2 MUST HAVE oils!
Everyone should be using face oils! Even if I have an oily face? Yes! It’ll balance out the natural oils in your skin. The key is to realise that not all facial oils are the same, some can nourish the skin, while others can be potential irritants. Oils can be good for reducing wrinkles, dry skin, shrink enlarged pores, banish zits and even be a great primer for your makeup. My two favorite facial oils have to be The Ordinary’s Hydrochloric acid and Trilogy's Rosehip Oil. trilogy - Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

I have been a huge fan of this product for a very long time. I feel like this isn’t a product that’s going to give you amazing or overnight results. It helps to hydrate, replenish and strengthen your skin’s moisture barrier. I personally love how quick this oil absorbs into my skin. I have combination skin and even on my more oily areas it’s not too much. It doesn’t leave that filmy greasy layer that a lot of other oil products do. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and nourished. I especially use this as a staple in my skincare routine in the fall and winter at night. However, I usually use it all year round. I’ve found that this product for me just keeps my skin feeling happy and healthy and gives me that lovely dewy look. I apply this after my moisturizer at night. A little goes a long way so don’t be scared off by the price. I use about 4 drops for my face and neck and just pat it into my skin. I love love love this stuff; I highly recommend as I’ve gone through many bottles of it.
My skin seems getting better but I still get new breakouts 🙃 Right after when I thought ooh my skin is visibly clearer but the next day bam! new breakouts. Using the tretinoin cream has been a roller coaster. Patience is really the key here. I don’t look at myself in the mirror as much as I used too is definitely helping me get through this. The more I look the more I obsessed and frustrated. So I’m just trying to let tretinoin do it’s job🤞🏽 I’m only using trilogy - Certified Organic Rosehip Oilday and night as moisturiser. I applied it before tretinoin and apply 1 more thin layer after tretinoin. I’ve been using this oil for 3 years. And this oil is the only thing that can moisturise me enough while on tretinoin. But, yesterday I started using Krave - Barrier Reliefas the first layer, and tretinoin second, and last rosehip oil. Hope this will help. Let me know if using 1 product is better 😂 If you have any tips for me please let me know below. Would really appreciate it in this tough journey :’)

An Affordable HA Serum to Add to your Routine
The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid serum is a cult favourite. It has won an Allure Beauty Award in 2019. It retails for only $6.80 CAD. When winter came and I was noticing that my skin was feeling dry by midday it was an easy decision to add it to my routine! Claims It is a pure vegan hyaluronic acid that includes low, medium and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, at a concentration of 2%. It is supported by Vitamin B5 for enhanced hydration. It targets dryness. Good for all skin types. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Hyaluronic Acid helps plump fine lines and improves elasticity and dryness. It’s a great addition to your skincare routine once you are in your 30s to help with hydration, as the amount of HA in our skin decreases as we get older. HA is sugar that is found naturally in our skin. It can hold 1000x its weight in water. Eating a diet with lots of fruits & vegetables with antioxidants can also help us retain HA. HA can we found in HA serums, an addition to serums with other actives, and creams. HA plays well with most other ingredients. A cream or serum with HA in different molecular weights allows it to seep into different layers of skin. HA are typically less expensive than other serums such as Vit C. It works best when applied to a damp face or before a water-based serum or moisturizer because it pulls the water into your skin. Otherwise it could pull the water out of your skin. My Experience The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The serum is clear and easily applies. I don’t experience any tackiness. When I first introduced this product to my routine I was using it AM & PM as it recommends, but I started noticing some irritation, red cheeks. I read some people can experience irritation from HA. I scaled back to only using in the AM. I put it on directly after my cleanser and before my Vit C serum. No more irritation. I have noticed that the dryness I was experiencing by midday is gone but I can’t say that I’ve noticed any difference in fine lines or wrinkles. A HA serum with more molecular weights and a higher percentage might have better results. But for $7 I can’t complain. Other HA to try include: VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum GLOW RECIPE - Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid SerumPAULA'S CHOICE - Hyaluronic Acid Booster

