21 DAYS LATER WITH THE ORDINARY

Liav
So my first post was when I used the products for 3 days... Today it’s been 21 days of consistent use of everything you see here! The SHISEIDO - Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Cream Enriched
i use it during the AM but is a bit to oily for me and doesn’t sink into my skin as I would like so I will discontinue it after I’m done using it (it was pretty pricey so I’m going to finish it LOL) DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel
has worked so far .. I haven’t had any major breakouts .. it’s light and watery once you put it on your face.. you also don’t need a lot .. I need to buy another one because I bought the small size to test it out... there were a lot of reviews indicating that your face would “purge” when you first start using it but that wasn’t the case for me.. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
I use it at night since I can’t mix it with vitamin c and it does control your oil and breakouts.. I don’t wake up oily AF anymore lol..it does sting sometimes .. specially after a mask or the peel.. but nothing I can’t handle... The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
I’m using it 1x a week .. I started with 5 min first and then 8 min and then finally 10 min.... I was scared it would burn my face off... it does tingle and burn but it goes away quickly. I use The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
at night after applying everything to my face.. super light.. it seals everything in so it’s my last step... my skin really absorbs it.. HADALABO - Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist
I read about this in the Japanese industry... and it’s one of the leading timers/lotions used.. I use it am/pm after cleansing ... all you need is a pea size for all your face.. you can pay it all over and it quickly disappears... I really like - Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Treatment Essence
Since I already have oily skin I was scared to get a vitamin C that was extremely oily.. this is another product use in the Japanese industry and it’s very soft and light.. my skin absorbs it right away without leaving any heavy traces of oil ... I have definitely seen changes in my skin pigmentation and the amount of breakouts I’ve had .. even when I was on my period... I will continue the routine and keep you all posted!!!

My Take Away for Beginners with Facial Peel🙅🏼‍
I first came to know AHA and BHA was from a girl I met at nail salon. She said that it is good for pores and can improve skin texture. She worked as a dermatologist and I was supper excited to get the brand she was recommending from sephora. In fact, you don’t need to be scared when you hear chemical peel. It is like cleansing and moisturizing. It should be included in your skin care routine due to the following benefits: It can improve the texture of the skin, promote the absorption of skin care products, accelerate skin metabolism, as well as brightening against hyperpigmentation. so regular chemical peel is actually very necessary and essential for your skin. I didnt do enough research on how to properly use it, I started with high concentration and on a daily basis which caused my skin to peel terribly. Here are some research I did afterwards and my take away for beginners. AHA - AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acid, Is Water Soluble and Ideal for Dry Skin. It can exfoliate old skin and unclog pores. BHA - BHA stands for beta hydroxy acid, Works Best for Oily Skin and acne pore skin. It can effectively inhibits acne and acne, has anti-bacterial function, cleans pores, removes blackheads and keratosis, exfoliates and improves the symptoms of enlarged pores. Salicylic acid also has anti-aging effects. 💡 Once a week 💡Apply on clean and dry skin for 20 minutes (you can start with 10 min first) 💡A little tingling and light burning in the first few minutes, it will disappear after a few seconds 💡Simply rinse off with warm water, and then use soothing and gentle skin care 💡Control the concentration of acid, from low to high, starting from low concentration, Slowly build tolerance from local to full face 💡Please remember to use it at night or with sunscreen during the day The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

FIRST POST/ONE WEEK RESULTS ✨
Hi there! I’m so excited to share my skincare journey with all of you and hopefully we can learn from each other’s experiences. I’ve already learned a lot from Cherie and that’s why I decided to purchase some products from The Ordinary and give them a try to save my skin. I have oily skin and as you can see I’m struggling with acne, dark spots, and dark circles. Not sure what type of acne I have, but it seems hormonal to me. I started to break out like this about two months ago. Before that, I’d break out once in a while during my period or when eating too much junk food. A week ago (Oct. 10th), I started the following skincare routine: AM - Cleanse Cetaphil - Cetaphil Gentle Foaming Cleanser - Treat The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG (I think I had a reaction to caffeine solution - my right eye started itching so I discontinued it from now) - Moisturize CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 PM - Remove makeup CeraVe - Makeup Removing Cleanser Cloths - Cleanse Cetaphil - Cetaphil Gentle Foaming Cleanser - Treat The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - Moisturize CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin Please swipe to see the results so far! I’m really happy with The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% since it’s clearing out the acne. My face feels and looks better and I think there’s a small improvement. I’d love to hear your advice and suggestions! Also, I’d like to implement The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solutionand The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutionto my skincare routine. Any suggestions on how/when to use them? Thank you in advance!

