FULL Gentle Hydrating Skincare Routine
This has kind of been the theme of my entire Cherie page since its creation, but I’ve been needing to really hydrate my skin more since the weather’s become colder. Having rosacea means I always need to do extra research on the products I try. So after some experimenting, trying a LOT of new products, and deciding to stick to some old favorites, this is the routine I’ve come up with for myself: AM Routine Cleanser - Inkey Oat Cleansing Balm: A recent switch for the winter. Leaves my skin feeling nourished and hydrated, but doesn’t tackle my acne very effectively. Might switch back to my old cleanser (Cosrx Good Morning Gel) and just use this when my skin is feeling tight/for double cleansing. Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner: Another recent switch. This toner is so hydrating that I don’t need to use hydrating masks or overnight creams as frequently as I used to and it’s very calming. Serum - Peach & Lily’s Glass Skin Refining Serum: This is definitely worth the hype. My skin has been noticeably smooth since using it. Spot Treatment - TULA Go Away Acne: Uses benzoyl peroxide to work on acne which can interfere with rosacea, so I don’t use this on my cheeks but it works well in other areas. Not a repurchase for me. Eye Cream - Cetaphil Deep Hydration Refreshing Eye Serum: I said recently that eye cream doesn’t work for me, but I’m starting to get wrinkles under my eyes and thought it was important to kick up the hydration and attention. This one is quite gentle and pretty affordable. Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion: Undefeated! If I need some extra hydration I’ll add a couple drops of Leo Oil and mix on my hand using my ring finger. Sunscreen - EltaMD SPF 46 on days with no makeup or ILIA Serum Skin Tint: Both are mineral sunscreens and unscented with protection in the 40s. PM Routine Cleanser - The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm: ...and I’ll double cleanse with my old Cosrx Good Morning Gel if I wore makeup that day. Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner Serum - Paula’s Choice CALM 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant or 10% Azelaic Acid Booster: I like to alternate between these two serums. The BHA (salicylic acid) targets pores and redness. The Azelaic Acid Boost contains salicylic acid too, but is more effective at targeting rosacea specifically. Eye Cream - Veriphy 20/20 Eye Cream: Received this as a gift and I actually really like it! Contains ingredients like peptides, niacinamide, and cucumber extract. But it’s wildly expensive and I won’t be able to repurchase. Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion + Astrologiens Leo Oil: At night I always combine these two if I’m not using my Naturium Sleeping Cream (2 pumps + 2 drops). I have individual reviews on a number of these products, so if you’re interested in learning more about something feel free to check those posts out or just ask a question here :) Most of these products are generally rosacea and sensitive skin safe. I have type 1 rosacea for reference.

why YOU should be using AZELAIC ACID
azelaic acid is a super amazing ingredient in skincare ! it aids in: even skin tone target stubborn spots soothes irritation & redness PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster 🍃key ingredients 🍃 azelaic acid (skin brightening, texture improving) glycerin (skin replenishing) salicylic acid (exfoliant) licorice root extract (skin soothing) I really really love this product!! it claims to do what is listed above, and I must say that it does this. I use this every night in my routine. it is a cream texture which I was surprised with at first because I had previously used the NATURIUM - Azelaic Topical Acid 10% which is a serum formula. before using this product, when I would pop my pimples...(I know I know, but we have all been there right?!), I would wake up with a huge scar on my face with redness everywhere! NOW, (for the occasional time that I do get pimples and pop them), the redness fades very soon after and I wake up looking like I never had a pimple there in the first place! my jawline tends to be prone to texture & pimples, and I believe that this product is a key reason as to why I don’t get many bumps or pimples there anymore!! I swear by this product and will definitely be trying to repurchase it in the future if my budget allows me to haha. PAULA’S CHOICE: 1oz for $36

New Cetaphil Products? 💭
I recently picked up two newer Cetaphil products and have been using them for awhile. I haven’t use Cetaphil in years because I’m more of a Cerave gal, but these products intrigued me! First up is the Cetaphil - Deep Hydration Healthy Glow Daily Cream . I bought this at Walgreens for about 22 bucks( I wish I had known it was $16.99 on Target.com😐) for 1.7oz. This claims to replenish skin’s hydration for 48 hours, leaving skin soft, luminous and supple. As with all of Cetaphil’s products, this is dermatologist tested. This cream is formulated with Vitamin B5 and E, hyaluronic acid and blue daisy. This also contains niacinamide. As I said, I’ve been using this for awhile and I really enjoy it. This is lovely day cream, as it’s the perfect consistency for me. It’s light enough to wear nicely under my makeup, yet moisturizing enough for day time use. This would not be moisturizing enough for my dry, dehydrated skin at night, but it’s not meant for that anyway. This creates a smooth, hydrated base for the day. I generally like the ingredients list. I haven’t experienced any breakouts or irritation while using this. This did leave a soft “glow” on my skin. The ONLY thing I didn’t like about this was the fragrance. Why oh why would cetaphil put fragrance in a moisturizer?