⭐️ So I’ve been using these 3 products from The Ordinary for the past week and here is my thoughts on each of them: • Lactic Acid: This is the perfect serum to introduce into your skincare routine if you’re new or semi-new to acids. It’s mild and super effective! I was dealing with a lot of dry skin, congestion, and dullness; within two uses of this serum, I was able to see the difference in my skin. Brighter, cleaner and smoother. If you have sensitive skin, you may experience some mild redness and tingling - that is completely normal and will subside within a couple seconds or mins. You certainly have to build your skin’s tolerance to products like these (aka actives). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 stars) • Hyaluronic Acid: I do like this serum, but I am still experiencing some *SLIGHT* dryness in my skin. Could also be caused from my other skincare products (cleanser, toner, etc...) but it’s working waaaaaayyy better than my last HA product that I was using. My skin has definitely seen a huge turn around within the past week so I don’t want to be too hard on this one; definitely more hydrated. So far so good! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars) • Squalane Oil: I love layering products and ending my routine with a face oil is always helpful for my skin. It really traps all the good products in and helps my skin from drying out throughout the night. It is a bit on the heavy/thick side but I prefer that. Doesn’t leave my skin looking or feeling greasy - just moisturized and plump! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 stars) I am overall extremely impressed with this brand. I was on the fence about purchasing from them, but I am so happy that I did. I bought these products because I was looking for exfoliating and hydrating serums and I absolutely found that. The best part is the price! 🤑 I’m always afraid of dropping lots of money on products and they end up not working, but these are pretty inexpensive and all three cost me about $20! Plus they work!! Give them a try if you’re curious. Hope this review is helpful 💚

AHA, BHA, Retinoid - do we really need all these?
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% I have been wanting to buy a skincare product with both AHA and BHA during the quarantine period. I was looking at Murad but it was sold out. :( Then I came across this product online and I didn’t hesitate to purchase it even though I am still unsure of how I feel about The Ordinary. This product turned out to be great. I love AHAs, BHAs, SAs, HAs, and all the other As because they’re here to make our skin look great. This specifically tingled a bit (I have sensitive skin so I’m pretty used to this feeling) but this is how you know that the product is working its wonders on your skin. I didn’t see any results until a couple of weeks into using it. My skin feels smoother and softer, and my complexion looks brighter now too. The Ordinary Retinoid 2% in Squalane I’ve been curious about retinoid after watching a couple of YouTube videos talking about it, saying how it did wonders to their skin. So I purchased this bottle to try. It has a pretty high amount of retinoid as other products contain about 0.2% only. I thought this would give me instant results. I apply this at night only cause it’s sensitive to the sun’s rays. You don’t want your face to be burning while wearing this. I apply just 3 drops of this potent solution on my ultra dry face. I double cleanse my face then I wait for 1 hour for it to be completely dry. I apply this, wait for another 25 mins, then apply my serums, moisturizer, and eye cream. I had some dry flaking skin falling out of my face, which means the product is working as it’s meant to get rid of the dry outer layer and reveal a younger layer of skin. I love this product! Definitely a must try!

The Ordinary - honest review
So I started seeing The Ordinary products all over my social media’s and decided to jump on the hype train. My first purchase from this product line were the Niacinamide and the Hyaluronic acid serums. I was so excited!!! I love the simple and to-the-point packaging. I absolutely love that they come in glass instead of plastic as well. Unfortunately, that is where my love for these serums ended. When using these serums, I found that they applied well but were kind of sticky once applied. After about an hour the serums started to pill really badly on my skin. I had originally purchased with the intention of using morning and night, but because of the pulling I could only use at night. I didn’t see any real difference in my skin after using them, which really bummed me out because I wanted to love these products so bad! Overall I gave each serum 3/5 stars ⭐️- basically for the packaging and the fact that they use clean ingredients. I would give 1/5 stars for texture and results. This is a personal review as I know that a lot of people have had great results with these serums. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I have super dry skin even if you can’t tell by looking at it, so I’d love to hear from others with dry skin and how these products worked for them!

