BEST Oils for Oily-Prone Skin – Yes, You Need Oil Too!

avatar
JulietH21
You may believe that your oil skin needs to be stripped of all oils. As someone that has always been shiny by noon, I understand the pain of feeling like a grease-ball. I did everything in my power to dry up patches of oil and keep it dry – only causing myself to break out more and more. What I didn’t know then is that oily skin still needs oils! In fact, if you strip your oily skin of their natural inclination for oil – It will only produce more oil, causing you to break out considerably worse or end up significantly oilier than you started.Yes, by stripping your skin of oils, you only make more oil on your skin.So the solution? Add healthy oils back onto your skin that won’t clog your pores.I was reluctant and prepared for a breakout when I tried Herbivores line of oils. To my surprise:·       My acne cleared up·       My skin had noticeable smaller pores in 1-2 days·       My skin was less oilyYou can see by the pictures that I have been going through these oils fast! I use them and I love them. The 4 products that I’m currently using from Herbivore Botanicals are as follows:·       Phoenix Oil – Like rising from the ashes, you will feel revitalizes with this morning glow serum that is perfect to apply first thing in the morning before makeup. This is a stunning blend of rose hip, omega fatty acids, and sea buckthorn oil to deeply nourish.Best for:o   Dry skino   Anti-agingo   Dull skino   Morning use ·       Lapis Oil – This product won Readers’ Choice Beauty Award for Best Natural Skin Care Product by Glamour in 2020. Using the flower that creates Blue Tansy oil, Lapis helps to balance combination skin and clear breakouts.Best for:o   Acne-Prone skino   Oily skino   Combination skino   Morning and night use ·       Emerald Oil – This product is made of CBD, Cannabis Extract, and Hemp oil to use nature’s powers for a noticeable glow. With over 70 attempts of this concoction created before they settled on the best formula I’ve ever tried; this is my go-to oil for calming redness and making my skin feel fresh.Best for:o   Dry skino   Redness and inflammationo   Acne-prone skino   Morning and night use ·       Bakuchiol Oil – Lastly in your routine, use this retinol-alternative soothing serum for anti-aging care before bed. Known to seal in hydration to the skin, this is a gentler alternative to retinol which doesn’t react well with many sensitive skin types.Best for:o   Fine lines and wrinkleso   Dry skino   Uneven textureo   Night useI hope these work for you and that this tip helps at least one oil-skinned person stop stripping their skin of all oils! Adding more will actually close up your pores, as counterintuitive as that seems.

🌙 CURRENT NIGHTTIME ROUTINE 🌙
My biggest skincare goals right now are focused on texture and hydration. I find it can be challenging to find a routine that is balanced in exfoliants and hydrating/ calming products. I’ve tried to rush my skin into results and it never works, and while I wouldn’t consider this my “holy grail routine” it’s something that’s working for me right now to target specifically texture, without drying out my skin. Here’s what I’m using, and why I love it! 1st cleanse: EARTH HARBOR - Sunshine Dew Antioxidant Cleansing Oil a heavenly smelling, effective oil cleanser that gently removes any sunscreen, makeup, or gunk from the day. 2nd Cleanse: CLARISMA - Cool Ocean Breeze Daily Cleanser this cleanser has really been the driver in retexuring my skin, the fruit enzymes in this cleanser are gentle exfoliants that didn’t give the dead skin cells on my face a chance! It really brightened and purified my skin. Serum: #Intoxicated Cosmetics - Snail Venom Serum[products]#[FiveStars] I just did a results post of this serum, and was amazed and how effective this serum was! Check out the post, you gotta see it to believe it 😉 Eye Cream: FARMACY - Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream with Acerola Cherry I like this eye cream, nice texture and good brightening results! I’ve enjoyed using this eye cream but will probably go back to BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream when this pot is finished. Treatment: HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum I love this natural retinol alternative! I’ve been nervous to integrate a retinol into my routine so I’ve been happy to use this alternative as a placeholder. Great hydrating and plumping qualities! Moisturizer: SATURDAY SKIN - Waterfall Glacier Water Cream love the bouncy gel texture of this cream. I like that it’s a little bit cooling upon application, calms my skin and makes me feel ready to catch some zzZZzzZ’s. If my skins feeling really dry I’ll add 1-2 drops of HERBIVORE - Emerald CBD + Adaptogens Deep Moisture Glow Oil to my moisturizers, this oil is amazing for hydrating, calming and reducing redness! And of course lip care! I always slather on a nice coating of SUMMER FRIDAYS - Lip Butter Balm before bed, smells amazing and gives my lips a nice drink! Helps me wake up with soft, hydrated lips. I also have been rotating these three masks and using each once per week! LATHER - Honey Moisture Mask with Propolis Extract : For deep hydration, and soothing dermatitis flare ups. HERBIVORE - Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask : For resurfacing. I only use this for 8-10mins at a time right now to ensure I’m not over exfoliating or over-drying my skin ORIGINS - Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores : For pores, T-zone only!

