Clay Masks for Oily Skin; Pass or Grab?

I have oily skin so I tend to gravitate more towards clay masks. My main concerns with my skin are my apparent pores, uneven skin tone, and acne (which I thankfully have under control with my current routine). Over the past few months I’ve been using these masks off and on and I’ve really gotten a feel for them. My favorite mask is the StriVectin - Blue Rescue Clay Renewal Mask
. It is also the most expensive at $48 but you get 3.2 oz of product. StriVectin claims this mask will reduce the look of fine lines, enlarged pores, rough texture, dullness, and the signs of the fatigue. It has a really cool massage activated technology where it goes from a white mask to a blue mask. It really highlights blue algae which soothes the skin and reduces the fine lines. It also includes white clay and shea butter to draw out impurities without stripping. My favorite thing about this mask is it doesn’t dry down and feel tight like most clay masks do. It stays wet the whole time you use it (as soon as a mask dries it’s done doing its thing so you’re getting more out of your formula this way). I usually leave it on for 10 minutes after massing it into the skin and wash off. My skin ALWAYS feels baby smooth after this. Like after this your face feels so hydrated despite being a clay mask. My face always feels and looks better after I use this. The next mask is the ORIGINS - Hello, Calm Face Mask
which is $28 for 2.5 oz. Origins claims this mask helps hydrate and soothe the skin. It highlights cannabis sativa oil from hemp which really hydrated the skin. This is also another clay mask that doesn’t dry down like your typical clay mask which I like. At first I thought I was seeing results from it but I stopped using it and when I picked it back up I wasn’t seeing anything. Like at first I thought it was helping with hydration but I don’t think it really was. It has a really strong smell which I think was irritating my face (not much but enough to not want to use it) more than it was hydrating. I wouldn’t recommend this one based on the fact it didn’t really do anything. My least favorite mask lately has been the OLE HENRIKSEN - Cold Plunge Pore Mask
which $38 for 3 oz of product. I was very lucky to have received two of these from the brand over the years. Ole Henriksen claims this cooling mask insta rly reduces the look of pores, smooths skin texture, and controls oil all day. While this mask is really cool with its blue tint I also didn’t see any results with this. It does have a cooling feeing which is cool but I’d rather not have that because it’s due to the peppermint oil in it which I’d rather not have on my face (it can be sensitizing). I was hoping it would have an affect on my large pores and super oily skin but it really did nothing for me so I’d consider this a hard pass. All masks I used once a week at night time for about 10-15 minutes.

GiaaI always feel sting when I use clay masks, that's why I prefer sheet masks. Do you have any recommendations on sheet masks?
Jun. 4, 2020
MalloryIt could be the ones that really dry down! I know those tend to do that for me if I move my face around. To be honest I don’t really use sheet masks much, I’m sorry!

