Oily skin moisturizer awards 🤩
To piggy back on my “oily skin still needs a moisturizer” post I thought I’d present my oily skin moisturizer awards to give a boost to three of my favorites. I wanted to start this out by stating I do have very oily skin. My main concerns are large appearing pores, uneven skin tone, dullness/dehydration. A great summer moisturizer for oily skin!
a.My skin type is combination, often with hormonal acne during parts of the month. I generally have pretty balanced skin! b.This product is an oil-free moisturizer meant for oilier skin types, and it mattifies the skin and prepares it for sunscreen! c.The texture is so beautiful! It’s a creamy gel that sinks in really quickly and definitely mattifies the skin. It does not leave a dewy finish at all. The packaging and color of the product are beautiful, just as all Farmacy products! d.Sometimes my skin can feel a little dry after using this so I tend to use it on days when I feel oily or know I’m going to follow with a dewy sunscreen. I also only use this in the mornings after my vitamin c serum, since I prefer heavier moisturizers for my nighttime routine! e.I would recommend this to my friends with oily or combination skin! I would rate this product a 4/5 stars because the smell can be offputting to some people (all natural ingredients), and it is a bit expensive. However, I believe the cream does exactly what it says it will, so it’s a solid choice for the summer months too! Farmacy Faves 💚
Farmacy has quickly become a hot market brand! They preach green beauty and skincare with natural ingredients that work! I’ve had the pleasure of try quite a bit from their line but these were my 1st products I ever tried from them! FARMACY - Daily Greens Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer with Moringa and Papaya this moisturizer is a great moisturizer for the day, the smell is fresh and light and the color is very vibrant! For my dry skin I need something a little more intense for the night time but I love this product for the day after my morning cleanse! FARMACY - Lip Bloom this lip bloom is such an interesting scent, very summery and I’m obsessed. Although I don’t notice a ton of hydration it’s perfect before my makeup and the smell is pleasant! I do like it, but I have other products that work better for hydration!

The Truth Behind Propylene Glycol
You may have read articles about this ingredient used in both kitchens and beauty counters - Propylene Glycol (PG) but what exactly is this chemical? I decided to do some research on credible sources online to find out if the ingredient is beneficial for my combination skin. A colorless and odorless liquid that is completely water-soluble, PG is mainly regarded as a moisturizing agent used in skincare products to attract hydration and locks it into the skin. Generally, anyone who is seeking deep hydration and smoothness of the skin can use products containing the ingredient. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review board (an organization of scientists who review the safety of cosmetic ingredients) have confirmed that it’s ”safe for use in cosmetic products when formulated to be non-irritating.” This means that companies need to conduct skin irritation testing on new formulas to ensure PG does not cause irritation when mixed with other ingredients, which is a standard test that many skincare companies run before launching any new product. As long as you do not have an allergy to PG, it is a safe ingredient to use regularly. Due to its multiple functions, PG works well with almost all other ingredients. While I do not specifically seek products that contain PG, I find that products that contain PG helps to hydrate my combination skin well, giving it a dewy glow throughout the day. Other than its main function as an emollient, there are also various other benefits, including addressing visible signs of aging, enhancing penetration of the skincare product, and prevent skin hydration loss. I have two products containing PG in my bathroom counter now. I use Nivea Oxygen Boost Micellar Water as a make-up cleanser before my gentle facial wash. Micelles in the liquid cleanser help to attract water, oil and the dirt that comes with them, which is effective when combined with a cotton pad or wipe work to remove stubborn make-up. Micellar water works well for my combination skin as a gentle and hydrating cleanser that is powerful to remove water resistant make-up at the same time. My skin does not feel too tight and taut after using this, thanks to its water based formula of hyaluronic acid, golden algae, Hydra IQ and marine salt. Another product containing PG is CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly. The lightweight water-jelly face moisturizer looks and feels different than most creams. The unique clear water-jelly texture feels fresh and penetrates quickly into my skin, especially for hot summer days. It delivers round-the-clock hydration repair, plus pollution protection with the formula’s “Clean Shield Technology”, formulated with a moisture barrier blend of sunflower seed cake, barley extract and cucumber fruit extract to strengthen skin’s barrier and retain skin’s moisture levels. On days when I want a lighter and more refreshing moisturizer, this is a nice change of texture.
The secret to GLOWING skin!!!
goodal - Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum Set The Goodal Green Tangerine Serum helps add moisture to my skin. I especially like applying this at night so it can help in healing and repairing my skin as I go to sleep. It doesn’t feel very sticky even if it’s a serum, and my skin easily absorbs it. When I started using it consistently, I noticed my skin brightening and there are no additional dark spots on my cheeks. A couple of pumps is what I really need with this one. When I wake up in the morning, my skin feels so supple and soft so I know it is really working. CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly As soon as I am done with my toner and serums, I apply the Clinique Anti-Pollution Moisturizer. I like using this during the day before I go out because it feels really light on my skin. It works well with my dry combination skin type by keeping it hydrated and preventing it from drying out. It has a jelly consistency, and is lighter than a cream so this is perfect for those who have oily skin too. My skin absorbs it easily and it’s perfect for daily use.

