Ways that you might be harming your skin!😨
Ways that you might be harming your skin!😨
When I was little, my parents knew little about skincare so they didn’t have much wisdom to offer. I had to do the research alone and through trial and error is how I developed a skincare routine that works for me. I have made a few skincare mistakes in the past that really damaged my skin, which I hope to bring to your attention today so that you don’t have to suffer the same fate as me. Mistake one: I have very oily and acne-prone skin. I know that sebum build-up mixed with dead skin cells is what causes breakouts on the skin so I mistakenly thought that exfoliating as frequently as possible is the solution to reduce the pimples. To a certain extent, that is true because there will be fewer dead skin cells on the face. However, exfoliating too often, especially using a physical exfoliant, can really damage the skin’s barrier, causing the skin to be irritable and more prone to acne. I noticed that my face would always be red and every little thing seems to trigger my skin. My face would become sensitive and have reactions to skincare products that were fine to my face before. My face would feel extremely dry, but my face is still very oily and my breakouts did not reduce. At first, I was confused because the exfoliate that I was using is a very famous product, known for its effectiveness and mildness. It is the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant ($59).dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator. It is a rice-based white powder form and turns into foam upon contact with water. It feels very gentle on the face. My skin immediately feels smoother and looks brighter. Later I found out that over-exfoliating the skin will cause an imbalance in the skin, causing the skin to produce more oils because it is dried out. Moreover, physical exfoliates are rough on the skin, which is why too much use of it would harm the skin’s barrier and its ability to repair itself. I have learned to use it only once a week during summer times when oil production is higher and once every two weeks to a month during winter when my skin produces less oil. My skin felt a lot stronger now, and with the correct use of exfoliates, my skin texture has improved, my skin looks clearer and smoother than before.

Why The Sun Is The Skin’s Greatest Enemy🌞
Why The Sun Is The Skin’s Greatest Enemy🌞
I cannot stress enough about the importance of protecting the skin from sunlight at all times. UV Rays are the biggest cause of aging, they accelerate the rate at which we form wrinkles and fine lines. It also causes hyperpigmentation and slows down healing time for pimples. I started putting on sunscreen every day a few years ago, even during cloudy days and when I’m indoors because UV rays will somehow manage to find a way to creep through. After a few weeks, I already noticed a significant improvement in my skin’s condition. My breakouts healed faster and left fewer scars on my face, and most importantly, the hyperpigmentation is reduced, my skin tone is more even.  Wearing sunscreen becomes especially important when you are using active ingredients in your skincare routines such as vitamin c and chemical exfoliants like salicylic acid because they aid in cell turnover, which makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight and prone to sunburns. As I become older, I am using more of those products that leave my skin extremely vulnerable. My skin would often become irritable and red if I am exposed to sunlight for a long time, but I realized that this situation would be mitigated if I pack sunscreen onto my face. There are two main types of sunscreens: physical and chemical. Physical sunscreen, also called mineral sunscreen, sits on top of the skin. Most physical sunscreens leave a white or tinted residue on the skin. The benefits include:  helps protect against UVA and UVB rays  protects as soon as it's applied is generally comfortable for all skin types and conditions Chemical sunscreens use ingredients that absorb into the skin and transform UV rays into heat. This type of sunscreen tends to be popular because it feels light and looks unnoticeable. Like physical sunscreens, chemical sunscreen helps protect against UVA and UVB rays but needs time to absorb - 15-30 minutes - before exposing skin to daylight. It tends to be more water- and sweat-resistant. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Lotion $9 Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 55 I like this sunscreen because it is suitable for oily skin. It is lightweight and leaves a clean finish on the face. In the past, I have suffered breakouts from other sunscreens because they were too heavy and oily, which clogged my pores. Another reason I enjoy this product is that it is water-resistant, which means that it is very long-lasting against my oily skin. It protects my skin from the sun well and does not leave any white cast.

