Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 4
Hey ya’ll! In part 4 of Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines we’re reviewing @Raks and @juliachristine’s skincare routines. Starting with @Rakswho reached out to me via Cherie message because she started skincare about a year ago because of her upcoming wedding. She starts by cleansing with theThursday Plantation - Tea Tree Face Wash Foam which costs $8.99 for 5.1 fl oz. This cleanser is very basic. It has tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil. My issue is with the eucalyptus oil, which is a very irritating essential oil right up there with lemon oil and peppermint oil. If this doesn’t irritate your skin then it’s a great cleanser, but I can’t recommend it to those with sensitive skin. Then she goes in with 4 serums. First is thepura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum which costs $14.99 for 4 fl oz. This is a really good serum. It has aloe vera juice, glycerin, jojoba oil, and argan oil which are hydrating ingredients, and then it has hylaronic acid, retinol, and Vitamin C. I love it! Then she uses#The Ordinary - Nicinamide Serum[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $5.90 for 1 fl oz. We’ve talked a lot about this serum, it’s very good. Next is the#Tree Of Life - Hylaronic acid serum[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $10.95 for 1 fl oz. I don’t like this serum. It started off good with hylaronic acid, aloe vera juice, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, but it contains way too many Essential oils and irritating extracts. And her final serum is theSkinMedica - LYTERA 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum which costs $130.90 for 2 fl oz, which is very expensive. This is not worth the price. It has nicinamide and glycerin, and then some not very researched acids. I don’t recommend continuing use of this serum. Then to moisturize she goes in with theOLAY - Regenerist Regenerating Day Cream which costs $29.99 for 1.7 fl oz. I don’t like this moisturizer. Let’s start with some positives. It has nicinamide, glycerin, and Vitamin B3. Now it has a lot of bad ingredients also. It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is a harsh cleansing agent, as well as fragrance being the 6th ingredient. The she uses a Neutrogena sunscreen, and occasionally usesThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which costs $7.20 for 1 fl oz. This is a great exfoliant. I think @Raks is using too many serums. I would stick to only the Pura D’or and The Ordinary serum, and ditch the other two. Keep the cleanser, and maybe try a different moisturizer. You asked for mineral sunscreen reccomendations for dark skin tones that don’t have a white cast, so I got you girl! I have light skin, but I did some research and I’d recommend the#First Aid Beauty - Weightless Mineral SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $34 for 1.5 fl oz, and the #Biossance - Squalane Zinc Sheer SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $30 for 1.7 fl oz. Both of these have minimal white cast, and Skincare by Hyram recommends them. Next is @juliachristine’s night routine. She starts off by cleansing with the #Vanicream - Unscented Gentle Cleanser[products]#[ThreeStars] witch costs $8.99 for 8 fl oz. This a nice basic cleanser with glycerin. Next she uses the#OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $84 for .7 fl oz. This cream has tretinoin which is a Vitamin A derivative which can treat acne, as well as retinol which also Vitamin A. I don’t think it’s worth the price, but it’s okay. Next she uses the #The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%[products]#[FourStars] which costs $7.99 for 1 fl oz. Along with azelaic acid, it has dimethicone which is a great moisturizer for dry skin. Next she uses theCeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which costs $17.99 for 15 fl oz. Y’all know I love this product! Finally she finishes off with theVERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream witch costs $17.99 for .5 fl oz. Eye cream is definitely not necessary but this one is great! It has glycerin, algae extract, and olive oil which are hydrating, along with shea butter and a blend of peptides which can help firm the skin and increase collagen production which can help reduce fine lines around the eyes. Overall @juliachristine your routine looks great! That’s it for this post please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment your opinions on these products, and follow me for similar content. Upcoming posts include a 1 month Curology review and unnecessary skincare steps you don’t need. -Mae
Does this even need a review 😂
Alright I’ll keep this short and quick since there’s so many reviews on The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Yes this is every bit as amazing as the reviews say the hype is truly real with this product! The price very budget friendly and a little goes a very long way so one bottle will last you forever. I would recommend to use a couple times a week as there is a thing as too much exfoliation and make sure you wash it off really well. I made this mistake once and got a chemical burn 😅 I’m currently using a different chemical exfoliation face mask and let me tell you it doesn’t even come close to how good this one is.
