Which POREfessional Primer is for me?
It can sometimes be hard to find a great primer for your makeup bag. Benefit has two fantastic POREfessional primers available but how do you decide which one is best for you? The original is a cult-favourite and no doubt one of the best in the market which is why they released pearl primer, a slightly edited version tailored to target dull and dryness with a little more of a pink tone. So which one is for you? benefit - The POREfessional Face Primer

StyleEIn all honesty Benefits primer is definitely not the best it balls up and cakes under my foundation.. I have had the luxury of using many different primers yes , at first it Appears fantastic but you can not build on it. I say don't waste your money. Benefits makes many other fantastic products 😜 No way are their primers the Best

Super close-up beauty - Skin under a microscope
My son got a nice little digital microscope for Christmas. So naturally, I’m gonna investigate my skin with it, duh! In case everyone needs further evidence/reminders to be extra, super, crazy gentle with your skin - here it is. I’m in my 40’s now. I had sporadic acne as a teenager and hormonal acne throughout my 20’s. Nothing out of the ordinary. I think it made me crazy enough to go to a dermatologist two or three times. But, I picked and popped everything!!!! I didn’t really know better. In the late 80’s/early 90’s we slapped some Noxema on everything and called it a day. Then when I was in college Biore’ Pore Strips came out. In fact, we all got “Welcome” bags in our dorm rooms and they had pore strips in them. That was viral marketing back then. So I used those bad boys like crazy. For years! I didn’t even have “blackheads” but no one who wasn’t a Derm even knew was a sebaceous filament was! Cut to now. Now, when I look at my skin up close I can see thickened, darker areas of skin where I previously had acne and picked/popped constantly. Now, I have a couple deep ice pick scars from trying to dig out cystic pimples. benefit - The POREfessional Face Primer is my every single day spackle to make those holes even with the rest of my face (Will do a microscope pic of that another time) And now, around my nose where I worked to remove “blackheads” that didn’t exist you can see there area tiny broken capillaries that make the whole area look pinkish and will only worsen with age. (The top 2 photos are areas of my face where the skin is relatively undamaged - the bottom 2 you can see what happens when you squeeze and tear stuff out of your pores) Being extra, overly gentle now will pay off later. Don’t pull at your face when brushing or swiping your make-up on. Don’t scrub it raw when washing. Don’t use harsh chemical laden products. And seriously please don’t use those damn pore strips 😝♥️ (Also, just realized my skin has a weird iridescent scaley look to it. I have Vitamin C serum on. It seems to dry leaving this film on my skin 😉 )

Primerize me, Cap’n! 🦜
Good evening, everyone! Been a busy week for me, so sorry for lack of posts. I got a new mini lighting booth for my Poshmark store and wanted to test it out tonight. Pretty pleased so far 😁 Here are three primers that I’m currently playing with. My tried and true is the Benefit Porefessional Primer. I honestly don’t use it under makeup; I use it to blur my skin and then use translucent powder over it to keep me from getting oily on “no makeup” days. I love the illumination of the pearl version as I still get a healthy little glow going. I’ve yet to try the Laneige one, but have wanted to for a while now. Thankfully, Sephora has been offering samples with orders so I got a couple. The TIS one is a classic Korean primer. It’s probably the only one that has ever worked for me under makeup. My combo skin typically just breaks down any and all primers, so I never use them under makeup. Remember to hydrate and check your WiFi 😘
PRODUCT: benefit POREfessional Pearl Primer STATUS: I like it! PRICE: $13 USD SIZE: 7.5 mL WHERE: Sephora . If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that I rarely wear “real” makeup (I’m just awful at it and have a toddler who likes to wipe her hands all over my face). So I usually use primer alone on my nose and under-eyes on days I feel the need to blur my pores and cover up some imperfections. For this purpose, Porefessional Pearl Primer works great! My only complaint would be that it has a more shiny finish. My skin is already pretty shiny so, I generally prefer primers with a matte finish. Perhaps the original Porefessional would have been a better choice but I do like the brightening Pearl offers for my under-eyes. . I finally had the opportunity to wear this under makeup last Saturday and it worked wonderfully! My makeup easily glided over the primer, it didn’t pill, nor did it break over the course of the day. I am by no means an expert on makeup (or primer for that matter) but I have been very happy with the application and functionality of Porefessional! .
Are these dupes?? Beauty Blender The Leveler is a lightweight, smoothing primer that helps reduce the appearance of pores, redness, and uneven texture. This primer is very similar to the Dr. Brandt Pores No More Primer. The Dr. Brandt primer is a two-in-one pore refiner and makeup primer that helps diminish the look of pores and imperfections, mattifies the skin, and creates a smooth canvas. Both primers claim to be matte while smoothing our the looks of pores and wrinkles. These are so similar the only true difference is the price! The Dr Brandt primer retails for $45 at Sephora whole the beauty blender primer is $32 at Sephora. I will say I like the dr Brandt more and it has a more medicinal smell to it. Both perform the same. dr. brandt - Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer beautyblender - Pore Minimizing Primer

This or That? Dr. Brandt vs. Benefit
dr. brandt - Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer benefit - The POREfessional Face Primer For all the oily/combo girls out there (like me!) there is no doubt that the Benefit Pore-Fessional was the pioneer of the pore-filling primers and it remains a cult-favorite until today. It wasn’t until I tried the Dr. Brandt Pores No More that I knew that there were better options. DR. BRANDT PORES NO MORE More liquid texture actually fills in pores and fine lines and makes the skin look smooth and flawless. I find that makeup lays really well on top of it and it also helps to control my oil throughout the day, this is my holy grail primer and I’ve gone through 3 tubes and not planning on stopping any time soon. $45 BENEFIT PORE-FESSIONAL This was the first primer I ever tried and I remember liking it, but the more I used it, the less I loved it. It has a really thick texture which sits on top of the skin. This also makes it so that it has a tendency to pill when other products are applied, especially if you use a beauty blender. $32 In my opinion, Dr. Brandt is the clear winner of the This or That challenge!

