Drugstore Skincare Hidden Gem💎
Words cannot explain how much I love this face oil😍 I was using this daily for years and my dry skin loved it. I recently switched up my skincare for some new products and realized how much I missed this in my routine. So I’m coming back home now 😂 This is the Shea Moisture Daily Hydration Overnight Face Oil with coconut milk and acacia senegal. I usually pick this up at either Walmart or Target. It’s under 10 bucks for 1 oz. This is marketed as an overnight face oil that is meant to soften, hydrate, restore skin and give a nice glow. I’d agree with all of the claims! I have very dry skin, so I used this morning and night in place of an actual moisturizer. I definitely wouldn’t recommend using this twice a day if you’re oily. This gave me super glowy skin and my skin genuinely felt hydrated when using this. I do want warn everyone that I would DEFINITELY patch test with this because coconut is known to be a bit comedogenic. Coconut has been known to clog pores. Luckily, it worked for my skin but that’s not to say it will work for everyone. There are some other ingredients that I’m not a fan of as well, but I began using this before I really understood skincare and ingredients. This has a slight coconut fragrance but it’s not super strong. I hate when my skincare or makeup has a fragrance but I make an exception for this product. This makes for a wonderful body oil too. Super hydrating! Also, I use this in the summer on my chest and shoulders to give a nice glow without the glitters and sparkle of a traditional body oil. Overall, I love this product and have been through at least 10 or so bottles over the years. I am excited to reintroduce this back into my routine, as my skin has missed the hydration. I would say that dry skinned folks would probably really enjoy this. Just PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE patch test because as I said, coconut oil can be really iffy on the skin. I definitely don’t want to be the reason for anyone’s break out ! 😭

BEST TINTED MINERAL SPF (The Unicorn)
I’ve been on the hunt for a mineral spf, sheer to light coverage tinted moisturizer/ cc cream/ bb cream- some kind of skincare-makeup hybrid. And in that order- I want lots of good stuff for my skin, lots of mineral SPF and just enough coverage to even out my skin tone. I repeat- Lots of SPF, mineral only. Oh yeah- it also has to match my light-medium skintone and cool undertone. Basically I’m searching for a Unicorn. I hate when a product is offered in lots of shades. For you maybe there is a better chance of finding one that matches perfectly- for me each shade is a chance to make the wrong choice. Im sure it doesn’t work for darker skin tones but since it works for me I like that universal shade of tint. No choices, just “tinted”. All 3 products below are just “tinted”. Here it goes.... elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 EltaMD Tinted UV Clear: My current Go-To. Yes- it is as great as everyone says it is. And yes- It is jam packed with lots of good stuff for your skin. It’s the epitome of “Skincare/ Makeup Hybrid”. In fact it is so hydrating that i have to cut out my moisturizer and primer if I want to use it. If that “dewy” look or the “glass skin” look is what you’re going for than this stuff is for you, my friend. I think this product is probably only going to suit me better and better as winter rolls in. I have to strive for matte to achieve a natural glow so if I want to tone down the shine after I apply the EltaMD I brush on a mineral SPF powder DERMA•E - Sun Protection Mineral Face Powder SPF 30 and top it off with a matte setting spray. NYX - Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 Close to perfect- a little goes a long way. It glides on beautifully, looks beautiful, feels beautiful. A mineral spf is a literal physical barrier between your skin and UV light. This means that they don’t fully absorb into the skin because their job is primarily on top of the skin. That being said- it doesn’t feel like it’s spread over your face like frosting on a cake. Its comfortable and light and it feels like it has absorbed. This one definitely leaves a matte finish. I wouldn’t recommend a powder over top. If you have to- Go with a setting spray. PAULA'S CHOICE - Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 Alright Im just gona say it- Paula’s Choice is a terrible name. (PAULA’S CHOICE- IF YOURE LISTENING-Change it immediately bc it’s holding you back) Paula is the name of your least favorite Aunt. She’s a super boring, annoyingly responsible yet reliable old maid.* It just sounds like an old lady company and nobody equates that with Clean, cruelty-free beauty. Just awful synthetic fragrances and “cold cream”. The truth is that this is a great product from a clean, science based brand. Light- med coverage. For sheer-light coverage I mixed w/ clear primer. e.l.f. - Matte Oil-Control Primer *IF YOU’RE NAME IS PAULA & THIS OFFENDED YOU I APOLOGIZE. YOU’RE AWESOME! IT ONLY APPLIES TO SKINCARE COMPANIES NAMED PAULA.

