My “Ordinary” Journey
My skincare routine needed a revamp but I didn’t know where to start. I wanted to use products with good ingredients but I know many companies “green wash” to make you believe all their ingredients are great. I did lots of research and decided to give The Ordinary a try. A little background on my skin: I have aging skin (I’m pushing 38) and it’s been on the dryer side since having kids. I also tend to get peri-oral dermatitis every winter. Then of course, I still get occasional breakouts! Yay hormones 😜 In September, as I was running out of my current skincare products, I replaced them with The Ordinary. I chose HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser

Which peptide is for you ❓
Peptides are one of the best anti aging ingredients out there. Unfortunately there isn’t too much scientific studies yet but the ones that have been conducted have been very positive. The great thing is that there tons of peptide options for different steps in your routine or different concerns which means you can try out different options. The Ordinary - Argireline Solution 10% This is a serum that targets dynamic lines and has shown to have a 15-25% deduction in treated fine lines. The Ordinary - Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density This is a hair serum that peptides are the primary ingredient that is used to stimulate growth. The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% This is an anti aging power house with a combination of peptides, including copper peptides that are proven to be widely effective. This serum also improves over all skin texture including fading acne scars. THE inkey LIST - Hepta-Peptide Anti-Aging Serum This is a creamier serum that feels soft on the skin and has a variety of peptides. THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer This is a moisturizer that contains peptides which makes it very easy to incorporate peptides into a routine. This is a gel/cream blend which is easily smoothed on to the skin. NIOD - Modulating Glucosides This is a very scientifically innovative serum with a large variety of peptides that focus on skin barrier repair. VERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream This is a gel/cream hybrid with peptides to treat find lines and algae to hydrate. This also has mild colour correction and illuminating properties.
Anti aging power house
I’m 27 and I want to start my anti aging game early so that I can prevent signs of aging instead of simply reducing them when they appear. I have fair skin and dry skin and even if I have been a diligent sunscreen user my whole life I know these may work against me. Currently my skin looks very young but I definitely want to keep it that way. Our skin starts producing less collagen after 25 so you eventually start showing signs of aging. Great ingredients to prevent signs of aging are retinol (also great for acne), AHAs and peptides. This is a copper peptide serum that is a powerhouse peptide complex to target wrinkles, loss of collagen and dullness. This copper peptide serum from the ordinary is a relatively new addition into my routine as I love the ordinary. The ordinary is cruelty free, eco friendly and affordable which I love! I know this serum is their most expense item but it is still way more affordable then other brands. The other reason I use this serum is that pepetises (especially copper peptides) have been shown to reduce acne scars. Meaning this are all round skin repairing. What is this: This is a copper peptide serum that is described by the brand as a multi technology peptide serum that targeted signs of aging. How to use: 2-3 drops and massage all over the face Texture: This is a viscous texture that I find easy to massage into my skin, I have dry skin that absorbs this into my skin instantly. I also love the blue colour as it makes my routine more fun. Smell: Like all ordinary products there is no addition fragrance (synthetic or natural) so the smell of the product is the result of the ingredients. This particular product has a vague vinegar smell that does not linger. Price: This is $28 cad for 30mls which is still pretty affordable The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% so far I an enjoying this, it makes my skin look plump and gives it a great glow. I don’t have many signs of aging so I am using this as a preventative treatment. I have noticed that it help fade my scars which is a great thing.

My Morning Routine to Conquer the Day!
