Closed comedones breakout
BACKSTORY: A few weeks ago I had no idea what was going on because my skin has never broken out before! I’ve practically had pretty clear skin all of my life. WHAT HAPPENED?? : I’m 22 now and I tried out oil cleansing to clear out my black heads... worst. mistake. of my life. It completely broke me out into tiny little bumps that were skin colored and it was gross genuinely gross. When I would wash my face or run my fingers on my face it was bumpy practically everywhere. Specifically my t zone forehand was minimal, cheeks around my nose, around my mouth and chin. My skin was super textured everywhere. Then BOOM!!! 💥 my face exploded into a ton of pimples one after the other it seemed like it was never going to get better. One would heal and 3 new ones would pop up. I tried everything underneath the sun. I had many breakdowns and breakouts! My skin is finally getting better and could not be more thankful!!!! WHAT BROKE ME OUT: DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil and Lip Cream Gift Set - This is really just is not for everyone. ROUTINE: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin - The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I find it drying but it’s been helping a lot!! #Dr. Eddie’s - Happy Cappy[products]#[FiveStars] - This contains zinc pyrthione which helps so much with acne, closed comedones, fungal acne and it’s a shampoo for babies so i found it to be really gentle on the skin CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 - again I didn’t find it to be super moisturizing, but it’s okay I need to find something non comedogenic that will help my stay hydrated. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • MY SKIN TYPE: I stripped down to the basics and just for reference I have comboish skin (oilier T zone, dry/normal everywhere else) although lately it’s been more dry since I started moisturizing which is odd but really I need to find a better moisturizer. **** These pictures were taken 6 days apart **** 📷 September 9th - September 15th I hope someone finds this helpful ❤️ if they have experienced an oil cleansing disaster like I did
My skincare routine
A little background on my skin: I have struggled with acne seen I was a teenager. I wouldn’t call it severe but it’s definitely persistent... I don’t go a single day without at least a couple pimples. I have combo skin, oily on my forehead and cheeks but super dry and flaky around my nose/mouth/ chin area. I also constantly have little bumps on my face that don’t really get red or turn into whiteheads and am thinking it could be fungal acne?! I wanted to develop a skincare routine that would help with acne and textural irregularities, even my skin tone and shrink my pores, and if possible give me glowing skin! So here it is! Let me know what you guys think! PM (daily): CLEANSE: I double cleanse starting with removing my makeup using LUSH - Ultrabland . It’s good at removing makeup but it is super thick and hard to get off so once I’m done with this tub I will probably try a different makeup removing cleanser. I then go in with either the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser or CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin I keep one in the shower and one by my sink so whichever one is handy is the one I use. TONE: toner isn’t a necessary part of a skincare routine but I like the way Kiehl's - Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner feels and it’s Hyram approved so I figure it can’t be doing any harm. TREAT: I have used a prescription retinol (tretinoin) for the past year or so. Helps with acne and signs of aging. I then use The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 to hydrate my skin. I used to use this in the morning but I don’t love the way it feels under my makeup. MOISTURIZE: I use CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion which is great for hydration but even though it’s targeted for oily skin I feel like my skin is super oily after... so I might switch back to using Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel-Cream which feels really cool and calming on the skin and doesn’t leave me oily. AM(daily): Cleanse with one of the two cera ve cleansers listed above. Tone with the same toner. TREAT: I use The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and I absolutely love it. It has helped with controlling my oil production and it has so many other amazing benefits. If I’m feeling dry I will use Kiehl's - Hydro Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate which has glycerin to lock water in. I will then moisturize with CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 . I will then use The Ordinary - High-Adherence Silicone Primer as a base for my makeup. Once a week (Sunday) I use The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque . My skin feels so smooth after. 3 times a week in the morning I use The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA for mild exfoliation. Thoughts?

