Skincare for Time-Savers – My Lazy Day Skincare Routine for Acne!
As someone that is beauty product OBSESSED – I sometimes end up with a twelve-step routine before bed. Although this is fun, sometimes I have to step back and ask myself: · Do I really need this many products? · Could too many products be actually harming my skin instead of helping? · Could I achieve the same healthy skin with less product application and significantly less money spent? A few details about my type of skin include: · European heritage · Oily-skin that is dry with the wrong products · Acne-prone skin since I was fifteen/ subsequent scarring · Fighting anti-aging and fine lines, especially around my smile and forehead. (Curse my expressive face that cannot hide any emotions!) So I asked myself – Can I get this down to three products? And voila! I selected my favorite three that I could NOT live without. When I do not feel like bringing out the entire skincare brigade – I opt for these main trusted three: 1. Herbivore’s Blue Tansy Resurfacing Mask – A bit about this product includes: a. Great for a once-per-week mask b. Sometimes I use it twice per week if I’m suffering from bad acne c. The ingredients clarify using aloe (soothing) blue tansy (redness calmer), white willow bark (anti-inflammatory), all combining for a resurfacing-effect that fights bacteria. d. Contains BHAs and Salicin (an anti-microbial that kills bacteria) e. The scent is fruity and smells like herbs/aloe f. Blue tansy has a mildly-medicinal fragrance g. The texture is thick, almost like maple syrup h. A little goes a long way! i. One bottle can last me about 6-months if I use it properly j. Price: $48.00 k.Ratings: 4.5-stars out of 200+ reviews 2. Terre Mere’s Aloe and Tea Tree Toner – A bit about this product includes: a. I only recently discovered this in my Fab Fit Fun box, a subscription service that sends new beauty products to your door once per season. b. On days that I do not mask with the Blue Tansy – I only use this toner and the oil listed in #3. (If only using these bottom two products, I would use the toner first, and then follow-up with the oil on step #3, for an even more simplified routine). You should also cleanse/wash your face between toning and moisturizing, but we’re going for basics here! c. I tend to lean towards products with aloe, very calming for my skin’s redness d. The tea tree oil offers an anti-fungal property to fight harmful bacteria that clog pores e. Infused with a sulfur compound that they claim offers a collagen-boosting effect f. Vegan g. Willow bark (now that I’m researching, quite similar to the blue tansy mask indeed!) There is a reason these ingredients are used for fighting acne – they work! h. Fragrance-free - important unless the fragrances are naturally-occurring. You don’t want to clog your skin with dyes and perfumes. i. Price: $54.00 j. Ratings: None available 3. Herbivore’s Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil – A bit about this product includes: a. I love the brand Herbivore Botanicals! It is one of my all-time favorites. Not only do I trust them for clean, vegan, and highly-moisturizing products, but they also fight my breakouts like no other topical treatment ever has. b. The prices are slightly high – however, the formulas are so concentrated. I have been able to make a bottle of this last for 6-months. That is less than $8 per month. So there is no need to see your skincare as a major luxury! c. Fights redness and dullness d. Absorbs quickly e. Great for any skin type– even oily skin. That is what it’s for! If you have oily skin, stripping it of natural oils will only reinforce oil production, resulting in more breakouts. Do not fight your skin’s natural proclivity to produce oil! Okay, queens!? f. Even if you have dry or combination skin, this product will leave you feeling exceptionally moisturized without a greasy effect. g. Utilizes a blend of cannabis oil, hemp seed oil, omegas, and adaptogens h. $1 for each bottle sold is donated to help legalize cannabis for therapeutic-use and medicinal research i. The color is as the name suggests – emerald to light green j. I use about 2-3 drops per morning and night k. I gently massage it into the places that become the most inflamed (around mouth mostly) l. Price: $48.00 m. Rating: 4.5-stars out of 100+ reviews I have a few other favorites, but honestly, nothing compares to these OG three! These main three products are heavily responsible for my skin having: · Reduced redness · Less inflammation and acne · A smoother texture · A brightened glow See the before and after pictures for proof of my glow-up!