Having a good morning can often make or break your entire day. There are a few steps I always take every day to try and set myself up for success. For me, it’s especially important to have a morning routine when working from home— this is because getting ready and prepped is as much as a physical transformation as it is for my mindset. I always wake up, and brush my teeth first thing with something that’s good for me and my teeth. I love Davids - Peppermint Toothpaste along with Tom's OF MAINE - Simply White Fluoride Toothpaste Clean Mint who are both eco-friendly and pack their toothpastes full of natural whitening and enamel strengthening ingredients. The SLS and other dermatitis inducing ingredients in all toothpastes can make you break out, so I always follow brushing with a gentle cleanser like Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser or fresh - Soy Face Cleanser Limited Edition to remove it without stripping my skin. I’ll tone and then roll on my favorite facial oil or lightweight moisturizer (YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream is great for the daytime!) with an iced jade roller like this oneNEIBOURHOOD BOTANICALS - Jade Roller Gua Sha Facial Massage You can use ice, but this is nice to help de puff eyes as well and give a quick wake up. While letting my oil sink in, I’ll put on a pot of tea that caters to my skin (spearmint and green tea) to drink in lieu of coffee which gives me anxiety, and do my morning stretching and meditation while it boils. When I’m done stretching, I’ll add the hot water to my teabag and let it brew. While it’s brewing I’ll add a multitasking SPF to protect and make my skin glow without makeup, with something like COOLA - Classic Full Spectrum 360 Sun Silk Drops SPF 30 or a tinted moisturizer like it Cosmetics - it Cosmetics CC+ Cream SPF 50+ to even out my skin tone and make me look more awake, while protecting me from sun damage. If I have zoom meetings or errands, I’ll put on quick makeup. If not, a hydrating lip mask it is. Something like BITE - Agave+ Intensive Vegan Lip Mask lasts for hours and makes my lips feel super hydrated and nourished, while looking soft and supple. I’ll then light a candle with an invigorating scent like lemon or eucalyptus and drink my tea to center and calm myself to be ready for whatever my day may throw at me! Because I’ve already taken care of my personal care necessities, I feel more bada$$ already. I hope you enjoyed this post. What does your morning routine look like? ✨
Tretinoin and Spironolactone Progress July-Dec
I’m back! And wow what a difference! I’ve since switched upped my dosage to Apostrophe 0.05% tret with 4% Niacinimide cream forumula beginning in November. I’m also taking 50 mg of Spirinolactone now. My face has definitively gotten a lot drier, with some mild peeling throughout the day (any tips are welcome!) I’m going to see how waiting 15 mins before apply tret after moisturizer and 15 minutes after tret will work Overall, I feel like my forehead has a smoother texture, and I’m seeing less breakouts. I now definitely want to start working on reducing the appearance of my acne scars, but with my face so dry right now, I’m not sure if that’s an option. I’m going to wait a while and talk to my derm about adding in any actives. Also very sad about the Purito sunscreen scandal :-( Here’s my routine below: Morning (focus on hydration and barrier) CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum HONEST - Hydrogel Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 Night (applying tret nightly-wondering whether to reduce to every other day ) DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser (or COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser ) dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Then putting BRUJITA - Vegan Crema on my driest areas Apostrophe Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema
Worst product I’ve tried this year
FINALLY FINISHED THIS PRODUCT OMG!! Didn’t mean to post 2 negative reviews in a row but well here we are. So I just wanna say that just because this product didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I have normal to oily skin but my skin is also sensitive and gets irritated easily so I do like products that claim to be gentle. My issue with the HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser is that it’s too gentle. I would have to use a lot of product for my face to actually feel clean and even then most of the time I felt like I was just washing my face with just water. Because this didn’t do a good job of breaking down my face oils and well cleansing my skin it led me to get a lot of skin texture and white heads luckily I had a couple other items that helped get rid of that. If you have dry skin I think this would work really well for you but it was a huge no for me.
Morning selfie, pre-workout and ZERO makeup. Overall, love how soft and smooth my skin tone is. I am lucky in that way. But I wish I could get rid of my undereye circles those pesky horizontal forehead lines without Botox :( I started a Retinoid routine about 3 weeks ago and no results yet but here’s to hoping! Also just bought The Ordinary The Ordinary - Matrixyl* 10% + HA this week so going to hope that helps smooth down those “expressive eyebrow” lines 🤷♀️ Please tell me I am not the only one with these lines!
