My first ever “balm” foundation 🖤
I’ve used liquid, powder, and stick foundations but never a balm before. Kevyn Aucoin Beauty gifted me their foundation balm. This unique foundation retails for $52 for .07 oz. It comes in 20 shades which I personally find really lacking. I really like the slim packaging as it’s really easy to store in my collection and it does come with its own buffing brush. I’m personally a sponge kind of person so I use a sponge to apply this to my face. I was shocked at how lightweight and natural it looks when applied. I was expecting it to feel really heavy because it is a balm but it feels and looks like skin. It’s full coverage but I still have a few spots that peek through (which is expected and happens for me with any foundation). I just take a little bit more on my sponge and I can easily build up in areas I need without it looking cakey. I personally think this foundation looks better without setting it with a powder. That being said with or without a powder this does transfer on me. If anything slightly touches my face it does rub off. I personally have oily skin and it does break apart the tiniest bit on me because it doesn’t “dry down” like other foundations I own but that’s also to be expected with the formula. I think this would be a fabulous winter foundation or a really amazing option for someone with more dry skin. It does have hyaluronic acid and avocado oil so if you need a foundation that has a little bit more to it for hydration this would be it. I have the shade Light 02 and I find it matches me pretty well and I don’t notice any oxidizing. All in all this isn’t my absolute favorite foundation but I do like it under certain conditions. I do think it’s over priced and I don’t like the fact you don’t get a full fluid ounce but if it’s something you’ve been interested in I think it’s definitely worth a try.

kati0427I've used this kind once but it was too hard to pick up. Maybe I should use a sponge like you did

Trying out a foundation balm...
I was so excited to try out this KEVYN AUCOIN - KEVYN AUCOIN Foundation Balm because first, I haven’t put makeup on in a minute, and second, I had never heard of a foundation balm before! I found this product to have a medium but buildable coverage. The texture of this balm was smooth and soft and was really easy to transfer onto my face. It came with a little brush but I personally found it easier to blend with a beauty blender. The one thing about this balm was I either need a really dewy or hydrating base, or I need to mix in something hydrating to the product itself because it was a little dry. But if you have naturally oily skin I think this would be a great option for you! Overall, I ended up enjoying how this product looked on my skin. For $52, I don’t know if I would repurchase as it isn’t my favorite foundation I’ve used, but it is a fun new way to use a foundation!
❤️ LOVE IT!
When I first heard about this product I had no idea what “foundation balm” meant or if it would be the right fit for my large pores and oily skin, but I am so so glad I tried it! I have medium skin with yellow undertones Large pores and oily skin that’s sensitive It comes in a wide variety of color options so you can get your match just right The coverage is AMAZING! A couple of taps and you get this wonderful blur and a couple more taps of the brush into the balm and you get a more full coverage. Light or full coverage it doesn’t matter both are flawless. It doesn’t dry or crack or make my oily skin more oily. I get a nice matte-type finish that doesn’t settle into my pores. I finish with either a setting powder or spray and it doesn’t budge even on hot and humid days. I haven’t experienced any balling up with this as I have with other foundations I’ve tried as it plays nice with my skincare routine and other makeup products. A little goes a long way so even though the price may be higher than some it is going to last you a long time. Note: HSN carries a limited selection of color options on their website and app
Favorite Primer - MARC JACOBS UNDER(COVER)
MARC JACOBS - Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer in 30 INVISIBLE WHAT IT IS? Face Primer WHAT IS DOES: Makes you makeup last longer. Smooths skin while also hydrating and nourishing. Ideal for normal to dry skin. TEXTURE/CONSISTENCY: Lightweight gel-cream consistency. White color. OVERALL THOUGHTS: I have dry skin and I have to wear primer every single time I wear foundation otherwise it would look dry, cakey and just not good. That’s why I looove this primer. It’s hydrating, doesn’t pill under foundation and makes my makeup last all day. It’s lightweight, doesn’t have strong scent and it just works perfectly for my dry skin. This is my absolute favorite primer!! WHY I LIKE/DISLIKE IT: I love how lightweight and hydrating it is. It feels amazing on my dry skin. WOULD I RECOMMEND IT ? If you have dry skin DEFINITELY give this one a try. It’s amazing!!! IS IT WORTH IT? 1oz/ 30ml/ $45 It’s on the pricier side but well worth it. I wasn’t able to find cheaper dupe so far.

