POTENTIAL CAUSES OF ACNE IN EACH FACIAL ZONE
POTENTIAL CAUSES OF ACNE IN EACH FACIAL ZONE
So you’re probably thinking.. why does this girl have numbers all over her face? Well I’m showing you the difference facial zones! They are isolated to show you the potential causes of why you’re breaking out in each zone of the face. There are many causes of acne having internal and external triggers. I am going to mainly share the external causes as I am not a dr, and cannot give medical advice or tell you something is wrong internally. If you feel that your acne isn’t going away from topical products, then I recommend seeing either a dermatologist or an integrative medicine dr. Integrative medicine drs have changed my skin because they found the route cause of my acne and diagnosed me with SIBO. I will be sharing more about my SIBO and internal cause of my acne on my next post! This post is going to be mainly about external triggers. With that being said, let’s discuss the potential external causes of break outs/acne in each facial zone! Zone 1-improper removal of haircare, using comedogenic hair care products, lack of sleep and stress. Zone 2-Tweezing hair in the wrong direction causing ingrown hairs that turn into breakouts, or not cleaning your glasses or sunglasses and the makeup or bacteria clogs your pores and breaks you out. Zone 3-Milia is extremely common in this zone from using too thick or rich products under the delicate and thin eye area. Zone 4-gut issues/inflammation (like me🙂), dirt from your cell phone, dirty makeup brushes, or a dirty pillow case. Zone 5-Comedones (black heads) from excess oil production and accumulation of dead skin cells, or clogged hair follicles on the upper lip. Also from improper tweezing or waxing on the upper lip as well. Zone 6-hormonal imbalance (extremely common for adult acne), menstrual cycle, or birth control. All of these have to do with your hormone fluctuating. Can also be causing by resting dirty hands on your jawline. Zone 7-Resting hands on your chin (very common for teens in school), stress, hormone imbalance, menstrual cycle or hormonal issues. Zone 8-Fragrance irritation (perfume or cologne), insufficient sunscreen protection, or hormone imbalance as well. Very common for those with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Zone 9-Not rinsing out shampoo that gets in your ears, smokers cause tons of blackheads to form in your ears, and from dirty cell phones. Knowing the causes of breakouts can help you change your habits to clear them faster! This is not a guarantee for everyone, just very common triggers. Everyone’s skin is different! There are also so much information from Chinese medicine that show the internal causes of acne on all facial zones called skin mapping! If you’re interested I highly recommend researching it because it’s fascinating. Remember, your skin is the only external organ you have so it shows everything that is going on internally. Let me know if you can relate to any of these triggers! I know I can 😁

Retinol use for beginners from an Esthetician!
Retinol use for beginners from an Esthetician!
If you’re ever wondering how to start using retinol, this is for you! I want to start off by saying that if you’re interested in using retinol you must wear sunscreen daily. If you know you’re never going to wear it PLEASE do not use retinol. With that being said, let’s start off by explaining what retinol is and what it does for you! Retinol is Vitamin A! There are many types of retinol, like retinoids, retinol esters, etc. These are all derivatives of Vitamin A, and are more gentle and less potent versions of pure retinol. Retinol helps speed up our cell turn over rate in our skin. What that means, is that it will help you shed your dead skin cells faster to reveal new skin that’s brighter, smoother and healthier! As we get older, our “cell turnover rate” (CTR) slows down. So we use products like retinol to keep speeding it up so we can stay younger longer! Most people know retinol for treating fine lines and wrinkles, but it’s actually incredible for treating acne and acne scars! This is what I personally use it for. Retinol is strong and acts as an exfoliant so you must be careful with what products you’re using along with it in your regimen. Don’t layer or mix Vit C and retinol as they don’t like each other! Retinol should ONLY be applied at nighttime never in the morning. It makes you photosensitive which is a term to describe sensitivity to the sun. Most people experience some purging in acne, peeling/dryness, redness/irritation, and burning sensations when using a high dose of retinol without buffering it properly. If you use my buffering method properly you will not experience that at all! Now that you understand what you’re putting on your skin, I will explain how to use it! You shouldn’t start retinol by just applying it straight onto your skin without ever using it before. Your skin has to adjust to this new product and should be incorporated gently and slowly. It takes a month for your skin to adjust. You want to buffer your retinol with a gentle moisturizer. Nothing with actives like exfoliants (AHAs or BHAs)! Retinol goes after serums and before moisturizer in your routine! Week 1: use your retinol maximum 2x weekly. Start with one pea size amount of retinol and buffer it with 3 parts of moisturizer! Mix & apply to your skin! Week 2: use your retinol maximum 3x weekly. You’re going to do equal parts retinol and moisturizer. 2 parts retinol and 2 parts moisturizer. Mix & apply to your skin! Week 3: use your retinol maximum 3x weekly. Use 3 parts retinol (equal to a pea size) and 1 part moisturizer. Mix & apply to your skin! Week 4: use your retinol maximum 4x weekly. Apply a pea size amount of retinol directly onto your skin! Then apply your moisturizer directly on top of the retinol! If your skin cant handle retinol alone then stick to the buffering method forever! It will be just as effective as applying it alone! This method will minimize purging and keep your barrier healthy! Hope this helped! ❤️COSRX - Propolis Light Cream

#L’Oréal - True Match Lumi Glotion Natural Enhancer “Light”[products]#[FiveStars] I discovered this product years ago, and back then I used to like my skin matte. I neglected this product and it ended up in the bottom of my makeup drawer. When I started to struggle with severe cystic acne I finally realized how much I wanted to achieve that “celebrity glow”, and I was over all the matte skin. I have tons of skincare oils that will do the job, but I wanted something I could use when I wanted to wear makeup or without. When I picked it up in my drawer it was so old I had to repurchase a new one to give it a fair shot lol. When I tried it on my skin looked SOOOO good! It was so natural and looked like it was just my skin, no glitter or metallic finishes. This “Glotion” is seriously one of the best products I’ve tried from the drugstore. This is a product you can use either alone over your moisturizer and head out the door, or you can use it with your makeup! I love to use it under or mixed into my foundation for an extra glow, or just apply it on the high points of my face for a beautiful radiance! This product is for all skin types, and it’s great for those who don’t like a powder highlight or something that looks like you can see it from outer space! Don’t get me wrong.. I’m all about that life too, but sometimes I love to see my skin look naturally beautiful. I will always preach to everyone that you’ll never feel better about your skin then when you see it glow. This product contains glycerin which is an amazing humectant to help retain and bind moisture into the skin, along with shes butter to moisturize. Is this going to change your skin and clear your acne? No absolutely not. This isn’t a skincare product. BUT, it will be a great running out the door product to give you a glow or add some liquid highlight to your daily makeup routine. It’s starting to get cold which means our skin will get drier. But that does NOT mean our skin can’t look fresh and glowy all year round! Give this product a try if you already haven’t, and let me know what you think! Tell me what your favorite glowy product is from the drugstore I would LOVE to hear!!
