skincare & makeup reviews from just a regular 🇦🇺 👩🏻
What a disappointment! 💧🚱💦🚫
I had such high hopes for these products. All had decent reviews but none left me with the hydration I was hoping for. TONYMOLY - The Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Moisture Cream Firstly, I liked the texture of this cream. It was I had hoped for from a “watery” cream but it failed to really absorb into my skin and I felt like it just uncomfortably sat on top. It would leave me with a tight feeling rather than the supple hydrated feeling I get from other water/gel creams. The smell is a little unusual to but if my skin loved the cream I could look past that. I had this next to Neutrogena’s hydroboost in my bathroom and have multiple disappointments I just stopped reaching for it. #Sukin - Rehydrating Gel Cream[products]#[TwoStars] I love me an affordable Australian brand and when I saw this Hydrating range I was so excited to try it. But like The Chok Chok Watery Moisture Cream, it left my face feeling tight and by midday like I hadn’t moisturised at all. This one also had a unique smell but all of Sukin products have a very earthy kind of smell. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I literally felt like this serum did nothing. It became an added step that I just don’t need.

I took the cold 🥶 plunge! And 💙 the results
OLE HENRIKSEN - Cold Plunge Pore Mask I like to judge face masks by the way my skin feels and looks after I use it. This mask definitely had the ability, with its cooling sensation, to be a bit gimmicky. But it is actually a really great mask and I love it! My skin feels so great after. It leaves you with a firm, not tight and refreshed feeling after. It promises to reduce the look of pores, deeply purify pores and mattify oil controls for up to 8 hours. What to expect: 🧤 A super blue-green colour, which for some reason got me really excited. The pics attached don’t do it justice. 🧊 A cooling sensation on your skin as the mask dries down, even though it’s a clay mask don’t expect it to get really dry and cakey. It will be dry to touch but you’ll still have movement in your face. I loved this 🧼 It’s supposed to lather and come off easily. I’ve tried doing this with different levels of thickness but I feel like lather is the wrong word. I was expecting it to sud up. In the end, it was just easier to wet and rub of with a face cloth because I ended up with blue stuff all over the skin. I don’t really have anything bad to say about this so I’m just going to go ahead and give it 💙

Overhyped or great product?!? Bangn Body
BANGN BODY - Firming Lotion Face & Body Moisturiser I have been trialing this product now for a couple of months. The idea of a body and face lotion wasn’t appealing to me but it seemed to be getting good reviews everywhere on social media. So I followed the hype (don’t judge me, we all do it 😂). What to expect 📦 Fruity tropical scent Creamy and spreadable consistency A high retail price Things I loved 💛 The level of hydration it offered. I was skeptical that a lotion which worked for my body would suit my sometimes oily, combination skin but it did! I got a bit sunburnt on a trip and this lotion provided really nice relief as I was quite remote and couldn’t access any Aloe Vera or after sun cream. The packaging is great. I get the sense that I’m going to get every drop of product out Things that disappointed ⚠️ I definitely didn’t experience the ability to “say Cya to cellulite” or “so long to stretch marks” but let’s be honest, I don’t think that a cream has the ability to do that. Along the same lines, their marketing has definitely the array of gorgeous unattainable bodies. Which, in my opinion, sets an unrealistic view that this cream will change your body. To their credit there are a few plus size models scattered far and few between on their Insta posts. I only gave it 3 stars because I did like the product and probably will consider re-buying it but it is pretty expensive for what it is (they do some bundles though that will save you money). It’s a great moisturiser but won’t take away your cellulite. I love the idea of its dual purpose for body and face, if you have particularly oily skin, stick to using this on your face just at night.

Empties! Old faithful products I trust
These two products have been in my routine for a number of years now. I trust them and have seen my skin just lap them up. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I got onto this cult fave back in 2017 and haven’t looked back. There are a few The ordinary products I’ve tried but haven’t felt the urge to repurchase. Or I do but not as frequently as this little guy. If you’ve never used this before, here’s what to expect: it is a water based serum with an almost sticky consistency. Think salad dressing. It doesn’t really have a smell. I place a small pea sized amount on my hand and pat it into clean skin. I usually have to wash my hands after. I like to give it a minute to sink in before I apply the next step. I also use this in both my day and night routines. Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer I have combination skin which depending on the weather is pretty oily but sometimes I get surprised with a spell of dryness especially in the Australian winter. Before I found this moisturiser, I never bought the same one. I’d often just keep trying a new one every time I was done with a product. Things changed with this life saver. I love how it makes my skin feel hydrated. It’s very lightweight but does the job it’s supposed to. You don’t need much to cover your face and it will leave you looking and feeling wet but give it a second and it’ll just soak in. Its a very refreshing feeling. I’ve been tempted to splurge and buy some of those high end “water gel” moisturisers you see everywhere but honestly why switch when you’ve found something that works.

Purifying mask battle
I love a good mud/clay mask. Here’s my review of a few I’ve got in rotation at the moment. AHAVA - Purifying Mud Mask After floating in the Dead Sea on my trip to Israel and the amazing effect it had on my skin, I had high hopes for this mask. However, it’s doesn’t really have any of the same super powers and for the price I’d hoped to have baby soft skin after use. The directions say to leave the mask only for 2 mins. I’ve tried all different lengths of times and it doesn’t really change the outcome of using the product. In saying that it is a nice mask but I’ve used much better. I’ll finish my tube but won’t be repurchasing this one. DR ROEBUCK'S - ULURU When I first put this mask on my skin, it did start to burn/tingle a little but I pushed through and about 2 minutes later it was gone. If you put a thick layer on, it will take some time to dry down. Overall I like this mask, when I removed it my skin wasn’t tight and sucked if all moisture but looked clear and happy. Also I’d read reviews about this mask staining towels, I use cream/beige face towels to remove the product and it washed up fine in the machine. So don’t be too worried about that. SAND&SKY - Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask This instagram cult fave entered my life after a online lockdown shopping whim and it’s didn’t disappoint. It’ll leave your skin feeling lovely and smooth. However, it’s a pretty new mask to me and I found myself disappointed at the size of the jar for the price of the product. A few things to expect when using this product. Like a lot of masks with active ingredients, there is an initial tingling feeling which quickly subsided. The mask dries down very quickly. When I took my picture I was already at that awkward stage of masks when you can’t really smile without cracking it. I love how it gets down onto my pores straight away. If your skin is like mine then you’ll see little holes where your big pores are as it dries.

Brightening Serum with real results!! ❤️☀️🔥
SAND&SKY - Australian Emu Apple Dreamy Glow Drops Ok I don’t give 5 stars very often but I’m in love! This serum /oil really brightens my skin and gives it life. I feel like my skin is literally glowing. Within the second day of using it, I could see a difference. It’s what’s called a Bi-phase serum which is both a water serum and an oil. The product naturally separates and needs to be shaken before each use. The consistency is very watery but absorbs into the skin like a light oil. Here’s the notable ingredients in each phase. Water Phase 💦 Hyaluronic Acid complex 💦 Australian Glow Berries™ 💦 Vitamin C derivative 💦 Kakadu Plum Oil Phase 💧Jojoba oil 💧Almond oil 💧Olive Oils 💧Hemisqualane oil blend It sinks into the skin almost immediately. I feel like this bi-phase system is what locks all the active ingredients deep in the skin. Whatever it is, I’m feeling it. Great product, good clean brand too.

Dry Skin Moisturiser Review - ASPECT Phytostat ⭐
I received the aspect SKINCARE - Phytostat Moisturiser as a sample to try out for an everyday moisturiser. I categorise my skin as normal to dry and nearing the “mature” classification as I’ll be in my 30’s next year - so I’m always on the hunt for a good moisturiser. Particularly one that has a rich creamy feel, is super nourishing and can absorb pretty well so that I can easily use it morning (under makeup) and night. ☺️ The aspect SKINCARE - Phytostat Moisturiser has quite a good rep online so I was excited to try it out. It claims to be a luxe emollient cream - being very hydrating whilst fighting signs of ageing. Personally I don’t really care for anti ageing properties in a moisturiser as I use a 1% retinol in my everyday skin routine. What I really want from my moisturiser is hydration and lock in moisture. To the review... The Pro’s: ✔️ The packaging is really smart with the dispenser allowing the product to push out (see second photo) to avoid germ contamination and dry-out ✔️ Very creamy and feels luxe on the skin ✔️Absorbed easily and quickly ✔️ Very hydrating The Con’s: ✖️ The smell! I can’t stand the smell and honestly that’s why it looses a star for me. It smells like a yucky floral sunscreen. It’s really off-putting 💩 ✖️ For the price I feel like there’s better value options out there. I’m not someone who uses my face moisturiser sparingly as I work it into my neck and décolletage and at the price point of nearly $92 AUD for 50g it’s just not bang for buck So overall it’s a good moisturiser and I feel it does live up to its rep of being very hydrating. For me though - it’s the smell that I just can’t get past 🤢 and I have experienced better high priced moisturisers than this - so I’ll be holding onto my pennies and not purchasing a full size unfortunately. ☹️

I’ll Never Use Another Shampoo / Conditioner
Earlier today I was raving to my new friend about how much I am loving the new Sol De Janiero Shampoo & Conditioner, and it got me thinking - I need to tell the world how amazing these two products are! I’m no stranger to Sol’s products; I am constantly talking about how much I love the Cheirosa ‘62 scent - but you guys, the shampoo & conditioner really are amazing! I could sit here and bore you with all the fancy terminology and beneficial ingredients in both, but I rather tell you my real personal experience in my own words! 💭 First, a little background on my hair prior to using their products: I had somewhat fine, extremely frizzy and unruly, curly hair. I was also suffering from hair loss; my hair was constantly shedding and falling out. I would have to clean my hair brush at least every couple of days. I’ve been using both the shampoo and conditioner for two weeks, and there is such noticeable improvement with the health of my hair! My hair is so much more tamer naturally, appears straighter and so much more stronger! I actually find myself not caring so much about flat ironing or styling my hair; I’ve been enjoying my natural hair! And yes, my hair always smells amazing thanks to that delicious pistachio, caramel, vanilla scent known as Cheirosa ‘62! ☀️ SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Shampoo + Conditioner Set SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Shampoo SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Joia Strengthening + Smoothing Conditioner

❌Stop hair loss for medium density hair!!!
I have thick hair, but not as thick as it was when I was a teenager. Since I have serious hair loss due to the habit of staying up late, whenever my fingers ran through my hair, effortlessly the strands I touched were falling out. Now I only have medium density hair, I am not really satisfied with it. I am afraid that my hair will become thinner and thinner, which is terrible. So I just hope to grow more hair , trying to make up the problem of losing hair. I tend to throw a lot of products on my hair to see what works . What I use now isThe Ordinary - Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density. This concentrated formula is designed to support hair health so that it looks thicker, denser, fuller and healthier. What attract me is that this is for oily hair, which is suitable for my scalp. In addition, its ingredients includes many stimulants for hair growth and strengthening, including Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 and so on. The total concentration of these in the formula by weight is 21.15%. The formula is like pure water and is highly liquid, not greasy at all. Most hair products leave your hair feeling icky, sticky, oily, or dry. This does not, you could wear it day or night. After applying it, you also find that it add some volume to your hair. The method of application is simple and convenient. No need to wash hair, but you should ensure you scalp is clean. Apply a few drops on your scalp directly and then massage it with your fingers for a while. For me, this serum truly helps restore most of my hair lost, baby hairs can be seen in the forehead after several weeks. The less hair shedding make me pleasant. Do you like or hate it? Tell me your feeling!