😩 Cetaphil is known for making products that are sensitive skin friendly, so the fact that they made this heavily scented is beyond me. I can’t quite put my finger on what exactly this smells like( maybe baby powder mixed with flowers?) but it is quite strong. I looked a few days ago and realized the box this comes in does say “Gentle Scent” so I guess it’s my fault for not paying close enough attention. Either way, I do not like scent in my skin care, so I’m really disappointed. I will definitely use this up but I don’t know if I’ll repurchase, only because of the scent. If they make an unscented version, however, I will stock up!😎 If you don’t mind scents, I would definitely recommend this! I really do love this cream as it provides great hydration while not feeling heavy nor greasy. Next up is the Cetaphil - Deep Hydration Refreshing Eye Serum . This is $14.99 at Target for 0.5fl oz. This serum claims to remove puffiness and dark circles while replenishing skins hydration. Again, this product has a really nice ingredients list including Vitamin B5 and E. This serum felt light and hydrating under my eyes. This has the same fragrance as the cream, so that was definitely annoying to me. Fragrance around the eye area is a big no-no. But I really do like this eye serum. Simple and effective! Again, if scents aren’t a big deal to you, this would be an awesome eye serum for you that I would totally recommend. In conclusion, I was very impressed with these products and definitely fell in love...until I smelled them. As I said, I wish they would create an unscented version. They’d be a 10/10 in my book!😀 Will you be picking these up?

have you heard of Skinimalism? According to Pinterest it's a new beauty trend and it's gonna be BIG in 2021. It's all about makeup that lets your skin shine through... "flaws" and all! I'm really loving this trend because it reminds us we don't have to be snatched all the time 🙌🏾 here's the product list for this look and I have a full tutorial up on YouTube... link in bio ❤️❤️ e.l.f. - e.l.f. Glass Skin > Ordinary Peeling Solution
Okay so a few weeks ago I made a post on how I changed my mind on The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Originally I was ready to bring it right back after trying for weeks but apparently I was keeping it on for too long and it was just making my skin worse. For the longest time, I was thinking that my skin has been so desensitized by products that I need to wear products for double the time they suggested (with hydrating products this sometimes works) but DEFINITELY not for this one. I started wearing it for 8-9 minutes rather than 10-15 and definitely seeing more improvements so I gave it a good review, but now that PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum has come into my life, I may have once again changed my mind. This is a serum that claims to smooth your skin and even tone using peach extract, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and peptides. Below I have provided Ulta’s notes on it! RECOMMENDED FOR: • Dullness and uneven skin tone • Rough skin texture • Wrinkles, fine lines, sagging • Dehydrated skin • Redness, inflammation WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU: • Peach Extract: full of vitamins, minerals, and essential acids to help keep skin resilient • Niacinamide: helps quell inflammation, brighten and provide antioxidative benefits • Asian Mountain Yam Extract: helps to reduce flakiness • Madecassoide: helps curb inflammation and stimulate collagen production • Hyaluronic Acid Complex: blend of short-chain, medium-chain and long-chain hyaluronic acid molecules that moisturizes every layer of skin, leaving it hydrated, plumped and radiant • Peptide Complex: proprietary blend of peptides that signals collagen production, helping fill fine lines and deeply-etched wrinkles, while firming skin for a smoother, glassier appearance Verdict: After using this serum ONE TIME I noticed a DRASTIC change in my skin that I was expecting from The Ordinary Peeling Solution and didn’t get after using for almost 6 months. Slowly it started to show results, but nothing even CLOSE to Peach and Lily. With Peach and Lily, not only do I see a total lack of acne and scarring that I had before, but the redness that normally shows in my skin is almost nonexistent and my face is finally the same shade as my neck. This is definitely one of my top 5 products I’ve ever used. How I Use: Morning: Wash my face with THE BODY SHOP - Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser Top with serum and a moisturizer with sunscreenCeraVe - Hydrating Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50 Night: Wash my face with either the tea tree cleanser or bliss - Micro Magic depending on how long I wore my Covid mask that day (Micro Magic seems to help with maskne) Saturate a cotton pad with Fourth Ray - Waterfall Gentle Toner and rub it all over, let it dry and top with CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator
Stimulate the Economy! Buy Skincare!
