries the skin around the eye area so much (healing ointment is a must!). I’m on my fifth month now and my skin has been so much more resilient, repairs quicker, and post-acne marks now fade so much faster. I have not had any new acne since April either. Hard to believe right? Well, it’s a 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐭 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 which is why it’s my top recommended ingredient ever since. ❗️ I have also used hydroquinone for 2 months. I will talk about the ingredient in another post. For pictures please refer to my Curology post 😉
Dark spots and acne scars
May 22, 2020
Welcome to my skin journey! I’ve been struggling with acne for over a decade now, and just the past year it has gotten worst than ever. I used to have recurrent pimples on my nose and forehead, and being a nursing student with a lot of stress on my shoulders, i believe it triggered my acne to worsen. I just started getting into skincare on december of 2019, i’ve been watching youtube and educating myself about it. A big shoutout to hyram! :-) These pictures were taken 3mo apart: the second pic was taken at the end of may. It was taken a few days after getting a dermalinfusion. It was my first treatment that i have ever done on my face. It was very expensive but i was very desperate for help. I’ve done 2 treatments in total, but i realized this is only beneficial if i am constant with the treatments. I decided to stop and invest in skincare instead. Even days after my treatment my face was very red and i had very painful pimples. the third pic was taken beginning of june. Thats when i saw a huge difference in my skin, the main reason i knew i was on the right track is because i stopped having that one huge pimple on my nose. Over a decade i would constantly have a pimple on my nose, if it goes away, it eventually comes back on a different spot on my nose. It was a never ending cycle. But as you can see my whole life ive been picking on my pimples and this is the results of it. Everyone learns through error and thats me! So hyperpigmentation was my second concern, i still am struggling with acne once in a while, i would say once a month. Not really relate to my menstruation. This was the start of me using vitamin C every morning! the first pic is my current skin condition. Taking this picture got me very emotional (didnt cry tho haha). If theres one thing i would recommend is to take pictures of your journey, because seeing the before and after kept me motivated to continue! If you can’t tell i have a pimple on my forehead, covered by a pimple patch! That is my new way to stop picking on my pimples and prevent hyperpigmentation. I still am struggling with acne but i’m not upset about it because its nothing like before. This journey is still not over, honestly will never be over. I will be posting my skincare routine soon!!!! I only want to spread my knowledge so that i can help other people who are struggling like i am. My skin will never be perfect, no ones skin will ever be perfect. But what matters the most is that i am more confident with myself, and so grateful i dont have to hide under tons of makeup. I’m a happier person!
Swipe to watch my skin journey - from horrible hormonal acne, premature wrinkles and large pores to clean smooth and hydrated skin. I struggled with my skin from the what’s 2017-2019, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with. I developed a tool kit to help my skin from the inside out, it started with birth control and controlling my cortisol and testosterone levels, once I started birth control and eliminated some stressful elements from my life, is started cleansing with micellar water and then a simple cetaphil cleanser, I would apply pixi glow tonic and then the ordinary hyralaunic acid, I would apply the ordinary copper polypeptide “buffet” and origins “a better world” moisturizer and I would apply tamanu oil to my acne scars. Twice a week I would use dr.jart cicarepair sheet masks or garnier hydrating sheet mask. I used glamglow brightening exfoliating mask once to twice a week to reduce my hyperpigmentation from acne scars. THE NUMBER ONE THING - was controlling my hormones, even with a great skincare routine, birth control and stress levels were instrumental in helping me control my hormonal acne. I highly recommend checking these methods out if you are not seeing results with your regular skin care routine.