At home dermaplaning
I’ve been doing a lot of research on at home dermaplaning because it’s something I’ve wanted to try but needed all the information first. What is dermaplaning? Dermaplaning is a skin treatment that uses an exfoliating blade to skim dead skin cells and hair from your face. It's also called microplaning or blading. Dermaplaning aims to make your skin's surface smooth, youthful, and radiant. ... It's also used to remove “peach fuzz,” the short, soft hairs on your face. Estheticians may do this as part of a facial or as it’s own service. But, with the proper tools and some patience, you can do this treatment at home. While looking for information on dermaplaning, I found that it could be done on a dry face or with facial oil. I was a title nervous to try it with oil for the first time, what if I slipped?! So dry skin it was for my first attempt. I sprayed my face with HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray and wiped it with a cotton round to remove excess oils. Then, once my skin was dry I started dermaplaning on my cheeks. Using light downward strokes, avoiding my sideburns. After my cheeks, I moved to my forehead. I was surprised how much flaky skin was being removed from that area!! Once the broad areas were complete, I moved to my jaw line, around my mouth, and finally around my nose. My skin is most sensitive in this area, so I think next time I’ll avoid it all together. It was a fairly quick process. I went slow as to not nick my skin. A light hand is key. And don’t go over the same area again and again, as it can lead to irritation. When I was finished, I rinsed my face with warm water and immediately applied The Ordinary - Matrixyl* 10% + HA as it is a humectant and I also used The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% along with a generous amount of The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane once all of that had soak in thoroughly, I lathered on my SPF for the day. Be cautious about applying any acids the first day as they may irritate your skin. But let me tell you, my makeup looked fantastic all day long. I had way less breaking up around my nose and mouth than I normally encounter. The foundation laid so smoothly and lasted much longer. I’m very happy with the end result. When I attempt dermaplaning again in a few weeks, I’m going to try it using oil and I’ll let everyone know how it goes! *I’m not a professional esthetician or make up artist. This is just my personal experience and I am in no way encouraging others to try this or any other procedures at home*

Not worth the hype🙁
I grabbed the ordinary moisturizer at ultra beauty for $7. I was happy to know that it was affordable and on shelf’s. After applying this product on for the first time, I was kinda disappointed. The skin absorbs up the product quickly, leaving it dry fast. I noticed after a couple days, my skin started breaking out on my forehead and chin area. The one good thing that I liked about this product was how soft my skin felt afterwards. I also liked the fact that there is no scent to this moisturizer. I would lightly recommend this product to oily skin type, or to someone who is new to skin care. I will not be repurchasing.
1 week update
thanks to all lovely beauties out there to take their time and add a comment on my last post. I was devastated by breakout, i was having from last 2-3 weeks and nothing seems to be working. Well i guess too many exfoliants was making my skin too sensitive so now i am back to basics. I have started what i was doing in the beginning and that seems to be working just fine. I think i was selfish to have a great skin in no time 🥴. If someone is just curious what i am doing right now then lets go to products. AM: The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser sukin - Pore Perfecting Toner Blemish Control it has tree oil which is good for acne prone skin The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios XL Ultra-Light Fluid SPF 50+ as i have sensitive and oily skin this makes my face matte and oil free. I really like this one for oily skin or combination skin PM: The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser sukin - Pore Perfecting Toner Blemish Control The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (only on spots and acne 2-3 times a week) The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA (once a week) The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (once a week) The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque (once a week) The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane tea tree oil only on spots Even if i have listed so many items i feel i have very basic skin care routine as most of the products are being used weekly or only 2-3 times a week. But in the end this routine is working out for me and i am seeing good progress which makes me happy. Again thanks to all who suggested me before ❤️❤️

Which Niacinamide would you choose?
This is definitely not a dupe situation. These two formulas are only similar in the fact that they contain the same amount of niacinamide (as well as some texture and preservative agents). I’ve been a longtime user of The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and it does work, but I felt after my first bottle I wasn’t getting any continued results. I was also left unimpressed and looking for a different option due to the fact that this is a very tacky formula that can be difficult to work with. TO includes zinc in their formula which they state can reduce acne and can be anti-inflammatory. At $6 you’re getting your 2 active ingredients; niacinamide and zinc. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster includes the same 10% of niacinamide but doesn’t stop there. They also add vitamin C and a BUNCH of calming, hydrating and restoring products that your skin needs (see attached ingredient list). It’s been a controversy whether or not vitamin C and Niacinamide can be used together, even The Ordinary suggests that their Niacinamide not be used at the same time as vitamin C. Many brands and consumers have disagreed. Paula’s Choice adds the protective ingredients to ensure you’ll have less of a chance of irritation. Paula’s Choice serum is a lightweight watery formula that leaves no residue and I find easy to work into my routine. I wasn’t quite prepared for the thin formula as The Ordinary has more of a tacky texture. I found it best to add it directly from the dropper to my face, versus my hands then face. When it comes to the price difference it does seem that The Ordinary would be the obvious choice. I’m not one that believes that quality skincare has to cost more. But Paula’s Choice formula offers much more than Niacinamide. You’re getting several ingredients that are not found in The Ordinary, hence the price difference. Once I’ve emptied my bottle I’ll be better able to determine if spending 4x’s the amount is worth it. I could choose to use a less expensive option and add the antioxidants and other skin-replenishing ingredients found in Paula’s Choices formula, but I have to admit, I do like the simplicity of fewer steps in my skincare routine. 😉 There are also several other options available that I’ve not yet tried. I have tried The Inkey List and it is just a tad bit less tacky than The Ordinary. Other brand options I’d be open to try are: Good Molecules $6 - formula looks similar to TO and TIL with the only active ingredient being niacinamide Naturium $16 - 10% niacinamide and 2% zinc Good Molecules $14 - similar again to TO and TIL I LOVE how Paula’s Choice lists their ingredients. Behind each one you’ll find out how it benefits the skin. This saves me a TON of time and effort when doing my reviews! Individual reviews on The Ordinary and The Inkey List Niacinamide can be found on my page. What’s your favorite Niacinamide to use? ❤️🍒
Current Products I'm Using
I have oil/combo skin and been struggling with hormonal acne for a few years now which is mainly around my chin. I have noticed some positive changes but also some negative ones, for example I have more blackheads in areas besides my nose which I never had before. Here are the products I've been using lately. AM Routine I don't cleanse in the morning just splash water on my face and pat dry, then I apply PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist C15 Super Booster after I apply moisturizer e.l.f. - Holy Hydration! Face Cream - Fragrance Free then sunscreen Supergoop! - Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50 With Sunflower Extract PM Routine During the day I don't wear much makeup just some mascara so I just use GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water with Rose Water for my first cleanse, then I go in with PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore Normalizing Cleanser which I am just about out of so I will be using CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanserwhich I haven't tried before but decided to buy it because of all the hype! Than I apply my toner and depending on my skin at the time I will either use PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore-Reducing Toner or I'm from - Rice Toner I have just recently purchased and starting using The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% then I moisturizer with THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer I use PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator twice a weeks and PAULA'S CHOICE - 1% Retinol Treatment with Peptides + Vitamin C 3 times a week. My skin is still breaking out so I'm gonna try eliminating certain products to see if I can pin point what is causing the breakouts and blackheads. I recently purchased a cleansing brush and I'm gonna start by eliminating the Paulas choice BHA Exfoliator and start using the brush 2 or 3 times a week instead. If that's not the problem then I'm gonna try taking out the Vitamin C. If anyone has any advice or tips I am all ears!!!

another two bite the dust ✌🏻
Two more empties: HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray I’ve already reviewed this toner on my previous post. I like the sprayer aspect but the formula is just meh. Nothing to write home about. I’ll keep the spray bottle to reuse again but probably won’t repurchase this toner in the near future. DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil The smell was a little weird at first, think olive oil, but overall the consistency and the way it felt being massaged into my skin won me over. I loved this product but will not be repurchasing due to the backlash the brand is receiving due to racist comments made by the brand’s creator. As consumers, we are powerful. We have the power to perpetuate wealth for creators. We vote with our wallets. I will not continue to support or buy a brand that has questionable ethics. I have instead chosen to purchase THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm as it’s replacement! Have you tried these products? What do you think? Do ethics play in to which brands you purchase from? Let me know ☺️
January empties !!!
Let’s start with those that I most likely would NOT repurchase: ACURE - Seriously Soothing Cleansing Cream the aspect I liked least was the smell. I just couldn’t get over it! For that reason alone, I would not repurchase. HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray nothing particularly exciting about this toner. I have some other toners I’ve had my eye on so I’m going to move onto something new next! Next let’s talk about what I would repurchase: CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum very gentle retinol serum, great brand, what more can I say? COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence this had me glowing at first! But I feel that the improvements I initially saw faded after awhile and I haven’t noticed the same results since. I do like using this as another layer of moisture in the cooler months. Finally, let’s talk about what I’ve already repurchased: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% this serum is fantastic! I get some larger hormonal breakouts along my jaw line and I feel like since I’ve started using this product, it does a great job keeping those pesky pimples as minimal as possible. I’m not sure how it compares to other brands’ Niacinamide products but I sure do The Ordinary’s version! Have you tried these products? What do you think?
Week 2 of Barrier Repair
After doing some more research I changed my routine to the following in Week 2: AM CLEANSE: washed face with water TREATMENT: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 MOISTURISER: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream EYE CREAM: CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream SUNSCREEN: PAULA'S CHOICE - Calm Mineral Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 PM PRE-CLEANSE: GARNIER - Micellar Milk Cleansing Water for dry and sensitive skin, this has been amazing and so gentle on my skin CLEANSE: CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin this is a nice gentle cleanser, as of yet I am not sure of the long term benefits but it doesn’t leave my skin dry/tight after washing. Will continue to see how it goes. TREATMENT: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 this definitely leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated after use. But unsure if hydrating enough. EYE CREAM: CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream still haven’t seen any improvements with this. MOISTURISER: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream as soon as I started using this my skin improved dramatically over night, I no longer had red rashy-looking bumps on my upper cheek. Even my husband noticed and complimented how my skin looked in the morning after just one use !! So this is a winner. Although, I am thinking as I get closer to summer I will go back to The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA as I tend to get oily in the tzone and it is lighter than the DE moisturiser. Please tell me what you think of my routine. I am also looking at adding a chemical exfoliator, as I have deep black heads and visible pores across my cheeks and nose. And I get hormonal acne along my jawline. Suggestions on where to take my routine next are welcome. We have come out of winter and going into spring. The sun is out but the air outside is still quite nippy so havent started getting oily just yet.
PAULA'S CHOICE-Calm Mineral Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30
Post-Gym AM Skincare Routine: Soothe + Balance
Sweat plus heat and chafing makes a cocktail of maskne and irritation for my sensitive skin, so I focus on calming ingredients and layering lightweight hydration. My combo skin loves layered products since it’s less likely to clog my pores than one heavy product yet really hydrates my drier areas. This routine is added fragrance- and essential oil-free, as I avoid those two categories of ingredients. • CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser is a gentle cleanser that allows me to scrub off sweat and previously applied sunscreen without stripping my skin or overcleansing. Its humectants start binding water into my skin, making it wonderful when my skin feels hot/chafed. • The Ordinary - Marine Hyaluronics uses marine-derived humectants and amino acids to help pull water into skin, without the tacky finish of their HA serum. Love this for how lightweight it is, it layers beautifully with other serums with no pilling and mixes well with anything I want to dilute! • PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster minimizes pores, reduces the prevalence of acne, increases collagen synthesis, and controls oil production. This is my HG, my “if you could only use one” serum, so fantastic. It is so, so calming too, making it fantastic for angry skin. • PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum is a light serum-lotion that contains multiple ceramides, a variety of emollients (oils, shea butter, etc), and fatty acids to augment the skin barrier. Supporting the skin barrier reduces the likelihood of skin issues like irritation, dryness, and even acne since acne can be linked to inflammation! • VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream contains squalane oil, aloe vera, green tea extract, and jojoba oil- the aloe vera specifically comes through heavily in this refreshing, bouncy gel that skin soaks up easily. Oily skin would especially benefit from the lightweight water-dominant formula. Tip: put it in the fridge if you’re using it at home, it’s cooling and so good during the summer. • PURITO - Comfy Water Sun Block is an oily skin gift! It’s a medium-weight cream that’s mostly water, utilizing zinc oxide as its sun-protectant active to make this a surprisingly lightweight mineral sunscreen. I’ve not noticed a white cast and it has a semi-matte finish that minimizes shine but doesn’t make skin flat. #CheriePartner
PAULA'S CHOICE-10% Niacinamide Booster
daily skin care routine 🧚🏼♀️✨🍒
so this is my first post !! i’m so excited i found this beauty community !! a little about my skin,,, i have oily, sensitive, acne prone skin, with a bit of eczema so i’m always weary to try new products in fear of a reaction. i’ve had acne for 7 years now and have tried every product under the sun,, but nothing seemed to work for me. but this quarantine has given me so much time on my hands i’ve been able to do a bunch of research on ingredients and different products. but i’ll get right into the review & my opinion on these products :)) 1) CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin i really like this cleanser because it is super gentle on both the skin and acne, and i can actually feel it soothing my face when i wash with it. it doesn’t lather a whole lot and my face doesn’t feel stripped or dry after using it. i don’t use a full pump either, just half works for me. it has helped soothe some irritation and redness in my skin. 2)The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% this product or ingredient even isn’t something i had heard of until i really started getting into skin care but it is totallyyy underrated. i feel like not many people know how amazing this product is for so many skin concerns. i have a lot of hyperpigmentation and redness and this has helped calm my skin down a wholeee lot. i don’t look like a complete tomato without makeup now. my scars and pigmentation are starting to fade and my face just feels so much less irritated. definitely one of my holy grail products. 3)The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA okay so this isn’t one of my favorite products in the world, but it gets the job done. i’m actually just using this until my new moisturizer arrives in the mail. this product is a bit thick but does a good job of moisturizing. i just prefer a lighter consistency. it doesn’t make me oily at all, even after 12 hours of wear. i don’t hate it, but i’m not in love with it either. 4)CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum now i would like to say that the general population is completely misled about retinol. it is marketed as an anti-aging product, which it does, but was originally developed to treat acne ! this is the very first retinol i have ever used and i started about a week & a half ago. even with this little time it’s been used, it has helped my acne sooo much. all of my pimples have gotten smaller, my texture has smoothed out dramatically, and it’s even changed my skin from oily to combination. i am in love with this product so far and i can’t wait to see more results in the weeks to come. definitely my holy grail !! (I only use this at night) 5) PURITO - Comfy Water Sun Block something every skin care fanatic needs and should use everyday is a good sunscreen. as an oily-skinned gal, i was less than thrilled when i found out as sunscreen usually just made me an oily mess. but this sunscreen is great !! absorbs quickly with no white cast. works great under makeup too.