My newest finds and unfortunately last for a while :( I’m on leave from work right now so I only have one more paycheck coming in so these will be my last new grabs for a while! KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 -First time using a mineral sunscreen and I am in love! No white cast at all, leaves my face looking so glowy but not oily. Smell is kinda weird but that’s usually what happens when the product is fragrance free so 🤷🏼♀️ peach slices - Snail Rescue All-in-One Oil Free Moisturizer -You KNOW I had to get this after trying the snail mask! I have combo/oily leaning skin and this moisturizer is so nice and thin. I occlude it with squalane in the mornings TULA SKINCARE - Go Away Acne Spot Treatment -Okay so I was looking for the kinship spot treatment and couldn’t find it so I got this instead. I have not used it yet but it’s formulated with niacinamide, licorice, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, and lactic acid. WHEW that is a pretty stacked inkey IMO so I’m excited! I had coupons and points so I only got paid like $47 for all of this but I just got my stimulus check (yay!) so here’s to stimulating the economy! Hope you all get your stimmys and the chance to try some new products :-)
1 Month Skin Update: Brand New Routine
Photos are a month difference November 18 to now December 12!! I know I still have a long way to go but I have been focusing on being patient! Small consistent results is what we’re going for! Within this month of changing products I have seen better results that I have seen all year! BRAND NEW ROUTINE: First off I know I did a crazy thing and just completely switched up my routines and added new products but I took about 2 weeks to fully cycle everything in! I visited a spa and discovered Image Skincare! A brand that I had never heard of before! I researched it and so many Esthetician’s recommend the brand! After getting a facial I saw how amazing my skin felt after and decided to take the leap and purchase some products! Full list is below! I was still using Curology up until this past 2 weeks because I really was just giving up hope on it! Not really seeing much results until I actually switched up other products. Potentially might keep using it every few days but not sure yet. Also I started adding in vitamin c products! Overall my breakouts have been smaller and I noticed my skin just feels better overall and acne is more controllable! Don’t get me wrong I still do have my crazy pimples pop up here and there but I think that might be my diet oops I just love cheese and chocolate😭 Still lots of work on my scarring but looks a bit better! NEXT STEPS: 1. Keep being patient!!! 2. Keep using Image Skincare products consistently! 3. Add in a glycolic toner! The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning SolutionI already own this product but am the worst with remembering to use! 4. Cut out the dairy!!!!!!!!! My Go-To Winter Moisturizing Duo
CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion I’ve been using CeraVe PM moisturizer for about a year now. It’s safe for sensitive skin and lightweight, so it’s been perfect for my rosacea and oily skin. But in the winter I always need to kick it up a notch. LEO OIL - LEO OIL 30 Label A couple months ago I discovered Leo Oil from @astrologiens (check their Instagram account)! I wanted to support a small business and loved their short list of ingredients: meadowfoam, rosehip seed oil, and blue tansy. All great ingredients for hydrated, balanced skin. Honestly, my skin looks radiant every time I use it. It’s expensive, but there are frequent sales, it lasts a reeeally long time, and the ingredients are excellent quality. Plus, astrologiens includes cute lil stickers with your purchase :) The past month I’ve been combining two pumps of CeraVe with 2 drops of Leo Oil at night for extra hydration, and it’s proven to be the PERFECT combination for my skin. Never clogs my pores, but keeps my skin super hydrated and absorbs beautifully. I’ve literally loved how my skin has looked and felt since combining these two together. What are you guys adding to your skincare routine to stay extra hydrated this winter?
