A 2 Week Update
After changing out my cleanser, toner, and moisturizer for the suggestions made by this app (and from reading your posts and watching Hyram’s videos) my skin is looking smoother and better than ever! I have sensitive skin that’s also combination and I’m allergic to some skincare ingredients and fragrances. I used to use CLINIQUE - Liquid Facial Soap Oily Skin Formula , CLINIQUE - Clarifying Lotion 3 for Combination Oily Skin , CLINIQUE - 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula , and CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator (where the oily skin moisturizing gel was not good on my dry skin) as my nightly routine with HUDA BEAUTY - Yo Glow Facial Enzyme Scrub once a week. I found that first it worked to clear me up, but then my sensitivities came out. I still had little bumps come up on my forehead, my dermatitis was coming out on my nose, chin, and temple. I knew I had to change it up, but was afraid to break from the system I was so used to. I did the skincare scan and was recommended to try a glycolic acid toner for my acne. I picked up The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution and CeraVe - Renewing SA Lotion to help with my problem areas. I ended up using both products in more areas than just my face (as you can see in one of my previous posts). I wanted to change up my cleanser, and wanted the CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin, but it’s still sold out everywhere unless I want to spend $40 CAD and shipping to get it from Amazon. I watched Hyram’s CeraVe dupes video and found the Aveeno - Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser . I was a bit apprehensive where it has fragrance, but it’s been good! Ooh, and I still use HUDA BEAUTY - Yo Glow Facial Enzyme Scrub once a week! My skin purged for a few days and now I’ve got the remains of 2 pimples barely left on my face, my red patches of irritated skin on my face are gone! All I’ve got to do now is to keep from touching my face (which is more on my mind due to the current state of the world) and stop popping pimples (which is a much easier feat where they’re minimal now!) My mom has even hopped on The Ordinary and Yo Glow train lol Let me know if you have any further suggestions or questions! ❤️

$10 Drugstore Shampoo/Conditioner Saviour!
Salicylic acid in a drugstore shampoo? live clean - Professional Healthy Scalp Balancing Shampoo and live clean - Healthy Scalp Balancing Conditioner are new to the shelves in my province in Canada. I have seborrheic dermatitis and have tried pretty much everything to clear up my flaky, itchy, dry, sometimes painful scalp. From steroid creams to dandruff shampoo to tar, I’ve used it all. I had to stop getting my hair bleached and coloured because my scalp would crack and pus would dry onto it (sorry if this is TMI). This year, I have a patch on my neck just at the base of my hairline (see second picture). I was using WELLA PROFESSIONALS - Invigo Balance Senso Calm Sensitive Shampoo and my scalp flakes were nonexistent for the most part, but it didn’t clear up this patch, which is very visible when I wear my hair up. I used it with Briogeo - Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager and found this thing is a miracle worker for really working product into the scalp. After using this app, I discovered salicylic acid was good for most of my issues besides just my scalp and I have been searching for it ever since. It’s supposed to help seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis and when I found this shampoo set I snatched it up! After about two weeks of use (I don’t wash my hair everyday), I can feel the products working to exfoliate my scalp. There’s still a small scaly patch on my neck, but I’m expecting great things and it is a lot less red and irritated. I’ve been finishing my nightly routine with CeraVe - Renewing SA Lotion on the patch on my neck (as well as pretty much everywhere on my body as it’s good for so many reasons!

Keratosis Pilaris? Never heard of her.
Aside from seborrheic dermatitis, I was also blessed with keratosis pilaris, which is essentially bumps on my thighs and upper arms that are filled with keratin and are really difficult for me not to pop 🤦🏻♀️. I usually have scans and bumps all year round, but it’s at its worst in the summer when I have the most access to my legs and can mindlessly pick. I’ve been using FIRST AID BEAUTY - KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% AHA for a while off and on and I find it works best when used routinely. When I used it 2 times a week, my skin was at its best! I’m getting back into the routine again, as my legs were getting pretty bad. I just picked up CeraVe - Renewing SA Lotion a couple weeks ago and heard it’s good for keratosis pilaris (and so much more) so I picked it up and whenever I use the scrub, I follow up with this lotion. The result is smooth skin that’s actually healing and generating less bumps!

