Toner? Face mist? What is it & do I need it? 🤔
Amongst a plethora of steps in my skincare routine, I have often questioned, what is the actual point of toner⁉️ Here’s the low down: Is toner absolutely necessary? 🙅🏽♀️ no. 💡But here is why you might want to consider investing in one... Toners are water based liquids packed with targeted ingredients that can: ✔️MINIMIZE PORES (👀 look for active ingredients like salicylic acid, witch hazel, tea tree oil) ✔️EXFOLIATE (👀 look for active ingredients like AHAs, BHAs, salicylic, glycolic acid) ✔️CALM & SOOTHE (👀 look for ingredients like cucumber & aloe) ✔️ REMOVE EXCESS MAKEUP ✔️HYDRATE (👀 look for ingredients like rosehip, peptides, aloe, vitamin E) ✔️BALANCE SKIN’S ACIDIC PH LEVEL (to avoid over-drying, try looking for a an alcohol free option) When to use it? Directly after cleansing. Apply toner to a cotton pad or ball and gently swipe across your t-zones or other targeted areas. Alternatively, I like to pat my toner into the skin. Now, on to facial mist... This is a great option for instant skin hydration 💧and can be used post-cleanse, to prime makeup, or for a midday refresh. Ingredients like lactic acid, glycerin, aloe and hyaluronic acid are great for hydration, while mists containing salicylic acid and willow bark are a great option for refining & clarifying. Mists can also help to soothe skin, give you a dewy look, or improve absorption of your moisturizer. Moral of the story: Toners and mists are NOT an essential step in your skincare routine, but if you’re looking to enhance your regimen, this is a great add! Mario Badescu versus Garnier Rose facial mist
ROSE FACE SPRAY SHOWDOWN 🌹🌹🌹🌹 Mario badescu has been a STAPLE of my skincare routine for the past 12 months or so. Since discovering their facial sprays and drying lotion I was a huge fan. HOWEVER: these products tend to be pretty expensive. They are cruelty free and paraben free. I’ve set out to find an alternative to my MB spray obsession. Enter— GARNIER - SkinActive Soothing Facial Mist with Rose Water My comments: I love this product! The scent is light and floral and leaves my skin feeling fresh and refreshed. The bottle is made from 30% post consumer recycled plastic and label claims to be vegan with no parabens, dyes or silicones. 🌿 Another thing I love about Garnier’s Rose facial mist is how they list their ingredients and derived substance on the back — instilling confidence and awareness about what is going into the spray✨
Mario Badescu facial spray
One of my favorite hero products both in my professional kit as well as my current skincare routine. I have very sensitive combination dry skin. Budget wise it’s a great 2-for-1 product to both finish your skincare and prep and finish your makeup application. Aside from being my go to skincare mist it’s great to help makeup adhere to skin as well as lengthen wear time! MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
Hydrating toner: A glass of water for your face
The product: Fresh’s Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner is a toner that can be used daily. It has hyaluronic acid to aid in your skin’s moisturize. The toner also works to minimize the appearance of pores. The product is an alcohol-free liquid toner that has real rose petals in it. It does have a darker hue because of that fact. My experience: I really enjoy this toner. It does hydrate and balance my skin. I tend to rotate my toners so I only purchase the $25, 3.3 oz. bottles — which I try to buy in sets if I can help it. This was my first time trying a hydrating toner. (I grew up thinking oily skin was overly hydrated instead of it being dehydrated skin that was overcompensating.) This is a true toner and actually balances my skin. This is the third step in my routine with precleansing oils and face wash being the first and second, respectively. When I use this product, I feel like I am doing something for it instead of just doing another step. I would definitely recommend this product. I went through a whole bottle of Thayer’s Rosewater/Witch Hazel and never really felt like it impacted my skin either way. If you want to see what a toner should actually do, then get Fresh’s toner. How I used it: I would precleanse using an oil and my Face Halo, then wash with a face wash and follow that up with the toner on a cotton round. After that, I would use my skin care serums, lotions and oils. Recommended for: Dry, normal, combo and oily. It has rose extracts, rose oil, rose water and actual rose petals in it so if you are someone who is sensitive to roses, then buyer beware. Where to get it: • Sephora (in store/online): 8.4 oz. for $45 and 3.3 oz. for $25 • Ulta: N/A • Nordstrom: 8.4 oz. for $45 and 3.3 oz. for $25. (Note: Website says 3.4 oz. bottle, but the bottle is actually 3.3 oz.) • Fresh.com: 250 mL (8.4 oz.) for $45 and 100 mL (3.3 oz) for $25 fresh - Rose Deep Hydration Toner

PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore-Reducing Toner Okay, there are two sides of this toner in my opinion. One is the actual product, formula and what it does for my skin but then there’s my own preference and what it REALLY does for my skin... Get me? Maybe not. But after using up half a bottle during about 2 months I’m ready to share my opinion. So this is a skin balancing toner which is for oily and combination skin. It contains niacinamide and ceramides making skin moisturized, while controlling oily areas and make skin overall balanced. It does all this! It’s really lightweight, leaves no sticky feel and hydrates a little at the same time. It’s a great toner! Love that it contains niacinamide for balancing and to be honest, niacinamide is THAT ingredient. It does everything. I saw reduction in appearance of the size of my pores since it does a good job in regulating the skin and refreshes it up a bit but there weren’t any dramatic changes. In my personal preference, I love niacinamide but I’d rather have it in concentrated serums. For ex. I’d rather do a 10% niacinamide and use a soothing/hydrating toner instead. I feel I got better results this way. The result being faster and achieving better balanced, moisturized and sebum controlled skin. I also have a preference of using soothing or hydrating toners only to take away leftover impurities from the day and rehydrate since honestly, I can live without toners! They don’t need to be multitaskers for me and frankly, almost never give amazing results. I’d rather pack my serums and moisturizers with my actives and other vital ingredients for my skin! My pores appear even smaller this way. With that said, this toner itself is great for oily and combination skin! I would recommend you to buy this. It delivers, just not my favorite personally. But it does work well! Personally 3.5/5 but as a toner and results 4/5! *gifted but opinions are my own!

How do we feel about KylieSkin?
Everyone knows who Kylie Jenner is and may have an opinion on her brand. But before we jump into a conclusion base on Keeping up with the Kardashians, lets look at the ingredients Kylie works with. Today let’s look at the Vanilla Milk Toner. This toner helps with rejuvenating the skin by providing large amounts of hydration, and also helps to minimize and cleanse pores. The Vanilla Milk toner is a PH balancing toner with many great ingredients. 🥑 Avocado oil 🥝 Kiwi seed oil 🍎 Apple extract Jojoba seed oil Squalane - which is an oil derived from olives And many other chemicals which help skin rejuvenation. Such as sodium hyaluronate which is derived from hyaluronic acid (The stuff that super hydrates your skin! Like a large glass of water. ) The toner is free of Alcohol Sulfur Phosphates These chemicals tend to dry out the skin. The texture is very smooth and creamy, thus the name of a milk toner. Recommend? Yes. All in all, I adore this toner. A little goes a long way so I believe it’s worth the price. I mix up my routine with this toner and a witch hazel (which I’m soon getting rid of) so I’ve been able to prolong its use. Downside? For skin? I don’t believe there is one. The toner is able to be bought at ulta too, so no worries about shipping costs. It has a faint smell but not overpowering. What are your thoughts on the KylieSkin Vanilla Milk Toner?? If there is anything you’d like a review of just send me a message on my Instagram! Thanks Loves! #KYLIESKIN - Vanilla Milk Toner[products]#[FiveStars]
Toner for oily & combination skin
Korres Pomegranate Pore Refining Toner The Korres Pomegranate Pore Refining toner is for oily and combination skin. It is enriched with pomegranate and white willow bark extracts. It claims to remove impurities, excess sebum, and reduce oiliness & appearance of pores. This toner can be drying so if you have combination skin, I would only use it on oilier areas or where your pores appear largest. It is thin and dries very quick; has a strong alcohol/astringent like scent as well. I use it on a section of my cheeks, nose and in between my eyebrows. I think it helped clean out my pores some but definitely isn’t as effective as a nose strip so I’m happy I got this at TJ Maxx and not at full price. It might be nicer in the summer when my face is greasier lol but it’s really just ok for combination skin. I think it would be best if your skin oily not necessarily just having oilier areas.KORRES - Pomegranate Pore Refining Toner Rating: 3 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thayer’s Alcohol-drew Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera THAYERS - Witch Hazel Astringent An oldie, but classic goody. This is a staple that’s always in my skincare cabinet. It’s soothing, tones my face without drying it AND it smells delightful. It’s surprisingly hydrating, I feel like it helps shrink my pores. I also use it on my legs after I shave to help minimize ingrown hairs and it has helped tremendously. If you’re looking for a classic, basic staple, this is the one for you.