I Discovered a Gem! 💎
I was looking through random serums at TJ Max and discovered this facial oil with Retinol and Blue Tansy as the star Ingredients! 😍 The Blue Tansy caught my eye, because it's not a very common ingredient, especially in cheap skin care. But it's a good one! And for only $5.99, it was a deal I couldn't pass up! Ingredients: 🏵 The FIRST ingredient is Safflower Seed Oil. This is a non-comogodenic oil that can actually be beneficial to unclogging your pores if continued use. This also has amazing anti-inflammatory properties, and it's an antioxidant. 🌼 The second is Vitamin E Oil. Vitamin E oil moisturizes and conditions the skin. It adds a healthy glow to the skin. It's also known to help reduce wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. This is also non-comegodenic, but it depends on the skin. 💙 Next up is Blue Tansy Leaf Oil. Blue tansy does wonders for redness, inflammation and acne. It has antioxidant properties as well. It's often used to calm irritated skin, and has amazing abilities to kill acne-causing bacteria, and clear pores. It's one of the best oils for acne prone skin. You don't find it much, and if you do, it's typically on the expensive side. I really want to try the HERBIVORE - Blue Tansy Mask which also has blue tansy and has raving reviews! 🥜 The fourth ingredient is Jajoba Seed Oil. This is yet another oil packed with antioxidants and moisturizing & soothing properties. It's also antibacterial. It works in controlling sebum production, and is known to speed up wound healing & damaged skin. This is also rated as a non-comegodenic oil. 🧬 The last ingredient is Retinyl Palmitate. It's a combination of pure retinol and the fatty acid, palmitic acid. It's shown to be an effective antioxidant. This targets fine lines and wrinkles, and helps promote cell turnover & exfoliation. My Thoughts? Overall I really like this oil, and it's suitable for my acne-prone skin. The ingredient list is top notch with no BS ingredients. It moisturizes my skin and absorbs well. It doesn't feel greasy after like 5-10 minutes. I use it at night and then wake up with a smooth and even complexion. With consistent use, I think it would be really beneficial. I also love the blue color of the oil. It's so fun! 😄 You can find it online, and it's commonly at TJ Max, Ross or Marshall's!
My newest holy grail 🙌🏻
I have been able to try this once and it made my face so incredible looking I’m going to go ahead and review!!! HERBIVORE - Blue Tansy Mask This is a redness LIFE SAVER!!! After using this mask one time (I’m being super serious) I had ZERO redness in my cheeks!!!! No product has ever taken away that redness completely before! It’s all natural and best suited for acne prone and oily skin. Claims: Targets these concerns: + Pores and blemishes + Uneven skin texture + Oily or combination skin + Dullness Key ingredients: Fruit Enzymes, White Willow Bark, Aloe, and Blue Tansy Essential Oil. I’ve never used a product with blue tansy before and I’m pretty sure this is what makes this mask so amazing!! Instructions say Apply a thin layer to clean skin. Leave on for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with warm water. For sensitive skin, leave on for 5 minutes. I waited 20. The scent is medicine like, like they say on the page but I LOVE those types of scents. It made me a little green looking while it was on and I didn’t really experience much tingling so it was comfortable for me! The minute I got done rinsing this off I could tell this was an amazing product!! Like I said, my redness was GONE 🙌🏻, my face was smooth, and my pores looked so much smaller than they ever have. I cannot give this first use review on this product enough praise! This mask is $48 for 2.3 oz but you don’t need much to cover your entire face. I’m buying this full size as soon as I’m done with this review!!!

Empties that I would definitely repurchase!
Krave - The Beet Shield $20 for 50 ml This is hands down the best face spf I have ever tried! No white cast, no weird sunscreen smell, sits well under makeup, AND spf 50. It dries slightly dewy so if I am wearing it alone I will set it with powder, but if I am wearing makeup it is the perfect primer. Have already repurchased twice SUMMER FRIDAYS - CC Me Vitamin C Serum $64 for 1 oz I have super sensitive skin and it is rare that I find a vitamin c serum that doesn’t irritate my skin at all. This one is super gentle but still has noticeable brightening effects. It is a hydrating serum due to the added squalane, and makes my skin so happy. It smells slightly like cinnamon, but in a very subtle and natural way. Will repurchase once I finish my current vitamin c