Hi beautiful ladies, This is my skin. I am sorry for the partial pictures, I am too embarrassed to post my full face. I was diagnosed with rosacea (some redness but mostly red papules which never go away), have enlarged clogged pores especially on my nose and forehead, combo skin, blemishes, sun spots, uneven texture and so on... This is currently my routine that helped a lot with reducing the amount of red blemishes and made my skin smooth (like butter according to this app :) although my rosacea is mostly gone, I feel very self conscious about its appearance. I included some pictures of how my skin used to look with a rosacea flare up. Here is what I use now: 1. Cleanser with sulfur (prescribed by dermatologist) 2. ETUDE - Etude House SoonJung pH 5.5 Relief Toner

Very oily skin?? Look here ⬆
About me: 44 yrs old, brunette, light-med skin tone, combo skin (oily t-zone, dry face), dark spots (from sun), dark circles and bags. So there it is folks! Just a peek into the universe of my insecurities in which I'm proudly and expensively working on... °I absolutely LOVE snail mucin creams. They're known for being very hydrating and depending on which one you purchase, are also known for being safe/great on sensitive skin! I found my first snail product a couple years ago and decided to switch to a better known brand MIZON - All-in-One Snail Repair Cream BIG MISTAKE! This gel/cream has a silky, sheer and slippery texture. little is needed to evenly spread onto the face and neck area. It absorbs fairly quickly and dries down to a matte finish. Ok your probably thinking, "what's the problem," at this point, right? It's waaay too drying. It dries down to a matte finish almost as if my face drank an entire cup of water and was still thirsty. It enlarged my pores instantly and when I opened my mouth or raised my eyebrows I could feel how tight the gel/ cream made my skin. In the picture you can see redness around my mouth from just opening anf closing it. This might be great for very oily and sensitive skin types. °This one is NOT for dry skin. IMO I gave 2 stars because I like the slippery, non fragranced texture. °Pros: slippery texture, small product amount needed per use, no fragrance, no color, 92% snail mucin, product lasts a long time, very affordable, can be found easily online. °Cons (for ME, could work for YOU): dries to a matte finish, too drying, enlarges pores, skin feels uncomfortably tight. I will be looking into purchasing a different snail cream since I really liked my original snail cream but I want a snail product with more UUMFFF to it! Any suggestions would be great! °Sorry MIZON - All-in-One Snail Repair Cream I really wanted to love and keep you but when I gave you a spin, you dearly disappointed me. It's ok, maybe you'll be someone else's HG!
dr. brandt - Clean Biotic From the first time I used this overnight sleeping mask I saw and felt immediate results the next morning, NO JOKE! I absolutely adore this mask, it’s SO soothing and smells SO good and while you enjoy these factors as you drift off to sleep 😴 you can take comfort knowing it’s repairing your skin while you get your beauty sleep! Hands down best over night mask evaaaaarrrr😁💚 MIZON - All-in-One Snail Repair Cream So it’s kind of a funny story how I ended up buying this product (which is effing INCREDIBLE). I was buying Peach and Lily’s Glass Skin serum and I needed to spend a bit more money to get free shipping 😂! So I decided to give the Mizon all in one snail 🐌 repair cream a shot. And omg am I ever happy I did! This moisturizer (which can be applied morning and night) not only hydrates deep down into the skin but after a month of using it, I stopped wearing coverup and I was getting compliments left and right about my skin - I was baffled but SO happy I could cry, that was the first time ever in my life that: 1. I stopped using coverup and 2. That I felt comfortable and beautiful in my own skin for the FIRST time ever in my life. Mizon has given me the gift of great skin and confidence, and I am eternally greatful 🥰❤️❤️❤️! #CherieConversations