You probably need this mask.
Might as well just face it... StriVectin - Blue Rescue Clay Renewal Mask probably needs to be in your arsenal immediately. No matter what your skin woes are, I can almost guarantee this mask is the answer. ⭐️ For those who are repairing their skin barrier or have over-exfoliated, there is a probiotic ferment component in this mask that will repair delicate skin, as well as balance and refresh normal or fatigued skin. It peps tired skin up instantly! ⭐️ The mask is white in the jar, but as you massage it, you quickly become as blue as a Vegas show act. That’s because it’s packed with blue algae beads that act as little texture warriors. As you massage the mask, these beads release, changing the color from white to blue. The algae beads smooth and soften skin, fade fine lines and reduce signs of aging. The morning after I used this mask for the first time, I couldn’t stop touching my face. It was sooooo soft and felt incredible. ⭐️ Red seaweed draws and locks in moisture, which makes this mask intensely hydrating without any greasiness or oiliness afterward. This mask is for every skin type - oily, dry, combination, sensitive, mature. ⭐️ Uses two types of clay as well as Shea butter to thoroughly detox skin, prevent acne breakouts and refine pores. This might be my favorite part - because this is the ONLY clay mask I’ve ever used that doesn’t dry or harden. The formula is very rich and buttery and even though you leave it on for 15 mins after massaging it to blue, it never hardens or feels chalky. It stays just as smooth as it was putting it on. This makes it easy to remove as well. Instead of feeling the crackle of a normal clay mask drying, this mask just causes a deep cooling sensation that’s very soothing. After rinsing, I could see results in my pores immediately... to have such a noticeable effect without drying out my skin in the slightest was absolutely amazing to me! It’s a little pricey, but unlike other masks I’ve purchased (looking at you, Sand and Sky), the jar is actually fairly large and filled to the brim with product so it lasts a long time. It’s safe to use with your retinols and serums in your regular routine. I can honestly say that I feel like I have brand new skin every single time I apply it. That’s worth the price - and more - to me. Have you tried it? If so, what did you think? Let me know! Also, stay tuned... I’ll be reviewing my second favorite mask ever tomorrow (a much cheaper one that is almost as amazing as this one!)
Product Empty - Blue Rescue Mask
This StriVectin - Blue Rescue Clay Renewal Mask picture is the last amount of my product in this jar! This was my first time trying out this mask and I am ready to buy this renewal mask again 🙌🏼! This multi-tasking mask minimizes the appearance of fine lines, enlarged pores, rough texture, and dullness in as little as ten minutes! The mask looks white in the jar with small blue beads and once you rub the mask into your face it becomes a lovely shade of blue💙. The mask contains blue algae, red seaweed, white clay, and Shea butter all which assist the product to function properly. This product target concerns includes: clear appearance, hydrated skin, and improvement in excess of oil reduction. All StriVectin products are also cruelty free, paraben free, and suitable for all skin types. I got this product back in July at Ulta in a sample set and was so happy I did! This mask does it all and looks pretty when it’s on the face. It’s a quick mask and can be worn as you catch up on emails or a show and then comes off with warm water. I have combination skin and this mask leaves my face feeling soft post masking session! I would 100% recommend this mask to friends and can easily be found at a local Macy’s or Ulta. The value of this mask is $48.00 for 3.2 oz. I recommend it because it’s great for all skin types, rescues your skin, and it does not dry out skin even with the clay benefits. It is worth it because you can do it under 15 minutes and use it up to two times a week. A little goes a long way and this mask will last you.
Say bye to large pores
Ole Henriksen’s Cold Plunge Pore Mask works wonders for my pores. I’ve always had huge, visible pores and I’m glad I finally found a product that makes them appear smaller. I use this mask 2-3 times a week and leave it on for about 15 minutes each time. My skin feels so refreshed and my pores are less noticeable after each use. I recommend using a serum or moisturizer with spf after immediately after the mask because it contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun. Key Ingredients that make this product top-tier: Clay-to clean your pores Snow lotus and alpine willowherb extracts- helps nourish the skin with its antioxidants Green Fusion Complex- a blend of green tea, eucalyptus, alge (kelp) and Irish moss extracts to absorb oil and refine pores Lactic acid (AHA) and salicylic acid (BHA)- removes dead skin that clogs pores Let me know your experience with the Cold Plunge Pore mask in the comments or if you plan on trying the mask! OLE HENRIKSEN - Cold Plunge Pore Mask
Worth the Plunge!?!?🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
OLE HENRIKSEN - Cold Plunge Pore Mask Hey guys so I really wanted to like this mask.... 🥶🥶🥶🥶but after breaking out about 3-4 times after using this mask I gave up and tossed it. 😖 Starting out with the pros: 🙂 I loveeee the scent.. it really is spa like and smells so fresh. 🙂 Color is cute and you look like a cute lil smurf☺️ 🙂 Mask feels sooooo good on😍 very refreshing just like the scent. Deff feels like a “cold plunge” lol. Now the cons: 😔 Broke me out almost every time I used the mask . I use to have med/severe acne but now I don’t have acne anymore and it’s rare for me to break out from a product so this one stood out to me as a no no.😢🥺 😔Lil hard to remove.. but it is a clay mask.. 😔 Didn’t notice any major changes in my skin. Made my skin a lil red after using. In conclusion, I wouldn’t purchase or use this mask again bc for me it made me break out. Would love to know everyone else’s thoughts on this mask! Yay or nay for the Cold 🥶 Plunge!?!?🤪