Tour of what’s in my fridge
A skin care fridge is totally not a necessity but they are super fun to have. Things to consider before buying one is: does it fit in your budget, will it fit in your bathroom, what products will go in it? I got mine from Amazon where they range from $60-$150 cad but you can get them from tons of places. The way I use mine is to keep products cold for the experience (de puffing) and to extend their shelf life. Here’s a tour of what I currently keep in my skincare fridge. The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% This serum is great to keep cold as it ensures it is kept at a consistent temperature and in a dark place which helps with stability. The combination of ascorbic acid and alpha arbutin make for a great brightening and hyperpigmentation treatment. THE BODY SHOP - British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask This is a really nice hydrating and plumping face mask that gives a very spa like vibe. The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil I love to keep this oil cold as it increases the shelf life. This is a great hydrating oil that also helps acne and hyperpigmentation. THE BODY SHOP - Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask I love keeping this mask chilled as it helps depuff my face in the morning. This is a very nourishing mask that is also gently brightening. pixi - DetoxifEYE These are great cold as they really helps get rid of any puffiness from waking up. This pot holds 30 pairs which is great value from money. VERSED - LOOK ALIVE Hydrating Plumping Mask This is a great hydrating mask that really plumps my skin and helps when it is dehydrated. Keeping it cold makes the experience even more enjoyable. LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Mask This is a creamy sleeping mask that highlights cica which is a very soothing ingredient. Applying it cold makes the soothing power even more effective. LANEIGE - Lavender Water Sleeping Mask This is a gel mask that feels great when applied cold as it feels very soothing. The lavender scent can also be very relaxing. grace & stella - Rose quartz face roller I love doing an evening massage, it feels amazing if the tool is kept cold. It helps with lymphatic drainage and product absorption. 👜Sheet masks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love to keep all my sheet masks in the fridge as the experience of a chilled mask is very enjoyable.
Morning routine updated
Ok I’ve made a few changes to my routine and sometimes I keep switching a few things in and out depending on the day.... I start with The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution which I love. I think glycolic acid is an important ingredient to have in your routine for oily skin and wrinkles and even acne too. I always use insta natural - Zinc Vitamin C Serum but I go between also using insta natural - Age Defying & Skin Clearing Serum which I love for acne, insta natural - Dark Spot Corrector I don’t notice a huge difference with this but it has great ingredients or insta natural - Skin Brightening Serum, Anti-Aging that has alpha arbutin to help brighten dark spots or hyperpigmentation. So I alternate with those! Love using COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence to have a dewy glow and helps with skin texture and pigmentation issues I’ve recently added The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% to help with acne and oily skin and love it too. I top with a thin layer of Clindamycin gel and then moisturizer which I alternate also between a few different ones. BEEKMAN 1802 - Bloom Cream Daily Probiotic Moisturizer has great ingredients but a funky old woman smell I do not like, thank goodness I only have a sample size.... Honest has a great soothing moisturizer I’ve tried and also ARBONNE has a great calming moisturizer as well as a lightweight jelly moisturizer I go between. Then I do a few drops of The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% and I’m done. I usually let it sit for awhile or at least a good 5 minutes while I do my eye makeup and eyeliner before I use any face makeup but I love the texture of my skin so far using this all together.
2021 NEW Nightly Routine 🌙✨🌑
2021 is officially here which means I have a few skin care resolutions I’ve made for myself. 1. I’m going to stay active with my skin care routine and not skip because I’m feeling lazy. ☝🏻 2. Buy only cruelty free products! ✌🏻 3. Love my skin, no matter what it’s going through! 🖤 So here is my updated nightly skin care routine (I’ll post my morning routine later.) First I start by washing my hands!!! Such an important first step in any skin care routine. 👏🏻 🧼 After I was my hands, I start with double cleansing, which is new to my 2021 routine! I never used to double cleanse but now that I’ve learned a little more about it and it’s benefits, I am thankful I started now! Better late than never! I use my oil based cleanser The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser which I am in love with because how gentle it is on my face and how cheap it was!! 🤑 Next I wash my face with Murad - Clarifying Cleanser . Before I began double cleansing, I used to use so much cleanser at once because I like my cleansers to lather and I was running out of the product faster than I should have. Since adding, I have been using a lot less at a time because it lathers beautifully and a little goes a long way. The only reason why I give it 4 stars is because I’ve been using it for 3 months and I still have those pesky pimples. I have to understand other circumstances are causing my acne and it’s not my cleanser’s fault. Also it’s a little much for my skin twice a day so sometimes I don’t use this specific cleanser in the morning to give my skin a break. I’ll usually opt for a more gentle cleanser like Cetaphil - Cetaphil Gentle Foaming Cleanser After I cleanse, I apply my eye cream Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Eye Gel-Cream (not pictured) Now neutrogena is technically not completely cruelty free however I did do my research and they don’t test on animals except for the rare occasion when it is required by law. Also I bought this before going cruelty free and I don’t want to waste it. It’s a good product and really hydrates around the eyes. It feels nice and cooling on my skin and is smooth to the touch. Once I apply my eye cream I grab a cotton ball and The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution and apply a thin layer to my face. This solution has been helping immensely! I notice my skin looks cleaner and tighter and it’s not terribly harsh on my skin. After, I use FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream all over my face and neck and #JLo Beauty - That Blockbuster Cream[products]#[ThreeStars] just under my eyes because I got the trial size for free. Finally, I add the last touches. hello - CBD Vegan Lip Balm Natural Sweet Mint Flavor and CAUDALIE - CAUDALIE Beauty Elixir which I will do reviews on later. 😘 What steps are crucial in your nightly routine? Let me know! 🖤