This is my simple but effective skincare routine. I was using a million different sample size skin care products I was getting in my Ipsy bags and I never had any noticeable results. I wanted to simplify and concentrate my efforts. Tony Moly peach punch sweet foam cleanser is my day and night face wash, it smells amazing and leaves my skin soft and clean. Olay regenerist cleansing whip is my go to face exfoliating cleanser, I use this once or twice a week. Elf CBD moisturizer is a game changer. I have had red cheeks for as long as I could remember and it calms my skin and feels like a cold drink of water straight to my face. I use this every morning. I recently found the Elizavecca line of skin care products and was super excited to try it, plus the packaging is so cute. I use both of these every night. The serum absorbs so quickly and beautifully, then I apply the retinol and my skin feels so amazing. Even when I wake up, my skin is so soft and supple. I want to try a stronger retinol maybe. But for now I am in love with my simple everyday skin care routine
Elizavecca Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid ❤️
Despite having oily, dehydrated skin hyaluronic acid is one of my favorite skincare ingredients! This ingredient holds 1,000 times its weight in water adding a lot of hydration into the skin. About a year ago Elizavecca sent me their Elizavecca - Hell Pore Control Hyaluronic Acid Serum to try out. For $26 you get 50 ml of product. This serum claims to help with retaining moisture, brightening the complexion, and wrinkle reduction. It claims to contain 97% hyaluronic acid. While I did like this serum it wasn’t my favorite. The packaging is absolutely adorable and the glass bottle dropper made it easy to get to the product. That being said the product is very tacky. You might like this more if you have dry skin but for someone with oily skin if you put on too much it’ll sit on top and makes make up slide off. It doesn’t fully absorb like I would want. I think it does add a layer of hydration but I didn’t see any of the brightening and wrinkle reduction claims. That being said I would recommend this to anyone with dry skin looking for a hyaluronic acid. I feel like the tackiness would benefit your skin type more than it did mine. If you applied this serum before your moisturizer it would really lock everything in. For me, personally, I don’t think it’s worth it. I think it’s too expensive and too tacky. But if you have dry skin and have been wanting to try this I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad product. Just not for me.

Skincare in the hospital: what I brought!
Being the type to never skip my skincare routine, I knew I wouldn’t be able to go without while in the hospital after giving birth! That being said, I knew I’d need to pair it down to the bare essentials, and bring practical items. Due to complications I had a cesarean, and my daughter came a lot earlier than expected (she’s 8mos and super pudgy currently). I hadn’t quite pictured it being the way it was, but it was honestly a beautiful experience (minus the major surgery). So with that, I was in the hospital for about 4 days after delivering. Naturally, I wanted to care for my skin in the small ways I could, since I couldn’t really walk to the bathroom to wash my face (and I kinda didn’t want to because it hurt too much tbh), so how’d I do it? Here’s how, and here’s what I brought. I packed my favorite lip balm for starters, hospital air is insanely drying and it really does a number on your skin and lips. DHC - DHC Lip Cream is my go-to, and kept my lips nice and hydrated. Next, because I knew how sweaty and gross I’d get just sitting there, I brought Johnson’s Head-To-Toe baby cleansing cloths so that I could give myself a sort of sponge bath while confined to my hospital bed. They smell super fresh, do a decent job, and didn’t irritate my skin. I wouldn’t personally use them on my baby because her skin is so sensitive to wipes. But that being said, they helped me to feel less gross, and were worth it! I then packed my travel Belif toner and essence belif - Bestsellers On-the-Go Travel Kit , and soaked a bunch of cotton pads in water, and also a handful of them in essence/toner. I was able to sort of cleanse my face this way while being stuck in the bed, and it was one of the few things that made me feel human again. I used the cotton pads soaked in water to wet my face to cleanse, then to wipe off the soap, and followed up with toner. I brought my favorite soothing serum and cream for my skin at the time, as my face during pregnancy was always battling dry itchy red patches. I used dear, klairs - Rich Moist Soothing Serum , and then dear, klairs - Rich Moist Soothing Cream . The scent is barely there and smells natural, and it did wonders for my skin. Lastly I’d finish up with innisfree - Orchid Youth-Enriched Eye Cream Now, the one product that helped me to feel super at-home and refreshed, despite the wreck that was my body, was GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist . It was so refreshing to mist my sleep-deprived self with this stuff; and it kept my skin so hydrated and comfortable. I also brought some dry shampoo; Ouidad - Clean Sweep Moisturizing Dry Shampoo If you’re packing your birth-bag, consider throwing in some skincare!
APRILSKIN, Real Calendula Peel off Mask
I took a leap of faith on this one and ordered the APRILSKIN - Real Calendula Peel Off Pack mask mostly in part to there excellent advertising techniques even though I knew no one who has tried this. With half the bottle gone, I still am not sure how I feel about this mask. My skin had a nice glow as well as some relief for my pores. It’s gentle enough to where I don’t feel like I just lost layers of skin and hair in the process of applying this mask. Bottom line not sure If I will be reordering but happy enough to finish out the bottle. I finished off my routine with some SON & PARK - Beauty Water (Absolutely love this toner!), which enhanced the glowy aspect of my skin and moisturized with the dear, klairs - Rich Moist Soothing Cream which is nicely hydrating and gentle on my sensitive skin and shouldn't add to my pores that I just masked to clear out.
Cystic Acne - my journey to clear skin
During this quarantine time, stress has been high, my hormones have been a mess and everything has been reflected on my skin. I always struggled with acne with having very oily skin and guiltily touching my face (a lot!). A method that worked in my teen years was drugstore products (Oxy Acne Medication-namely the acne pads and the rapid spot treatment cream) in combination with the pill - but that pill got discontinued and since then there has been a constant battle between my skin and acne. Eventually, the drugstore products did not have any effects on my skin. My main problems are cystic acne and the deep scarring it leaves. I have searched over and over what to do to ‘cure’ cystic acne. The answers ranged from changing your diet completely to taking Accutane to eliminating stress. The only products I have tried that are making my skin feel much better are the Ole Henriksen products. I start my morning routine with the OLE HENRIKSEN - Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser This has significantly reduced the oil on my skin and visibly reduce my pores with its AHAs. I follow up with the OLE HENRIKSEN - Balancing Force Oil Control Toner This toner helps balance my skin with its BHA and AHAs properties. Once this is done I go in with the OLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Serum which is my daily dose of Vitamin C and collagen. I then add OLE HENRIKSEN - C-Rush Brightening Double Crème and OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Eye Crème I end my morning routine with VICHY - Idéal Soleil Ultra-Light Face Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 It’s a very light sunscreen that can sometimes leave a white sheen. This is important due to the sun sensitivity caused by the AHAs. For my night time routine I wash my face using a silicone pore refiner in addition to Spectro Sensitive Skin care cleanser. Before going to bed, I put on the OLE HENRIKSEN - Invigorating Night Transformation Gel on my face and neck which has helped tremendously in smoothing skin texture and evening tone. I then moisturize using the OLE HENRIKSEN - Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer It’s light and has a gel like consistency. Finally I add my eye cream Kiehl's - Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado Once or twice (if I have time) a week I also do a clay mask from origins which has left my skin soft and clean. ORIGINS - Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores When I feel myself breaking out I will use Nexcare Acne Absorbing Covers which are basically round stickers (2 sizes - small and medium) that will absorb the sebum from the blemish. It’s also a great way to limit the bacteria coming in contact with the blemish and you also avoid touching it. My skin is still far from fully recovering from cystic acne and these steps might not work for everyone, but for now I’m trying different things and seeing where this will go.