I Use These To Slow Down Time and Signs of Aging👍
I Use These To Slow Down Time and Signs of Aging👍
Aging is inevitable, and I realized that as I step into my mid-20s, I can no longer take my youth for granted. Of all the places on your body, your face can truly show your age if you don’t take steps to keep your skin healthy. Fortunately, with my oily skin, I do not have many wrinkles on my face or under my eyes yet, but I started to notice smile lines and growing dark eye circles, which is a sign of aging. This shows that simply keeping the skin hydrated and following my current skincare routine is not enough. I started to turn towards products that are rich in probiotic fractions that act on the skin’s microbiome.  With age, the skin’s key recovery functions become altered, and its natural ability to self-defend decreases. The microbiome is a beneficial living ecosystem of microbes (microorganisms), which is an integral part of your skin's surface, and its balance is essential to the skin's health.  Lancôme Advanced Genifique Anti-Aging Face Serum $105 / 30ml LANCÔME - Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum This is currently my go-to magic serum for my daily skincare routine. It claims to be formulated with a patent-pending complex of 7 pre and probiotic fractions, specifically selected and transformed, delivering essential resources to the skin and its microbiome. After only one bottle, aging skin will look visibly rejuvenated. Its effect on my skin is that my complexion immediately brightens up the next day and there’s a more radiant and youthful glow on my skin. After emptying one bottle, I found that the appearance of my smile lines did decrease. The texture of this serum is really thin and watery, which is perfect for oily skin. It gets absorbed quickly and leaves my skin feeling nourished without being too sticky or heavy. I also love the scent, which is quite subtle and sweet.  This serum is enriched with millions of probiotic fractions, including Yeast-& Bifidus-Extracts, that helps to strengthen the skin’s barrier and improve the skin’s texture, radiance, elasticity, and firmness. The probiotic fractions in this formula include beneficial properties such as reducing inflammation, strengthening the skin's barrier and resistance against environmental aggressors, reducing dryness, and acts as a moisturizer and antimicrobial.  Lancôme Advanced Genifique Anti-Aging Eye Cream $67 / 15ml LANCÔME - Advanced Génifique Eye Cream I use this eye cream together with the anti-aging face serum as part of my anti-aging skincare routine. The texture of this eye cream is lightweight and gel-like and gets absorbed easily so that it is not a burden to my eyes. My under eyes feel moisturized after using this product and they brighten up the next day. My skin also looks plumper and more youthful. It is formulated with Bifidus extract, which supports the skin’s moisture barrier, Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Glucoside), which helps brighten up the under eye, and Lactobacillus Ferment, which is great for decreasing fine lines and wrinkles.

Blushes That Give You Life
Blushes That Give You Life
Blush is an inseparable part of my daily makeup routine because it immediately brightens up my dull skin and adds life to my entire face. I can skip eye makeup but never blush. I love to use blushes as a final touch to the face that sets the whole mood of the makeup look. Blush One: Maybelline Face Studio Master Hi-Light Blush #20 PINK ROSE   I tend to have very dull skin tone because I always stay up late. As a result, I like to reach for blushes that are in highly saturated pink tones with gold shimmers so that the colours would actually show up and give me a healthy glow. I find myself always reaching for this blush for a cute everyday look because it just complements my neutral skin tone perfectly by adding a lovely and radiant pink flush to my cheeks.  This blush encompasses a variety of different pink shades and white shimmer, and I like to take a big fluffy brush that blends all the colours into one and put it on my cheeks. I would avoid putting the blush close to the eye bag area because it would highlight the dark circles and end up making myself look even more dull and tired. Since this blush is powder based, it leaves my skin with a soft and matte finish that has a blurring effect. The white shimmers gave my skin a healthy glow which I absolutely love! I also love the packaging. It is very convenient because it has a mirror and brush in the bottom compartment. I love this blush specifically because it is easy to build up and blend, and I love the marshmallow finish that it gives. Blush Two: Benefit Dandelion Brightening Finishing Powder   This blush is such a classic product because it looks good on anyone, and it is one of my favourite blushes. When I’m feeling lazy but still want to look cute, I didn’t even need to put on eye makeup, putting this blush alone on my cheeks is enough to add liveliness to my face. It gives me a peachy baby pink glow onto my dull skin, which I find so cute! This shade goes well with any type of makeup look because it glows up the face softly without overpowering other colours on the face. It does not have a very strong colour payoff so it is beginner-friendly, and easy to naturally build up the colours.