My Acne Skincare Routine - Results in 4 Days✨
I have always struggled with dry skin + acne since I was 18 and the moment I saw significant results on my acne, I knew that the only way I could find the one product to work on my skin type is if I get myself educated and open to trying out new things even if I think it won’t work since I am acne-prone. SWIPE LEFT TO SEE MY RESULTS: I started taking photos of myself to keep track of what I’ve been using that I can’t see by looking in the mirror everyday! (PRO TIP) So, I’m so glad to finally share this for everyone to keep in mind when trying out products and hopefully it will encourage you to try it out for yourself. Of course you need to do your research but hey, skincare is all about trial and error right? At least now you know what you don’t know! Here’s a sneak peak of my acne skincare routine👇🏼 DAILY AM & PM ROUTINE: Cetaphil - Cetaphil Gentle Foaming Cleanser 1 squeeze + to gentle cleanse my sensitive skin The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 2 drops + for extra and clear overall imperfections The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 2-3 drops + bring hydration to my skin CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin 1 inch or fingertip size + to moisturize CeraVe - Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 For Normal To Oily Skin half a pump + I use it as my sunscreen for anti-aging Benzagel - Acne Gel 5% the reason why I got results in 4 days! Less is more due to concentration. I only applied on acne spots A few tips while using the products + keep in mind: For each products, I wait 1 min each to let it seep in to my skin applied by pressing the product on my skin to avoid premature aging applied my moisturizer and sunscreen lifting upwards (never down or circular motion) and enough to disperse the product but not as much touching my skin, if that makes sense I stopped picking my skin especially even if it was flaky! I had that habit for a couple of months which made my acne worst with marks before I tried the benzoly. So please take everyone’s advise on this! If you had to scratch your nose or you’re itchy, I usually just lightly press my fingernails on my skin. Weird but it helped to avoid irritation while I have my products on and if your hands are 100% clean, it won’t do anything + itch is gone! I hope you understood what I mean by pressing your fingernails Consistency and discpline is key! I don’t know why people don’t include disciple because without it, consistency is nothing. It’s also like saying something you don’t mean Notice that I include how much I used? Less is more and clearly, you can see the difference Notice how I only took a photo on the left side of my face? That can only mean because of my pillow. Please change it! Of course 4 days isn’t enough to get clear skin but it’s always a step closer to reach my goals so patience is also key!

Why does my skin react different night vs day?
Over the years I have gone through hundreds of products figuring out what works for me. I have finally found a good set of products that I love, but sometimes when I use certain products in the daytime (such as Bio-Oil - Multiuse Skincare Oil and certain facemasks, I breakout so much worse than I do when I use the same exact product at night! I am confused by this so I have been wondering if it’s related to my oil levels throughout the day or what? Should I be using more drying products in the day time and hydrating at night? The only ones that really work for me day and night are The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and THE BODY SHOP - Jumbo Tea Tree Oil although I know Hyram has said oils are not for the face
getting off makeup and clear skin with rosacea!
okay... so I know I've posted this before, and Cherie is (devastatingly) closing down, but I thought I'd share one last post. This really works. one is a prescription and there are a couple items missing, so I'll add them to the pictures. Here is the order they say to put on skincare (as depicted) 1) makeup remover/wash (I use Queen Helene cold cream that I SWEAR by, sometimes BURT’S BEES - BURT‘S BEES Sensitive Facial Cleanser ) 2) Facewash/second face wash (I use DERMA•E - Sensitive Skin Cleanser and Joeseph anti Acne soap 10% sulfur) 3) Toner (I use THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner ) 4) Serums (I use a few... my prescription Amzeeq, mostly The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% , and DERMA•E - Blue Light Shield Concentrated Serum ) 5) Spot Treatments (Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment , tea tree oil when needed) 6) Eye Cream (not pictured - DERMA•E - Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream ) 7) Moisturizer (2 different kinds depending on how dry I am- pictured: Alba Botanica Aloe Green tea moisturizer, not pictured: skinfix - Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream ) 8) Retinol: Now, because I have rosacea, I use a retinol alternative. The best one for sensitive skin I found is The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion use at night only) 9) Face Oil: HEAR ME OUT: If you have oily skin, it's not the WORST thing to use an oil. As a matter of fact, it may work well. BEST ONE BY FAR IS ROSEHIP OIL. I can't tell you how amazing it is The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil , and JOSIE MARAN - Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment during the day) wear sunscreen during the day, and put it in place of retinol. I use Glossier. - Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen it's a great light moisturizer, too. And at night in the winter if it's super dry, I'll put petroleum jelly around the corners of my eyes and lips. The results don't lie, Cherie babes (: comment below I'd you know of a better eye cream.
