Tips & Tricks To Glowing Skin
One of my biggest skin issues is dullness. Aside from the complication that is combination skin, I really dislike how lackluster my complexion can be sometimes. It can be really noticeable in photos which is part of the reason why I’m not really fond of taking selfies. What really helped me achieve a nice glow is niacinamide and glycolic acid. I discovered this by searching for skincare guides online and trying out different products. Honestly, I was a bit scared to experiment at first but I was also really excited, especially when I started seeing the effects. Simply put, glycolic acid strips away all my dead skin, revealing the fresh skin underneath. Meanwhile, niacinamide gradually lightens my dark spots. This results in fresh, glowing skin. It’s an amazing combination that really made my skin change for the better. I’m using a total of five products for my ‘glowing skin’ routine: 1. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
Dull skin face creams
Dullness & uneven texture serums
Toners for dull skin
Niacinamide in skincare
The Ordinary products for dark spots

Good bye ingrown underarm hair!
I’ve always had sensitive skin and shaving is so irritating. I’ve struggled with ingrown hairs since I started removing hair from my body. Thanks to this app, I’ve read so many good things about using The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution on your body to help with ingrown hair so I gave it a try. I paired this solution with THE CHEMISTRY BRAND - Inhibitif Deodorant and it’s been life changing!! Less hair growth, less odor and bye bye ingrown hairs! It’s my dream team for underarms!!!
Not fungal acne safe 😞
The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution This product does contain Urea which helps fight fungal acne but it also contains Polysorbate 20 which triggers fungal acne ☹️ I didn’t notice any change while using this product but that’s probably because I’m prone to fungal acne breakouts 🤪

My P.M Skincare routine
It took me about a year to formulate and create a skin care routine that catered to my own skin perfectly. I must say, I have come a long way from using witch hazel and apricot scrubs and figured out what my skin needs. It’s amazing progress. Hopefully this year I will incorporate a retinol into my routine.
Overhyped products; didn’t see a difference
I’ve used these products consistently over the period of a couple months (not necessarily in combination with each other). I haven’t noticed a difference and realize I don’t particularly love the feel of serums and oils. Here’s my review of each product individually and one ordinary product that I do feel like makes a difference. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I was super excited to try and love this product and was mainly wanting help with blackheads on my nose. I haven’t noticed a difference even when using the product twice a day for a couple months. The product is very oily and it’s easy to get all over the bottle. Not a toner that can be used without a cotton pad The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I don’t love the textures of these products and am disappointed not seeing a difference after using consistently and over half the bottle is gone. dear, klairs - Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop This product is very oily. I want to include vitamin C in my skincare routine but just didn’t enjoy this particular one. e.l.f. - Happy Hydration Cream I love all of elf’s products and bought this thinking I would love it. It leaves a white cast and I don’t like the feel when I put this moisturizer on, because of this I have been using it just at night I order to not waste the product. Elf has much better products than this one for sure! One product I do like: The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I’ve started using this once a week and believe it is helping with my blackheads. It is drying and I have sensitive skin so if you’re like me I would suggest only once a week for 8 min and consider a hydrating mask afterwards.
Honest ordinary review
Let’s start with the The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution : so far this toner has worked amazing for my skin the only problem with this overall brand is if you have sensitive skin like me it will sting but it has changed my skin in the couple of days that I’ve been using it. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% : this product has definitely changed my skin so much and when I apply It to my sling it is instantly glowing !!! Although this does sting my skin as well and it also has a very sticky texture to it so I don’t recommend using it in the morning because I couldn’t imagine how your makeup would be able to apply on top of the The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% : I honestly noticed a tiny difference but nothing huge yet I feel like there is barely any product in the bottle I will continue to use and update you guys in the near future it also has the stingy feeling as well but I noticed that with all of the products and it’s probably because of my sensitive skin. Overall, this brand has not disappointed me yet and I will continue to use and update you guys on how my skin is turning out. I do recommend these products but keep in mind if you do have sensitive skin it will sting.

The Ordinary has changed my routine 😊
Ive always has decent skin but would get random breakouts. I also started breaking out when stressed and was having some dullness and dehydration! To jump in : The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution I really like this toning solution! It doesn’t dry me out and is actually quite moisturizing. It’s great if you experience irritation because the aloe vera in it really provides soothing properties for irritated skin. It helps with gentle exfoliation when I use it at night and I get the exfoliating cotton pads from Target and that helps add some extra penetration to my skin! My face has visibly gotten a more even texture. The only reason it has 4 instead of 5 stars is because you can only use it at night because it doesn’t react well to sun exposure. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I am in love with this peel! It visibly improves blemishes and has lightened my dark marks a bit! I love that it’s something I can do at home and still get my deep exfoliation I need. My skin feels and looks radiant. I will say start only using this once a week as it can sting a bit. After you feel you have adjusted you can up it to two times a week depending on how you need it! I’ve currently upgraded to two times a week. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 If you suffer from any sort of dryness this is for you! I’m combination skin but can get dry around my cheek area and just wanted overall more moisture. This is a God send. From the first day I used it my skin was so hydrated. Because Hyaluronic Acid absorbs so much in water this is best used on wet/damp skin. I use it after cleansing AM and PM. I put my moisturizer on directly after so that way more moisture is being sucked in to my skin. Definitely a game changer. The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane I wanted to love this product but I really just like it. For my skin it seems to make me feel too greasy. I use it as my step before my moisturizer and it was just ok. I hate to feel oily and this can make my skin feel that way if I use any more than one drop. Now I mix one drop maybe two in my moisturizer at night. It’s less overwhelming for my skin that way. Once I started using it that way it gave an extra boost of hydration to my nightly routine. All in All has really helped my skin! SIDE NOTE: All of these products are vegan and cruelty free!

