Acne Scars

If you are dealing with acne scarring, maybe this post will help! Acne scars are formed when a breakout penetrates the skin deeply and damages the tissues beneath it. During the healing process, the body produces collagen—a substance that gives the skin support. If the body produces too little or too much collagen, you will see a scar. Who is at risk for acne scarring? When a person
Has inflammatory (swollen, reddish, and painful) acne. These often include acne cysts and nodules. This type of acne tends to penetrate deep into the skin, which damages the skin.
Delays or does not treat inflammatory acne
The longer a person has inflammatory acne, the greater the risk of scarring.
Picks, squeezes, or pops acne
This increases inflammation, which increases the risk of scarring.
Has a blood relative who developed acne scars
Genes play a large role. Products that are recommended by dermatologists: If you have tried over the counter products and still aren’t seeing any results, your best bet is to see a good dermatologist. They use the following treatments:
Laser skin resurfacing
Chemical peeling
Dermabrasion
Microdermabrasion (differs from kits bought for at-home use)
Resurfacing works well for treating acne scars that are nearly flat (not too deep). Even dermabrasion, which removes the top layers of skin and some of the middle layers, cannot effectively treat deep acne scars. For deeper scarring, they sometimes use fillers. A dermatologist may fill acne scars with collagen, the patient’s own fat, or another substance. Many fillers give temporary results, which last between 6 and 18 months. Some fillers are permanent. Collagen -induction therapy, skin tightening, electrodesication, and even scar surgery are also used. The takeaway is don’t think that you don’t have options! Definitely give the products I listed a good try. It can take months and months to really start seeing results so you definitely need to be patient. If those do not work for you, your dermatologist has a ton of options ❤️ Remember that no matter your skin, you are beautiful!!!

getting off makeup and clear skin with rosacea!
okay... so I know I've posted this before, and Cherie is (devastatingly) closing down, but I thought I'd share one last post. This really works. one is a prescription and there are a couple items missing, so I'll add them to the pictures. Here is the order they say to put on skincare (as depicted) 1) makeup remover/wash (I use Queen Helene cold cream that I SWEAR by, sometimes BURT’S BEES - BURT‘S BEES Sensitive Facial Cleanser ) 2) Facewash/second face wash (I use DERMA•E - Sensitive Skin Cleanser and Joeseph anti Acne soap 10% sulfur) 3) Toner (I use THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner ) 4) Serums (I use a few... my prescription Amzeeq, mostly The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% , and DERMA•E - Blue Light Shield Concentrated Serum ) 5) Spot Treatments (Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment , tea tree oil when needed) 6) Eye Cream (not pictured - DERMA•E - Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream ) 7) Moisturizer (2 different kinds depending on how dry I am- pictured: Alba Botanica Aloe Green tea moisturizer, not pictured: skinfix - Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream ) 8) Retinol: Now, because I have rosacea, I use a retinol alternative. The best one for sensitive skin I found is The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion use at night only) 9) Face Oil: HEAR ME OUT: If you have oily skin, it's not the WORST thing to use an oil. As a matter of fact, it may work well. BEST ONE BY FAR IS ROSEHIP OIL. I can't tell you how amazing it is The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil , and JOSIE MARAN - Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment during the day) wear sunscreen during the day, and put it in place of retinol. I use Glossier. - Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen it's a great light moisturizer, too. And at night in the winter if it's super dry, I'll put petroleum jelly around the corners of my eyes and lips. The results don't lie, Cherie babes (: comment below I'd you know of a better eye cream.