Glowy & Healing Facial Oil 💚✨
I’ve talked about my love hate relationship with facial oils before. There are far & few that I actually enjoy & incorporate into my routine. I have combination skin for reference - primarily oily with some dry areas around my nose, chin & corners of my mouth area. That being said, just because one has oily skin, doesn’t mean they have to deprive their skin from enjoying facial oils altogether - it’s all about finding what works for YOU! 💚 I received this itty bitty mini using my Sephora points of the Herbivore Botanicals’ Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil. I got this a couple months ago and at least use it once a week (mainly because I dread emptying it) and it’s lasted me quite a while, clearly. I like to dispense 3 drops into my moisturizer, and for this oil & what I have being used in my collection, I have found it pairs best with the Youth to the People Adaptogen moisturizer. What I love about this facial oil is how it seeps into the skin beautifully & effortlessly - it doesn’t leave a greasy film or sits on top of the skin. It seeps right into the skin, providing rich moisture and leaving my skin with a natural glow. A key ingredient in this facial oil is CBD, which I have found to work well with healing the skin, as well as reducing irritation & inflammation. ✨ The day will come when I eventually empty this bad boy & I most certainly plan on purchasing full size in the future! There are so many other products from Herbivore that I am dying to get my hands on - let me know your favorite products that I must try down below! 💚 HERBIVORE - Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil

Empties that I would definitely repurchase!
Krave - The Beet Shield $20 for 50 ml This is hands down the best face spf I have ever tried! No white cast, no weird sunscreen smell, sits well under makeup, AND spf 50. It dries slightly dewy so if I am wearing it alone I will set it with powder, but if I am wearing makeup it is the perfect primer. Have already repurchased twice SUMMER FRIDAYS - CC Me Vitamin C Serum $64 for 1 oz I have super sensitive skin and it is rare that I find a vitamin c serum that doesn’t irritate my skin at all. This one is super gentle but still has noticeable brightening effects. It is a hydrating serum due to the added squalane, and makes my skin so happy. It smells slightly like cinnamon, but in a very subtle and natural way. Will repurchase once I finish my current vitamin c serum HERBIVORE - Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil $58 for 1 oz This oil is so hydrating and soothing and perfect for the winter! I definitely notice my skin is less red when I wake up after using this oil. It has a natural herbal scent but I actually really enjoy it. I’ve gone through 3 minis and will be purchasing a full size very soon SheaMoisture - Red Palm Oil & Cocoa Butter Leave-In or Rinse Out Conditioner $11.19 for 13 oz I have used this both as a leave in and rinse out conditioner, and while it works great for both, I much prefer it as a leave in. Not too sticky and adds the perfect amount of moisture to my dry, curly hair. This paired with a styling gel and my curls are hydrated and defined and so shiny! I can’t even count how many of these I’ve gone through Not Pot - Pineapple CBD gummies ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ $40 for 30 gummies These gummies help me sleep better and feel less stressed through the day. I don’t take them everyday and so I definitely notice a shift in my mood when I do take one. They taste great and not at all like weed. I’ve gone through 3 bottles over the past few months and can’t wait until they restock! #cheriepartner