Help! I can’t find any makeup to suit me!
No lie, peeps- I really have tried everything in that basket and not one of them works for me. Nothing matches my color, and nothing seems to apply smoothly, without caking up or looking unnatural. I think my cool undertone plays a large role here. A bit of background and general info.... Skin Type: Oily/ Combo Color: Light-Medium Undertone: Cool Age: 33 What I’m looking for - A sheer or light coverage facial complexion Skincare/Makeup Hybrid (BB Cream, CC Cream, Tinted Moisturizer, Moisturizing Tinted Primer or Tinted SPF). SPF at least 30, preferably 40-50 How I see it- There’s 2 options.... 1. A facial SPF (preferably one that doubles as a moisturizer or primer) that I can wear year round under makeup. PLUS- A light coverage complexion makeup (bb or cc or tinted moisturizer etc etc). That I can change with the seasons, as my color and needs change. 2. The Unicorn!!! All of these products rolled into one. Definitely Cruelty free- Preferably Clean, Bonus Points for All Natural. What I’m using now is Paulas Choice Super Light Daily Wrinkle Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (too watery on its own so I have to) MIX WITH ELF+ Matte Oil Control Ant and all suggestions welcome!!

Achieving The “Airbrushed” Look 🤎
Start with making sure your face is prepped and clean and moisturized! I start with Simple - Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water Then I use The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 make sure your face is damp when applying so it’ll retain the moisture! This is important Then I seal it in with The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane Make sure to wait 30 seconds to let these products seal in. Makeup: For foundation COLOURPOP - Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation Now before I blend it in I spray my setting spray and let it dry a little before.. this will make it looked airbrushed!!! It’s important trust me. Then I use my REAL TECHNIQUES - Miracle Complexion Sponge For concealer I use the e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer I use the #Maybelline - Fit Me Loose Powder[products]#[FiveStars] and this stuff is great especially if you’re taking pictures or using a ring light! I use a dark concealer for my contour e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer And the wet n wild - Color Icon Bronzer Square I love this stuff it blends so well!! Then I use MILANI - MILANI Baked Blush in luminoso it’s the best For highlighter I use wet n wild - MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in precious petals this applies so good I use the Milk MAKEUP - KUSH High Volume Mascara After I spray my NYX - Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray and use my beauty blender to make sure everything sets properly! For my lips I use NYX - Suede Matte Lip Liner in Brown And NYX - Butter Gloss in Praline Then layer a coat of NYX - Soft Matte Metallic Lip Cream in Cairo Let me know any suggestions in the comments of your fave products! 🤎

The Rewards Keep me Coming Back!
Clinique has been my go to brand since I was a teenager. My mom uses Clinique. It was my first introduction to skincare. Recently I started really researching skincare because I’m in my 30s and I want to make sure I’m using the best products and ingredients to prevent aging. I want to expand my routine beyond Clinique to see what works best for me. But, their Smart Rewards program is really hard to turn down! Here’s a rundown of my new purchases and freebies! If you use Clinique sign up for their Smart Rewards. You’ll get email discounts and gift with purchase offers constantly. A way better deal than Sephora offers. CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Sheertint Hydrator Broad Spectrum SPF 25 Purchased for $49 I love using BB creams. / tinted moisturizer. This has nice sheer / light coverage, moisture surge hydrator that I love and spf. Perfect multi-tasker. I also chose it because it does not have oxybenzone, a chemical sunscreen ingredient that I want to avoid since I’m breastfeeding. CLINIQUE - Just Browsing Brush-on Styling Mousse Purchased $26 Haven’t used yet but I ran out of the SEPHORA COLLECTION - SEPHORA COLLECTION Brow Builder that I have been using and this seems like a similar product (also I wanted to spend $65 to get a free gift) Gifts / Freebies CLINIQUE - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Birthday Gift FULL size 115ml! Value $42 I haven’t tried a cleansing balm yet and I have been looking to switch from alcohol based makeup removers. This has great reviews online. Looking forward to this Birthday Gift! CLINIQUE - Dewy for Days Moisture Surge Set Value $65 includes 3 FULL sized products! This was one of the free bonus gifts to choose from for spending $65. The set includes: CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate 48ml - This is categorized as a moisturizer but it feels like a serum. It’s in a similar bottle to my other Clinique serum. One pump is enough to cover your face. At first it felt tacky on my skin, but absorbed after 10mins and left my skin feeling hydrated. I’m not sure how to use this differently than their Moisture Surge gel. Add it to my routine in place of a moisturizer or add it in as an extra hydration serum 🤷🏻‍♀️ CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator 50ml - I love this moisturizer! Great for winter. Really leaves my face feeling soft and hydrated. I’ll never buy the Dramatically Different Lotion again! CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Eye 96-Hour Hydro-Filler Concentrate 15ml - I haven’t tried this yet. It has okay reviews online. I’ll review later. So, for spending $75 I got an extra $100 in free product!!