This foundation is everything and more! It has light to medium coverage. I have dry skin and it does not cling to my dry patches. It’s long lasting and has a skin like finish. It’s just a beautiful formula! Worth every penny! I will save it for special occasions though. 🙈

Can’t apply my makeup without this must have pro
Laura Mercier’s “Foundation Primer” - $38 (1.7oz) laura mercier - Hydrating Pure Canvas Primer I’ve used many different primers before settling on this one by Laura Mercier. I’ve used this one exclusively for awhile now and it’s been working wonders for me. Here’s some of the things I’ve liked about this product: Not Sticky - Most primers I’ve used caused my skin to feel extremely sticky, which is something I really dislike because it makes me feel dirty. This primer doesn’t have that sticky feel to it. Buildable - I’ve applied many different types of make up on top of this primer and never had an issue with ball ups. Blend-able - This primer is very thin, which is probably why it does not have that sticky feel to it. But it also makes it so that it is easy to apply make up on top without the make up being unable to blend in with the primer. Long lasting - One of the most important things that I’ve noticed about this primer is that it has caused my make up to last a lot longer. Usually I’ll have to fix my makeup atleast once throughout the day, but after using this primer, I’ve rarely had to fix my make up in the middle of my day. Affordable - Despite the price being $38, I think this is very affordable because you can use it for a long time.

Kosas Tinted Face Oil
You can see the glow! Here I am wearing the Kosas - Tinted Face Oil Foundation in tone 03. It’s a good match for my light skin with neutral-olive undertones. The foundation oil is exactly how it sounds - pigment suspended in botanical oils for a skin fusion effect. It melts into the skin and does a good job at evening out the overall tone of the complexion. It truly has a skin-like finish that looks natural. I took a star off because it can really cling to dry patches. But with exfoliation, it really helps. I found this to be mainly around my nose and chin where I tend to be dry. In the summer, when I don’t have dry patches, this isn’t a problem at all. I find this foundation does not wear well with a primer. It applies best right after skincare, on top of a light facial oil pressed into the skin. You only need a couple drops of the Kosas foundation oil to cover your whole face. I find it applies best using my fingers. I really enjoy it because it’s like a blend of skincare and makeup. I also love that Kosas is a clean brand. This oil is silicone free and free.

Why I think this product is well worth the hype
laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder I think most of us have heard or used the Laura Mercier translucent powder. I’ve used this for years but never really questioned how good it really is because I used it so often. Recently, I’ve tried a few other powders, namely the Maybelline Fit me loose powder and I came to realize how good this really is! Firstly, I think this product is great for all skin types. I’ve seen people with dry skin use this with great results and for me with oily skin, I love it as well. Something that it worth noting is that I had to learn how to use this properly. The whole baking trend really kicked off a few years ago and everyone was dousing their faces in a thick layer of powder. That process worked well with this powder, but it no longer works for me. It made my underyes crease and look incredibly dry. Bow, I use this very sparingly on the underyee area with a wet sponge and dab it into the skin. I occasionally do bake in between my eyebrows because I get super oily there. With that process in mind, this is really the best powder for it. What makes this special is that it doesn’t dry out the skin or look cakey. It’s just fine enough to look smooth and airbrushed on the skin. Applying this sparingly, I haven’t had an issue with it caking up throughout the day. That’s not something I can say about every powder. For $39, this is an investment. But I think if you have the means to purchase this, you can make it last a really long time and make it work for you and your skin needs.

Matching my Skin tone with NARS and MUFE
My two product must-haves that match my warm but fair skin tone are NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla and MUFE Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation. They are my go-to products, which I am wearing in this photo. NARS Creamy Concealer has a great texture and blends well, Vanilla is one of the lightest shades and works well under my eyes and over my facial redness. MUFE HD Foundation I use a few different shades depending on the season, but I stick to the warm toned fair shades. The formula is great and it really blends well into my skin for great full coverage.
