oily skin & don’t know how to manage? I got you
this post is for all the people who have oily skin and sometimes just don’t know how to deal with it! well i’m here for some tips! I have oily/combo skin and I’ve learnt some important info during my skincare journey that I would love to share with you all 🤗 1. still moisturise it is super important for people with oily skin to keep up with moisturising ! you may think that your skin is hydrated and doesn’t need any extra moisture, but it still really does. if you don’t moisturise, or use products to keep your skin hydrated, your skin can overcompensate with releasing it’s natural oils, which in hand, can make your skin more oily 2. don’t be afraid of oils whether this is oil cleansing or any certain type of oil (rosehip, squalane etc), don’t be hesitant to use these products just because of your skin type. for me, oils have made a huge difference to my skin, especially oil cleansing! one thing to remember with oil cleansing, is that oils attract oils, and therefore are oil soluble. products like this help to get rid of grease, blackheads etc and can be great for oily skin! 3. use products targeted for oily skin I know that this one is quite self explanatory, but here are some products that helped my oily skin become more manageable! - niacinamide. this ingredient is amazing for oily skin ! it helps to decrease oil production from within the skin. my fav product is NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% , but I also don’t mind The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% -exfoliation. now with this I don’t mean physical exfoliation, but chemical exfoliation! my favourite exfoliant has to be PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator this one is my HOLY GRAIL product of them all ! I have many posts on this product so be sure to check those out for an in depth description. - clay face masks. these are good for absorbing oil and giving your face a matte finish. some of my favs are PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Balancing Oil-Absorbing Mask AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay I hope this helps and if you have any questions, feel free to comment 🌟🥰

MULTI TASK SERUM
Heard of Good Molecules yet? Hoping you have jumped on the bandwagon because this brand is so good for so many different reasons! Great line of affordable skincare and the brand really cares about their customers and how they get their ingredients and such. So far, my favorite serum is the GOOD MOLECULES - Discoloration Correcting Serum This is powerhouse serum that focuses on fading dark spots/pigmentation, refining pores and texture, and hydrating the skin! + Tranexamic Acid works to even the skin tone. + Niacinamide helps improve enlarged pores, dull skin, and texture. + hyaluronic acid keeps hydration locked in. + thicker consistency almost gel like serum + little goes a long way + results are slow, but will show! + $12! This has helped my acne scars and my pores the most! It has taken a little over a month to see results for me.

A quick review on the @peachandlily glass skin refining serum. 🍑✨ - A little about my skin first - it’s oily, acne prone, large visible pores and I have acne scarring as well as some hyperpigmentation. I’ve heard great things about this serum so I had to give it a try! Especially because it seemed like the perfect solution for all my skin issues - I’ve been using this product for a little over two weeks now and have seen such a huge difference on my skin! My breakouts have calmed down and pores are visibly less. Overall I’m seeing a brighter and more even toned face haha! I’m going to continue using it and hope that my skin only looks better! The serum is also super lightweight so it easily absorbs into your skin and gives you nice glow with dewy skin. ✨ - Anyone else tried it and like it? I’m hoping to only see better results! 😊

HOLY GRAIL VITAMIN C
Allies of Skin - VITAMIN C 35% COLLAGEN REBUILDING SERUM this serum is $$$$, but totally worth it. vitamin c is something to spend extra money on in my opinion. it’s a waterless formula, so it’s almost like a very light oil that’s blends effortlessly. with 35% vitamin c content, it’s super powerful and gives you results! i have seen a difference in my overall skin brightness, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation. great for oily and acne prone skin!

Ingredients to Fight PIH 💥
If you're like me than once you get a pimple you KNOW you're going to be dealing with the dark mark, or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), that it leaves behind. I've had acne since I was a young teen and have been dealing with fighting these stubborn marks for over 10 years now, here are the ingredients that I look for and how I use them! Vitamin C - an antioxidant, it works to help your skin regenerate and repair damaged cells. The number one goal when fighting pigmentation issues is to speed up the skin's natural regeneration process, so that the damaged cells are sloughed off and replaced with healthy cells. Vitamin C is also inhibits melanin production, so your skin will have a harder time making dark spots when you get a pimple. It will help to brighten the skin, without changing your natural pigmentation! We all about brightening here, not bleaching or lightening the skin! My favorite Vitamin C products are the BeautyStat COSMETICS - Universal C Skin Refiner , SKINCEUTICALS - Phloretin Cf and VICHY - LiftActiv Vitamin C Brightening Skin Corrector . All three have great percentages of Vitamin C an use L-ascorbic acid, it's the purest form of vitamin c. The BeautyStat Vitamin C is my favorite because it's the highest percentage, so it works quickly, and it is extremely stable. Some people are sensitive to vitamin C and should use lower percentages or less pure forms! I only use Vitamin C in my morning routine as some of the products in the night routine don't play nice with it! It also can further protect the skin from UV rays when paired with SPF. Niacinamide - a form of vitamin B3 and an antioxidant, like Vit C. So not only does it help to lighten the skin, but it also reduces skin inflammation and acne! What that means is it helps to fight the cause of PIH while also fighting the effect. It improves the skin's barrier function for overall healthier skin! I use the PETER THOMAS ROTH - Pro Strength Niacinamide Discoloration Treatment it's a powerhouse treatment that combines niacinamide with other skin lightening ingredients - tranexamic acid, kojic acid, alpha arbutin and pentapeptide. I use this treatment at night in conjunction with my tretinoin treatment. Niacinamide and tretinoin are a match made in heaven and are both absolutely necessary in my PIH fighting routine. Niacinamide can help to alleviate the side effects of retinoids. Retinoids - a derivative of vitamin A, it's a key nutrient for cell turnover! It will brighten the skin, reduce acne, and increase collagen production. Not only is a game changer for fighting PIH, but also for anti-aging and acne. There are different types of retinoid - retinol, tretinoin, Retin A and adapalene are all different types. Some are much higher strength and require a prescription! I use a prescription strength retinoid, it is apart of my Curology prescription and uses tretinoin.
So when I first heard of this, I was like why the hell would that on my face? 🤣 Like umm.. this is weird. COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence But I kept an open mind and I have no regrets. Snail mucin benefits; > Prevents and reduces existing scarring > Improves collagen production > Improves skin hydration > Reduces premature aging due to UV exposure So when I applied it, it felt really slimy at first but when you begin to rub it in.. it feels sooooo luxurious and very light. My skin also looked hydrated and plump! I seen a significant improvement in my dark spots & my skin overall! Oh! & and it didn’t break my sensitive skin out!

Broke me out in painful whiteheads
I got this trial size as a 100 point reward with a purchase at Sephora. I was hoping it will help with some sunspots and an acne scar on my face. I followed the directions by applying a thin layer to cleansed skin. I thought it was weird to not spot treat but did it anyway. Welp, I broke out into painful acne all over my face. Some were red and under the skin but a few were nasty white heads. The whiteheads hurt so I stopped using this and just put up. Since I stopped using it and acne healed up; I went back to my cica sleeping mask and now my skin is pretty much back to normal. I wasn’t able to use it more than 3 times so I’m not sure if it helps fade dark spots but it’s not worth getting painful acne on my face. I am thinking of trying it on my body where I have scars but still nervous if it will cause me to break out. I don’t recommend using this on your face if you are acne prone at all. My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