Differin SAVED my chin! 🤍💫
✨✨✨ DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel ~$15 ✨This product saved my chin from hormonal acne! My dermatologist recommended I start using it, as I had painful chin acne that just wouldn’t go away and was eating up my self-esteem 🙄. ✨Differin/adapalene is a third generation retinoid, giving you less side effects compared to first generation retinoids like tretinoin. Even though this product made me purge, as it should due to the increased cell turnover, once past the purging stage I can say I no longer break out on my chin. If I do, it’s just a spot that pops up and goes away in one day. ✨IT TAKES TIME TO SEE MAJOR IMPROVEMENT. IT MIGHT GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER. I told myself I wouldn’t back out until I finished my first tube, and I have 0 regrets!! Moisturize moisturize moisturize as much as possible, you’ll need it to get through! I’d recommend an old reliable like Cerave. And of course, sun screen, but you already knew that 😉. ✨Differin Gel treats acne, hyperpigmentation, and aging. I was only using it on my chin, but now I’ve started using it in the rest of my face for anti-aging purposes. I’ve noticed that fine lines in my forehead and around my cheeks have left the chat. Also, the marks from past pimples that never seemed to leave have almost completely faded, and my texture and tone is so much more even. ✨Be warned, the first few weeks, my skin was dry, irritated and flakey. I was so fed up w my hormonal acne that I went full force, no mercy, and applied this product every night after moisturizer. I’d say use it a few nights a week at first, and start to build up as you see your skin tolerating it. Also, a small amount goes a long way. ♥️DEFINITE repurchase, at least until I move into something stronger and prescribed like tretinoin. But for now, I’m on my second tube. 🤍Comment below if you have any questions about my experience!!! -J

OW: treating my nodular acne
🌊 first off, sorry if the first photos make you a little uncomfortable! This is my current face as of June 5, and I have a huge and annoying nodule on my forehead. Its been here for 4 or more days now. The worst nodules ive had have lasted up to two weeks from formation to dissapation. 🌊 What is nodular acne? We all know what a whitehead is, a squeezable, popable little brat of a zit. a blackhead is similar but with an open surface and easily extracted. Well, this isn’t open or popable. And if you touch it, its painful as heck. I had the misfortune of wearing a hat on a nodule and it was incredibly painful. A nodule forms the same way as other acne, with a blocked pore, but deeper in the skin. its a hard red bump on your skin, which can become as large as a fingernail (its hideous). The nodule is also associated with the bacteria p. acne. 🌊 Treating Nodular Acne If you have nodular acne, its time to see a dermatologist! This acne can’t be cured using drugstore products and is considered pretty severe. Here are the products given to my and/or recommended by my derm! DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel My dermatologist prescribed Differin which is adapaleme (a retinoid) 0.3%, which is MUCH higher than you can buy anywhere. This encourages skin cell turnover so that you get less skin clogs and reduces inflammation. The one in the link is only 0.1% but it can be a game changer for many people. I only apply it at night as it makes me sun sensitive SMARTR SKIN - MICRONEEDLE DERMA ROLLER i microneedle before putting on topical treatments to help the serums and treatments get into my skin. If i have an active spot, i dont roll over it — usually it hurts too much to anyhow. I always sterilize my needles with isopropyl alcohol beforehand SEPHORA COLLECTION - Clear Skin Days by Clarifying Serum This is a salicylic acid aka beta hydroxy acid solutjon that I use most AM and PMs. Salicylic acid dissolves oil and goes into pores to help clear breakouts. I use this as an extra preventative measure to stop breakouts from forming at all up&up - Max. Strength Acne Medication This benzoyl peroxide topical cream kills acne bacteria, and i use it as a spot treatment on top of any active nodules I have. It can be drying, so I use just a little bit

Microneedling changed my skin!
I battle with acne for my entire adult life. It started soon after starting my university career and progressively for worse over the years. I tried everything from doxycycline to strong birth control, to aggressive prescription creams and NOTHING worked ... until I found Microneedling. The transformation you see in this photo was from November 2019 (photos on the right taken on the day of my first treatment) to March 2020 - that’s only 5 months! What is Microneedling? Microneedling is a procedure that involved creating micro channels in the skin using a Microneedling pen. The tip of the pen has lots of tiny little needles that pierce the skin. But isn’t that painful? Not at all - your skin is numbed the whole time! What is Microneedling used for? It can help with many different skin concern such as acne scarring, surgery/injury scars, sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture and milia! What about using dermarollers at home? Many of you may have seen dermarollers that you can buy on amazon and even winners - please do not use these! Because of the way they enter and exit your skin, they can cause undesirable tearing and even scratching of the skin - which can do more harm than good! I’m ready to book a consultation - where should I go? Although Microneedling is available as a treatment by just about anyone - I would strongly recommend only getting this treatment with a cosmetic nurse. Cosmetic nurses have the education to know the skin anatomy and know how to do this procedure properly. I have seen too many things done incorrectly by aestheticians who do not have proper training. Microneedling should be done as a procedure on it’s own and not as a part of a facial. There should not be any masks, serums or creams applied to your face during the procedure! What about recovery? Typically you’ll need about a full week to get back to normal. The first 24h you should not apply anything to your face unless something was given to you by the nurse! 2-3 days following the treatment you can cleanse the skin with a mild cleanser and apply a very basic cream. After 3-4 days you can wear light mineral makeup or bb cream. For about 1 week you will notice your skin is dry and flaky but the dryness will peel away and reveal gorgeous glowing skin! I hope you guys enjoyed this review! Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions, I’ll be more than happy to answer them. The cosmetic nurse who did my Microneedling is on insta as @PlumpItUpp