Rosacea: Basic Necessities
Cleanser: COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser My favorite cleanser I’ve ever used! It’s super affordable, and the low pH and gentle ingredients are great for sensitive skin—it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dried out after using. The tea tree in it also helps minimize my pores. And I love the gel consistency! It works well with my oily skin. Basically a home run for me. Toner: COSRX - Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner Alcohol-free toners are KEY for those with rosacea. I found this toner at a local beauty supply shop and was drawn to it because it’s a little harder to find alcohol-free toners and the price was right. Additionally, centella is an amazing ingredient for soothing the skin and is found in a lot of skincare products that target rosacea. Betaine and allantoin are also great for sensitive skin. Exfoliant: PAULA'S CHOICE - Calm Redness Relief 1% BHA Lotion Salicylic Acid Exfoliant I’m out of this product right now, so it’s not pictured above. This BHA exfoliant is gentle enough for my skin and noticeably improves it. I only use this at night. If you use an exfoliant during the day, you MUST wear sunscreen, too! Moisturizer: CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion This is the perfect weight for me to use everyday. I use about 1.5-2 pumps every time I use it. The ingredients are great for all skin types, it’s affordable, and the weight ensures that my pores never get clogged. Face Oil: LEO OIL - LEO OIL 30 Label This was a recent purchase that I actually found on Instagram. Because it’s getting colder, I wanted a face oil I could apply at night to keep it super hydrated. I liked this product because I wanted to support a small business, and its ingredients are all great for sensitive skin: meadowfoam oil, rosehip seed oil, and blue tansy. When I use it, my skin looks radiant afterwards. I haven’t used it long enough to say for certain I’ll buy it again, but it’s definitely looking that way. Sunscreen: elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 One of my biggest but arguably most necessary splurges. This has been my favorite SPF for years, because there’s nothing like it. There’s no better high SPF mineral sunscreen on the market, both of which are necessary for folks with rosacea. It’s also unscented, a little goes a long way, and it absorbs into the skin pretty well. This is the only sunscreen I would recommend from what’s currently out there.

Learning to be patient!!
On November 1st I started my tretinoin journey and it has been one heck of a journey!! After finally getting through the worst of the purge pictured here, I can finally say I have no active acne! And I think the largest player here is actually SPIRONOLACTONE. My acne didn’t start until I had my Mirena IUD placed, so it makes sense that I needed to fix the hormones. Now to handle the scarring (patiently)... Routine: spironolactone 50 mg 1x a day Apostrophe - Spironolactone AM: Simple - Kind to Skin Micellar Cleasing Water or just a splash of water Spot treat with benzoyl peroxide and erythromycin cream ——> with no active acne I’m going to switch to cocokind - Vitamin c serum with sea grape caviar to help with the hyperpigmentation 🤞 indoor day: OLAY - Complete Lotion All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 15 for Sensitive Skin outdoor day: VANICREAM - Lite Lotion Krave - The Beet Shield PM: THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser Tretinoin cream .1% (3-4 times a week) Hydroquinone (2x a week) CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream Moisture helpers: Krave - Great Barrier Relief LA ROCHE-POSAY - Cicaplast Baume B5 for Dry Skin Irritations

Update with the Process...