Post Accutane Night Time Skin Care Routine
While on accutane I had a very simple skincare routine to allow the medication to do its thing. I’m 7 months post Accutane, and my face is still pimple free. Yay! My skin care concerns at this time is discoloration/dark spots and minimal scarring on one of my cheeks. In this routine I am using the Fresh Soy cleanser to cleanse. It’s so important to make sure you’re thoroughly cleansing your face so that the remaining products can properly penetrate the skin. I use esthetician Nayamka Roberts-Smith (@LABeautyologist)’s 60 second rule when cleansing. Cleansing your face with your fingers for 60 sec allows the cleanser ingredients to do their job. This method helps to soften the skin & dissolve sebum blockages a lot better. I then follow up with applying a hydrating toner (Laniege Cream Skin toner and moisturizer) to my face with my hands. Then 2-3x a week I go in with the exfoliating serum ( The Ordinary’s Mandelic Acid 10% + HA serum) to minimize texture and uneven skin tone. Mandelic acid is gentle and works great on hyperpigmentation on people with deeper skin tones. To end it all off, I use the Kate Somerville recovery cream. Cleanser - fresh - Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash Toner - LANEIGE - Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer Serum -The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA Moisturizer - Kate Somerville - DeliKate Recovery Cream Pro Tip: Wash your hands before washing your face!🧖🏾♀️ #CherieCreator
LANEIGE-Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer
*UPDATED* PM skin routine 🌚
This is my pm skin routine, updated. This is my part 2 to my last post of my updated AM routine! 🌊HOLI FROG - Superior Omega Nutritive Gel Wash my boyfriend got me this for my bday, and I’ve used it 2 times so far. The consistency is perfect for what I wanted, I felt like I needed this for my stubborn hormonal acne. It also is unscented. So far, I like it a lot! ☕️ YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner when I exfoliate, this is my go to. I have a review on this in a previous post, where I go into more detail. 🍃NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% this is what I got instead of another TO niacinamide serum. I like this one a lot better, and I think it’s simply because it is formulated better. It doesn’t foam up like TO does, and it’s also unscented. It’s consistency and packaging is also better. The results are what’s expected from a niacinamide serum, and price wasn’t too bad for this serum either. 🍁The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG see my am routine post for details on this product. 🧬GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum I like this serum because it’s cheaper like the ordinary, and it doesn’t foam up like TO did, but it still foams a little bit. It’s good enough for me, and isn’t scented. 🐘 DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream this is my night moisturizer, and I love this because it’s thick and hydrating. It feels nice on the skin, doesn’t have any scent, and makes my skin feel plump. It is expensive though, but DE always is. pmd - Clean Smart Facial Cleansing Device I got this in my subscription box, and I’ve been using it at night to wash my face. It has 4 vibration settings, I use the first and second one for washing my face. I do think that it helps with exfoliation, and using the other side of the tool is made for massaging in serums. I found that it does take a lot of extra time when using it for serums. I like this tool, it’s nice, but not necessary. More of a luxury item.

New skincare routine!
So it’s been a loooooooooong time since I’ve had a skincare routine, and I’ve been wanting to get into taking better care of my skin, so I got a few things I’ve been wanting to try and fingers crossed my skin improves. My skin is oily/combination, I’m lucky to not have any acne issues however I am prone to food and hormone related breakouts. My skin however is very textured, I have large pores, acne scarring and some premature ageing (around my eyes mostly). I’m starting out simple with my routine for now, but I may branch out and try more things (mostly looking at retinol and vitamin c) in the future. So watch this space!!