My two favourite new multitaskers!
To reference my first post, turns out I don’t have fungal acne! Here’s what I’ve been doing to help and photos to show how the itchy red spots are disappearing after only a few days! I received The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution from a friend after reading about all the benefits and uses it provides. I was recommended it by Cherie’s Skin Journey face scan for my light acne, but it also (according to other posts I’ve read): can be used on your underarms and legs to help reduce ingrown hairs and bumps can be used on your underarms to eliminate body odour (look up Lab Muffin’s post on glycolic acid online to learn more) can be used on your back and chest acne ! Now, I practically bathe in this stuff. I put it on every PM after I shower on my face, underarms, and any spots on my back. When I shave I throw some on there, too. I follow up with CeraVe - Renewing SA Lotion which is another multitasker that was again recommended through the face scan for my pores, redness, and wrinkles. I use it all over: on my legs and upper arms to treat my KP on my underarms after the glycolic acid toner on my face to help with pores, redness, and wrinkles and on my seborrheic dermatitis patches It still gets 5 stars from me even though my face looks a tad shiny once it’s applied. I’m so glad these products are safe and affordable! I’m only a few days in and my husband and I can already see a decrease in the pimples on my back and my face is drastically smoother and clearer! Now I’m just waiting to get CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skinas it’s out of stock all through my city AND online! Hoping that this is the last missing puzzle piece to complete my skincare routine and help with my pores, as Cherie’s face scan recommended me in the last picture. Let me know in the comments if there are any other ways you use these products!

Help me! Forehead bumps, dryness, etc.
I’ve been trying to clear my skin for years now and I always end up having some sort of issue present, whether it’s pimples or dryness or large pores. Right now, I’ve got forehead bumps (I tried to pop the big one on my forehead - I know! I’m sorry! Nothing came out), some sort of itchy red bumps on the side of my nose, and a patch of bumps on my chin with a hormonal pimple on the other side. Wondering if any of that could be fungal acne as looking through the products on this site, most have fungal acne listed that I use. I find my skin is: dry/combination with an oily t-zone and sensitive. Also, I’m allergic to benzoyl peroxide, so any recommendations without that or any other ingredients people like to steer away from would be greatly appreciated!
Are you applying Hyaluronic Acid Serum right?
What is hyaluronic acid ? It’s a sugar molecule our own bodies produce. It holds/retains water (1000xs it’s size) and that gives it a category as a humectant. Its found over your entire body but most abundant in your eyes. The older you get (like anything else) the less you make. (which is why dry eyes seem to bother a lot of people as they age). What does it do for your skin? 💦 Keep any skin type HYDRATED (yes you’re acne prone, rosacea, sensitive skin is safe) 💦Helps diminish FINE LINES & WRINKLES 💦Give skin a SOFTER FEEL How you are supposed to use it! Hyaluronic acid should be applied to DAMP skin. Why? Because imagine putting a humectant (which holds water) on your DRY SKIN (seems redundant). I apply my hyaluronic acid as my first serum (works from lighted to heaviest when applying skin care). I use a spray bottle if I apply at night (due to my routine) and just use my essence (for extra moisture) during the day. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 is good because of its minimal amount of ingredients. It’s slightly sticky but it does hydrate my skin.

how long does skincare take to work?
this post will be following up one of the myths I talked about briefly in my last post. “your skin gets used to products, resulting in them eventually not working” this is FALSE ! your skin has a cycle of 28 days, meaning that it takes about 28 days for skin cells to turn over and regenerate. if you are trying out a new product that you are not too sure about, keep trying for roughly 28 days to see the results. however, if a product is burning or stinging your skin, stop using that product as this is basically your skin telling you that it is not reacting well and this can cause irritation to your skin. there are some products that take a certain amount of time to show results ! AHA- glycolic, lactic etc: right away but peaks at 12 weeks BHA- salicylic acid: right away but peaks at 12 weeks RETINOL: 8 weeks- 6 months VITAMIN C: 3+ weeks RETINOIDS: 6-8 weeks HYALURONIC ACID: a few minutes NIACINAMIDE: 12 weeks