Step 2: Toners 💚
Product 1: ALAFFIA - Everyday Coconut, Face Toner, Purely Coconut, Normal to Dry Skin So, after I cleanse, I tone. Is it necessary? Nah... but I personally like this step because this is the first product that comes into contact with your skin right after you cleanse! This product I found at Nugget (and also Sprouts). I’ll be honest, I thought shopping in a grocery store with organic products would lead me to better skincare products. I was really just trying to find something gentle (and cheap) enough to try one day, and I found this! Neem is the top ingredient. I had never heard of this ingredient in skincare until I stumbled upon this. Some benefits of neem include vitamin E and fatty acids (good for hydration and fighting wrinkles/boosting collagen), anti-inflammatory & anti-bacterial (good for acne), and it is also known to balance out melanin secretion (which helps lighten hyperpigmentation). I’d like to say this helped with my acne and dark spots, but, like I mentioned in my cleanser post, I use a concoction of thangs on my face that all help with that... so it’s hard to pinpoint any single item, ya feel?? How I use it: cleanse, pat dry my face, then I spritz this and allow it to air dry. I use this every AM and most PMs. Product 2: The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution ATTN: please read about AHAs before trying this product! This is a chemical exfoliant... the more harsh of the 3 I’ve learned about (lactic acid being more gentle and mandelic acid being even more gentle than both exfoliants). The reason why glycolic acid can be more harsh is due to the molecular size. Glycolic acid has a smaller molecular size which means it sinks deeper into the skin. Whilst the other 2 AHA’s have larger molecular sizes so that it doesn’t penetrate too deep into the skin making it a better option for those who have sensitive skin. These chemical exfoliants are used to help detach dead skin cells that may be sitting happily on your face and causing break outs. We love AHAs! It’s just a matter of finding which works for you. I’d recommend starting off with the mandelic acid OR pixi - Glow Tonic . I personally have never tried mandelic acid because I already knew my face could handle glycolic acid from using Pixi’s Glow Tonic. The difference between Pixi’s Glow Tonic and TO Glycolic Acid Toning Solution is 1. The amount of glycolic acid that’s in each solution and 2. Pixi’s Glow Tonic has more ingredients mixed in with the glycolic acid I’m assuming to make it more gentle. Fair warning, Pixi’s Glow Tonic has fragrance in it. How I use it: Okay sooooo, I use this when my skin asks me to. Sounds weird, but y’all know what I mean right? Lol. Liiike, if I feel a break out coming on or if I just feel like my skin needs a little extra treatment, I’ll use this in my PM routine after I cleanse. For me, the next morning, I’ll notice a difference. Anyone else use these products? 😊 Xoxo Xenia
ALAFFIA- Everyday Coconut, Face Toner, Purely Coconut, Normal to Dry Skin
My favorite picks for Beginners skincare, these are perfect Actives for SENSITIVE skin! I love @deciem 🙌✨ It's the first brand that made me fall in love with skincare!! This skincare routine will change your skin game in just a week! My GO-TOs of all time! For detailed review : The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - Niacinamide (vitamin B3) reduces the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion. A high 10 percent concentration of this vitamin is supported in the formula by zinc PCA to balance visible aspects of sebum activity. My thoughts: It is the best product and ingredient so far. It is a staple in my routine since a long time now. I don't remember ever thinking of not using this one. Love how it brightens and tightens my skin. My pores miraculously get less visible and it creates that shield of glow on skin. I simply love it. It is safe to use, non-irritating and effective even for sensitive skin types (Although some people find Niacinamide irritating, always take a patch test if you’re a beginner ) it tingles a tiny bit in certain areas of face when applied but that tingling sensation goes away in few moments. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution - It has helped me get that even, smooth bright looking skin in over 3 months or less. I have been talking about chemical exfoliation and I have always liked it for my skin type (Combination - Sensitive) This Toning solution is the first one my skin accepted in a good way! Having a sensitive skin does trouble you sometimes but with this one, my skin doesn’t react. It is an exfoliating toning solution with seven percent glycolic acid, amino acids, aloe vera, ginseng, and tasmanian pepperberry. I can never go back to not using this one because of the fact that it improved my skin from damaged to glowing 🌟 The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG - This stuff is magical! ✨If you have dark circles and fine lines, apply this and you'll see them fading in just one week. I swear by this product! 💕 It has 5% Caffeine that helps in increasing blood flow, this helps in decongesting broken capillaries under eyes! This has reduced my dark circles dramatically!

This diminished my dark spots
For years I had acne and I constantly picked my face so bad that it left scarring, dark spots and uneven skin tone. I've tried several different products, methods and regimens and nothing seemed to be working until I found the right regimen. I started using these products back in December and not only has it diminished my dark spots but it has made my face brighter, even and overall just healthier. I use the glow tonic after cleansing, the lactic acid , b oil then the suspension. I do however alternate with those products one day and the glowrecipe overnight mask on another day. If your having a hard time finding the right products for your issues don't get discouraged just try different methods and products until you find what's best for you, nothing happens overnight. Not only are these products great but you can't beat the unbelievably low prices.