Some of my fave clay masks rig
Some of my fave clay masks right here! These have saved my skin the last week — my face was a bumpy, itchy, red mess just a week ago and I had to severely pare down my routine 🙃 — no actives, no serums, no toners, just my youthtothepeople cleanser, iope derma gentle cica cream, and a clay mask every third night or so. We are back to normal skin now, honestly probably better than normal! I’m thinking my face was just overloaded with product and I tried something that did not agree with me. It can be stressful feeling the pressure to try a ton of different products for review so weeks like these remind me to prioritize what my skin needs! If it ain’t broke, am I right? • Anyways, I’ve really enjoyed the mamonde clay mask. It’s comparable to my HG boscia matcha magic mask, which still has the upper hand because of how brightening it is 🍵🍵🍵 • I’ve found the sandandskya mask to be perfect for patches of breakouts. I feel like it isn’t overly drying and that’s nice in a clay mask 💕

Mamonde-Pore Clean Clay Mask
Bliss Pore Patrol Deep Detox F
Bliss Pore Patrol Deep Detox Four-Clay Soufflé Mask Geez, that’s a mouthful. This whipped mask is best suited for normal to oily skin and claims to deep clean, detoxify, and minimize the look of pores. It’s aerated w four powerful clays: French Green Montmorillonite, Bentonite, Kaolin, and Sea Clay, all used for binding toxins, impurities, and excess oils, making them easier to remove without any drying or tightening effects. It also contains Willow Bark and Glycolic Acid for gentle exfoliation to smooth and brighten the skin! Does she deliver? YES. SHE. DOES. My pores are clean, clean, clean! I have issues with hard, IMPOSSIBLE-to-extract bumps around my chin, and I’ve nearly accepted there’s nothing to be done with them, and I was, frankly, SHOCKED when they were seriously diminished after washing off this mask! Like, I’m shook, honestly. It left my skin nice and smooth, and the pores on my nose and cheeks were cleared/minimized as well. I found it to be a TOUCH drying, and I mean just a touch, but it was nothing a spritz of Mario Badescu Facial Spray couldn’t instantly solve. I will definitely be implementing this weekly, but maybe just through my T-Zone next time. If your skin is more on the oily side, it should be perfect! 10/10 recommend.
I’d rather get coal than, SkinFood’s Rice Mask
I’d rather get coal than, SkinFood’s Rice Mask
The product SkinFood’s Rice Mask is marketed as a wash off face mask targeted to enhance the smoothness of your skin while brightening your complexion. This product claims to fight against acne and aging. The consistency of this mask is clumpy yet smooth like whipped cream with bits of rice to exfoliate the skin. My opinion I decided to try this rice mask because of all the hype with K-Beauty. Overall, I don’t like it very much. After the first use I didn’t notice a difference and it actually left my skin feeling a bit dry. I gave it a week trial and decided I would not recommend it due to the fact that it just fell short to its promises. The smoothness of my skin feels the same and I still get the occasional breakouts. The cheap price point would be the only reason why I’d say it worth a try if you’re looking for a rice skin care product. SKINFOOD - Rice Wash-Off Face Mask

My favorite product to clear my pores!
My favorite product to clear my pores!
The olehenriksen cold plunge pore mask is a detoxifying, cooling clay mask that instantly reduces the look of pores, smooths skin texture, and controls oil all day! This mask can be used for oily, normal, combination, dry, and sensitive skin types which is amazing! This mask is also such a pretty teal color which is so fun to use and put on your face! This face mask can be solutions for pores, dullness and uneven texture, and oiliness. The texture of this is creamy and thick and feels so soft on my face! This has such amazing ingredients such as snow lotus, antioxidant rich botanicals, and alpine willow herb. It also has neem seed oil to help refresh and replenish the skin! I absolutely enjoy this mask so much and would have to give it a 5 star review for how well it works! I have had this for about 7 months now and have used it so many times and am about to repurchase! My friend gifted it to me and I knew I would love it to begin with! It is super hydrating and never has made my face dry at all! I saw great results such as no acne, hydration, and best of all it blurred my pores so well! I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for an amazing pore product! It is so worth the $36 because it comes with 3oz which is a pretty good amount for this amazing mask!🌿🐬OLE HENRIKSEN - Cold Plunge Pore Mask