🌱RATING HERBIVORE FACIAL OILS 🌱
Hey everyone, I wanted to do a quick little review on my experience with these three herbivore facial oils! My number one was the HERBIVORE - Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil For Oily & Acne-Prone Skin . This is the only one of these three I would repurchase, it has a very distinct sweet herbal smell that has grown on me so much to the point were I find it absolutely delightful now. It isn’t for everyone, especially at first but if you like it I promise you will end up loving it. The full size goes for $94 for 50ml but will last you ages since you only need 3-4 drops at a time. The blue tansy oil which gives this facial oil it’s bright blue colour helps reduce redness and clear completions with its anti inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It also has a sedative effect which can help reduce stress, tension and anxiety. This is my all time favourite facial oil, and is now a total staple in my skincare collection. Next is the HERBIVORE - Phoenix Rosehip Anti-Aging Face Oil for Dry Skin this oil is just a little too expensive for me at $115, anything above $100 is where I draw the line especially when there are so many other more affordable rosehip based oils on the market. This definitely smells floral, rose dominant, with a little soft citrus - it’s very hydrating and soothing. I’m glad I tried it but price is the main reason why I wouldn’t repurchase. And lastly HERBIVORE - Orchid Facial Oil I’m sorry... this is not for me. It may be for some but not me haha. It seriously reminds me of my grandmas bathroom - a constant overwhelming potpourri smell. It’s $84 for a full size and I’d 10/10 recommend spending the extra $10 and snag the lapis oil instead! If you like some not so delicate, feminine florals this might be for you but if you are scent sensitive this could just be a headache. Have you tried these oils? Do you agree, disagree?! Let me know your thoughts ✨💛

Luxurious velvet oil for dry skin. 🥀
-Hello! Thanks for clicking on my post! 🥰- Today I am reviewing the HERBIVORE - Phoenix Rosehip Anti-Aging Face Oil for Dry Skin which was gifted my @cherie! Thank you for this little gift I really enjoyed this product. 😋 This luxury oil is a blend of botanical and CoQ10 (a nutrient that occurs natural in the body). It serves to hydrate and revitalize the skin in need of replenishment and deep renewal. What are the ingredients? Rose hip oil: Natural rich in omega fatty acids 3,6 and 9 to visibly plump skin. Also high in trans-retinoic acid (vitamin a). Sea Buckthorn oil: The richest natural source of Beta Carotene (vitamin A) and rare Omega 7. Cheaseed CO2: An excellent natural source of alpha lipoic acid (antioxidant). Meadow Foam oil: Works to lock the moisture into the skin. Neroli Oil: Natural Brightens the appearance of the skin. Claims: To be an anti- aging To combat dryness And dullness Personal experience: This is such an effective moisturizer oil that helped me so much during this dry weather of winter. It is long lasting, and it brights my skin during the day. The scent is quiet a mild botanical smell, there is not added fragrance at all. The texture is like a medium- weight oil. It suits every skin, because I am combination skin and it adapted to my oily and dryness skin so well, and my mom has a dry skin, and it helped her to brighten her skin and to keep her hydrated during the night as well. I think this is such a good oil, but it didn’t make me feel like “wow”. However, my mom did like it a lot. It is targeted as an anti-aging product so I think it is more for a mature skin. Let’s talk about the price. A full size product is $88.00 USD. Seems pricey uh? But I read in many reviews that this big bottle lasts them a year if it’s used daily. Now, it does seem like a fair price for the long lasting product. I might add this as a Christmas present for my mom. ☺️ I hope you enjoyed my review! 💖 Enjoy your day!

