Acne sufferers need to read!!!
Acne sufferers need to read!!!
I have been getting acne since my early teen years, all the way until I was 28 years old. After 1 year of research and a ton of money spent, I have finally learned how to get rid of my acne and so can you! If you suffer from acne and don’t know what could be causing it, the problem could be rooted right into your skin care routine! Comedogenic ingredients (pore clogging) like coconut oil and sodium chloride have the highest comedogenic ratings and you would be surprised at how many companies use them in their products!! Products that say that they are meant to get rid of acne! These companies want your money and they want you to think that it is YOUR skin that is the problem and not THEIR products, so that you will keep SPENDING MONEY ON THEIR PRODUCTS!!!! Google search, “Comedogenic ingredients” and stop using your products if they contain a comedogenic ingredient with a rating higher than 2. Shea butter and argan oil are 2 examples of noncomedogenic, non pore clogging oils that are amazing for acne prone skin! Added fragrance is also an ingredient that can aggravate skin. Synthetic fragrance is a biggie but also natural fragrance like essential oils in leave on products. Citrus oils like lemon or orange in rinse off products like a cleanser or cream mask is good for skin, though. It took a lot of time, money, research and trials and errors but I am happy that my skin is finally clear and that I can help others get to this point as well! My non comedogenic skin care regimen: All of my skin care is cruelty free brands. That’s all I will use when it comes to anything I buy. Cruelty free. 🐰💗 Any of these 3 non comedogenic chemical free cleansers: ANDALOU NATURALS - Age Defying Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk ANDALOU NATURALS - Cleansing Gel, Citrus Kombucha, Clear Skin ANDALOU NATURALS - Brightening Meyer Lemon Creamy Cleanser Mask (2-3 times a week) : ANDALOU NATURALS - Glycolic Mask, Pumpkin Honey, Brightening Moisturizer: HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Extras: Once a week: The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Every other day: The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA Once a week (*Tip: Leave on for no longer than 15 minutes. DO NOT let the clay dry on your face before rinsing it off. If it starts to feel dry after 5 minutes, rinse! It all depends on how dry your skin is at the time of application. If your skin is dry, the faster the mask will dry on your skin.): AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay Alternate nights of the lactic Acid 10%: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% withPAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster

Hormonal Acne Routine 💪
Hormonal Acne Routine 💪
Heads up- this will be a long post! I usually have combo/ oily skin with breakouts here and there. I recently had a crazy hormonal acne flare up and after trying numerous products, I decided to see a dermatologist. Here’s the routine I’ve been following for just over a month and have seen improvement. 1. I wash my face with CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin morning and night. This cleanser is very gentle and doesn’t strip my skin or irritate my newly sensitive skin. I haven’t been wearing makeup so I can’t speak as to how good this is at removing makeup. For a daily cleanser, it’s a great option although I do find the price a little steep for a drugstore product at $15. A little goes a long way so I only use about half a pump each time! 2. I spray CAUDALIE - Grape Water on my face while it’s still a little damp. I bought the mini version at first and and about using it for a week, I ordered the bigger one! I reviewed this product separately as well and I didn’t have very high hopes. It really helps reduce sensitivity, provides a burst of hydration and preps my skin for the next product. It’s also fragrance free. 3. In the mornings, I apply Benzoyl Peroxide on the affected areas. I only keep it on for 5 minutes and then wash my face with cold water as per the dermatologist. I thought it might be more effective if I left it on and boy was I wrong. My skin was red and itchy and flaming and it was horrible. So listen to the expert!! 4. I then moisturize with CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin mornings and nights. I have to say, I’m still getting used to this one. As an oily girl, I’m used to using gel based moisturizers that sink right now. This I feel kind of sits on top of my skin... I know there’s a “lotion” as well which may be a little more suited for me than a “cream”. However, it doesn’t irritate my skin so I’ve stuck to it. 5. I finish my applying sunscreen with SPF 50. I’ve had this previously and I used it for oily skin. It hasn’t dried my newly combo/ sensitive skin so I’ve continued using this product. Night Routine 3 times a week, I apply DIFFERIN - Acne Treatment Gel to the effected area. I feel confident this has made a huge impact! It is of course drying but the CAUDALIE - Grape Water helps with that. I even use it as a spot treatment in between if I need to! This is a prescribed version but it’s also available OTC. Add Ons 1. JĀSON - Soothing 98% Aloe Vera Pure Natural Moisturizing Gel when my skin is feeling super sensitive (more so in the early stages) I used this instead of the CeraVe. It feels nice on the skin and is a natural product. 2. dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator I use this as I need it to exfoliate away any dead skin as a result of the creams I’m using. Gentle and doesn’t irritate my skin at all

I have been on an absolute skincare grind during this quarantine and have learnt more about my skin type and have tried new products ! My face used to be texturised and bumpy (mainly around my jawline) and now it has been looking better than ever with these products! CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator MARIO BADESCU - Glass Bottle Drying Lotion I made a few posts already going in depth about my thoughts on these products and how they work for me, so check those out if you like 🥰 I used to switch up my cleansers between Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Cleanser & Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash and was seeing some results but not how I would like. With using CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin it has really helped and SAVED my skin in so many ways! If someone has tried the CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanserplease let me know your thoughts on it, as I would LOVE to try it ! My holy grail product PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator has really done some black magic on my skin. I can’t tell you how, but it has and you have got to try this yourself if you haven’t already! I will not go a day without this product. I would still like to get my pores smaller as they are quite large so if you have any recommendations let me know ☺️