My experience with The Ordinary’s popular peel
The chemical peel that is sweeping the internet by storm. After seeing multiple reviews and watching so many videos on YouTube about it, I decided to take the leap of faith. I have been using this peel for 3 weeks now and this is my 4th treatment. My only intent for this post is to give my honest opinion on this peel and how it fits in my current routine. For reference, that although this product is referred to as a ‘peel’ it is more of a chemical exfoliant, so you shouldn’t experience any actual peeling of your skin. The The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution works to peel off the top layer of your skin cells. Some people may feel a slight burning/tingling feeling while it is on. And due to the high concentration of the peeling acids it is recommended not to keep it on longer than 10 mins and only use it 1-2x a week to prevent damage to the skin from over peeling. Before using this product it is recommended that you patch test it, to see if your skin could have a sensitivity to this solution. The solution claims that “The scientifically developed formula delivers a specified blend of 30% Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (Glycloic, Lactic, Tartaric and Citric) as well as 2% Beta Hydroxyl Salicylic Acid. The pair have been carefully pH balanced for optimum efficacy, working to deeply exfoliate the surface layer of skin, unclog pores, combat blemishes and visibly improve uneven textures.” I honestly love this peel so much but it’s not an over night fix. When I used this for the first time I did see immediate results, my skin was exfoliated, softer, and brighter overall. But like all other products it didn’t clear all my blemishes and make my skin magically flawless, but I didn’t expecting to! Like all other skincare products you start seeing results over time with consistent use. And after using it for 3 weeks I can confidently say this has improved the texture of my skin and help lighten my acne scars. When I run out of this bottle I will definitely be repurchasing it. 🧡For reference I use this peel once a week for 10mins🧡 ✨MAKE SURE YOU WEAR AN SPF AS ACIDS CAN MAKE YOUR SKIN MORE PRONE TO SUN DAMAGE✨
The Ordinary-AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
not for everyone
this peel was something i was so so so excited for. sadly it did not do the wonders i wanted it to do on my skin. i used it for five weeks, varying from once to twice. after the first use my face was really soft and vibrant so i can see how people love it. but i noticed after the second and third times it started to break me out. now normally i’m not acne prone and my skin is not sensitive so this shocked me. so i thought it couldn’t be because of the peel. i further used it for another two weeks in hopes of it working out, sadly it just didn’t. i saw temporary relief but in the long run it wasn’t worth risking my skin. but just because it didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it should discourage you from trying it out. some people swear by this!! think of this as just a little disclaimer and tale of caution. don’t get your hopes up too quickly loves. Acne Scar Miracle Worker
I tried this product to see what the hype was all about and can I say- it lives up to it! Review- this product claims to help with texture, minimize pores, and reduce redness or acne scars on the skin. I’ve used this mask TWICE and even after the first time using it I could see my pores had shrunk. The second time using it I woke up the next morning and my acne scars are almost gone and my skin is glowing Rating- I gave this 5 stars with no complaints. Although I do see why people don’t like it, it does give a tiny bit of a burn but for me personally it wasn’t too bad. It just made my skin feel itchy! Purchasing- I for sure will be buying this again when I run out. Especially since it’s only $7!!! The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

First, ignore my weird hairline sunburn. Okay everyone loves this product and told me I should use it for my acne and blackheads. Sooo I did. I did a test patch on my arm a few days ago and left it for 5 minutes and it started to tingle and burn after a few. Knowing this could happen I immediately washed it off. So when I went to put the peel on my face I was a little nervous and decided not to do my whole face, only my problem areas, and to only leave it on for 5 minutes. I also have a weird sunburn on my hairline and I didn’t want to put it on that. Aaaaaand nothing really happened. Maybe I didn’t use enough? Maybe my face is less sensitive than my arm? I don’t feel any burning. Maybe a little tingling but not really and that was at the very end of the 5 minutes. I washed it off, and my face doesn’t look or feel any different. I will try again next Sunday, and do my whole face for 7-10 minutes to see if that makes a difference. It also smelled like a weird mix of chemicals and some kind of berries maybe? I don’t like the smell at all. I do however love that it looks like blood. Hopefully next week we will see more results. Fingers crossed!

Affordable and Super Effective
This is the first peel I have ever bought. I saw several reccomendations from influencers and couldn’t resist with how cheap it is. You leave it on for only 10 minutes and you’ll feel some tingling but no pain. I struggle with hormonal and cystic acne and this has helped clear my skin. I use it once to twice a week. You can get The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution from Ulta or Sephora.