serum HERBIVORE - Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil $58 for 1 oz This oil is so hydrating and soothing and perfect for the winter! I definitely notice my skin is less red when I wake up after using this oil. It has a natural herbal scent but I actually really enjoy it. I’ve gone through 3 minis and will be purchasing a full size very soon SheaMoisture - Red Palm Oil & Cocoa Butter Leave-In or Rinse Out Conditioner $11.19 for 13 oz I have used this both as a leave in and rinse out conditioner, and while it works great for both, I much prefer it as a leave in. Not too sticky and adds the perfect amount of moisture to my dry, curly hair. This paired with a styling gel and my curls are hydrated and defined and so shiny! I can’t even count how many of these I’ve gone through Not Pot - Pineapple CBD gummies ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ $40 for 30 gummies These gummies help me sleep better and feel less stressed through the day. I don’t take them everyday and so I definitely notice a shift in my mood when I do take one. They taste great and not at all like weed. I’ve gone through 3 bottles over the past few months and can’t wait until they restock! #cheriepartner
My favorite lazy nighttime routine - in minis
A good nighttime routine for me has at minimum 3 vital steps: oil based cleanser, water based cleanser, and moisturizer. This simple 4 step routine is my go-to for traveling because it hits all my requirements plus a little something extra! First cleanse: Elemis Pro-collagen cleansing balm This is my absolute favorite first cleanse. It has a jelly like consistency and removes all traces of makeup and spf fairly easily. It does contain some essential oils which can be sensitizing for some people, but has never bothered my sensitive skin. Second cleanse: Youth to the People Superfood cleanser I really appreciate a foaming cleanser that is gentle enough for use twice a day. This is a thin gel consistency that has a gentle lather. I can even use this to remove any eye makeup that was left behind after my first cleanse. Moisturizer: Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask This is such a multi- use product! It can be used as a 20 minute wash off mask, an overnight sleeping mask, or a daytime moisturizer for those with drier skin. It’s full of ceramides to help moisturize the skin. The mask contains niacinamide too which helps even skin tone and visibly minimize enlarged pores. Oil (My bonus product): Herbivore Emerald Oil I love the cbd version of this oil (there is also a hemp one) to add extra hydration and decrease my natural redness. It’s incredibly hydrating, but sinks into the skin super well and doesn’t feel too oily at all. It also has ashwagandha to protect against environmental stressors. #cheriepartner
ACNE FIGHTING OIL
HERBIVORE - Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil For Oily & Acne-Prone Skin Herbivore Lapis is my BABY!!! It’s one of the first ever large oils I’ve purchased from Herbivore. Lapis is a hydrating face oil to balance skin while improving visible redness and blemishes. It’s a solution for acne, blemishes, redness, and pores. I love love love using this if I have some breakouts and redness around the areas, and honestly use this a lot during the cold winter when my skin can get chapped by the winter winds. * * * I’ve had the large bottle for a little over a year now and it lasts you quite a while for $72 since it’s not something you NEED to always use every day. At least not for my skin, anyways. I decided to try it because I had gotten a sample from a Sephora purchase and fell in love with the results, I needed to get the full size. It’s easy to use and I find it very effective. * * * It’s so effective because of the amazing ingredients. Blue Tansy which helps reduce redness and clarifies the complexion WITHOUT drying your skin. It contains natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial prosperities. There is plant-based squalane, which I know some skin types don’t react well to, but I find no issue using squalane. It’s a natural protective barrier to keep moisture in the skin, while PROTECTING from hyperpigmentation and premature aging. Kukui Nut Oil balances the sebum layer and oil production for those who have oilier skin types. This oil provides a high layer of hydration, as well as Jojoba oil. * * * This definitely gets 5/5 stars because I find it very hard to drop $72 on a skincare product, but when you know it’s a staple, then you know, you know? * * * Second pic is 5 drops applied in palm! As you can see it’s very very light weight and the color obviously isn’t a strong once it’s actually applied!
