Is one better than the other? Asian vs. Western
While Western skincare generally focuses on anti-aging, Korean Beauty is all about having a dialogue with your skin – listening to the skin's needs with a holistic approach.
Korean skincare is all about putting nutrients back into the skin. Korean skincare adopts a more gentle approach, with less of a focus on scrubs, retinols and harsh acids. Each product in a Korean beauty routine serves a specific purpose.
Western skincare has a much bigger emphasis on chemical exfoliation.
Western skincare generally has a focus on products that work fast to solve all your skincare woes.
I personally like a little bit of both .
Western products take a fast approach whereas Asian products take a slower, gentler approach.
Western products seem to really lead with the results the product will deliver, while Asian products will often lead with the ingredients included in the product. Here’s an example: Sunday Riley Good Genes* bottle states: “Deeply exfoliates for clarity, radiance, and younger-looking skin. Visibly brightens the appearance of dark spots. Instantly plumps the look of fine lines and wrinkles.” Purito Centella Level Buffet Serum* states: “EWG Green Level Ingredients, Centella Asiatica Extract 49%, Palmitoyl Peptide Complex, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid and Madecassic Acid.”
Western products are marketed more by the results they can deliver and entice customers with the skin goals they will achieve if they use the product.
Another big difference is how you build your routine in Western or Asian skincare. We aren’t all doing the Clinique 3-step cleanse, toner and moisturize routine! But that is something very ingrained in Western skincare and many of us do still follow that type of philosophy.
Asian beauty has no problem encouraging you to use many, many products in your routines. Because it’s pretty well accepted that consumers are going to be building routines out of many products, brands formulate their products accordingly. You will see that Asian products don’t claim too much from one product.
There can be a really big difference in the price of Western and Asian skincare. That is actually one of the biggest reasons I personally choose the majority of my routines to come from Asian beauty products. Asian beauty is often much less expensive than Western skincare.
First is that the Asian market is light years ahead of the Western market when it comes to skincare research and technology. We all know that the most innovative research is coming out of Asia, and the West is catching up, but it’s been a slow process.
I would also point out that Western skincare often has elaborate marketing plans that cost a lot of money, and that is often reflected in the price of the products. Asian products certainly do spend a lot on marketing, but, especially with the Asian Beauty boom of about 2010-2012, many brands relied more on word of mouth and influencer marketing to get their products to an international audience.

SHANI DARDEN ROUTINE
I haven’t been using these long enough to speak on the long term benefits, but I wanted to share my first impressions of each: ⭐️ sake toning essence: i really love the idea of a toner and essence in one formula. once i read that this was formulated to help control oil and reduce appearance of pore size, I was SOLD! i have been trying this out in both my AM and PM routine to see what i like better. i think I may stick with using it in the AM for now, as it helps to keep me looking fresh and matifyed throughout the day! ⭐️ texture reform: i decided to go with this one instead of the retinol reform, because it’s a gentler and made for sensitive skin. i have used 2x at night so far and plan to add a day this week. so far I have had zero irritation from this and am excited to see the long term results! ⭐️ cleansing serum: this is super gentle and lathers very nicely. it doesn’t make my skin feel dry and gives my combination skin the perfect amount of hydration! i also feel like it helps calm inflammation and redness. i have used this as a second cleanse after oil cleansing and i have no makeup left behind!

TULA SKINCARE - Daily Sunscreen Gel Broad Spectrum SPF 30 FARMACY - Daily Greens Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer with Moringa and Papaya The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Serum There have been quite a few products I haven’t been able to put down this month, so I’ll break down a list of what have been my holy grail: The Ordinary Salyic Acid Solution - This is a 2% treatment solution to help exfoliate the inside walls of pores to fight the appearance of blemishes. I apply this around my chin area because my face has definitely been breaking out around there with wearing masks all the time. Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum - My pores seem to be oilier in the summer, and I forgot what wonders it does for me. It truly helps my skin look smooth, even and my pores look smaller. Farmacy Daily Greens Moisturizer - This smells amazing and it truly keeps my skin hydrated all day. The gel-like texture is so divine and cools my face. I love that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling sticky like some gel moisturizers do. Tula Protect + Glow Sunscreen - I have never used a gel sunscreen before and wow this texture is unreal. Formulated with probiotics to help lock in moisture and strengthen the skin barrier. There is pineapple and papaya to help promote even skin tone as well as Wild Butterfly Ginger Root to protect the skin against blue light!

different types of witch hazel
Before you read please remember everyones skin is different!! Many people have begun to dislike witch hazel because of its over drying, too stripping, youll-regret-it-later properties. But i on the other hand still love it. You need to be a smart and educated consumer. Look at the ingredient lists, research the brand, look at reviews, etc. Ive been using witch hazel in my toners for a very long time and I have never experienced any dryness, irritation, or sensitivity. It works amazing alongside my oily-combo skin, and it really dries up my acne. In my title I put different types of witch hazel, because believe it or not there is! Most brands dilute their witch hazel with alcohol, or other very drying ingredients. However, the brand Bliss, doesn’t use alcohol. They dilute it with water! And you still get all of the amazing witch hazel effects without worrying of the extra dryness you may or may not get. bliss - Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum
