My 3 Favourite Lipsticks
Lipsticks come in a huge variety, whether it be shades or textures, and I always have trouble choosing a favourite. However, as of lately, I’ve been loving and reaching towards these three lipsticks the most: Yves Saint Laurent Vernis À Lèvres Water Stain, Yves Saint Laurent Vernis A Levres Vinyl Cream Stain, and Sephora Collection Color Lip Last Lipstick. YSL Water Stain #610: This has been my favourite lipstick to use as the weather turns colder, and the leaves turns redder. This shade resembles a toned down, milk tea colour that matches perfectly with the autumn mood, so I have been using it daily. I love the texture of this lipstick because it is moisturizing, which has been helping my lips cope with the drying weather. What’s more surprising is that it is not heavy and sticky on the lips at all, unlike most glossy type lipsticks. Like its name, its finish is glossy but not overly tacky, just like your lips have been coated by a thin layer of water. However, due to its lightweight texture, it is not very long lasting and the colour transfers easily onto other objects. YSL Vinyl Cream Stain #416: I also love to use this product recently because of its sophisticated, rotten tomato shade that really compliments my skin tone (neutral). I tend to use it for more special occasions where I want to go for a more dramatic look. Similar to the Water Stain, it also gives a glossy finish, which I adore lately because it makes the lips look plump and healthy. However, it does feel heavier on the lips, but it is the most long lasting out of the three lipsticks because it stains the lips. I love the application because it glides on easily, blending smoothly onto the lips. Both YSL lipsticks smell like sweet candy, which is definitely a plus for me. Sephora Collection Color Lip Last Lipstick: Last but not least, this lipstick also made it into my top 3 list because I was pleasantly surprised by its texture and colour payoff. It feels like butter and glides right onto the lips. Also, it has amazing colour payoff. Normally, I only need to dab a little onto the lips, and one swipe is enough to deepen the colour. I love to use this when I want matte lips for a daily look, because of its beautiful dried rose shade, not to mention it also smells like sweet candy, which lightens my mood whenever I use it!

My 3 Favourite Eyeshadows
Collecting makeup truly brings me joy, and of the eyeshadows that I have played with throughout the years, I have narrowed my favorites down to these three eyeshadows: Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow, Clinique Shadow Trio, and Nars Eyeshadow Duo. Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter #Perlina: I cannot live without glitter eyeshadows because I love fancy and lively eye makeup. I find that Stila’s liquid eyeshadow is by far one of the superior glitter eyeshadows that I have tried. Its shade and texture just work so well for me. This eyeshadow is in a white translucent color that encompasses different shades of glitter, such as blue, yellow and pink, which really adds dimension. Dotting this onto eyelids really adds an extra spark and specialness to the whole look. Because of its liquid texture, it stays on the eyes better than powder eyeshadows. I literally cannot find one single bad thing about this product! Clinique Shadow Trio #01 sunset glow, 06 daybreak, AA French vanilla: This eyeshadow trio has all the most basic yet must have colors, including a white beige color, white shimmer and light brown color, which is perfect for an everyday occasion in my opinion. Because it is so compact and the colors compliment each other well, I always carry it in my purse and bring it to travels with me. The colors are very neutral and enhance my eyes naturally, and the texture feels very smooth and creamy. Even though the color payoff isn’t very high, but it allows me to achieve a natural look, and it is easy to build up. Therefore, I still highly recommend this product. Nars Eyeshadow Duo #Kuala Lumpur: Its combination of colors suits my taste, which consists of a nude pink shade with gold shimmers and a dark burgundy shade also with gold shimmers. I find that gold shimmers complete my neutral skin tone really, even if the base colors are more suited for cool skin tones. These two eyeshadows give me a rosy and deep eye look, which I absolutely love! I often use this for a more special occasion where I want my eyes to stand out. The color payoff is really high and applies smoothly.

Lipsticks: Solid (Creamy) vs. Liquid (Mousse)
Lipsticks come in different textures that can help you achieve different looks. With similar shades, I am still able to switch up the mood by using either a creamy lipstick or a mousse type, depending on my lips’ condition and the occasion. Solid Lipstick: Estée Lauder Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick #410 Dynamic For a daily and effortless look, I tend to gravitate towards this product because it has an MLBB shade that complements my neutral skin tone really well. It naturally brightens up my face without attracting too much attention to my lips, so I like to use it when I want to emphasize my eye makeup or when I’m feeling lazy and want to go out with a bare face. This lipstick feels very moisturizing and creamy without being too heavy and oily. It glides right onto the lips, and the color payoff is moderate, which helps me to achieve that natural look. However, because of its formula, it is not very long lasting. Nevertheless, it doesn’t really bother me because I find it easier to retouch the lip colors with a solid lipstick as they are easier to blend. Liquid Lipstick: Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colour #196 Precieux This product is also in an MLBB shade that is more of a dried rose color with gold shimmers. What is different about this product compared to the Estee Lauder lipstick is that it is in a liquid, mousse form. This gives me a really soft and airy matte finish without drying my lips out, which I absolutely adore. What is more amazing is that it doesn’t emphasize the wrinkles and cracks in my lips, unlike most of the matte lipsticks on the market! This lipstick tends to make me look more mature given my neutral skin tone, which I like when I want to go for a sophisticated look. Because of its special texture and finish, I prefer this one over the solid lipstick.

Blushes: Powder vs. Stick Type
Powder Blush: Benefit Dandelion Brightening Finishing Powder This powder blush is one of my favorites, holy grail items of my makeup collection. Sometimes, when I’m feeling lazy but still want to look cute, I didn’t even need to put on eye makeup, putting this blush alone on my cheeks is enough to add liveliness to my face. It adds a peachy pink glow onto my neutral toned skin, which I absolutely love, and this color goes well with almost any type of makeup look because it glows up the face softly without overpowering other colors on the face. As a powder blush, it does not have a super strong color payoff, which is very beginner-friendly, so it is easy to build up the colors naturally. Stick Type: NARS The Multiple #Orgasm Nars’ blush in Orgasm is probably one of the most famous blushes on the market because of its beautiful shade. I chose the stick type because I was intrigued by its texture. When my skin is in bad condition, I find that powder blushes tend to highlight the rough textures of my face or gets patchy, but this product feels very lightweight on the skin and moisturizing at the same time. It gives my face a sheer touch of coral pink with gold shimmers as if my cheeks are rosy from within. However, because you need to rub this onto the skin to blend in color, it might ruin the base makeup. It also doesn’t last very long. Overall, I prefer Benefit’s Danelion over Orgasm because I like the easy application and soft finish of powder blushes.

Lipsticks: liquid vs. solid
Not only do lipsticks come in different shades, they also come in different textures, which can result in very different finishes or sense of experience. Liquid lipstick: NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment #Rock with you This is one of my favourite lipsticks to use during the winter season and for creating Ombre lips because it is in a luscious dark berry colour that really brings a sense of mysteriousness and specialness to the look. The finish is very matte, and can be quite drying for the lips, so it is important to prep your lips with lip balm well before applying. Because it is a liquid formula, it tints the lips and lasts a very long period throughout the day. It even stays on after I ate my meals. Solid lipstick: MAC Matte Lipstick #Diva One thing I prefer solid lipsticks over liquid ones is that it is easier for touch-ups when you are outside. Most of the times I didn’t even need a mirror to apply it, but with liquid lipsticks, I have to be very meticulous with the application so that the colour will apply evenly across my lips and will not go over the lip lines. This lipstick is in a very similar shade as the NARS lipstick, but less purple, and complements my neutral skin tone equally well. It also leaves a matte finish but is less drying than the liquid lipstick and consequently it lacks in staying power. Overall, I still prefer this product over NARS because I get the same finish look while my lips are more comfortable with this product and I can reapply more easily.

Blushes: liquid or powder?
I love to utilize blushes as a final touch to the face that accentuates the whole mood of the makeup. They come in different textures and consistencies, which, of course, leads to different looks and styles. Liquid blush: Benefit Posietint Cheek & Lip Stain benefit - Benefit Tinted Cheek & Lip Stain What I love about liquid blushes the most is that they allow me to achieve a really natural finish that looks like I am blushing from within, especially paired with this blush’s poppy-pink shade. This product feels really light on the skin, almost non-existent. It stains the cheek, which I like and hate at the same time. What I like about it is that it stays on the cheeks longer than powder blushes, but it is harder to blend because once you apply it onto the cheeks, the colour stays. Therefore, it requires a more careful application. Another downside is that liquid blushes can ruin the base makeup more easily because you have to rub and blend the colour in. Powder blush: Maybelline Face Studio Master Hi-Light Blush #20 PINK ROSE I find myself always reaching for this blush for a cute everyday look because it just complements my neutral skin tone perfectly by adding a lovely and radiant pink flush to my cheeks! This blush has different shades of pink and a white simmer that acts as highlighter embedded together as one blush to brighten up the complexion naturally. Because it is in a powder form, it leaves my skin with a really soft finish that almost has a blurring effect, and the highlighter really gives the skin a healthy glow which I love! The packaging is also very useful because it includes a mirror and brush in the bottom compartment. I prefer this over the liquid blush because it is easier to build up and blend, and I love the marshmallow finish that only powder blushes can give.

Did I find the best primer dupe? 🤔
I think I did 😳 Hear me out, I love the VDL - Lumilayer Primer Fresh but, it’s esspensive! I love the finish it leaves on the skin, it’s a beautiful hydrating primer that looks gorgeous on many different skin tones but can definitely look too shimmery if you accidentally apply too much. I recently found the essence - Fresh & Fit Awake Primer and it is AMAZING. It’s definitely a little bit thicker than the VDL primer, but it’s more luminous rather than shimmery and just as the VDL can be worn with or without makeup. As you can see in the last slide they look pretty similar when swatched side to side! The VDL primer is $32 for 1.01 oz and the Essence primer is $5.99, so price wise I think we have a clear winner. Have you tried either of these primers? :)