Dirty Dozen Chemicals in my Skincare
I want to move towards a clean skincare routine. My current products were not purchased with clean skincare in mind, but I want to know how many of the Dirty Dozen chemicals are in my skincare. See my previous clean skincare posts for more details. Dirty Dozen Chemicals to Avoid: 1. Coal Tar Dyes 2. DEA / MEA / TEA 3. Phthalates / Parfum / fragrence 4. Formaldehyde releasing perservatives 5. Parabens 6. PEG compounds 7. Petrolatum 8. Siloxanes 9. Sulfates 10. Triclosan 11. Talc 12. Hydroquinone A quick summary, almost every product contains PEGs! PEGs (polyethylene glycols) are petroleum-based compounds that are widely used in cosmetics as thickeners, solvents, softeners, and moisture-carriers. Depending on manufacturing processes, PEGs may be contaminated with measurable amounts of ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane, known human carcinogens. 1,4-dioxane can be removed from cosmetics during the manufacturing process by vacuum stripping, but there is no easy way for consumers to know whether products containing PEGs have undergone this process. Here’s what’s in my current products: The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG ✅ clean The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil ✅ clean CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Oil-Free Gel ❌ contains paraffin ❌contains Petrolatum (Also contains dyes) Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment ✅ clean of dirty dozen SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment ❌ contains PEG-100, PEG-75 CLINIQUE - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm ❌contains PEGs CLINIQUE - All About Eyes ❌contains PEGs ❌contains Petrolatum CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator ❌ contains PEGs (Also contains dyes) CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate ❌contains PEGs (Also contains dyes) CLINIQUE - Jumbo Liquid Facial Soap Oily Skin Formula ❌contains sulfates ❌contains PEGs CLINIQUE - Smart Custom-Repair Serum ❌contains PEGs (Also contains dyes) VERSED - STROKE OF BRILLIANCE Brightening Serum ✅ clean from dirty dozen I’m new to reading labels, so if I’ve missed something let me know! SKIN HIT KIT - first impressions
e.l.f. - Skin Hit Kit for $26 CAD, elf sells a kit of many of their cannabis-infused skincare minis which i was so eager to try! after trying everything in the kit, i have some thoughts! e.l.f. - Puff Puff Primer this primer feels really nice on the skin and adds a nice additional layer of moisture. my makeup also sits very nicely on top of it. however, i haven’t noticed any additional benefits such as pore shrinking or adding to the overall finish of the skin (i.e. matte or dewy). this is a perfect travel-size item that i would definitely bring with me overnight (if there was anything to go right now) e.l.f. - All the Feels Facial Oil i really enjoy this facial oil. it is non-scented and it absorbs into the skin almost immediately. it leaves my skin feeling more supple and hydrated even hours after applying. i’m a huge fan and look forward to using the rest of this. e.l.f. - Calm Balm this lip balm is pretty standard but nice nonetheless. it has no flavour or scent which i like, and has a kind of oily/vaseline texture. to me this means it sort of feels like it’s sitting on top of the lips rather than penetrating them for optimal moisture, but in my experience so far it is definitely nourishing. e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream this is different from the holy hydration cream as it is more of a gel-texture, but delivers a similar boost of moisture to the skin. it feels slightly greasier if i’m being totally honest, but regardless i really like it! overall, the value of this set is great and i have almost exclusively positive things to say about all of the products inside. i will likely finish everything in this set, but will i repurchase any of them? we will have to wait to find out! thanks for reading!! #cheriecreator