I'm going to be totally honest😔 I know it has only been a month with Apostrophe (and other recommended products by their derm) but so far I am not liking the outcomes. The first week I started off by putting the prescription on 3 nights a week. My face definitely got irritated the first night which led to my decision on limiting the usage. I started to use the prescription everyday by the 3rd week. Since then I have not felt like I've had any improvements on my acne. I am not giving up just yet, but I do hope to see some improvement at least by March. 🤞 🌼Apostrophe - Topical Formula 🌼CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion 🌼CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin 🌼CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser 🌼Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer
A little over 2 months results
I’ve been on 100mg /day of spiralactone. No side effects now. I think I had a bit of dizziness in the beginning but my blood pressure and potassium levels were always fine. I’ve stopped breaking out in cysts and very rarely a Pimple here and there . My face is healing now . I’m just dealing with all the post inflammatory hyperpigmentation marks now (PIH). I’ve also been using 0.025% clindamycin /clindamycin from apostrophe every night for the past 2 months also. I’ve just gotten 6%hydroquinone cream to add to my regimen . And so I’m hoping that will help out more so with the PIH Spirolactone and the tretinoin/clindamycin had done wonders for my hormonal acne !

It’s empty and...it’s worth it!
Hiya! I was lucky enough to receive this elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 from a giveaway through@cherie(thank you 🥰🥰). It actually lasted me way longer than I thought it would and... I miss it. The good: + Feels like a very light-weight moisturizer + Works well with all types of makeup on top (no pilling) + Easy to reapply and absolutely no white cast + Great packaging, I love the pump + Definitely plays well with active acne and general acne prone skin + Absolutely zero skin irritation, it feels very very gentle + Doesn’t leave skin oily or too shiny The not so good: - It’s actually kind of hard to find... so to buy this I need to either order online or pick up from a dermatologist. It’s not a super affordable sunscreen, but I’m okay to invest a little bit more money in sunscreen. And this also feels like it’s worth the price tag. I’m currently working on another bottle of sunscreen but once that’s done I’m likely going to be going back this one. If I can find it 🙈 Ps I have combo, acne prone skin
Ok guys if you been following me my bumps are starting to dry up and now I have dark spots. My right side is completely healed and the left is my trouble side. After seeing my dermatologist for my follow up appointment she went up on the dose of the retinoid I use at night. If you are wondering my routine this is what I'm using. Also go look at my old pics to see where I started from. Neutrogena - Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask I love this as it dries out my bumps LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser I use this at night and love how it's super light CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion light way and keeps face moisturizer at night elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I use the tinted version now great for black girls only in the morning and I do two fingers when I apply it The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I just started using it super light weight. I started as a suggestion to help purging. Haven't told my dermatologist I'm using it but it has made the bumps on the right side calm down so so far so good. I'll update this to five stars after I have enough data to support if it really works.CeraVe - Healing Ointment I use when I experience dryness from the winter. A lot goes a long way .
👩🔬My Tretinoin Journey ~ 8 Weeks in
Hi all! I started tretinoin / retin-a about 8 weeks ago for the first time. I got my prescription from Curology specifically seeking tretinoin, which I told my doctor so he would be sure to prescribe it to me! Always tell them if you’re looking for a specific ingredient! 👩🔬What is tretinoin/Retin-A? Tretinoin is a Retinoid; retinoids are derivatives of Vitamin A (retinol, retinaldehyde, retinal, isotretinoin, adapalene are others.) Tretinoin’s intended and approved use is for acne, as it was created for acne treatment, but it is very often prescribed for anti aging and skin texture because through the decades of research, doctors found it was great for reducing wrinkles and large pores and repairing sun damage. Tretinoin increases cell turnover and exfoliates the top layers of our skin Decreases the shedding of dead skin cells into our pores + decreases inflammation It works much more deeply and much more effectively than its non-prescription counterparts, such as regular retinol Although strengths cannot be compared across the board, it has been observed that retinol is roughly 20 times less potent than tretinoin Decades of research confirm tretinoin as the holy grail, “gold-standard” in topical treatments for fighting acne + clogged pores, as well as smoothing out fine lines + wrinkles, reducing pigmentation from damage, and evening the skin texture 🙋♀️Who should use tretinoin? Tretinoin is suitable for most people; the only people who should be wary of it are those who have extremely sensitive skin, rosacea ❌Do not use tretinoin or any retinoids when pregnant or breastfeeding!