😑Cute BUT Useless😑 I really want to love it, BUT...
When GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask was first launched, it was out of stock everywhere. My first impression of this sleeping mask was great as it looks cute and smells good, but it turned out that besides that, it was practically useless. It has a weird texture and I see a layer of oil on top when I open the jar. I have combo skin. I tried applying it with the oil and without the oil, but both leave my skin greasy and it can't be fully absorbed. As a moisturizing mask, it's not moisturizing at all, it doesn't absorb and you can still see the dry lines on my skin after I apply it. It smells like watermelon in the jar but once applied, it gives off a strong smell of alcohol. The layer of grease on my skin enlarges my pores instantly. The alpha hydroxy acid in it didn't work at all either. It might even cause acne breakouts. There's no way this can be used as a sleeping mask. It's even hard to wash off with just water when it's applied thickly and I need to use a facial cleanser to get it off. In conclusion, it's just an expensive and greasy aloe vera gel which can't be absorbed by my skin. Have you used this product? How do you like it? Comment here!👀
Why you should choose chemical exfoliation 🖤
Exfoliation is such an important, and sometimes over looked part of a skincare routine. You need to get rid of the dead skin cells in order for the new, fresh ones to shine through. You also want to eliminate any spaces for sebum to hide under which is turn clogs the follicle and results in acne. 9 times out of 10 I will always recommend a chemical exfoliator. Unlike physical exfoliators, which use scrubs to slough off the dead skin, chemical exfoliator use acids or enzymes to loosen the bonds between cells so they can easily be washed away. Physical exfoliators often contain harsh ingredients, like walnut shell powder, that can create micro tears in the skin. It’s also very easy to go overboard with. With a chemical exfoliator as long as you’re using it properly they are a lot gentler. I have oily skin so I prefer glycolic acid (if you have dry you might prefer lactic acid). I always exfoliate my face once a week with glycolic acid. My personal favorite right now is the StriVectin - Glycolic Skin Reset Mask . After cleansing my skin I apply the mask and leave on for 5 minutes at least once a week. With this mask my skin always feels a lot smoother afterwards. I’ve seen a good reduction in the texture of my skin. Exfoliating once a week will help your skincare work even better since it doesn’t have layers of dead skin to go through. It helps those with acne prone skin because you don’t have places for sebum to get trapped and it will also help even out any post acne hyperpigmentation. If you’re just wanting to get into chemical exfoliating I would definitely do research on it first. Always do a patch test to make sure you don’t have a bad reaction and work your way up to it slowly. Always follow the directions as well so you don’t burn your face. I say do it once a week and see how your skin feels because there is such a thing as too much exfoliation. Also, when you do exfoliate don’t put anything harsh on the skin afterwards as it’s going to penetrate deeper than it normally would with the fresh skin.
HYDRATION is the KEY I suffered from having an oily skin over the years because apparently my skin is dehydrated and lacks moisture. It reacts pretty badly with cream type moisturizers so I opt for gel/warter-based and that brings me with my 𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐓 : 'Bird's Nest Aqua Water Sleeping Pack' from snp. 💦 It hydrates my skin, keeping it moist and plump eversince I started using it. My skin went from uber oily to normal and I can't even remember when was the last time I used a blotting paper. 💦 My only qualm is the packaging. I wish it came with a tube or pump glass bottle. 1 sachet is good for 2-3 uses but I am planning to open them all and transfer it to a tub because I am more comfortable using it by scooping the right amount of product using a spatula. 🌟 𝐌𝐘 𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 : 4.5/5 - it could have been a 5 if not for the packaging. I am trying to minimize the wastes on my skincare products so I prefer the reusable and glass containers, but this kind of packaging is preferable for traveling. What's your go-to products when it comes to hydration? 💦

