Best spot treatment
If you’re like me and don’t have overly spotty skin but when those pesky spots crop up you know they can be very annoying! There are many products on the market that claim to target spots as and when they crop up. I put two leading brands to the test to see who comes out on top. Tea Tree Face Mask - TBS 🌿
🕒 so after the THE BODY SHOP - Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution I would moisturize with LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo Dual Acne Treatment 🧘🏾♀️ i use the mask once or twice a week for best results. I discovered this product in may 2019 and still use it to this day. 💕 I just love it. 💦 leave it on the 10-15 mins and then wash it off with lukewarm water. I get to my skincare routine after and re wash my face with a cleanser (right now, I'm using THE BODY SHOP - Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser ) I'll make posts about my TBS aloe routine later. 💁🏾♀️ it helps so much on my T zone (oily part of my face). I definitely recommend.
It is worth every penny!
I've had the most stubborn pimples on my chin & cheeks that I've been babying for literally three weeks! They were shrinking then getting inflamed. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo Dual Acne Treatmentthis cleared my skin up with only a few whiteheads and no new breakouts within a week. If you're sick of $60 skincare products that smell nice but have no actual effect, this is for you. This is an Oil-free, Fragrance-free, Paraben-free, Non-Comedogenic peroxide spot treatment, and it works like one. For some skin that might be too harsh, but for my oily, hormonal acne-prone skin, it's excellent. The best way I've found to use it as a daily, acne treatment, cleanse face, tone, then apply to the affected area. Leave it to dry out. Use it daily, day, and night. Don't use any oil products. If you're just starting out with this stuff, you can try to apply a thin layer morning or evening 1-2 times daily to affected areas. I suggest using it once a day to start until your skin gets used to it. I do think it is very strong though, so use very little and don't use this multiple times a day. Or even every night on the same part. I did moisturize before applying this, so I think that helped compensate so I don't overly dry out my skin. By day 2 or 3, you will see a reduction of the pimples. Also, the applicator is great. I like that it dispenses very little, so it's easy to control. Other ones with big dispensers end up getting wasted due to how much squeeze out. Recommended for blemishes, blackheads, and whiteheads. Dermatologist tested on sensitive skin. And while this is on the pricier side, it is worth every penny. Since using it my skin has also become less oily and less textured. The only downside is if I forget to put it on, my skin kindly reminds me by breaking out again. But that’s my fault, not the products lol. I would recommend this product to anyone with stubborn breakouts. I will repurchase!

FA safe but there is a Sulfur product I prefer
MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion ^ has no fungal acne triggers Has 2 ingredients that help fight fungal acne: - Sulfur - Salicylic Acid Some people say it dries out there skin too much but I think it’s okay as a spot treatment. But it didn’t do much for my acne. A Sulfur spot treatment mask that works really well for me is De La Cruz - Sulfur Ointment, Acne Medication, Maximum Strength which you only leave on clean skin for 10 min then wash it off and use your regular skin care products
My Skincare Routine- 5 Months Later!
Long time no post! Since my first post regarding my skincare routine received quite a bit of attention, I decided to update and let you know what I’ve learned to do within the past few months. I still am using the same CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin cleanser, which will remain a long time favorite of mine. I am considering trying the SA cleanser once this runs out! My routine has simplified, as I really only moisturize and use The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% in the morning and at night. I love how my once oily skin is now more manageable! I have come to learn that my skin really doesn’t agree with the The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA serum. I was away at college and left it home, as I’ve been back for about a month I decided to try it again and my skin has NOT been happy. I could be wrong, but I believe this can be to blame. I have really switched over from my The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution to the The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque once a week, as I feel the latter is less harsh on my skin. I could possibly be allergic to the peeling solution, as again at school I left it out of my routine and saw better results. My holy grail product used to be the MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion , which worked great but dried my skin out around the pimple over time. Now, acne patches are the way to go! I got these ones from Amazon, and at ~$10 for 125 patches, I see it as a complete win! Now I turn to you guys, as I still struggle with hormonal acne and now dry skin that the weather has changed. If there are any products you recommend (with a college students budget in mind!), don’t hesitate to comment below! I hope you all had safe and wonderful holidays with your loved ones! ❤️
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
I seriously can not say enough good things about this product. This is a must have product for me. This is a powder that is suspended in a clear liquid. It is a fast acting acne spot treatment made with salicylic acid and calamine. I was recommended this product by a friend who told me it worked overnight to remove her whiteheads. This has been gentle to my dry sensitive skin and truly shrinks down if not completely removes my blemishes. I dip a q-tip into the liquid until I reach the bottom powder and apply it to my blemish. It is $17 for a 1 oz bottle which lasts forever!