❌ Dermatologists say that tretinoin is a great option for comedonal acne since it exfoliates + prevents plugging of the pores 💊Using/starting Tretinoin - tips from me + my dermatologist I’d recommend starting with tretinoin in a lotion/cream formula as it tends to be less harsh than the gel due to having soothing ingredients included in the formula. Curology has a cream formula that I absolutely love LOW + SLOW : start with a low dose (ask your doctor and give them your history) + go slowly with use. My derm recommended starting M W F of each week but do it less if you are experiencing too much irritation always follow instructions + advice from your dermatologist. With curology, I am able to send my provider messages and pictures with concerns and requests Simplify your routine! I did cut back to hydrating cleanser(s), hydrating toner or essence, thick moisturizer, my curology formula, + an oil on top to lock it all in. As your skin accustoms you will be able to slowly work those treatment products back in SPF ALWAYS🌞 I started tretinoin at 0.005% and upped to 0.01% after one month and I am seeing smoother skin and smaller pores, with very little purging. Pictures are from ordered from oldest to new except the first which compares starting with 8 weeks. FAB Instant Oatmeal Mask: Honest Review
FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask Oats are one of my favorite ingredients for soothing the skin. They’re gentle, provide hydration, and even help clarify the skin. This mask is meant to be left on for 10 minutes and has small bits of oats in it. After removing the mask, my skin does feel smooth and hydrated, but not nearly as much as I would hope. My comparison point is the Kiehl’s avocado mask, and while this FAB mask does hydrate my skin it doesn’t pack the punch I was hoping for. For heavier duty hydration, I’ll turn back to Kiehl’s or Naturium’s sleeping cream. I think this mask may be preferable for more oily skin types needing just a small boost for the winter or for hydration during warmer seasons when my skin isn’t so dry. As always, this mask is rosacea and sensitive skin safe. I don’t think I’ll be buying it again unless there’s another big sale (this was 40% off) during a warmer season, but I’m going to continue using this whenever I just want to add something gentle to my routine for the day! If you want an oat product from FAB, I would highly recommend their toner instead. Since incorporating the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner into my skincare routine, my skin has been so much more hydrated and happy. This mask is $24 whereas the toner is $22, so it’s also a little cheaper. 😉 What was your experience like with this mask? Do you have any hydrating masks to recommend for sensitive skin types?
Week 5 of Tretinoin + BIG STORYTIME
The dreaded purging period! Sorry for the late post—this is my progress form last week—- This is the end of my fifth week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. Since last week, I have made some significant changes to my routine, for reasons to be told at the end of the post. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so they have been prescribed by a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. I have normal, but dehydrated skin. I’m looking to add more in as I adjust to treatment. My routine is as follows: AM HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 (I reapply with this spf every 2 hours) PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule 40ml (for added hydration!) HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Apostrophe formula (using this after moisturizer so I can have a buffer between the tret and my skin) CeraVe - Healing Ointment The purging period, yeah that’s still happening 😩 Ok, so I was previously using the Aveeno spf. The white cast on this was horrendous, so I have been finding myself harshly rubbing the sunscreen in to get rid of the cast. And since I would reapply every two hours, I’d repeat this process frequently throughout the day. After a while, the consequences of harshly rubbing my face became obvious. For the past two weeks, my skin was ultra sensitive. My face stung while touching it. The Cerave hydrating cleanser and Cerave moisturizer for normal to dry skin would BURN. However, none of the other products I used burned. So, I ditched the Aveeno SPF, thanks to a very helpful commenter, and bought the Purito Centella Unscented Sunscreen and... white cast begone! I love to use the Supergoop glow stick to reapply because it leaves my face with a fresh glow. I no longer needed to rub my face so harshly. Yet only the Cerave cleanser and moisturizer still continued to sting. So, I switched my cleanser and moisturizer to Honest Beauty. I have used these products in the past, and loved them. I’ve never had a problem. So I used them, and no sting! I still have no idea why the Cerave cleanser and moisturizer continues to sting now. But for now, I’m halting use.