Empties - will I repurchase?
I complied them all together, my empties over the last few months, and will split into two posts. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads I love these for the convenience. They are daily treatments pads with lactic and glycolic acids to safely exfoliate the skin, helping it appear brighter and approve texture. I was able to use these daily if I wished but being I use a retinol I didn’t use them on the night I would use my retinol. For me, they didn’t pack enough punch. I’ve been using a lot one my face over the last few years and while I still have to be careful, I find there are products that just don’t do it for me. These would be great for beginners or those with sensitive skin. 60 pads for $34 - again I liked the convenience but I feel you get more bang for your buck with a liquid exfoliate cause I sure get more then 60 uses out of mine. ⭐️No-repurchase CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Brightening Solution Set I’ve reviewed this before so I am not going to go into details. Please check my page if you’re looking for more info on it. I really do love the serum but I find I like the results I get from using a vitamin c and exfoliating. I need more than just a brightening solution as I have some scaring. The serum in this set is so very good for its brightening abilities. I went through three sets before giving it up. I do notice my face is not as glowy but I’m not sure if that’s from me being a bit more lazy with my skincare routine or from missing this. We’ll see. ⭐️Possible- repurchase YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi Not my favorite but is a good moisturizer. I’ve also reviewed this before. I prefer their Superfood Whip Moisturizer over this as I just like the texture and it’s a great daytime moisturizer for me. More in-depth review on my page ⭐️No-repurchase YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial I’ve reviewed this twice now so please see my page. Thais will be a forever purchase as of now! Definitely a fave of mine. I use once a week. ⭐️ repurchase YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask same as the last. I’ve purchased three so far. My favorite night time moisturizer. More in-depth reviews on my page ⭐️repurchase Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum this formula has changed as it had an ingredient that was bad. I have went through 3 original minis and loved the results but won’t repurchase due to the formula change. I saw almost instant results in spots being lifted. I have now switched to their Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment and it works just as good. I’m continuing to work on stubborn acne spots and when I am consistent with this and exfoliating, my scars and spots are almost invisible! ⭐️repurchase Invisiscar ❤️🍒

🌑 i have a ton of dark spots from acne scars, and they usually take a really long time and fade. But this new serum that I got speeds it up to a level even I did not expect! 🌗 the product Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum the active ingredient is 2% hydroquinone, skin lightening agent which can literally bleach your skin 🌖i SPOT apply because I have very tan skin already and I am not trying to bleach my whole face, if you get my drift. my dark spors disappeared in about three days, which is the fastest I’ve ever seen my skin recover! 🌕 $72 for a full size bottle that Will probably last forever because I only use it as a spot treatment. The mini size which is what I have is only $25 and I’ve been using it for about two weeks and you can barely tell!

Allies of Skin - Mandelic Pigmentation Corrector Night Serum this product has changed my skin! i suffer from hyper pigmentation and scarring because i’m of deeper complexion. I put this on once a night with an oil and it really brightens my hyperpigmentation and make my skin all even and gorgeous! whenever i have a scar from any acne marks this will have it faded to almost nothing in a week and a half. sometimes if my skin is looking good i’ll just use it on my spots! such a life savor! the texture is a bit tacky when it’s wet so it really sticks to the skin and as it dries feels like nothing! OBSESSED!

Broke me out in painful whiteheads
Broke me out in painful whiteheads
I got this trial size as a 100 point reward with a purchase at Sephora. I was hoping it will help with some sunspots and an acne scar on my face. I followed the directions by applying a thin layer to cleansed skin. I thought it was weird to not spot treat but did it anyway. Welp, I broke out into painful acne all over my face. Some were red and under the skin but a few were nasty white heads. The whiteheads hurt so I stopped using this and just put up. Since I stopped using it and acne healed up; I went back to my cica sleeping mask and now my skin is pretty much back to normal. I wasn’t able to use it more than 3 times so I’m not sure if it helps fade dark spots but it’s not worth getting painful acne on my face. I am thinking of trying it on my body where I have scars but still nervous if it will cause me to break out. I don’t recommend using this on your face if you are acne prone at all. Powerful Hyperpigmentation Solution
Powerful Hyperpigmentation Solution
Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum This serum is a classic dark spot treatment and one of Murad's most famous products! Unlike night treatments that you apply to your whole face, I only use this on spots I need to be lightened. This is mostly composed of 2% Hydroquinone as it's effective ingredient, as well as glycolic acid which makes the hydroquinone work better. Hydroquinone is a bleaching agent and not for sensitive skin. This is strong stuff and the highest concentration available without a prescription in the US, and you certainly need to use sunscreen with it. It has the texture of an AHA gel - it's clear and absorbs quickly. It does have a bit of a funny (and unappealing) chemical smell that hydroquinone products have. Every month, I get deep cystic acne that is hormonal which leaves a scar and PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation). I use this as spot treatment once the acne portion is gone and it's just a dark spot. This isn't a miracle worker, but it has definitely lightened those spots. Normally they take a few weeks to fully fade but I feel if I use this immediately they seem less dark in a few days. The full 30ml size is $72, but I purchased the 10ml travel size for $23, which is about the same price per ounce. It comes in a clear plastic pump. I don't recommend anyone purchase the full size of this since you need so little and this is not something you'd spread on your whole face like a serum. For $23 you can get a lot of uses of this as spot treatment. I give this 5/5 stars. It doesn't smell nice but is very effective if you want to treat a scar or a small darkened area.