My Fav Facial Oil For Acne!
My Fav Facial Oil For Acne!
Herbivore Lapis Balancing Facial Oil ($72/1.7oz) What it is: A hydrating face oil to balance skin while improving visible redness and blemishes. For: Normal, Oily, and Combination Skin Types. Skincare Concerns: Acne, blemishes, Redness and Pores. My Experience: I present to you, the love of my life and the BEST skincare product for oily acne-prone skin. Lapis has been a game changer for my skin; it has balanced it out so beautifully, my pores are almost invisible, my acne has completely disappeared, and my redness is so minimal, that I cannot thank Herbivore enough for creating such magical oil. I have been using this oil for about 2 years and I have repurchased it in several occasions. With ingredients like blue tansy, kukui nut oil, jojoba oil, squalane, vitamin E, jasmine sambac oil, and Moroccan rose oil, Lapis is my all time favorite product! It is! Five drops is enough to give me all those miracle results and it is so lightweight that I even forget it is a facial oil. And the smell is so heavenly and pleasantly intoxicating, I would not mind bathing in this if I could. It works amazingly well with other products and I can even use it as moisturizer or mix it with one for extreme hydration. Please Herbivore, you can never stop making this product because it is magic in a bottle, and I need it in my life, forever! 1000% recommend it to anyone with redness and blemishes. Cherie Rating: 5/5

ACNE FIGHTING OIL
ACNE FIGHTING OIL
HERBIVORE - Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil For Oily & Acne-Prone Skin Herbivore Lapis is my BABY!!! It’s one of the first ever large oils I’ve purchased from Herbivore. Lapis is a hydrating face oil to balance skin while improving visible redness and blemishes. It’s a solution for acne, blemishes, redness, and pores. I love love love using this if I have some breakouts and redness around the areas, and honestly use this a lot during the cold winter when my skin can get chapped by the winter winds. * * * I’ve had the large bottle for a little over a year now and it lasts you quite a while for $72 since it’s not something you NEED to always use every day. At least not for my skin, anyways. I decided to try it because I had gotten a sample from a Sephora purchase and fell in love with the results, I needed to get the full size. It’s easy to use and I find it very effective. * * * It’s so effective because of the amazing ingredients. Blue Tansy which helps reduce redness and clarifies the complexion WITHOUT drying your skin. It contains natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial prosperities. There is plant-based squalane, which I know some skin types don’t react well to, but I find no issue using squalane. It’s a natural protective barrier to keep moisture in the skin, while PROTECTING from hyperpigmentation and premature aging. Kukui Nut Oil balances the sebum layer and oil production for those who have oilier skin types. This oil provides a high layer of hydration, as well as Jojoba oil. * * * This definitely gets 5/5 stars because I find it very hard to drop $72 on a skincare product, but when you know it’s a staple, then you know, you know? * * * Second pic is 5 drops applied in palm! As you can see it’s very very light weight and the color obviously isn’t a strong once it’s actually applied!

Face oil for acne
Face oil for acne
HERBIVORE - Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil For Oily & Acne-Prone Skin Lapis Facial Oil is named for the precious blue oil it contains, Blue Tansy. This oil contains Azulene which helps in soothing dry irritated skin, reducing the appearance of redness and balancing skin. It is for combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin types or any skin in need of balancing hydration.  Target concerns: + Blemishes/acne + Oily skin + Redness It has herbal and slightly sweet scent with a fruity note. The texture is Lightweight oil, deep blue in color. This is a clean oil with no fillers and are formulated with totally natural ingredients. K E Y   I N G R E D I E N T S
Blue Tansy: High in Azulene, which is a deep, inky-blue color naturally.
Kukui Nut Oil: Naturally high in linoleic acid to balance oily and combination skin.
Jojoba Oil: natural moisturizer
Squalane: It protects the skin against the appearance of hyperpigmentation and premature aging.
Jasmine Sambac Oil: It works to increase the skin's moisture content and boost elasticity. My experience: This oil absorbs really well. I always wake up to soft, smooth and glowy skin after using this oil. I love its soothing effect.