Week 6 of Tretinoin + Progress
Looking back on my progress (Before and after) This is the end of my sixth week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. - Glow Stick SPF 50 (I use his to reapply SPF every 2 hours) PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule 40ml HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Apostrophe Tretinoin Formula CeraVe - Healing Ointment I can see my purging period slowly coming to a close. Whereas I got about (if we’re counting) 4 new bumps per day, I now get about 1 a day. And these ones disappear relatively quickly, so within 2 days max. The purging period is definitely the hardest because your skin is literally at its worst. All the congestion is coming to the surface. It’s really hard to lose sight of the progress you’ve made and feel like Tretinoin isn’t working so that’s why taking photos is important. So, I’ve chosen to show my progress from July 17 to today, September 3rd. This really gives me a glimmer of hope, as I was feeling pretty down while purging. Compared to others my progress is slow, because I slowly worked up to daily usage of Tretinoin. And every individual has a different experience with the purging period. For some it may last only 2 weeks or a month, and for others it may last 3-4 months. There’s no telling by looking at only other’s individual experiences how your experience will go. I really want to combat the hyperpigmentation left over from before and during the purging period (PIE and PIH). So once I’m sure my inflammatory acne is completely gone, I want to consider adding in another product to increase the speed at which my marks fade.

Sensitive - Combo Summer Face Routine
I’ve posted about many of these products individually, but I thought I’d share how I combine them in my relatively simple routine. For reference, my skin is very finnicky (eczema-prone, acne-prone, and very reactive). 🌤SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Gel Hydrating Gel With Hyaluronic Acid The only reason for the docked star, is the prohibitive price. My mom got this for me as a gift when my skin was freaking out. It’s a fantastic hydrating serum that is thick and soothing! I apply after a thorough rinse to damp skin. When I run out, I’ll replace this either with Maelove’s hydrating serum (as the ingredients are similar) or I may try out their popular Glow Maker serum! 🌤DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil Pat on 3 drops of jojoba oil then use my roller around my eyes and brow bone. 🌤KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 Smooth an even layer for extra moisture and sun protection. The initial shine will dry down and give a nice non-greasy glow. +++ 🌙ACURE - Seriously Soothing Cleansing Cream Massage this in for 30 sec - 1 min, focusing on the T zone and where I’m wearing makeup 🌙CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream (repairing) OR MAELOVE - Night Renewer (exfoliating) with DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil I dot one of the creams around my face, add a few drops of oil and blend together. You can also “lock in” your moisturizer by patting the oil on top, but since these creams are a bit heavier, I like to mix them so everything has a chance to absorb. 🌤🌙Vaseline - Lip Therapy, Advanced Healing Skin Protectant I use this all the time- only wish is it came in the cocoa butter formula! I may try out one of the tins.. but seriously- no chapped lips in the 2 years I’ve been using this! I’d love to hear questions/comments/feedback :)

💕organization & how to move with skincare💕
I’m moving soon and figured I should share my current organization for my skincare. I share a bathroom and wanted a way to keep all of my products to one drawer but still be able to see and have easy access to everything. I got this clear organizer from TJ Maxx (I have another for my makeup products). It fits nicely in my drawer and I love that I am able to find and pick out a product quickly. As for my cleansers, they just kind of float around everywhere. I like to keep 1-2 in my shower and 1-2 next to my bathroom sink on the counter. I just finished packing away (most of) my skin care and makeup by making sure everything was sealed to not leak and breakable packaging was wrapped up. In case you are curious, the last picture are the products that I’m leaving out and will go in my overnight bag to move. I’ll list all of this at the end because I think this selection could make a good minimal AM/PM routine on its own. But of course, I have to be more extra than that! 😉 Let me know if you want me to share my new #shelfie when I get settled at my new place! Here the list of my products I’m keeping readily available for the move: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin NATURIUM - Vitamin C Complex Serum NATURIUM - Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5% CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum VERSED - THE SHORTCUT Overnight Facial Peel CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