Skincare 101: Exfoliation Basics
Exfoliation is the best way to slough away debris and dead skin cells that are sitting on top of your skin and can clog your pores. Exfoliation speeds up cell turnover. If done correctly, it leaves you with healthier and happier looking skin, and makes moisturizing and applying actives more effective. There are two types of exfoliators: 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 ~ are body scrubs and products formulated with grainy particles that provide the actual scrubbing sensation. I think the best physical exfoliating method is, still, the use of 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡 — which most of us already have at home. Gentlest of them all, and is even safe to use nightly. Simply dampen the washcloth in warm water, add your cleanser, and rub in small circles beginning at the forehead and working your way down - be sure to use medium pressure. I also love 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐞𝐥𝐬. My favorites are Cure - Natural Aqua Gel and Pyunkang Yul - Pyunkang Yul Peeling Gel . While they don’t exactly fall under the category of physical or chemical exfoliators , I find them innovatively helpful and safe even for sensitive skin. Peeling gels use high acidity ingredients and utilizes a blend of surfactants like dicocodimonium chloride and carbomers that help to bind oils together to attract and remove dead skin. I also enjoy using facial scrubbers like the DERMAFLASH - Dermapore Ultrasonic Pore Extractor & Serum Infuser 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 ~ use acids such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or retinoid to mildly exfoliate deeper the skin. One of the main benefits of chemical exfoliation is that it does not require scrubbing, so it’s less likely to cause major irritation to the skin. I have written about AHAs and BHAs in my recent posts -- do check them out if you’d like to learn more about the ingredients🙈Most results aren’t seen until 4-8 weeks with chemical exfoliators. Some of my favorites are: Neutrogena - Rapid Clear, Stubborn Acne, Daily Leave-On Mask PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream Curology - Curology formula Still not sure how to exfoliate? you can actually use both a chemical and physical exfoliator if you’d like to. I personally find alternately using two types beneficial for me (don’t overdo it!). Skincare is a tough job. It’s best to listen to your skin, try out different methods, and you’ll learn what works best for you eventually❤️

