How I do Voluminous curls without curling tongs / straighteners
You’re probably sick of spending ages in the morning curling or straightening your hair before school/work, right? I’ve been there, trust me. I’d much rather spend the extra 30 minutes in bed – but I’m also not a fan of the way pin straight hair looks on me. At one point, I was curling my hair almost every day (awful I know) – and even with heat protecting spray, my hair was slowly starting to dry out and getting frizzy at the ends. That’s why I’m going to show you a very simple way of adding volume to your hair without any curling tongs/straighteners – and it only takes a minute to prepare. Sounds too good to be true right? This trick will work best on medium to long hair and for those with thin to medium hair thickness. Step 1: Wash your hair as normal I like to use my standard everyday shampoo for this (your go-to regular shampoo will work fine). I sometimes find that certain richer shampoos made for intensive moisturising can weigh my hair down a little – so use an alternative if you want to see the best results. Step 2: Pat your hair dry and follow up with heat protection The best kind of leave in treatment to use for adding volume is with something quite lightweight, thin in consistency and of course provides heat protection. Be generous with it! Step 3: Blow-dry your hair upside down I know this sounds like a weird one – but trust me on this! Position your head so that your hair is falling towards the floor, place your hairdryer 6 inches away and start drying from the roots and work your way to the ends. Blow-dry in this position until your hair is almost completely dry. Step 4: Twist your hair into a low bun This is the important part: once your hair is 95% dry, take all of your hair and twist it all the way down to the ends tightly and wrap it around itself to form a low bun. If you have thicker hair – divide your hair into two sections and form two low buns. Twist your hair to one side and then wrap it around to form a bun Step 5: Just sit and wait All the hard work is done - now you just have to sit and wait until it’s completely dry. If you want to speed up this process, you can blow-dry your hair whilst it’s in the bun until it’s fully dry - or do this hair hack first thing in the morning so by the time you’ve put on your makeup and picked out an outfit, your hair will be ready! Step 6: Take out your bun and you’ve got bouncy fluffy curls! The longer you leave it in, the better the results! I start to see volume and curls after having my hair in the bun like this for an hour. This makes it perfect for those who have a long commute - leave your house with your hair in a bun and get to your destination with gorgeous curls. Enjoy this fool- proof simple hack for healthy voluminous hair.