🌟L’Oréal Exfoliate and Refine Pores🌟
🌟L’Oréal Exfoliate and Refine Pores🌟
L'ORÉAL - Pure-Clay Face Mask with Red Algae for Clogged Pores to Exfoliate And Refine Pores About me 🤗 and the product 🌟Skin type/skin tone I have combination skin. My t-zone is in the range of normal to oily skin and I have dry skin on my cheeks. My skin tone is warm ivory with a slight reddish discoloration in my cheeks 🧐I also have some freckles across my cheeks and my nose bridge. 🌟Product function The product claims to refine and exfoliate the skin within 10 minutes by using ingredients such as red algae extract, volcanic rock, and pure clays. 🌟Texture/consistency The texture and consistency of the product is thick and gritty due to the clay and volcanic rocks. 🌟Packaging The packaging is a small roundish screw on cap glass container that is leak proof and durable. ( i accidently dropped the product from off my counter and the glass survived! 🤪) Beauty story📖 🌟Overall experience I was walking through the aisles of Target (no surprise huh) and I saw this product and another similar product which I will review later on. I LOVE 😍mud masks and I've had pretty good experiences with loreal products so I grabbed these two products right away since they were on sale! I made a rookie mistake when I started using this product. I decided to use this one on my whole entire face on my first try. I was so excited to use the product that I forgot that this product is an exfoliating clay mask aka harsher on the skin. So when the 10 min was up and it was time to wash the product off, I regretted my decision! 😂The sensitive areas of my face became irritated and red which was absolutely predicable. The next time I used this product I learned from my first mistake and only used it on the my nose and a bit on my cheek area which needed some refining. 🌟Verdict ❤️ After using this product based on my own skin's needs and sensitive areas, I loved using this product as you can tell in the video that its almost an empty! My face felt so smooth 🥰and soft since the volcanic rock exfoliated the dead skin on my face and minimized my pores a bit. 🌟Recommend?✅ I absolutely reccomend this product to oily and combination skinned peeps and those with large pores that needs some refining! I would caution for my fellow sensitive and dry skin people out there because this product is a bit harsh on the skin. I would reccomend 👍🏻using this product at most once every other day or just when you see your face building up dead skin cells in need of some exfoliating. 🌟Worth it?💰 This product is aroudn $12.99 for the regular price but I'm sure my discount savvy people out there can find it for cheaper like i did. It is absolutely worth the time 👏🏻👏🏻and money because this product works and I alwasy feel so clean and refreshed after I use this product.

Purify your skin with PTR’s Irish Moor mask
Purify your skin with PTR’s Irish Moor mask
When reading the container for PETER THOMAS ROTH - Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask , it reads like a skin care enthusiast’s wish list. Purifying, refining, decongesting, hydrating ... minimizing the look of pores, fine lines and wrinkles. It could only hype itself up more if it said, it could do my taxes for me. Let’s delve deeper ... What it does: It helps draw out dirt, oil and grime while also providing nourishment. It minimizes pores, reduces dullness/uneven texture, and fine lines/wrinkles. PTR says the mask contains 9,000-year-old black moor mud and is harvested BY HAND FROM THE IRISH COUNTRYSIDE. My experience: I have oily, dehydrated skin and enlarged pores around my nose. I like masks that hydrate, but detoxify. I got the mask in a trio as a Christmas gift from a friend. Something interesting about the mud mask is that it never truly dries down. It can be slightly harder to evenly spread over your face, but it is nice once it is on. Because it doesn’t dry down, it is easy to remove. I apply it with a silicone paddle brush, but if that proves too difficult, then I switch to the OG elf foundation brush. I like how my skin feels after I use it, but I haven’t noticed a reduction in my pores. Unlike the AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay, it doesn’t leave my skin screaming for moisture. BIG PLUS. I will update this once I have a finished it. Recommend? Yes, if you have $60 to spend it is currently out of stock on Sephora.com.
