self love is my super power, self care is my journey. just sharing my journey and tips with you guys ❤️ sustainable and clean lifestyle.
What’s your self care routine?
We can talk about all the products and technicalities of self care but to me the most important part of the process is FEELING GOOD in the midst! Self care has become a mood booster for me. There’s nothing better than having a bad day and taking care of yourself at the end of it. Actually I lied, having a great day and taking care of yourself at the end of it is even better! Everything is important. What I wear, the music I’m listening to ( I make playlists lol), what I eat, my environment etc. I like taking photos and videos in between. Hyping myself up in the mirror with affirmations (girrrrrll you look good! 😏), singing and dancing with myself. I also use them as time stamps to be able to look at how I’m progressing. It’s cute reminder lol I wanted to upload an older video in this post but this app apparently doesn’t do mixed media (Booooo!) I’ve learned that in order to enjoy the new skin, new body, new self you have to learn to enjoy and appreciate the current one. ❤️ Here’s a couple photos of me feeling myself after my pm skin care routine the other day 😂 I encourage y’all to do the same and feel free enough to share em 🥰
How it started vs How it’s going
After 2 years of desperation and adult acne, I think I’ve finally found a routine that works! 🤞🏾 I decided to take the cleaner product route along with a cleaner diet. Photos taken July 3rd 2020 and August 23rd 2020 Spring/Summer routine.. AM: #BeautyCounter - Countercontrol Clear Pore Cleanser[products]#[FiveStars] - gentle exfoliant, leaves my face pretty clean but not dried out. A little goes a long way. #BeautyCounter - Countercontrol Instant Matte Toner[products]#[FiveStars] - I use a cotton pad the first time around just to make sure I clean off whatever residue is around and then I tap a little on my face. #BeautyCounter - Counter+ All Bright C Serum[products]#[FiveStars] Vitamin C serum is the truth. I’ve been trying all types and in ONE MONTH ..you see the difference 🤷🏾♀️ #BeautyCounter - Countercontrol Matte Effect Gel Cream[products]#[FiveStars] - super moisturizing, kind of leaves a moist finish for me but I’m okay with that. I also used BASE BUTTER - Radiate Face Jelly Aloe Vera Gel Face Moisturizer - another moisturizer that is moisturizing but leaves less of a moist finish. I rotated the two, on days that felt more oily I used BB especially when I used SPF. BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 the only sunscreen that doesn’t break me out, leave a cast and is also moisturizing. PM: Same Cleanser - using the 60 second method (scrub gently for 60 seconds to really get in there) Same Toner - Cotton pad method. Steam (only once a week usually sundays) (MALIN+GOETZ) - Brightening Enzyme Mask - only once a week usually Sunday or Wednesday. Tone again - this time patting it in to re add moisture. Benton - Snail Bee High Content Mask - brightening, moisturizing and does not break me out. I get sad because there’s soo much essence in these masks. At least twice a week (Sunday + Wednesday) #BeautyCounter - Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel[products]#[FiveStars] - goes hand in hand with the C serum! My skin never peels or sheds, my scars just got brighter. I don’t use this on the day I’m masking, peels don’t work with a lot of moisture. #BeautyCounter - Countercontrol All Over Acne Treatment[products]#[FiveStars] - helped a lot with my breakouts and acne. A little goes a long way. I used the peel and acne treatment interchangeably. So if I used the peel on Monday night I used the acne treatment on Tuesday. Wednesday I’d mask so I wouldn’t do either. Thursday, the peel etc. Always moisturize with either moisturizer. I mostly used the BeautyCounter moisturizer at night. In between I did get a facial from my esthetician (if you can invest in one, I’ll talk about why soon) Of course as the season changes so does my skin routine, luckily it’s been fairly the same. I’ve just switched out a couple of products. I’ll post about that one next running out of characters.. Hope this was helpful ✌🏾❤️

My favorite clarifying hair mask?
I have a hair ritual that I’ve been doing for a couple of months. Since about April I’ve been using a clarifying mask on my hair, one that most people use on their face. The mask? AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay I’m in love with it to say the least. It defines my curls and cleanses all the dirt and grime from my hair. I have low porosity hair so I am no stranger to hair build up. Last week I had done a twist out on my hair and the conditioner I used was HORRIBLE in my hair. It kind of balled up into this bumpy residue and it made me not even want to touch my hair. I applied this mask to my hair and it was like I had brand new hair. To make my hair mask i use: however much Aztec clay I think I’ll need a combination of hair oils to make the mask smell better and also for added hair benefits (or so I think) DOO GRO - Mega Thick Hair Oil AFRiCAN PRIDE - Hair Growth Oil I put in my Apple cider vinegar before the hair oils BRAGG - Organic Apple Cider Vinegar I mix everything up, split my hair in four sections, wet each section individually and apply the hair mask