I NEED HELP!
Hello beauties! I’ve been a little nervous about posting my skin but y’all are the only ones who would understand my issues, and could possibly help me! I have been trying to clear my skin for almost two years now, and I have tried almost everything: change my pillow case and sheets every week, wash my face twice a day, exfoliate 1-2, stopped eating dairy, sugar, drink more water, and a healthier diet, etc. and I still DO all these things! But nothing I do seems to work... these are the products I have been currently using, and my routines: MORNING ROUTINE: - Rinse my face with water - CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser - Rub an ice cube on my face to help shrink pores and pimples - CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin - Apple Cider Vinegar or Tea tree oil for my pimples NIGHT ROUTINE: - Rinse my face with water - CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser - CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin - Apple Cider Vinegar or tea tree oil for my pimples ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK: I exfoliate with either one of these products... - The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution - FREEMAN - REJUVENATING cucumber + pink salt Please feel free to criticize/ correct my routine, add tips or products, anything helps!!

Hello! I’m in need of urgent assistance. I’ve done absolutely everything I can think of and I don’t have the money to continue spending on expensive products that don’t work! I used to have very bad cystic acne and am now on medication for that. Right now, I’m dealing with fungal acne on the forehead, and some persistent pimples along my cheeks and by my nose and chin. I have oily/combo skin, primarily in the T-zone and I’m a college student, so my under eye bags are awful. I have pictures of my morning routine and my nighttime routine. Please help and give suggestions on what products I should discard/keep or which products I should try!! Thanks so much!
New addition to my night routine
So far I have only used this product for a little less than a week, but I am already seeing results. Of course, only time will tell if this product will make a lasting effect on my skin. The first few nights I experienced some purging, but after that, the product seems to calm any inflammation overnight. I did decide to eliminate The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. I wasn’t loving the way it felt on my skin and couldn’t tell if it was truly doing much. I thought since my face wash CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skinand night moisturizer CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream both have niacinamide that the ordinary was a bit unnecessary. We’ll see how my current PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Boosterand PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliatorcombination works. 🙏🏼🤞🏼

Retin-A (0.025%) Before and After
Hi guys! I’m 27 years old and I started using Retin A OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream in March 2020. I have been using a pea sized drop every night as well as a little on my neck. After picture was taken August 2020! The wrinkles around my eyes have significantly reduced! I did get super dry skin when my skin was adjusting but power through it! After I apply this at night to a clean face, I’ll add a layer of Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Moisturizer . P.S. I took these pictures from my dentist. I got veneers on my 4 front teeth

Week 1 of Tretinoin and Spirinolactone Journey
This is the end of my first week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. This first half is a repeat of last week’s post. The new info will be right below my posted routine. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so they have been prescribed by a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. I’ve simplified my routine to only include a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, the tret cream and a sunscreen. I have normal skin. I’m looking to add more in as I adjust to treatment. My routine is as follows: AM Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 PM Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin Apostrophe formula (using this after moisturizer so I can have a buffer between the tret and my skin) So the morning after my first night of using tret, I experienced a bit of dryness in my forehead and on my nose. The quick fix for me was applying my moisturizer on slightly damp skin, rather than waiting until my skin was completely dry. I started breaking out two nights ago. I woke up with like 8 new friends on my face overnight😫. But this could also have been due to the food I was eating over the past couple of days. I happily enjoyed my tofu scramble with sriracha knowing darn well my dermatologist told me to avoid spicy foods and soy. 🥴 So, I’m cutting off soy, spicy foods, and dairy to see whether the food led to a flare up or if this was an early start to my purge. I’ve got these painful, hard bumps on my forehead and the pimples on my cheeks feel a bit sensitive. But, I’m going to wait it out and see how I feel before I apply tret in a couple of days. I’m still applying tret 3x a week, but plan to move to every other day at the start of August. As for the Spirinolactone, I’ve had to pee waaay more often than I usually do, but so glad I’m confined to my house during time. More updates next week 😊