New Goodies!!
Super excited to add these new products to my skincare routine! so far, i’ve only used the aveeno ultra calming cleanser (which lathers SOOOOO nicely) and differin gel as a spot treatment (you’re supposed use on the entire face) but i used as a spot treatment anyway and overnight, the whiteheads that i was recently worrying about are all dried up! this shit is great! for anyone who uses retinols/ retinoids like myself, I would highly reccommend cleansing your face with micellar water during the middle of the day if you usually wear no makeup but if not, i would use before doing your nighttime skincare routine. it’s helped pick up a lot of dead skin cells, dirt and oil that i could’ve missed while washing! can’t wait to update you guys on my skincare journey and mega thank you to @D.Bennett for recommending some of these products to me!! you’re a god send 🥺

RENTINOIDs: the BEST super ingredient
🌸 note: two of the products in my picture are prescription only, high grade retinoids. but i have tagged their drug store dupes that are the SAME product with a lower concentration 🌸 WHAT IS A RETINOL? in the most basic form, a retinoid is a form of VITAMIN A which encourages skin cells to break down and turn over faster, resulting in reduction of acne, wrinkles, dark spots and signs of aging. It promotes collagen production, unclogs pores, and reduces scarring. its actually thickens skin, preventing wrinkles from forming ☀️☀️ALWAYS USE AN SPF WITH RETINOIDS☀️☀️ because your skin cells are dying and regenerating so quickly, you are much more prone to sunburns. And we know sunburns are literally life-threatening they vary HIGHLY in strength (weak to strong list) - retinoid esters: The weakest version of a retinoid, but is good for sensitive skin, surface level retinol: found in a variety of products, works on the cellular level of skin - adapalene (differin): Used to be prescription only but can now be found in a low-dose age in most drug stores. penetrates deeper and slows the production of sebum with faster cell turnover - retinoic acid (Retin-A/tretinoin): works deeper in the skin, can produce overnight results in the form of dead skin peeling. Very advanced skin cell turnover, as it penetrates and stimulates cell death and production. Skin can become very sensitive, irritated , and red - isotretinoin (Accutane): essentially sebum production is very limited and skin cell turnover is dramatically increased. on ingestible medication that will make your skin peel, dry out, and really kill acne. It’s prescription only but very effective. 🌸 products i use! prescription only: ADAPALENE 0.3% dupe: DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel ADAPALENE is the primary form of retinol in this product. this has been my go to product for years, it makes me less sun sensitive then Retin-A 0.05%, while still giving me excellent skin cell turnover and anti aging benefits. It helped my skin go from absolute shiz to a much cleaner glowing face (see 4th pic) prescription only: RETIN-A 0.05% dupe: janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream TRETENOIN is the primary form of retinoid in this product. these two may actually be the same product, but the one that I have I know is usually prescription grade. it will make your skin peel overnight, so I use it as a spot treatment if I get any deep set nodular acne. i used this for a couple years but it made me really sun sensitive, it is very strong! luxury brand: SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum RETINOL ESTER and CoQ10 are the primary forms of retinal in this product. this claims to have a 6.5% blend of stabilize retinoids and botanical retinoid alternative extracts. I think that it is incredibly overpriced for what it is. There are very similar dupes such as those from the inkey list and the ordinary

Favourite acne scarring fading products?
2 years ago I had successes with COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% to fade mild acne scarring. More recently this year I had a bad breakout (see my profile for pictures) which left me with a lot of scarring, more than I’ve ever had in my life 🥺 so now I’m looking for something a bit stronger. I have tried PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster before my breakout, but I believe this was one of the causes of my breakouts so I’m hesitant to try this again, at least until my skin barrier is fuller recovered. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% works well with my skin but I feel results are slow. Maybe I’m impatient 😅 I have not tried Melano CC Intensive Anti-Spot Treatment Essence, DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serumor SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil yet due to the nature and stability of vitamin C, I’d like to try 1 product at a time. Have you tried these products? Let me know what results you’ve gotten with these products! Or feel free to share any products not listed here that worked for your skin!

Vitamin C Essence!
Rohto Mentholatum-Melano CC Vitamin C Essence is one of the very popular Korean skincare products! I have had this for quite a bit now, but haven’t used it much because it feels very oily whenever I use it and I already have an oily skin. However, during winters, my skin tends to get dry, so I thought I would give this a go once again since I have heard great things about it. I will update about it in the future. It comes in this air tight tube, so there’s no worries about oxidation. Also I put this in my skincare fridge!

Skin Update!
Hey guys, I thought that I’d give a quick skin update! Overall my skin has really improved it’s a little brighter and healthier, I am getting some small spots but I’m not really expecting perfection. I’ve started using some new products: Swisse - Olive Leaf Deep Cleansing Gel - this a very effective and gentle cleanser for oily skin - it keeps my skin reasonably clear and doesn’t leave it feeling strip or dry, which I’m definitely happy about - I think the small bumps are because of of the glycolic and salicylic acid drawing the nasties out! ALAFFIA - Coconut Face Toner - hydration, hydration, hydration 💦 - leaves my skin glowing The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA - light weight moisturiser that doesn’t leave the skin greasy - actually leaves the skin super soft - I don’t like that it leaves like white buts on my face 🥴 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - this is golden, literally pulled the blemishes out of my skin - controls oil so that I’m glowing and not shinning - gonna so I solo post on it cause chiiillllldddd!!! Thanks for reading my loves!!

Best Niacinamide(b3) Serums— Clear Skin for Days
I’m addicted to niacinamide (aka b3!) as a skincare ingredient. One of the most powerful topical antioxidants, it reduces oil and sebum production (less clogged pores!) and also helps reverse hyperpigmentation and scarring. It keeps my skin clear and soft like no other ingredient within skincare, and so I always have a serum of it on hand to make sure my skin stays texture and blemish free. An effective concentration is 5-10%, used once a day. Any more than that will cause irritation! This ingredient shouldn’t burn or sting. If you’re experiencing that and redness, you’re likely allergic to it from a niacin allergy. First up is my HG serum Glossier. - Super Pure Niacinamide + Zinc Serum which I’ve been using since it dropped around four years ago. It’s solved so many of my problems, and the 5% niacinamide content doesn’t irritate my skin. It’s not sticky, it smells and feels like water and sinks in very easily. I’ve never had irritation or any issues with this, and I use four drops every night. The fact they made the bottle twice as big for the same price is a huge plus, and means that I only have to repurchase once every three months. I prefer this formulation because it has very little fillers, all the ingredients included in the formulation are either healing or hydrating The second best I’ve found is REVOLUTION - Blemish and Pore Refining Serum - 10% Niacinamide + 1% Zinc which sells for around 7$ at Ulta. It’s really a bargain. It’s a higher concentration of b3, which I noticed started irritating me. When I cut down usage to once every two days using only two drops, the irritation went away. You could also dilute a little bit with toner, which is what I did as well. It’s a bit sticky, but not overwhelmingly as it sinks in quickly and the stickiness disappears. The formulation also has very little fillers and has similar healing ingredients to the glossier serum and doesn’t pill at all, which is why I prefer it over The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% formulation. Sadly I see a ton of people using The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and while it’s cost effective, the formulation really is sub par and the included ingredients are mostly fillers, rather than beneficial healing topicals. Do you use nicinamide? For me, it’s truly been a game changer ingredient in getting and keeping my skin super clear!

Dehydrated Skin
Recently I have been experiencing itchiness, redness, just plain painful skin on my face. Pretty certain I have damaged my skin barrier. Non of my normal products feel good anymore, and always sting. I do not know exactly how this has happened, as I do not exfoliate often, if at all, but I have been highly stressed. For about two weeks I pretty certain I developed rosacea on my cheeks. The pictures above show my skin after four weeks of trying to go almost mostly product less. However my skin has now overcompensated with loads of sebum. I do have mild eczema on my body but have yet to get it on my face. I try to use gentle products as my skin is quite reactive. The first product I have tried in the last few weeks that has actually felt good on my skin is the TIAM Vita B5 Toner (couldn’t find the product in the system). This toner is one of the toners recommended by Kelly Driscoll on her YouTube channel. I also decided to try out the oh so famous illiyoon - Ceramide Ato Cream~ I don’t know how I feel about this product yet. I have been using it for three days now and I find that my skin struggles with absorbing this lotion. This is product number 2 that I have found over a three/four week period that does not hurt my skin. As of yesterday I received the HADALABO - Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moistand íUNIK - Beta Glucan Power Moisture Serumin the mail and have only used them twice and have no opinion as of yet. They don’t seem hurt but I cannot tell if they are helping. If anyone has any recommendations for dehydrated combination skin with a damaged skin barrier I would be forever grateful!

Updated Nighttime Skin Care
Updated Nighttime Skin Care
The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This product has really been a game changer for my skin. I use it once a week to help the dryness and dullness of my skin. It does tingle a bit on my skin, although I leave it on for 5 minutes instead of the recommendation 10 minutes. The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG I’ve never been one to use eye creams because I feel like they are just a glorified moisturizer, doing the same thing a moisturizer would do to the rest of the face. This product has completely change my opinion. It banishes my dark circles and de puffs my eyes. I use this product twice a day. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I’ve always been afraid of any type of acid on my face because my skin can get very dry. Hyaluronic acid was recommended to hydrate my skin and I’m very glad I used this product. It has changed the dryness of my skin. fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This is the first nighttime moisturizer I’ve used that doesn’t make my face greasy, which is why I will continue to use this product and purchase it over and over again. up&up - Max. Strength Acne Medication I don’t get acne very often on my face so I don’t want to spend a lot on an acne spot treatment. This one is ok, it sometimes takes a couple days to a week to use and if it’s overused in one area it can dry the skin. However for the amount of times I use it this product gets the job done at a price I can afford. In short, I love the brand Fresh and will always use their products. I have fallen in love with The Ordinary and will continue to use their products. I have finally found a combination that works for my dry/combination skin and will use it for as long as it works on my skin.

Guys so you better save this p
Guys so you better save this post as I think I found what makes my skin fade blemish scars. It’s supper affordable. Literally it took less than 8 days. I use this recipe only when I need to fade post inflammatory scars. Also you can also do as spot on. And for the rest of the evenings I use my usual Polaar Night Cream which helps with evening of the skin tone and keeping it happy. Disclaimer it works on my skin, so it might work or not work for others, and make sure you don’t have sensitivity to the ingredients. I only use it in the evenings, The Ordinary Azelaic Acid and Weleda Skin Food. I put Azelaic Acid on after a cleanse on dry skin and after 30 min I put Skin Food on top of that. I know some might think it won’t work because of the silicone in Azelaic Acid, but it work best for me. I am just so happy that I found something to fade spots so quickly ❤️❤️❤️ and to those who will wonder I love the herbal smell of Weleda.

Discovering Essences
Discovering Essences
Essences aren’t new in the skincare world, but it wasn’t until recently more brands added them to their repertoire. An essence is a concentrated formula that targets wrinkles, fine lines, and dull skin. Most essences contain an active ingredient that promotes cell turnover. Eventually, the daily use of essences in your routine will lead to smoother and brighter skin. However, don’t be fooled by the promises that essences are somehow anti-aging powerhouses. I think of them as your skin’s multivitamin. Who Should Use this Essence Here’s the good thing about this product, because it’s almost entirely snail mucin filtrate, everyone should use it. But, you know I don’t believe in that “best for all skin types” stuff brands like to promote. To me, this product is a classic staple on everyone’s skincare routine, but those who need it have: Sensitive skin Dry skin Acne-prone skin Why? Because snail mucin can help reduce redness, nourishes at a cellular level, and provides a glow that will help fade out acne scars. But, most importantly, the combination of naturally-found hyaluronic and glycolic acid make it a must-have if you have sensitive or dry skin. How to Use this Essence It’s relatively simple to use an essence. After you’re done with the toner, use one or two pumps of product, it spreads easily. Apply all over your face and neck. Start from the center and work your way our with pulling motions, almost like a massage. Wait for it to dry before you move to the next step. Bakuchiol is a great alternative to retinol. It does pretty much the same thing as retinol, except slower and with less irritation. It has truly been a game changer. Since using it my skin has been looking sooo much better. Less breakouts, more even tone and overall calmer skin. I already finished it but when I had it, I used it every night as a serum (you can mix it with your moisturizer instead if you worry about your skin getting used to it) It’s super gentle and very hydrating! Even though it’s much gentle than retinol, I’d still suggest starting off slog to see how your skin reacts. Also be sure to wear sunscreen! I’m glad I had a chance to try this, since it’s so gentle and still delivers results. (Gifted)BYBI - BAKUCHIOL BOOSTER

🚨 Product Review 🚨
Happy #selfcaresunday 🐚 ⠀ It’s a sad day because #1 it’s my last Sunday that I won’t be spending studying (classes start Wednesday) & #2 it’s one of my last few posts with my pretty little starfish as Fall slowly starts making its way towards us! ⠀ Today I am bringing you a rapid review of 2 serums from a brand that has a special place in my heart @earthharbor ! ⠀ Now I know these bottles are full but I started my collection with their 2 gift sets that they offer. This is how I was able to find out which products worked for me and which I wanted to purchase full size. ⠀ 🚨 Review Time 🚨 ⠀ 🐚 Marina: This brightening serum targets hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, redness & blotchy skin. It includes so many amazing ingredients such as squalene to lock in moisture, Japanese green tea oil to prevent the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and spirulina which prevents the skin from environmental toxins and fights bacteria that may lead to breakouts (to name a few). I truly saw a difference in my hyperpigmentation and dark spots with this product. It does have a scent which didn’t bother me but is good to know. Soaks into my skin without feeling like there’s left over oils sitting on top of it. EARTH HARBOR - MARINA Biome Brightening Ampoule ⠀ ⠀ 🐚 Calypso: this rejuvenating moisture elixir is a go to and I will definitely be using it by the bottom this fall/winter. It includes ingredients such as sea berry oil, chia seed oil that helps hydrate and soothe the skin, as well as daikon seed extract that helps tighten and lifting your skin giving it a more youthful appearance. I like to mix this with my moisturizer or even some masks to add even more moisturizing benefits to my skin! EARTH HARBOR - CALYPSO Rejuvenating Moisture Elixir ⠀ ⠀ Have you tried any @earthharbor products? Which has been your favorite?!

NIGHT TIME SKINCARE ROUTINE
NIGHT TIME SKINCARE ROUTINE
This is my current pm skincare routine! First, I use the facetheory - Clarifying Cleanser C2 Gently Scented which really gives my skin a thorough cleanse without stripping it. My skin feels so soft after using it! Next, I’ll go in with The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% which is honestly so underrated! Everyone raves about the The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%(which is an amazing product that I use in the morning) when it comes to brightening up complexion and helping with blemishes, but Azelaic Acid is just as great of an ingredient if not better when it comes to clearing skin and dealing with hyperpigmentation. Highly recommend!!! Lastly, I’ll finish off the routine with the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration and I love it for my dry skin! Right now, my routine is really short and basic because my skin has been struggling from trying so many new products. So I’m giving it some time to detox. Also keep in mind that my routine is always changing as I adjust it based on how my skin is feeling. For example, when my skin is breaking out, I’ll use the Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gelto target those pimples. And when my skin is feeling a bit more dry, I’ll use THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum. Or when I’m feeling fancy, I’ll use a sheet mask. On that note, skincare is very personal for each person and it’s a trial and error process until you really find what works for your skin. I know that what works for me may not work for you, but I hope my recommendations are helpful and that you achieve your skin goals!☺️💖🌙