It is pretty expensive $72.00 for 50ml. So, I got the mini. The product is vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free. I recommend it those with oily and acne-prone skin. It leaves skin nourished, balanced, soothed and hydrated with no greasy residue.

Herbivore Lapis Oil
Herbivore Lapis Oil
I know most oily and acne prone girls are taught to stay away from oils, but Herbivore’s Lapis Oil is everything an acne prone girl needs. This facial oil, which contains blue tansy, is meant to hydrate the skin while visibly reducing redness and blemishes. When I heard about an oil that would actually treat blemishes, I was floored, and HAD to try it. It’s been a year, and this is a holy grail for me still! The texture of this oil is very lightweight and non-greasy. It’s quite thin, so you don’t feel like it’s going to clog your pores or anything. Unlike other facial oils, which would be the last step of your routine, I actually like to use this oil right before my moisturizer. Since it’s more of an active oil, I want it to penetrate my skin and breakouts to help clear them out! I have really noticed a difference in the clarity of my skin since using this oil that way. This oil really does provide a great dose of hydration, but definitely treats acne at the same time. It’s actually a really good one-step product if you’re in a rush — it covers the treatment part and the moisturizing part all in one. The only downside with this oil is the price point — it’s is definitely quite expensive. Herbivore has some mini sets that include this oil, so it would be a great value to try out the mini sets first before committing to the full size. I started out with the mini, and then repurchased more minis, until I realized I needed the full size, since it was THAT good. Now, I’m hooked! I would totally recommend it to those of you dealing with acne! HERBIVORE - Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil For Oily & Acne-Prone Skin

Not worth it.
Not worth it.
BLUME - Meltdown Oil for Acne-Prone Skin is a popular acne spot treatment that many Instagram influencers use. I was one that got influenced and I regret it. It is a pricey product that yielded absolutely no results. If I had known, I would have gone with another spot treatment. This product has the consistency of a face oil and does not absorb as quickly as I’d like. I have used it both on its own and mixed with creams and masks, all with no improvements. It is mixed with lots of essential oils so, while it smells great, it is very overwhelming. Definitely something I recommend using only at night, if you do decide to try it. On the bright side, it caused no new acne or redness, so that’s good.

BLUME-Meltdown Oil for Acne-Prone Skin

Face oil for acne
HERBIVORE - Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil For Oily & Acne-Prone Skin Claims to help with redness, acne and blemishes - Redness: Somewhat / Blemishes: Somewhat / Acne overall: Yes Texture - Thin and runny Scent - Strong Parabens - No ——— I gave into the hype! This Herbivore oil has been everywhere and I had to buy it because so many people were talking about it. I’ve used up two minis now and decided to share my thoughts. This a balancing oil so it’s target is blemish/acne prone skin, oily skin and redness issues. So this will balance out your skin and help with redness, blemishes and is even acne friendly! This oil did a good job in evening my skin out. Helped slightly with redness and somewhat with break outs. My breakouts are my worst enemy for my acne so I was glad it helped a bit! I experience break outs almost weekly, so this helped a little... but in short not my favorite product to use for this issue. It’s hydrating in my opinion and sinks well into the skin. Additionally has a beautiful blue color. The product is lightweight and I love that. Contains jojoba oil, one of my all time favorites and also blue tansy, jasmine oil, vitamin E and squalane. The ingredients list is not my issue, except the coconut oil maybe but it didn’t clog my pores or is heavy. My big issue with this is the smell. It’s fine for a while but it lingers. Since this is an oil, I don’t layer anything on top of it so it smells a lot. So all in all it’s a multitasking oil that smells really strong of blue tansy and jasmine oil. But it’s the blue tansy that’s supposed to help acne-prone skin. The smell might sound good but somehow it’s not. Wouldn’t repurchase this. $72 dollars is too much and I have other products that work better for me. But it’s one of the few acne friendly oils I’ve seen on the market that actually work! It does balance out the skin. So I would recommend this to try, at least the mini. Seemed to have helped many people so might work for you too!