How I Deal With My Acne
Big disclaimer before I begin: I don’t get a lot of huge breakouts. My main problems are dark spots and dullness. Acne? Not so much, although I do get pimples here and there around my monthly period. My methods for getting rid of my acne may not work for people who deal with a lot of cystic acne, but if I manage to at least point you in the right direction, it would make me really, really happy! ☺️ So anyway, like many other people out there, I tend to get pimples on my nose, forehead, jaw, and chin. There’s nothing wrong with getting pimples, but I can’t deny that not only do they not look pretty, they’re also a hassle to deal with (painful pimples, I’m glaring at you right now). This method has never failed to solve my issue with my pimples. Whenever I get them, I simply use these three products. If I happen to have a breakout, I switch my toner to COSRX - Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner because it’s really gentle and soothing to the skin. Centella is an ingredient that is known to be really effective for blemished skin. But not all Centella products are effective in removing pimples. In fact, for a while, I also used COSRX - Centella Blemish Cream but it worked so slowly that I wasn’t sure if it even helped. Plus, with a price tag of $20 per 30ml tub, I found it too expensive for something that didn’t work too well. Thankfully, I discovered MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion It’s roughly $25 per 30ml bottle, which is technically more expensive than Cosrx’s Blemish Cream. But since it works like magic, it’s really worth the price you pay. Just dip a q-tip into the bottle and apply the solution right on your pimple. When you wake up the next day, your pimple will be either be flat or considerably smaller. That’s why I said it works like magic. Once the pimple starts drying, I use COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch to cover it up and to speed up the healing. I also use it on pimples that have already popped, because again, it helps greatly with the healing process. It also helps me avoid scars that could come from pimples. With just these three products, I could easily deal with my pimples, especially around that time of the month. What about you, what do you use to combat your acne? Let me know in the comments below!

Bonajour Eggplant Daily BHA Toner
🍆 Bonajour Eggplant Daily BHA Toner 🍆 What is it? A lightweight gentle, anti inflammatory and antioxidant rich exfoliating toner 🍆Call Outs: Free Of: Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, Pthalates, Silicones, Alcohol Petroleum, Artificial Fragrances, and Dyes Vegan Cruelty Free 🍆Who’s it for? Great for those with acne or redness or anyone looking for a clean, gentle chemical exfoliant 🍆What’s in it? This product contains 84.43% eggplant extract which gives it the beautiful purple hue. Eggplant contains Lupeol which is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Additionally this product contains just a whisper of salicylic acid (0.5%) and antioxidant rich plant extracts such as japonica leaf extract, lotus leaf extract, and yeast ferment. 🍆My thoughts? I like it! This isn’t really strong enough for me to use as a my main exfoliant (because I have an exfoliating addiction) but I like it for off days or to use for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The texture is a lightweight, watery typical toner consistency and sink quickly into the skin leaving my skin feeling plump and soft and looking bright.

The YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner is an exfoliating toner that smooths skin, minimizes pores and tightens the face with a combination of lactic acid and glycolic acid. It is intended for dry skin types with concerns like dullness, uneven texture and loss of firmness. The texture is super liquidy, so I apply this either by patting it into my face or by pouring some on a cotton pad and swiping it over my face. ⭐️ I received this product for free in a gift set that Youth to the People came out with for the holidays called their Discovery Set ($48.) I’ve used it for about a month now and it’s one of the best toners I’ve ever used. I noticed a difference immediately in the texture and overall tone in my skin. My face felt soft and any redness was toned down. As far as long terms effects go, any of the texture of my forehead is pretty much gone and my acne scars are significantly lighter. ⭐️ This toner (and in fact, everything from Youth to the People) is 100% worth the money. A little bit goes a long way, so even this tiny bottle has lasted me a month. If you are looking for a new toner and you have dry skin or dullness, definitely give this one a try!

Not worth the hype🙈🥺
𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐡𝐚 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭 ~ a watery essence packed with 80% Fermented Yeast Extract, an ingredient with similar components to NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor) to target imbalanced skin; aims to improve the appearance of fine lines, evens skin tone while hydrating, and rejuvenates the skin to yield a glowing complexion. MISSHA - Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist I used this essence last year (I did not finish the bottle and got rid of it) I really wanted to love it 🙈 I've heard nothing but good things about it but I used more than half a bottle and didn't notice much of a difference. Maybe my skin was really problematic to start with. I did not expect it to cure my acne or help with hyperpigmentation, but I did not notice a difference when it came to radiance, skin texture, or redness either. To add, I’ve never really had good results with using fermented yeast extract. It seems to never really work on my oily acne prone skin. It claims to help diminish fine lines and wrinkles so I suppose it’s formulated and better for use on mature and dry skin. I did love the packaging and the feel of the product when you put it on though. It certainly hydrates but that’s about it. In my opinion, I don't understand the hype of this product and I think there are likely much better essences out there (like the Iope Bio Essence). I know I'm in the minority on this, so if you're on the fence it may be worth a shot for you. I’d go for rice extract.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