HERBIVORE-Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil For Oily & Acne-Prone Skin
BEST OIL FOR ACNE-PRONE/OILY SKIN
First things first, FOLLOW ME!! It means the world 🥰 I’ve tried sooooo many face oils that are meant to be good for oily/acne-prone skin (rosehip, jojoba oil... you name it) and they’ve all caused breakouts. I don’t use oily on the daily, just on occasion where my skin gets dry patches. Squalene oil is amazing for my skin type! Squalene oil is naturally present in our sebum, so by adding it on my face, it reduces my oil production the next day. It’s sooooo hydrating and speeds up healing of any scabs and wounds I might have from popping pimples. If your skin is on the oily side you’ll be glad to know that squalene doesn’t leave a greasy residue, absorbs quickly and is has anti inflammatory properties! LOVE U SQUALENE 🥰🥰🥰 The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane

Face oil for acne
HERBIVORE - Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil For Oily & Acne-Prone Skin Claims to help with redness, acne and blemishes - Redness: Somewhat / Blemishes: Somewhat / Acne overall: Yes Texture - Thin and runny Scent - Strong Parabens - No ——— I gave into the hype! This Herbivore oil has been everywhere and I had to buy it because so many people were talking about it. I’ve used up two minis now and decided to share my thoughts. This a balancing oil so it’s target is blemish/acne prone skin, oily skin and redness issues. So this will balance out your skin and help with redness, blemishes and is even acne friendly! This oil did a good job in evening my skin out. Helped slightly with redness and somewhat with break outs. My breakouts are my worst enemy for my acne so I was glad it helped a bit! I experience break outs almost weekly, so this helped a little... but in short not my favorite product to use for this issue. It’s hydrating in my opinion and sinks well into the skin. Additionally has a beautiful blue color. The product is lightweight and I love that. Contains jojoba oil, one of my all time favorites and also blue tansy, jasmine oil, vitamin E and squalane. The ingredients list is not my issue, except the coconut oil maybe but it didn’t clog my pores or is heavy. My big issue with this is the smell. It’s fine for a while but it lingers. Since this is an oil, I don’t layer anything on top of it so it smells a lot. So all in all it’s a multitasking oil that smells really strong of blue tansy and jasmine oil. But it’s the blue tansy that’s supposed to help acne-prone skin. The smell might sound good but somehow it’s not. Wouldn’t repurchase this. $72 dollars is too much and I have other products that work better for me. But it’s one of the few acne friendly oils I’ve seen on the market that actually work! It does balance out the skin. So I would recommend this to try, at least the mini. Seemed to have helped many people so might work for you too!

BYEBYE Mario Badescu
🌊 I used to be on the Mario Badescu HYPE. I owned all of these products and more, from their MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion to their MARIO BADESCU - Buffering Lotion and every variety of spray and lotion. 🌊 As a teenager through sophomore in college, i used their products religiously, because the brand was so popular and cult favorite. I know better now, because i understand my skin more and have learned about ingredients. well I still like the rose water facial spray, I’ve stopped using everything else from this brand. Why? you shouldn’t put alcohol on your face, especially if you have sensitive skin and acne. A burning sensation is an assignment a product is working most of the products in their acne care line contain alcohol The brand is an all cruelty free and vegan. That’s just an ethical thing for me their products just didn’t work for me. That’s not entirely the brands fault, as every persons skin is different they chemicals inside of a product A lawsuit was love it against the company for putting steroids into two of their creams, and people had negative reactions over prolonged periods of time 🌊 i learned: just because it works for others doesnt mean it works for me

What happened after 10 days of a vitamin C line
Over the past 10 days I have been trying out Georgette Klinger’s Vitamin C line! For a bit of background, I have acne prone skin and some hyperpigmentation from previous pimples. I went into this hoping to see improvements. To get the negatives out of the way first, I really dislike that these products have fragrance. All 4 products in this line have fragrance listed as the last ingredient. I would prefer products with active ingredients such as vitamin C to have no fragrance at all as to reduce any chance of irritation. The Vitamin C complex in particular was irritating to my skin so I omitted it from my routine early in the 10 days. My favorite from his line is the Vitamin C mask. I’m a big fan of masks and wash off treatments. I also love thta this is a bentonite clay based mask because those tend to work well with my oily skin. I will definitely continue to use this mask and don’t mind the fragrance in this formula because it is a wash off. As for the toner and cleanser, I didn’t see much positive or negative effects on my skin. They were okay and got the job done but I’m not sure if they’re something I want to include in my everyday routine. At the end of this challenge I can definitely see an improvement in the brightness of my skin. I will say however that my skin took a while to recover from any irritation it faced and I’m not sure if including an active ingredient in every step of your routine is necessarily more effective.
GEORGETTE KLINGER-Vitamin C Cleansing Gel
Blume kindly gifted me this product to try! Meltdown has been super helpful with spot treating my acne. This oil claims to fight acne, prevent future scarring, tighten your pores and reduce inflammation. Here are all of the ingredients below: Black Cumin Seed Oil, Rosehip Oil, Tamanu Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Comfrey Root Extract, Olive Leaf Extract, Lavender Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Helichrysum Flower Oil, Blue Tansy, Chamomile Flower Oil, Rosemary Leaf Extract I have been using this for about 4 weeks now and I am happy to report it does reduce the duration of my pimples. It is quite fragrant from all of the ingredients so if you’re sensitive to strong scents, beware. Obviously, its pretty hydrating, opposed to many spot treatments I have tried. During my period, I like to mix this in my moisturizer. This oil runs for $45 for 1 oz, which is okay for the amount you actually use. It goes a long way. ☆☆☆☆☆