Gentle Retinol Serum!!
Gentle Retinol Serum!!
Hey Babes!! 👋🏼👋🏼 I’ve recently starting incorporating retinol into my nightly regimen to avoid wrinkles when I’m older LOL. I’ve been using the YEOUTH - Retinol, 2.5% Serum ! This serum contains Vitamin E, Aloe Vera and Hyaluronic Acid!! This combination make this serum soothing, hydrating, exfoliating and healing. 🙀 The texture is on the thicker side for a serum because of the Aloe Vera, but dries on the skin quick and nice without a tacky feeling. 👍🏼 If you have used retinol before, it has a very specific smell and this product has that scent, but it’s not over bearing. I think this brand because they are free from many things. (See 2nd pic) I’ve been using this daily in the evening and my skin looks and feels great! Haven’t had any breakouts, my texture is improving and some dark spots on my skin are fading. 😍😍 There is no irritation when applying and it leaves my skin soft. Personally, I feel even those with sensitive skin can use this product. Avoid if you’re sunburnt though or have a compromised barrier just in case. The serum is small, 1oz and retails for an affordable price of $19.95 on the Yeouth website. Xoxo, Blyssey #cheriecreator #retinolserum #antiagingserum

🤔How to Save Your Dark Spots?
🤔How to Save Your Dark Spots?
Bebes, I'm not gonna lie, dark spots are so hard to deal with. They can be caused by excess sun exposure, acne, or even hormonal changesis - literally one of the most difficult skin problems to get rid of. But babes, don't worry - take a look at these super useful tips on saving your dark spots, and I guarantee you -- these tips work! You got this! @MatthewBorst "First of all, don’t be so hard on yourself your complexion is not horrible at all!! Definitely listen to everyone’s advice about using a daily SPF! It will prevent your current dark spots from getting darker and prevent new ones. It’s also sooo important to wear SPF daily (even when inside) when you’re using strong acids. Also check out the Inkey List’s Vitamin C + EGF serum which will help brighten/even out the complexion (vitamin c) and will also stimulate new cell growth beneath the surface (from the EGF) which is important after using strong acids. Consistency is key - you got this!" @Kim_Seung“For dark spots I recommend using The ordinary Niacinamide 10% Zinc 1% this product is really great for oily skin. And it’s specifically for dark spots/Hyper pigmentation. It has niacinamide which helps sooth the skin and also Help brighten dark spots. Zinc is also a really great ingredient if you want to get rid of hyper pigmentation. You can get it at Ulta or Sephora. ($5) Or if you prefer vitamin c serum: Hyper skin Brightening Vitamin C serum. This product uses absorbic acid which is the most stable form of vitamin c. To help with Hyper pigmentation/dark spots. It also contains Aloe Vera to help reduce sensitivity. And a bunch more Plant extracts. ($36) Or if you want a cheaper Vitamin c serum. Naturium: Vitamin C Complex 22% this also contains Absorbic acid whic is the most stable form of vitamin c. It also contains Papaya extract to Gently exfoliate your skin. These are just recommendations that will work for Majority of people. Everyone’s skin is different and unique!💜” Oh and I forgot to add that Getting rid of dark spots takes time. Give it a few months before actually getting the results you want. But if that doesn’t work I would recommend micro needling. But have it done by a Professional because you can mess up your skin if you buy one online. What's your experience of dealing with dark spots? My fellow Cherie users, share your experience and tips below to help each other out.