My go-to products for a simple base makeup
Skin tone: fair to light Skin type: dry to combination, oily T-zone I know that there will be a few days each month, you have to go out but don’t want to spend a lot of time making a complete makeup, especially base makeup. Think about concealer, foundation, highlighter, bronzer blabla, I always want to skip some steps. When I have to go outside but be lazy about making up, I will choose these two products to make base makeup. #1 BENEFIT COSMETICS The POREfessional Face Primer The POREfessional Face Primer is a lightweight balm that quickly minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines for smooth skin. It can mattify shine and minimize the appearance of pores when worn alone or under makeup. Before my makeup, I would pat a thin layer out from the center of the face, then apply makeup. It would prepare a flawless and smooth skin for later makeup. All of my pores would be hidden. I bought the largest size of it, but I regret to buy this size. Because a little can goes a long way, it cannot be emptied in one year I think. #2 Cle De Peau VOILE CRÈME CORRECTEUR N CORRECTING CREAM VEIL This primer is a hot item in worldwide. It’s really hard to buy. Fortunately, I bought one. After using the Benefit pore primer, I would choose this correcting cream to finish my base makeup. IT instantly diffuses dullness and blurs skin’s imperfections for a smooth, refreshed finish. It’s easy to blend. The shade of it is natural compared to foundations. It would cover some tiny scars and create flawless skin. If you don’t have time or just too lazy to do full makeup, try these two products. They will not let you down. But this combo doesn’t suit to skin with severe scar or hyperpigmentation problems because of the light coverage.

Ingredient spotlight: the silk canvas
I’ll admit it: I used to think primers were unnecessary, or that you only needed one if you were “serious” about makeup and did a full beat face every day. Fortunately, I recently saw the error of my ways and learned that I had been missing out BIG TIME. No wonder my makeup always creased by the end of the day 🙃 I received this primer as part of a Cherie-sponsored giveaway (yay!) and I was super excited to try it, as I had never tried anything from Tatcha. My first impressions: this looks, feels, and smells luxurious. It’s described as a velvety priming balm that melts into skin and protects it from makeup: basically, it keeps makeup out of your pores. It smooths on so well and it really does feel like it’s melting into my skin. Tatcha says you only need an amount the size of a rice grain, and while I think I use slightly more than that, you really don’t need much. With the amount you get, I think the price tag of $52 is very fair. I think I could use this every day for... six months? More? I typically don’t wear makeup on weekends, so it’ll probably last me even longer than that. As the name indicates, this product contains silk: both silk powder and hydrolyzed silk. Tatcha says that the silks diminish the look of pores and fine lines, and it also helps makeup glide on smoother and last longer, giving a soft focus finish. I personally love the idea of silk in skincare and makeup—just thinking about it makes my skin feel smoother. I do think this product delivers on its claims. I’ve used other primers, and this one delivers as well as MILK’s hydrogrip primer (my favorite). While I like the cooling feeling of MILK’s primer, the silkiness of this one is very addicting as well. I think it comes down to which texture you prefer (gel or balm), because they both work well. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality primer. I think this would work well for all skin types. I’m oily and it helps keep my shine under control, but everyone could use a little help getting their makeup to last longer. I know the price tag can seem a bit steep, but seriously, you need the tiniest amount. Have you tried The Silk Canvas? What did you think?

Pores? We Don’t Know Her
I’ve been using this magical face primer for two years ever since I saw Jeffree Star rave about it on his channel - I’ve been hooked since! I have a large makeup collection & I am constantly adding and trying new products, so the fact that I continue to keep using this primer and always have to keep a backup on hand says A LOT! The name “No Poreblem” is so incredibly fitting as this primer certainly lives up to all of its claims - this lightweight, silky smooth primer fills in all of your pores, lines, and uneven texture, giving you a true even canvas to work with when applying makeup. I’ve been known to even wear just this primer and no foundation at all over it just to even out my skin on days where I’m on a crunch for time! There are a lot of silicone, silky based primers on the market, and having oily combination skin, I usually stray away from them but this primer doesn’t make my skin look oily or greasy. Every foundation I’ve worn on top of this primer always wears beautifully on top. This primer retails for $18 but Touch in Sol hosts a lot of sales on their website so you could get this for a lot less! Either way, totally worth every penny!

Wakeup Wednesday, Another Snow Day here in Vanco
Wakeup Wednesday, Another Snow Day here in Vancouver ❄️ - These are some of the primers I have been trying for the past few months ✨ @yslbeauty is my favourite primer to use when I have a long day at work and I’m gonna have no time for touch ups. I have been using this primer for more than a year now and I love it. It blurs out any imperfections. - ✨ @stilacanada one prep prime is my winter essential primer as my skin gets extremely dry, and one prep nourishes & smooths my skin. It does a great job of preparing my skin for a makeup look. - ✨ @maccosmeticscanada The Natural Radiance primer does hydrate my skin very well. It gives my skin a great boost of radiance on those dull days. - ✨ @lisewatier base miracle primer reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines. It also reduces the appearance of dark spots. Its very smooth and similar to the smashbox primer. ✨ Overall, I tend to lean more on the @yslbeauty and @stilacanada primers . I just find they work better with my skin than the others. The only concern I have sometimes is choosing the right moisturizer before, because with certain moisturizers it does result in piling. - - - - - #makeup#makeupreview#makeupproducts#makeupjunkie#skincareproducts#stila#ysl#maccosmetics#lisewatier#primer#prep#skin#cosmetics#beauty