Trending: Hemp Oil - Elf is in on the action
I love elf products. Cheap, cruelty-free, effective. Hemp is growing ingredient in skincare, beauty products, food, literally everything. It has been claimed to cure everything from arthritis to zits, and the public wants it in everything , apparently. I’ve seen more hemp oil lip balms, skin lotions, and lamp oil than I can count. But like all trends one has to ask - does it actually make a difference? At this point, I’ve tried about four products that contain that ever alluring hemp oil. And I’m not impressed. I’ll be frank. I usually pan my products completely, love or hate it, but this round in tapping out early, fam. Truly and honestly this stuff is meh. It’s almost the definition of meh. The oil is oily; the moisturizer is a cream, and the lip balm works. I do like the primer, but since I’ve tried new products I’ve been liking it less as my skin looks better on its own that it did with the primer. My skin is no more hydrated, glowing, or firm than before. I’m giving up on this trend and sticking to other affordable options.

🌋Meh. Not the best. Not the worst 🌋
🌋Meh. Not the best. Not the worst 🌋
🌋 A solid form of smashbox - Photo Finish Primerizer, the GLAMGLOW - VOLCASMIC Matte Glow Moisturizer is supposed to be a primer and moisturizer all in one. It is a lightweight, creamy product that uses essential minerals to absorb oil while hydrating with no added shine. They were ambitious. 🌋 I am always searching for the product that will help me stop being so oily. My friend and I both bought the set it came in and we were left feeling disappointed. We are two fairly oily women and this just didn’t do what it claimed. This unfortunately was not that product. It feels pretty slippy when you use, but wasn’t enough for me under makeup. It is a full-size item so I still have a lot to get through. This will be my next empties challenge as soon as I finish my CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. It smells like Starbursts to me so I love that. For: Normal, oily and combination skin types. Cost: $49 (sold out at Sephora) Recommend? No. (I plan to start using it again so I will update this if I change my mind.)

Luxury Brand Worth It?
Luxury Brand Worth It?
As a disclaimer these products were gifted to me for review purposes. LANCÔME - Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Moisturizing Face Cream I have some expectations when using something from a luxury brand such as Lancôme. The scent of rose is beautiful and really adds to the luxury element for me. It also comes in a glass bottle which feels heavy and expensive. So bonus points there. Now the product has more of a watery consistency which I was not a fan of, it was messy and hard to control when applying it. That’s the reason for the loss of a star. It leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated and the rose scent does linger but I love it and it continues to destress my senses through the day. I also like how it has a tacky finish so primer is optional. Overall very very pleased with this product and will continue using it. LANCÔME - Skin Feels Good Hydrating Skin Tint I really really really wanted to give this product 5 stars. It has a soft yet pleasant floral scent, it is pigmented just enough to even out your skin tone, it smoothed my pores, and overall o can tell this is going to be a new favorite of mine. HOWEVER! This applicator is awful. I had to pump and pump and pump what felt like 50x to try and get enough product out. So for that reason I had to take a star away.

Really surprised by this primer!
Really surprised by this primer!
I recently started using this skin balm. It looks like a moisturizer but it’s more of a primer. And oh boy was I surprised how well this works. Since it’s more on the moisturizer side I would’ve thought that it would make my makeup pill or even my skincare but it didn’t! I have combination skin so the areas where I have the most oil, I wasn’t too sure about it. It honestly left my skin dewy and felt really nice. It didn’t mess up my makeup or anything at all. Plus it smells fresh and clean which is great. It’s not too overpowering. I usually wait a couple min after I apply this primer to make sure it gets absorbed in my skin.

BURT’S BEES - Goodness Glows Tinted Moisturizer This is perfect for my dry and extremely sensitive skin! I use this in the shade Ivory, I love how hydrating, light-weight and blendable this tinted moisturizer is. It has a beautiful, dewy finish and lasts most of the day. This product has never irritated my extremely sensitive skin it’s also cruelty free and non-toxic. This product is light coverage, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you wanted a medium or full coverage finish. BURT’S BEES - Goodness Glows Tinted Moisturizer