Rapid Reviews: The Ordinary Serums
The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% My absolute favourite vitamin c serum, with a boost of alpha arbutin. Amazing at lightening PIH and uneven tone. It does have a slightly unpleasant slick texture that is 100% worth the quick results and gentleness. It’ll be hard for me to pay to try another vitamin c serum considering the affordable price and wonderful results I’ve experienced. The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane I used the various levels of TO’s Retinol in Squalane to slowly adjust my skin to retinol. Love them! They soaked in well during autumn and winter, with zero irritation and minimal purging. I did find they absorb better applied alone. Didn’t help my acne much but I did see scar texture improvement! It’s so silky and softening, I can’t imagine another retinol being better for those with dry skin. The Ordinary - Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% I honestly don’t notice a difference when I use this serum. It’s for long-term skin health so I didn’t expect much in the couple months of use, but it feels slick on skin for an unfortunate length of time so I dreaded applying it. I prefer my Paula’s Choice antioxidant serums. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Virgin Sea-Buckthorn Fruit Oil This stains tf out of shirts and pillows. Your face will be rusty orange for a couple hours. It smells kind of weird. But it is the most calming, nourishing oil I’ve ever used- moreso than rosehip, marula, jojoba, squalane, even from luxury brands. I’m going to order a refill for my tretinoin journey! It heals extracted blemishes beautifully and leaves skin silky by morning. I can’t recommend this enough for anyone with dry skin and those that pick at their face/acne. The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA If your skin dislikes vitamin c (or you already have a vitamin c serum) but you want to fade hyperpigmentation and uneven tone? This stuff has been a favourite in my routine for years until I switched to the (first) mentioned sister product. It applies light, soaks in quickly, caused no irritation, and I saw rapid results compared to vitamin c. Not as quick as Azelaic Acid, but close! Love it. The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% Not pictured but I love it so immensely. It takes a million years to absorb (expect tacky skin until it does) but the soothing, healing aspect has me dreading when my bottle runs out. For a seriously packed peptide serum, it’s pretty affordable- $28.90 for 30 mL. The inability to mix it with acids is annoying but my blemishes are always so much less red and disappear very quickly when I use this serum. It does have a somewhat metallic scent but I happily deal with it and recommend its sister product (The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' ) as an intro the peptides and this for anyone looking to try out copper peptides for their improved healing properties!

When You Need that Extra Refresh
Today I woke up feeling quite blah and wanted to feel more refreshed. I don’t currently have any apparent issues with my skin but I wanted to make my skin look and feel more awake. Do you ever wake up feeling just dull and wanting to give yourself that boost, even if it’s just something small like taking the time to do your skincare? I randomly picked out the products I thought would be perfect for making my skin feel refreshed and this is what I came up with. Of course you should pick any products you feel will do the trick for you :) 1). I first cleansed my skin (and skipped the toner today) 2). I applied the The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I always apply this all over my face, including under my eyes because it’s so hydrating and gentle. 3). Next, because niacinamide is the unicorn of all skincare products and mixes well with everything, I chose to add that next. It’s great if you have any noticeable redness or blemishes. 4). I applied The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG to depuff my eyes. 5). I then followed with OLAY - Eyes Brightening Eye Cream for that extra hydration (as if I didn’t get enough from the hyaluronic acid haha). 6). Then I applied REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Glow Daily Vitamin C Gel Cream I know some online articles say not to mix vitamin C with niacinamide as they think they counteract each other’s benefits, but there’s no proof that this actually happens. With that being said, I love this vitamin C gel cream because it smells amazing and it makes my skin look nice and bright. 7). And just because I felt like it, I finished with a tiny bit of The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Although my skin isn’t dry, I felt the more moisture the more refreshed I’d feel. I love all of these products and highly recommend everyone to try them out, even if it’s just a sample. I have nothing bad to say about any of them. If you’re ever just feeling dull, blah, or needing a pick-me-up, it’s nice to just take the time to treat your skin. Use the products your skin agrees with, of course. I have normal skin and I’m thankful all of these products agree with my skin.
The Ordinary-Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
The most cost efficient chemical exfoliant✨
The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA The most effective and cost efficient chemical exfoliant ever produced! One of the Ordinary’s greatest product. Lactic acid is a great chemical exfoliant and is used to treat textured skin, dullness and uneven texture. I have been using this product for approximately 5 months and it has significantly overpowered any physical exfoliant out there. Perfect for all skin types from dry to normal. —————————————— How to use? Lactic acid is extremely acidic and can be harmful if used at the wrong time, with the wrong products or too often. Additionally, exfoliating too much can lead to dryness, peeling and/cracks. Thus, it is important to only use lactic acid 1-2 times per week. Lactic acid also cannot be used with certain types of vitamin C’s and niacinamides, as a result, do your research with each product before applying to the skin. Furthermore, lactic acid is the most effective during the night as skin cells replenish the most during the nighttime. Lastly, it is important to build a tolerance for lactic acid, start with a low percentage and build your tolerance. Skin routine including lactic acid can be as following: rinse face cleanse tone apply drops of lactic acid moisturize —————————————— Recommend 80% Throughout my experience, I would recommend lactic acid to anyone who is looking to exfoliate the skin. This product is also tremendous for dry to normal to oily skin. However, it may not be the best chemical exfoliant for sensitive skin types or people who suffer from eczema. Most importantly, in order to use this product, one must do extensive research to know how to use it and how to implement it in your skin regimen. If not used properly it can cause serious damage to the skin due to its extreme acidic concentration.