One of the best hydration products in winter
CHANTECAILLE - Jasmine and Lily Healing Mask I’m so excited to share this gorgeous sleeping mask here. It’s the most frequently used products of mine. Like it a lot!!! 💜I’m almost using it everyday. ✨Product description: A blend of Jasmine and Lily is incredibly soothing for dehydrated skin. Vitamin B5 and camomile are soothing and softening. Red Seaweed extract helps mositurize. ✨Mine experience: I’m combination skin (more like dry). Often, I use this mask as face cream for its extension and super lightweight texture. It can be extended well on the skin that being absorbed well. The scent is very light and I like it. My skin feels very hydrated and soothing after using it. More than that, the pores look much better. For me, it can be a replacement product of Chantecaille’s bio lift mask (my last favorite mask) for its smell and the next day look of my skin. While, the price of it is much more lower than bio lift mask. If you want something hydrating and soothing, this healing mask is a good choice. ✨ The mask is good for all skin type, and friendly for sensitive skin. I got it in Neiman Marcus. I think it’s also available in Bloomingdale’s, Saks and Barneys.

Youth to the people duo!!
Happy Wednesday✨ @youthtothepeople is a brand I came across via Instagram and the ingredients really looked clean and simple. I first tried their adaptogen mist which is such a fine mist yet so refreshing and Hydrating and makes my skin look clean. I used that mist all throughout the summer last year and their kombucha toner and super berry glow oil was equally a hit for me. Loved that! Their adaptogen products which included a travel size mist, travel size moisture cream and a full size adaptogen moisture cream. I have enjoyed the mist in the past and was so happy to get a travel size one because it's so convenient to travel with or just keep in my bag when I'm out. The Adaptogen deep moisture cream is a product I'm reaching out so much lately. Its so light weight and sinks right into my skin. My skin looks healthy and hydrated and the moisture it gives is enough for my combination skin. I think for dry skin people this might not be Hydrating enough on its own. It has squalane which boosts skin hydration and minimize the risk of clogged pores. It also has Ashwagandha which helps reduce signs of fatigue and Reishi which hydrates, detoxifies and prevents premature aging. - - Have you used any @youthtothepeople products? How is your week going so far?

herbivore Pink Cloud ☁️ Rosewater Moisture Creme. • My sensitive skin peeps🙋🏼♀️ this moisturizer is great for you (everyone can obviously use this) but it’s gentle enough for sensitive skin. It has a very light rose 🥀 smell to it that I happen to love. Although it is a light moisturizer, It keeps your skin soft and dewy. The rosewater, aloe, white tea 🍵 and rice extract definitely keep your skin hydrated. I will say it is not an intense hydrating 💧 creme. I tend to use it during the day because it is light, not at all greasy and definitely doesn’t clog your pores.

B𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐬 💙B𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐬 🧡B𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐬 A brand that has been on my wish list since I saw a lot of people raving about it. Not really impressed with how impressive it looks like but I still wanna try more of their stuff except the masks because not a fan of their masks anymore TBH. B𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 I𝐝𝐞𝐚 V𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 C + T𝐫𝐢-P𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐞 Collagen protecting eye cream. It’s only been a month since I started using this each night and it could take long but by far the only thing that I’m going to continue using for a few more months, as eye creams usually take months to show any results. Any vitamin C lovers who look for the same in eye creams should definitely try this. M𝐢𝐧𝐭 C𝐡𝐢𝐩 M𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 Cooling & Soothing Ice cream textured mask. A bit too drying for my oily skin, I’m mostly fine (Not sensitive) to any masks tho, This gives me a real hard time washing away, the mask Smells like mint and that’s about it. P𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐤𝐢𝐧 P𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 Resurfacing & Exfoliating Enzyme mask. With very strong fragrance, This exfoliating mask literally irritated my skin so bad. I gently tried to wash away but felt my skin heated up and burning.bliss - Bright Idea Vitamin C + Tri-Peptide Collagen Protecting & Brightening Moisturizer bliss - Pumpkin Powerhouse Resurfacing & Exfoliating Enzyme Mask bliss - Mint Chip Mania Mask

Youthtothepeople Adaptogen Moisturizer
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi This moisturizer is targeted towards dry to normal skin, but actually works very well with my combo skin. The texture is very rich, but still lightweight in my opinion. It’s not a thick cream, but works like one without clogging my pores. I only use a pea size for my whole face and it even works under makeup. I love how this makes me wake up with smooth but still hydrated skin and it never broke me out. Would recommend for all skin types, even oily skin could give it a try. One of my favorites!