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
This was my first ever acne spot treatment! This product has two components to it. It has the sulfur, calamine, camphor, zinc oxide and salicylic acid at the bottom - the pink powder stuff. The clear liquid above the pink powder is the isopropyl alcohol and water. How to use: after doing your skincare routine dip a cotton swab though the liquid into the pink powder and then slowly bring the pink powder coated with the liquid out of the bottle. Apply to each pimple. Depending on the amount you picked up you could cover a good amount of pimples. Note: don’t shake the bottle The morning after I notice my pimples are smaller! This is just as effective as the Kate Somerville EradiKate but more affordable. A Spot Treatment Face Mask? YES!
It's #FacemaskFriday! 🌟Listen, everyone's skin goes crazy from time to time. Stress, changes in eating habits, even #WFH, and being exposed to different air particles can affect how your skin behaves. Face masks are a great way to tell your skin you're in control and to calm the F down. You're probably familiar with this pink mask I'm using here. But, you know it as a spot treatment or a drying lotion for those unexpected pimples that LOVE to show up whenever we have an important day coming up. However, at least once a month, I try to use this lovely tiny product as a FULL face mask. Yep, you heard that right. I use the spot treatment ALL OVER my face. Why? Well, this one, in particular, has 3 ingredients that make it the perfect face mask: 1) Salicylic Acid helps exfoliate and unclog my pores. 2) Sulfur absorbs excess oil. 3) Calamine helps soothe and calm my skin. Those three ingredients are the best way to press the reset button on your pimples and breakouts. Here's what I do: - Grab your favorite spot treatment lotion. I'm using the classic spot lotion by @mariobadescu - Instead of applying the treatment on your pimples, apply it all over your face - Wait at least 10-15 minutes - Wash thoroughly and follow with your usual skincare routine - IMPORTANT, make sure you end your routine with sunscreen! Even if you do this at night since most spot treatments make skin ultra-sensitive Alright, there you have it. Have you tried this before? Are you going to try it? ONE MONTH OF CUROLOGY
I’ve been using a custom Curology serum for the past month and... it honestly works. After taking a skin quiz, an online dermatologist prescribed a serum for my concerns (white heads, acne, texture.) Texture has been my greatest concern—I had so many little bumps along my cheeks! You can’t seem much of that in these photos but wow my skin texture is drastically better. AND!! My acne has gone done sooo much. I got a facial the other week and my esthetician said I have baby skin!!!
My Acne Transformation (January 2020-July 2020)
I thought for my first post on here I would share how I was able to tackle my stubborn acne and scars. Skin Care Routine (morning & night) I exfoliate everyday with my Neutrogena cleanser. Exfoliating everyday isn’t a great idea for every skin type, but since I have so much dry skin to get rid of it works for me! Next, I go in with a gentle toner from Nivea with a cotton pad all over my face excluding my eyes. Then I take my Vichy mineral 89 (OMG, I LOVE this stuff) and gently dab it into my eye area with my ring finger. Seriously guys, this stuff is a bottle of magic. My dark circles were pretty much completely gone after 2 weeks of using it. Next, I go in with my 10% benzoyl peroxide and place small pea sized amounts on both cheeks and my forehead. Rub it in with your fingers. Then, I take my acne spot treatment from Neutrogena and place it on the same areas as the benzoyl peroxide. Rub it in all over. I do this because I have many acne scars all over my face. Lastly, I moisturize all over my face AND neck using my Neutrogena Facial Moisturizer. And that’s it! I can’t tell you guys how much this routine has helped me and my confidence. Aside from knowing which products I’ve used, I think it’s also important to know the other ways to achieve the skin you want. I think the most important tip (and maybe the most obvious one?) I can give you is never miss a day. If there’s anyone like me out there who sleeps in their makeup sometimes, trust me your skin will hate you for it. It will make it seem like progress isn’t happening, when really there is but you’re causing new breakouts making it seem like nothing is happening! Another tip I should probably mention is maybe ditch the makeup for a while. I know it might seem weird and uncomfortable walking around with a bare face. But even if you were able to minimize your makeup routine to just a concealer, mascara and brows, you are allowing your skin to breathe and soak up that sunlight! Speaking of sunlight, my final tip is go outside and enjoy the sun on your days off (with no makeup of course)! When I went camping last weekend, being outside for a whole 3 days and getting an excellent tan really helped hide the acne scars on my face. Seriously, they’re barely noticeable now. And I bet you won’t be seeing them again for a long time! To end this post, I really hope my tips and routine helps you guys out and thanks for reading! :) VICHY - Minéral 89 Eyes Hyaluronic Acid Eye Gel Cream Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub equate - 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment Gel Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel Neutrogena - Facial Moisturizer

Kate Somerville - EradiKate Acne Treatment This acne spot treatment contains the highest level of Sulfur allowed in order to reduce acne and help keep skin clear of new breakouts. Most effective when applied to affected areas as soon as blemishes or pimples are noticed. Target concerns include blemishes, pores, & oiliness. It has two layers (clear & pink layer where the pink layer is on the bottom). DO NOT SHAKE THE BOTTLE. What we want is to engulf the q tip with the pink layer. Upon application on skin, it has a lightweight watery consistency with tingling sensation. It doesn’t take long for it to dry down. As some of you may know, cystic hormonal pimples are the worst and can last for weeks without a head & before one leaves another one decides to come! So I needed to find a product that works. I’ve tried many spot treatments but I have to say this is my favorite due to how effective it is! It is more drying than the previous ones I’ve tried but it works a lot better! It’s strong! I apply this at the last step on top on my moisturizer and it still works well! If you have dry skin, a good moisturizer will help a lot (since my skin is slowly changing from combo to combo dry as the weather is getting cooler). After having this guy come into my life, these pesky pimples are more manageable and less inflamed! And most importantly, no irritation from this strong little guy. At $26/1oz, I totally think it’s worth it! It is a few bucks more than other spot treatments in the market but with this guy, I can totally feel it working. I highly recommend it if you don’t mind the tingling feeling! There are others that work slower and doesn’t give off a tingling feel. But I personally love feeling it’s working so 5 stars!