Best Lipsticks for Dry Lips
Best Lipsticks for Dry Lips
I remember there was a time when I didn’t take care of my lips so they were always dry and chapped. Putting on lipsticks would further dry out my lips and the finishing look wasn’t even pretty! The application would often be very uneven, all the pigments would stick to the dead skin, and depending on the lipstick’s texture, the lines on my lips were often emphasised. Then I came across the two lipsticks from YSL’s Vernis A Levres and Rouge Volupte Shine collections that I will be sharing today, and they soon became my favourite lipsticks when my lip condition is bad and dry. Lipstick One: Yves Saint Laurent Vernis A Levres #12 Corail Acrylic A$59 It smells like strawberry and has a lightweight texture. It feels very comfortable and won’t dry out the lips even if I wear it for the whole day. The finish of this product is a glossy shine, almost like a glass film on the surface of the lips. The colour payoff is vivid, and it darkens a bit after a few minutes after application. The product is very buildable, the more I layer it on, the glossier it looks and the richer the colour looks. It is actually in a long-wearing formula of a stain so after I drink water or have a meal, some of the colour still stays on the lips, which is very convenient when I don’t have much opportunity to reapply or need to stay out all day. I love glossy lips because it gives me a plumping effect and makes me look youthful and radiant. The coral pink shade helps too. I would definitely repurchase this product in the future and recommend it to people with neutral or cold skin tone. This shade brightens up my complexion and brings life to my face. Lipstick Two: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine #46 Orange Perfecto A$59 I love Ysl lipsticks because they are perfect moisturising lipsticks for dry lips. This product does not emphasise the cracks on the lips nor apply unevenly when there is dead skin on the lips. This lipstick feels very comfortable, moisturising and lightweight. It is less sticky than the other one, but has a similar shiny finish. It smells like peach and it is in a creamy, cocooning texture. The colour payoff is also very high, and it is in a blood orange shade. This shade is more friendly towards people with warm tones. I love the packaging of this product because it is wrapped in gold, giving off a luxurious feel. It doesn’t last as long as the other one, but feels more hydrating. This lipstick is enriched with six sensorial oils, which melts into the lips providing instant high shine of colour, smoothness and all-day comfort. With hyaluronic acid and emollients, this hydrating lipstick can help condition and nourish the lips for ultimate hydration and comfort.

You MUST Buy These At Sephora!👍👍👍
You MUST Buy These At Sephora!👍👍👍
I love Sephora! This is because I have bought so many great beauty products from this place. Sephora never disappoints. Nowadays whenever I want to buy beauty products, Sephora is the first place that comes to mind. Today I’ll be sharing just a few of the many products that I absolutely love from Sephora and wish everyone to give them a try! My Skin: My skin is very oily and dull, probably because I always stay up late and like to eat oily food. I also have enlarged pores that I wish to be gone and uneven skin texture. My face is always puffy in the morning to the point that my face shape and eyelids have completely disappeared. Product One: Skin Gym Rose Quartz Crystal Facial Roller A$53 SKIN GYM - Rose Quartz Crystal Facial Roller I have been using this facial roller every day since I got it from Sephora. Before I used it, I never thought that I needed it, but I immediately fell in love with it as soon as I used it on my face because of how nice it felt on my face. It has now become an inseparable part of my skincare routine. This face roller is made from rose quartz, a type of natural crystal. I heard that crystal healing has been used for centuries for smooth, youthful-looking skin.  I can feel that my skin condition has been improving after I have started using this face roller for a few weeks. This is because it helps to get the circulation of my face going and it is a very de-stressing tool. I like to use this face roller with either oils, serums, masks, or moisturizers to give myself a facial massage and to increase product absorption. I also recommend putting it in the fridge overnight for a more refreshing experience, and to help get rid of the puffiness. Even though some people might find this tool to be a bit pricey, I still think that it is a good investment and this tool can definitely stay useful for a long while. Product Two: Fresh Vitamin Nectar Antioxidant Face Mist ($36 / 100ml) fresh - Vitamin Nectar Antioxidant Face Mist I have tried many types of face mist in the past and I find myself always coming back for this product. I initially did not have a high expectation of this product because I have not heard much about this entire Vitamin line from Fresh. I was genuinely surprised by how good this product operates on my face. It leaves my skin hydrated and with a glowing radiance.  I especially love the scent, which smells like sweet citrus. The mist is very fine and sprays evenly throughout the face. It leaves a slightly sticky finish. The pricing is quite affordable because it is a huge bottle that can last me for a few months. I use it whenever I want to feel refreshed. It claims to protect the face from pollution, heat, and sweat so I also use it as a cooling primer before my makeup and as a hydrating pick-me-up throughout the day whenever my skin feels dry. It is enriched with vitamins C, E, and B5, which are great for brightening the complexion and hydrating the skin.  Product Three: Vitamin Nectar Glow Juice Antioxidant Face Serum ($40 / 15ml) fresh - Vitamin Nectar Glow Juice Antioxidant Face Serum Because I love the face mist from the same product line so much that I had to try this serum out as well. Like the face mist, the scent of this serum is equally amazing. Its texture is very watery and lightweight. The product spreads well across the face and gets absorbed quickly. Whenever I use this product, my skin would become very radiant, clear and soft the next day. It gives my skin a youthful glow and any fine lines and wrinkles become less visible. It contains coconut oil, vitamins C and E, and beta carotene that delivers instant hydration and antioxidant protection. The pricing is on the expensive end. I used up one bottle fairly quickly since I use it day and night. It took me less than two months to finish it. Nevertheless, the serum was very effective so I will repurchase and recommend it to my friends and family.