My Holy Grail Hair Treatments For Coarse Hair
When it comes to my hair, combating dryness, doing my best to get my curls to pop, and protecting my color is a constant battle! I find myself touching my hair and hearing that dreaded straw-like feeling between my fingers. Not only is my hair natural, kinky, coily, 4a type, but I’ve applied color to it, including bleach, as well, and though I am in love with my short, blonde cut, I know the toll it has taken on my strands. Today I use two products, one that’s tried and true and a new addition to the mix to create the perfect duo for tackling coarse and dry hair! Not to worry! I have a few stand by products that I use on my hair but I love switching it up. When I want to awaken my hair overall, I always go to my fave, AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay. This product is already a staple for so many in their skin routine but I want to push it as an amazing hair mask too! Not only used as a face mask but this clay can be used as a clay bath, bodywrap, and foot soak. At around $10-12 for one pound depending on where you buy it, it’s a great buy! This deep pore cleansing clay is made of 100% Natural Calcium Bentonite Clay. I love its ability to bring my curls back to life and soften my hair while also providing a deep clean to remove any buildup in my hair. My hair is left smooth and shiny! When I use it, I mix one part clay with a little apple cider vinegar and honey, the same formula when I do my face mask! I apply this to dry hair, leave in for around half an hour, rinse with warm water, and follow with my favorite moisturizing conditioner. See how defined my curls are! A product that I have been wanting to try was Elasta QP’s Intense Fortifying Hair Conditioning Treatment and I was happy to snatch it up from my local beauty supply store. I had done a little research on this product and the reviews were great so I wanted to know what it could do for my dry hair. With my hair being at an all time dry, I knew I needed to up my moisture products big time. This conditioning treatment was perfect to use after my clay mask and left my hair feeling and looking amazing! I also love that it was easy to rinse and didn’t leave a film on my hair as some intense treatments can do. I got this for only $4.99. I think it matches the amount and quality of the product. Really helped with the coarseness I was experiencing. Definite repurchase! If you’ve tried these products before let me know how you use/used them! Or, ask me more about my experience!

People always ask me how I know so much about products and ingredients related to skincare and it’s all thanks to the internet (duh)! I’m a visual learner so when I see graphs and charts and colors, it sticks in my head! Here is one of my fav graphs that helped me learn some important information on AHAs and BHAs. Most people assume that their skin type doesn’t work well with AHAs and BHAs, but the truth is that most skin types can benefit from such products! Do you have a favorite AHA or BHA product? My fav product is the infamous peeling solution which has a mixture of both The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

Diamond Nails 💎 Gems and Bling - French nail
Today im showing you how to do the at home diamond french manicure, with no skill needed! super quick and it turns out to be perfect! And ended up looking like a really professional gel french diamond nail that you get from salon. I started off with a coat of just a sheer pink polish because my nails are kind of stained by wearing manicure for so long. White french nails has been trending for years. I want to share this Swarovski Crystals french nail that is absolutely gorgeous gorgeous. The finish look is so stunning with just 2 types of gems and nail glue. You will need: square gems 2 pieces per nail some small clear gems On the tip of your nails where you normally use white polish to create french nail, we are going to replace white polish with gems.today. Use nail Glue to secure the 2 square gems in the center of the nail, on the side, place small gems to fill in the gaps and blank area. You want to make sure the tip of your nail is as shine as possible. Put nail glues around the gems and wait till it dry. Cure that for 30 seconds and finish up with a clear top coat. And voila you are done. I personally love love this nail look. It is shining and bling. Those crystals makes this french nail to a different level and you can match that with different styles or outlooks. My Bunny & Her Hair 🐰
We call her Bunny. Her name is Heather Olivia. She is almost 5 years old. I was a mother long before she came along. A mother to 3 boys which, at the time of her birth, made me feel unqualified for the job of raising a girl. The youngest girl in my family at the time was 18 years old so I did not have much experience with girls since there were so many males in my family. Over time, this irrational feeling of not measuring up went away and I am now confident in my mothering of a young African American female. There was only one issue I had a problem tackling - her hair! I didn’t know much about doing a girls hair and I couldn’t just take her to a barber like my boys. So, I started out by doing what I did to my hair when I started my natural hair care journey. I even used the same products and she still uses these products to this very day! I searched YouTube videos and learned so much from them. I practiced on her and now I think I’ve got it! Now, she loves when I do her hair and I’m more comfortable doing it. Today I had to do some finger coils on her hair and she absolutely loved it. I even let her pick out her headband! Here is the list of products used during her normal regimen and today: Mane‘n Tail - Deep Moisturizing Shampooand SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Rinse-Out Conditionerwere used for washing her hair. cantu - Shea Butter Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream and SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus, Kids Curling Butter Creamwere used on her hair as leave ins. Hot Six Oil, SheaMoisture - 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, ECOCO - Eco Style Olive Oil GelandMiss Jessie's - Pillow Soft Curlswere used to seal in moisture as well as for styling her amazingly curly 3C/4A hair.

Best foot mask ever
I’m impressed with the results of this mask, at the end literally your feet are like baby skin. I will talk about my process: 🌟I took a bath and I used a body brush to wash my feet with water and liquid soap. I dried them with a towel 🌟I cut with scissors each mask to open them and I used the red stickers to seal the mask and snug them to my feet. Remember wash your hands 🌟I waited 60 minutes, take off the masks and gently cleaned my feet with my hands, I used liquid soap and water 🌟I took a bath every day with warm water like I normally do, at the 2nd day my feet started to peel 🌟At the 3rd day my feet are peeling like crazy and I gently started to taking off some dead skin 🌟At the 6th day I washed and exfoliated my feet with warm water, Lavender Epsom Salt, soap, a body brush and foot files to taking off the remains of dead skin shedded. I dried my feet with a towel and put moisturizer Have you tried a foot mask like this? Sunatoria - Exfoliating Foot Peel Mask #gifted