I began using CeraVe about a year ago and I have never looked back. Not only did it help with my textured skin, but it completely changed the look of my dry ashy face to a healthy glow. SA Cleanser CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin The cleanser of this line is extremely soothing, gentle and perfect for sensitive skin. It does not remove make up and is safe to use as an everyday morning and evening cleanser. SA Cream CeraVe - Renewing SA Cream The cream is a thick consistency that helps penetrate the skin and creates a hydrating look. After continuous use I saw a significant difference in my skin as it looked bright and hydrated. The cream is a perfect winter moisturizer. Some may find it too thick for the summer, but from personal experience and extremely dry skin, it works for me all year round. This is only a nighttime moisturizer as these chemicals cannot be exposed to sunlight. It helped with literally all of my skin concerns from dullness, uneven texture, uneven skin tone and extreme dryness. When used altogether, these products are exceptionally effective. ——————————————— Recommend 100% I recommend this line to anyone with eczema as it is extremely gentle and works well with sensitive skin. Anyone suffering from dryness and textured skin can use this line. With continuous daily use, you will see a significant difference in your skin in just a month! 60 second cleansing rule 🤫💗
created by nayamka roberts-smith (@labeautyologist on twitter), the 60 second cleansing rule has done WOOONDERS for my skin! here’s how it works: 1. use a cleansing balm to remove any makeup & dirt on the surface (massage for 2-3 minutes) 2. use a cleansing oil to remove any oil based impurities (massage for 15 MINUTES!!!) this is the PERFECT time for you to really massage, go slow, & target all parts of your face with the cleansing oil. it’ll pull out the gunk throughout the duration of the 15 minutes (as pictured) 3. CLEANSE FOR 60 SECONDS! i don’t know why i’ve never done this before but now, i can’t imagine not doing it! it makes me get into all parts of my face & places i usually miss: my hairline, sideburn area, & neck. my skin feels CLEAN after this process & it’s satisfying to see the stuff come off! it’s best to do this once a week & when you do, dedicate it for yourself 🤫🍾 (the cleansing balm & cleansing oil need not to be a particular brand! i just use this one because it’s one of my holy grails!) cocokind - Facial cleansing oil

Everyone’s Least Favorite Bit of Advice
Hi there to the beauties of cherie!! If you’ve been told to be patient once, you’ve been told a million times! But what does that actually ... mean? Each active ingredient you add will promise a few specific results that you expect to see working. We’ve all had those moments where we buy a product that every review promised was a life saver, but after weeks of using it, our skin is no better for it. Here’s a simple and straightforward graphic to help you keep a realistic expectation of when you should start seeing results! having practical expectations also helped me to be kinder to myself by encouraging me to give my skin proper time and consistency. Original graphic was found on ig/sciencebecomesher! save this post for reference 🗒
STILL USING A WASH CLOTH? 🥴
IF YOU SHAVE / WAX OR HAVE KERATOSIS PILARIS READ NOW‼️ Within the past year, I’ve experimented w/ exfoliating cloths, dry brushing, AHAs and sugaring. One day, I was on youtube and I heard about Korean wash cloths...When I heard the phrase “KOREAN WASH CLOTH” girllll. It was a wrap, must buy for me!! (If you know about Korean skincare products, you know). (BIAS? lmao) I paused the video and went straight to Amazon! My main reasons for purchasing these cloth were.. 1) I suffer from keratosis pilaris. This is a skin condition where the keratin or dead cells in a follicle builds up. When its not able to pass through the skin, you are left with either raised bumps or inflamed raised bumps lol. These bumps also can be found on the upper arms. Sorta like “goosebumps”. For me my legs get very dry. I wanted to exfoliate them thoroughly to remove that dry, rough skin. Because Keratosis pilaris has no know cure, I needed something that was non superficial and consistent. And 2) I was looking for better exfoliating method for Pre and Post Wax care. IF YOU WAX OR SHAVE, EXFOLIATING IS A MAJOR KEY. Exfoliating prior to waxing help the wax effectively remove the hair from its follicle. Exfoliating after is probably the most VITAL. This prevents ingrown hair from forming! This is a tremendous step that needs to be taken after every procedure. In the past, I’ve used loofahs and wash clothes, even body scrubs . But this cloth HAS CHANGED THE GAME. I still get so shocked with the results everytime. This is definitely my favorite exfoliating method now. So when using this cloth, keep it mind that it is pretty grainy. This texture is supposed to help remove built up dead skin, oil and dirt effectively. Its not as grainy and like a pumice stone BY TOUCH. But when you do rub it against your skin, there is a rough texture. Due to this grainy texture, it may not be suitable for sensitive skin. Or skin that is compromised but any skin conditions, EX. dematitis/ eczama. Personally i do not have sensitive skin. So this method is so perfect for me. TIPS: Basically when using this product, 1) let the warm water run on my body for and least 5 minutes. This help loosen and moisten the dry dead skin to make it easier for you to then exfoliate with the cloth. 2) Then I lather body wash around my whole body. This acts as an emollient to help the cloth glide across your body alot smoother. Then adding some to the cloth When you rinse off, you’ll see EVERYTHING! All of the dirt and dead skin will rinse off and you can visibly see it all! You’ll feel so gross but so satisfied at the same time lol 🤩 3) Be mindful to moisturize after this method. Since you’re basically stripping the skin of its natural oils. Be sure to add moisture back. Almond oil 🔥 P.S when looking for these cloths, GET THE BLUE ONE! I’ve read the reviews for the GREEN Korean wash cloth. And many ppl wrote about how unbearably rough it was🙅🏽♀️