Week 3 of Tretinoin and Spirinolactone Journey
This is the end of my third week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. This first half is a repeat of last week’s post. The new info will be right below my posted routine. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so they have been prescribed by a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. I’ve simplified my routine to only include an oil cleanser, a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, the tret cream, a sunscreen, and an occlusive . I have normal skin. I’m looking to add more in as I adjust to treatment. My routine is as follows: AM CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin Apostrophe formula (using this after moisturizer so I can have a buffer between the tret and my skin) CeraVe - Healing Ointment Can we say progress that only I really see?! I love how the texture on my forehead and cheeks is getting smoother as time goes by. A lot of the redness I was dealing with has gone down as well. Also, my smile lines aren’t as prominent as before, which is nice. I just transitioned to using Tretinoin every other day, and so wanted to add some minor adjustments to my routine to make sure my skin was getting the hydration it needs. As you increase your usage of any active, you must similarly use more products that can help hydrate and and keep your skin hydrated. I needed to add an oil cleanser to my routine for to make up for this summer heat, and the sweat 😓 that results. My skin always feels so grimy so I needed an gentle cleanser I could add on to my routine. I’m also using the Cerave healing ointment as an occlusive to help seal in moisture on the days I’m not using Tretinoin to protect my moisture barrier. I feel like I could begin to purge soon, as I’ve been noticing some whiteheads appearing in areas I already have acne in and in the exact spots I have had breakouts in the past.

opinions on CeraVe ??
So as soon as i started using CeraVe i noticed that a few days after using it i had gotten a few pimples. my best friend's mom said that her brother used to use CeraVe bc he had badddd acne and it'll do that bc it's taking out all of the impurities first. is this true? i really love how moisturizing it is for my dry skin but i also don't want to make my skin worse. i might think that it might've been just my skin adjusting to the new face wash bc i am changing from Biore to CeraVe. so lmk you're honest, down to earth opinions on this product !! :)
CeraVe-Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin
Hi community! I’m 21 years old and love where I am on my skincare journey, but I’d appreciate getting some tips from some more experienced members of the community. Thanks in advance for your time 🥰 I have acne prone skin and I believe I am combination skin type. This app alerted me to my above average sized pores and I wonder if these are trapping oil and dirt. Every morning and evening, I do the following three steps: Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser Neutrogena - Alcohol Free Toner CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin Once a week, I exfoliate with fresh - Sugar Face Polish Exfoliator Using cetaphil cleanser before and after. Lately, I have been using this once a week for a treat: EVE LOM - EVE LOM Cleanser I try to avoid touching my face and I change my pillow cases 2-3 days. Is my acne due to hormones, high academic stress, or perhaps diet? Thanks for your time! 😍

curology skin journey + what is my acne called?
trying out curology on acne with my eczema prone skin ⭐️ i have been trying out curology for the past week. i’ve always wanted to try it since the topicals that my dermatologist has given me recently haven’t helped my skin out at all. I’ve been so fed up with my skin and it really brings down my self-confidence. worst part of this whole thing is that I don’t know what type of acne I have, therefore I don’t know which products could help clear it. I was also really scared to try curology since I know that my skin is extremely dry. I was worried that curology would completely dry out my skin. however so far, my eczema hasn’t been as bad as I imagined it to be. review (so far): Curology - The Cleanser this cleanser is pretty gentle. It doesn’t foam up and it’s more like a jelly texture. Pretty similar to the Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser . however, this does seem to dry out my skin. But this can be fixed with some ointment and moisturizer. I also cleanse twice a day which could be part of the reason why I’ve noticed that my skin has dried out so much. Curology - Curology formula now this curology formula seems to be helping quite a bit. Ever since I started using curology I have noticed the difference in my acne. I’m not sure exactly what it is but I believe that it brought down some bumps and pimples that I had previously. but of course I still do get breakouts which will hopefully start to minimize later on. Curology - The Moisturizer I know that chirology was made for mostly people with acne prone/oily skin. So I knew that the moisturizer will be a lot thinner than one that I would typically use. I don’t hate this moisturizer since it does slightly hydrate my skin. However it is not enough hydration for eczema prone skin. because of this I also have to use the CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which i do highly recommend. i hope this helped any of you who are considering curology. i’ll keep you all updated and let you know if it works well or fails miserably. also, if you guys could maybe help on any products for my skin it would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
update on curology
curology seems to be working! i’ve seen less breakouts! usually when i get breakouts i get a bunch of little bumps. but now i’ve just gotten like single bigger pimples which kind of bothers me but at least i don’t get big breakouts. although this does seem to be working it dries out my skin quite a lot! my eczema is starting to flare and i’m now using the CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin which helps my skin a lot! hopefully my skin continues to clear up and also stays hydrated! i’ll keep you guys updated.