Week 2 of Barrier Repair
After doing some more research I changed my routine to the following in Week 2: AM CLEANSE: washed face with water TREATMENT: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 MOISTURISER: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream EYE CREAM: CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream SUNSCREEN: PAULA'S CHOICE - Calm Mineral Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 PM PRE-CLEANSE: GARNIER - Micellar Milk Cleansing Water for dry and sensitive skin, this has been amazing and so gentle on my skin CLEANSE: CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin this is a nice gentle cleanser, as of yet I am not sure of the long term benefits but it doesn’t leave my skin dry/tight after washing. Will continue to see how it goes. TREATMENT: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 this definitely leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated after use. But unsure if hydrating enough. EYE CREAM: CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream still haven’t seen any improvements with this. MOISTURISER: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream as soon as I started using this my skin improved dramatically over night, I no longer had red rashy-looking bumps on my upper cheek. Even my husband noticed and complimented how my skin looked in the morning after just one use !! So this is a winner. Although, I am thinking as I get closer to summer I will go back to The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA as I tend to get oily in the tzone and it is lighter than the DE moisturiser. Please tell me what you think of my routine. I am also looking at adding a chemical exfoliator, as I have deep black heads and visible pores across my cheeks and nose. And I get hormonal acne along my jawline. Suggestions on where to take my routine next are welcome. We have come out of winter and going into spring. The sun is out but the air outside is still quite nippy so havent started getting oily just yet.

Fungal acne routine & getting rid of it forever!
I’ve struggled with malassezia Folliculitis/fungal acne for 6 months. My skin’s improved but you do need patience! Now I breakout occasionally, have redness and pigmentation. Disclaimer: Everyone’s different & this is what I’ve learnt. Leave suggestions below! Treatments: I ruined my gut health and ended getting constant yeast infections which links to malassezia as both are overgrowths of fungus/yeast! I recommend an anti-candida diet. Celery juice, apple cider vinegar in water, probiotics and supplements to boost my immune system all helped. I used Folliculitis scout to search for malassezia-safe products. I’ve used other websites and tbh some of them aren’t accurate or their recommended products broke me out. Every oil (except squalane & MCT), fatty acids and lipids is used by malassezia to grow! Once you eliminate these (which is hard), you can use glycerin or amino acids in your skincare routine and makeup bc they need oil, lipids or fatty acids for malassezia to grow off them. Skin barrier health and moisture is important. Don’t use too many treatments bc your skin will just get sensitive, dry and produce more oils. Also the Nizoral shampoo will ruin your skin barrier even if it kills malassezia off. There are other ways to treat it! Skincare routine: Morning: Benton - Deep Green Tea Toner green tea extract inhibits and combats malassezia. It’s a soothing and moisturising toner/essence. It’s antibacterial properties can target other types of acne too. skinstitut - Vitamin C 100% mix w/moisturiser for pigmentation/scarring Like I'm Five - All Day Soothing Gel Lotion I LOVE THIS. It has xylitol that combats malassezia, glycerin and hyaluronic acid as humectants and panthenol for healing. It’s on iherb for 12 AUD too! A steal! The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane squalane has helped my skin go from oily to normal, hence stopping your skin from over producing sebum where malassezia grows. elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 have had a hard time finding a good sunscreen this is one of the few malassezia safe sunscreens. Helps with hyper pigmentation. Nighttime: BIODERMA - Sensibio H2O Soothing Micellar Cleansing Water have tried others and always go back to this. Tried MCT oil, it’s malassezia-safe but oil cleansing is time consuming for me personally. ETUDE - Soon Jung, pH 6.5 Whip Cleanser I’ve tried vanicream but this massively changed my skin. facetheory - PoreBright Serum N10 only use on problem areas 2x a week. Salicylic & azelaic combats malassezia. Or AZCLEAR - Medicated Lotion Benton - Deep Green Tea Toner Like I'm Five - All Day Soothing Gel Lotion The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane
