✨At home dip kit worth it?💫
Applying dip looks relatively easy right? NOT. I had purchased an at home nail dip kit from Sally’s Beauty supply store and guess what? It was awful😂😂 the nails may look great in the photo, but this was a two person job, for sure! And don’t even think about doing this if you don’t have a dermal to file down the nails. Hand filing was awwwfffuuul and very time consuming! I had my roommate help me with these because like I said, it was a long process. We shaped the nails to be coffins.....it’s a lot harder than it looks😩😂 and we added a silver glitter ombré to it that looked pretty cute, but still a mess to do. The only thing good I have to say about these is that they did last for a few weeks and they were very sturdy! That was good since I was at my bendy nails stage from previous acrylics😅 I’d recommend these if you have a friend to help apply and if you spent the extra dollars to get an e-file to file down those imperfections since this does not self-level like acrylic.😊 KISS - Salon Dip Starter Kit

✨Glued on nails for the win?✨
Check these cute ones out!! I was in a rush and NEEDED my nails done after I took off a set of acrylics. Typically I go for gel polish after a set of acrylics but like I said, I was rushing. I made a quick trip to Sally’s Beauty supply store and found these babies!!! I thought it’d be worth a shot! Totally worth it! I didn’t struggle keeping them glued onto my fingers, they were set. And my bendy nails weren’t bendy while I had these on. These were just a simple square nail, I don’t know why but I used to prefer the square and then realized nail techs struggled getting them perfectly square so I eventually went to skinny coffin shapes shortly after this! I totally recommend these nails if you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to get a fill or paint them yourself! Also quick tip, if you get the ones that are already sticky on the back, I also add glue on top of that for longer lasting nails! Try it out sometime(: KISS - Sunset Beach Impress Rebecca Minkoff

💫The vacation nails💫
You ever just crave to get your nails done on vacation? I have no idea why, but I always do! This beautiful set of acrylic was done in San Diego! This is probably the first and last time o ever got square shaped acrylics😂 but it was fun while it lasted! I felt like I couldn’t scratch anything you know? Is that my own struggle or...? So this was the first time I realized you could get gel polish on acrylics and it lasted SO much longer..thank god. This was when I was in cosmetology school and I stained my fingernails every day with hair dye, so it was nice that it wouldn’t stain my nails if I had gel polish over it😂 the only thing I wasn’t a fan of was how thick the nails were after all of it!
🌼Are you a nail biter?🌼
I don’t know how common this is, but ever since I can remember I bit my nails! I didn’t realize how gross or bad it was until I went to cosmetology school. The instructors always had some mortifying stories on why not to bite your nails (such as someone bit her nails after dealing with a client who had lice) GROSS🤢🤮 so since then I stopped biting and opted for just peeling the hangnails and broken pieces! Well, once that started I always ended up peeling off more than I should. You know when you cut your nails too short and your nail bud actually hurts? Like throbs? Yeah. That happened, so I was DONE. I decided to get acrylic nails...now this was before the dip nail was a thing, as well as the poly gel nails and whatever crazy new nail enhancements we have. THESE RUINED MY NAILS. and I was back to square one. I was terrified to get them removed because soaking them took too long and the lady that removed them the first time shoved a nail tip in between my nail and the acrylic one time...she almost had me in tears it hurt so bad😂 so I let some fall off on their own and I was able to peel the rest off. My nails were so damaged after acrylic but I still had a little length left! Then I realized how BENDY my nail had become! And ooouuuu it hurt. Especially when I had to wash my hair and I had these long nails bending every time I comb through😩😂 So I opted for gel nails. These things were a lifesaver when the bendy nails happened. It held them together enough to not bend anymore!! And guess what...NO MORE NAIL BITING! gelish - Soak-Off Terrific Trio Basix Gel Nail Polish Kit this is my favorite brand and it last so long! Amazing results every time.

Check out this STUNNING before and after of one of my best friends. She told me “Make my hair as light as possible” so I did exactly what she said. With her hair being as dark as it was, this was a HUUUGE deal. And a long process....but so worth it!!! I mean... LOOK AT IT😍 All I can say is foils foils foils. She looked like she was trying to contact some aliens with the amount of foils that were in her hair...I’m serious. I made it super blended around the hairline by foiling all around the face. This really helped lighten up the pieces around the hairline to make her feel extra blonde. Love the curls? I used a flat iron first, to smooth out any frizzy hair. Then I used a BaByliss PRO - Nano Titanium Spring Curling Iron size 1 and 1/4 inch, curling all pieces away from the face. Yes you’re gonna look like Shirley temple for a minute😂 I’d suggest spraying in a texture spray with hold such as KEVIN.MURPHY - Bedroom.Hair or a touchable hairspray such as amika: - Touchable Hairspray to really hold in those curls, then comb them out with a wide tooth comb! You’ll have the perfect curls all day!
😳Why box dye is TERRIBLE for your hair
As some of you may know by now, I am a licensed cosmetologist. I see TONS of clients everyday and a large amount of my new clients are color corrections. What’s a color correction? Wells color correction is usually a pricey service that a hairstylist does once your hair is compromised from box dye...or maybe you gave yourself a hOMBRÈ. Yeah I called you out😂 This service is so pricey because it can take HOURS to fix this situation. This haircolor, took FIVE hours. She had three layers of red box dye in her hair and about two inches of regrowth that was lighter than the red. Trust me I wanted to cry when I saw it. This is every hairstylists worst nightmare. A client wanting to be blonde but their red. Lol not gonna happen. As you can see, there’s still some red, that’s where she really overlapped her box dyes. Box dyes are progressive dyes that really buildup on the hair. They have metallic salts that can build up and reeeaally dry out the hair....not fun. If I do a color correction over boxed hair I will seriously FORCE clients to get Olaplex added to the color and lightener. It’s soo damaged just in general and it’ll be worse after a huge chemical service like this one! This product is in the Brown Sugar scent, they have a ton of different ones and retails for $4!!!! 10/10 recommend and will forever repurchase!

⚡️Dry and flaky scalp problems no more!✨
Are you struggling with a dry scalp? Is it itchy or burning or flaky? Boy do I have a treat for you. So as a licensed cosmetologist I didn’t really learn as much as I wanted to about the ingredients in hair products. The instructors just told us that drugstore products were bad and did a lot of bad things to the hair. But when I started asking “why?” They had no answers. I wanted to know WHY are drugstore products bad? WHAT ingredients make these products bad and what happens when using them WHO makes these products and gets them into stores if they are so bad?! This took a lot of time and research on my own, but I am so glad I did it so I can help you understand a little bit more! I have been dabbling with making my own hair care products! I’ve made some waterless shampoos and conditioners (ended up very sandy but still worth a shot) and natural shampoo and conditioners. I’ve worked with a cosmetic chemist to help me make sure I wasn’t going to blow anything up or cause an accidental chemical reaction so it’d be safe! With what I’ve learned, pure extracts are what give you your benefits in your hair products! It’s not just hair products either I might add. There’s extracts in your body wash, your face wash your lotions and your toothpastes sometimes! The extracts I’ve found to help out with your itchy scalp are: Colloidal oatmeal-okay so this ones not necessarily an extract, but this really helps sooooothe the scalp. If you have eczema colloidal oatmeal is where it’s at! Amla Berry Extract- this extract is so rich of Vitamin C and antioxidants! This helps to prevent dandruff and itchiness due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties! Aloe Vera Juice Extract- aloe contains little enzymes that actually REPAIR your dead skin cells! Aloe is also very hydrating and moisturizing you give your hair a shiny finish (with no dandruff I might add) Bamboo Extract- this extract improves overall hair health! Helps with fullness and elasticity and it’s packed with antioxidants to really take care of the your hair(: Caffeine Extract- this is the creme de la creme of extracts for itchy scalp. Caffeine actually sloughs off dead skin cells by exfoliating the scalp! Cool right?! Exfoliation of the scalp means you’re really increasing blood flow and circulation. Increasing blood flow and circulation means its stimulating the scalp enough to promote hair growth! This literally helps with dry itchy scalp and promotes hair growth! It’s an amazing extract that I think everyone should try out because i mean..who doesn’t want their hair to grow?! If you choose to add extracts to your haircare regimen, I’d definitely try to add it to a deep conditioner you already have. If you choose to add it to your colloidal oatmeal, add some xanthan gum to thicken it up almost like a conditioner! Photo from bellatory.com
Balay all day!
Looking for a long-lasting natural haircolor? A balayage may be right for you! This client wanted to keep it really natural And brighten up the pieces around the face (aka money pieces). The money pieces are done many different ways, but I usually do teeny tiny foils around the front hairline to really brighten it up and still blend in when she pulls her hair back! Balayage means free hand painting, so I took small sections and back combed with my clay lightener to be able to blend with her natural color without leaving lines or splotches! This tends to be a huge issue with balayage so back combing is almost foolproof! ALWAYS TONE BLONDE HAIR. If your hairstylist does not know how to tone your hair, it’s time to find a new one! Toning is extremely important to keep the gold/orange and brassy look away! Maintenance: Definitely use purple shampoo once to twice a week, this can be extremely drying so make sure you don’t use daily. And use a hydrating conditioner after use! Here I used: Olaplex shampoo and conditioner, these rebuild bonds back into your hair after lightening services! It’s also great for repairing environmental damage such as hard water, chlorine, even sun bleaching! For styling products I used: Kevin Murphy Smooth AgainKEVIN.MURPHY - Smooth.Again Kevin Murphy Body Builder Mousse KEVIN.MURPHY - Body.Builder Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity SprayKEVIN.MURPHY - Anti.Gravity Spray
🌏How to prevent environmental damage to hair🌏
The weather conditions causing your damage: •Strong sun (UV rays)🌞 These can lighten your hair and lighten your haircolor if you’re not using a protectant! Yes you need a sunscreen for your hair! • Chlorine (pool water)🏊🏽♀️ This is one many of you know of! The chemicals can build up on your hair leaving a strange residue that can make your hair extremely dry and may strip your haircolor! •Changes in air humidity If you’ve got curly hair you definitely know what I’m talking about when I say you flat ironed hair seriously turns curly in the humidity! And your curly hair gets big and frizzy! And straight hair can get wavy!! •Hard water/Well water This is one that not many people realize is a problem! Hard water and well water have TONS of minerals that tend to buildup on your hair! This can cause your hair to lose its shine and suppleness! It can even make your hair dry and brittle! 🤷🏽♀️What can you do to protect against it?🤷🏽♀️ If you have hard water, use a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove buildup! I’d suggest purchasing a shower head water softener as well if you struggle with this! Heavy products can tend to attract more pollutants, so try something lightweight for your styling product! DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR DAILY BRO. Your scalp needs those extra oils and if you’re continuously removing them, your body is going to produce more! That’s why you feel like a grease ball! If you feel like you HAVE to shampoo daily try diluting your shampoo or use coconut waters it’s less stripping! When blowdrying use a nozzle attachment to prevent blowing up your cuticle and causing more damage! Always use a heat protectant when using thermal tools😉 Try OLAPLEX products! They are bond builders so they repair, strengthen and protect your hair from ALL damage! These are Sulfate free, Paraben free and Vegan products with a low odor so they are as natural as you can get! If You have issues finding a shampoo and conditioner that actually WORKS, this is the one for you! OLAPLEX - Bond Repair Trial Kit
