5 Reasons Why I Love TO’s Niacinamide Serum
I first heard about The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum when I was searching for brightening serums last year. While my combination skin rarely ever breaks out, I do have some dark marks left over from the occasional pimples that I would like to disappear, or at least, improve in appearance. So I ordered TO’s Niacinamide Serum, crossing my fingers and hoping that it’s actually effective. It’s been almost a whole year later and I’m already on my third bottle of this serum. I have to say, I love it more and more as time goes by! Here are the 5 reasons why. 1. It lightens up my dark spots. It’s not a very dramatic change, mind you, but it does lighten my dark spots quite noticeably. I guess I’ll have to use a few more bottles of this serum if I want to completely lighten them. 2. It smoothens my skin’s texture. I can't believe just how nice it is to glide your fingers over your skin and not feel any bumps! 3. It provides much-needed moisture. My skin never feels dry when I have this serum on. I think it’s successful in locking in the moisture from my essence, too. 4. It doesn’t make my skin oily. Even though it moisturizes my skin, it doesn’t make my face look oily or greasy. This is very important to me because I really like keeping my face matte. 5. It makes me look fresh in the morning. Who doesn’t like seeing that healthy glow on their face when they wake up in the morning? Definitely not me! Can you guess what my overall rating is? 💋💋💋💋💋 5 out of 5 kisses! I really enjoy using this product and I think I’ll keep using it for the future, at least until I find a worthy replacement. Hopefully not, though! If you have some dark spots and you’re having a hard time reducing their appearance, you may want to try out The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum! You can get it for only $5.90 on the Cherie website! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

HELP ME add differin to my routine!
So this is my first post and I don’t know how the Cherie algorithm works so I hope some skincare professionals see this but I am curious if I should switch my skincare routine around to make room for differin gel? My routine is extremely basic already because I only started back up a few months ago, but I’m not sure if I should maybe do the niacinamide in the AM and only use the differin at night? Can I still continue my double cleanse with differin? Also, should I stick to the hydrating face wash at nights as well when I start the differin treatment? I hope someone sees this lol 😭

Quick Guide To Using Niacinamide For Bright Skin
For someone like me who has combination skin and plenty of dark marks, niacinamide is definitely heaven-sent. Niacinamide is basically vitamin B3 in its active form. This ingredient is known to ease redness, lighten dark spots, and minimize pore appearance. Currently, I use niacinamide products regularly as part of my night routine. Prior to using this, I was using AHA products for the micro peel effect, but I stopped because I read on several blogs that niacinamide and AHA can’t be used together. So, how do I use niacinamide on my skin? I actually have two products containing this ingredient: an essence and a serum. After washing my face and applying toner, I use my palms to apply Nacific Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence. Next, I follow it up with The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I then apply eye cream to my eye area to prevent wrinkles. Lastly, I use my favorite night cream to leave my skin moisturized overnight. Nacific Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence is a lightweight essence that gets absorbed quickly into the skin. TO Niacinamide serum is a crowd-favorite for a reason – it’s very effective in brightening up the skin and lightening any hyperpigmentation. That said, some people have reported getting breakouts or other adverse products from this serum, so check the ingredients list first if you happen to be sensitive to an ingredient or two. 💋💋💋💋💋 5 out of 5 kisses for Niacinamide! I’ve been using niacinamide products for a good part of the year now and I’ve seen some noticeable differences in my skin. Niacinamide helped my skin go from dull to bright in just a short period of time. Say bye-bye to dark spots with this HG-worthy ingredient!

Brighten dark spots💫OVERNIGHT💫
I'm sure like most of you, there are very few products that make a real difference for me overnight, and have earned high status in my skincare repertoire as repurchases and "holy grail" items. This Vitamin C, has. 🤍 Literally overnight I see a significant reduction in dark spots. After 5 days, my skin is smoother, more even, and has a glow. 🤍 Some important things to know about this product: it's quite strong. Like all products please patch test on yourself and start out slow. I love mixing this with my collagen serum to dilute it a bit. If you are new to acids, I would not use this on night when you are using a strong acid exfoliator if your skin is not used to strong products. If you're an avid acid user, I still would not double up this with an acid more than 1x/week. it will sting if you have any breakouts or open wounds. Sometimes this even stings a bit when I use it after an exfoliating mask. Again, start slow. This is not a daytime Vitamin C. The texture is oily and a bit gritty. I don't mind this at all at night but don't recommend this during the day. How I apply: Cleanse➡️toner or essence➡️Vit C + collagen serum➡️[wait 5+ minutes to let it absorb bc like I said it's a bit oily]➡️ night cream or oil. I've been using this in my routine for years now and I highly, highly recommend. For me, it's perfect to use every few weeks or so, whenever I've had some breakouts or spots that need fading, or before a big event to really improve my skin's tone. The best part, it's so affordable and lasts so long. If you're going to pick up this product and take anything away from this long post, start slow and dilute with a night cream or serum to help your skin acclimate and reduce any stinging. 💕 The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%

Vitamin C & Alpha Arbutin to Treat Dark Spots
🍊I’m slowly making my way through The Ordinary’s Vitamin C products. I love love love TO’s alpha arbutin so the fact that it’s mixed with vitamin C, it’s close to being the perfect product. This product is 8% Ascorbic acid and 2% alpha arbutin. It’s water free which allows for the vitamin C & alpha arbutin to be stable (they’re unstable in water). To get technical, this means it’s an anhydrous solution :) The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% This is classified as a serum but does have an oily feel once applied to the skin (it IS oil-free). It takes maybe 10-15 seconds for it to absorb into the skin. It also has a scent to it which almost smells metallic to me? The Ingredients: Ascorbic acid: brightens the skin; helps with fine lines and other signs of aging Alpha arbutin: helps reduce the look of hyperpigmentation. With that being said, this product is ideal for anyone who is looking to: reduce dark spots, reduce fine lines & wrinkles, treat acne/blemish marks, provide an overall brightness to the skin This can be used in the AM or PM. While I didn’t notice any tingling or irritation, be sure to spot test — especially if you’re new to vitamin C. This product has a “moderate potency” according to Deciem :) Also, thanks to this product, I have noticed a change in some scarring on my leg from a pesky ingrown hair. With this product, less is more, especially since it has an oily feel to it. If your skin is oily, this may not be the best vitamin C to try; however, I think this is great if you have dry skin! Recommend this 100%. Retails for $10 CAD. PS Don’t forget to wear sunscreen when using vitamin C products 🧴☀️😎

Why you need Niacinamide
Also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinamide, Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly - *minimize enlarged pores *tighten lax pores *improve uneven skin tone *soften fine lines and wrinkles *diminish dullness, and strengthen a weakened surface I don’t think there is one person out there needing help in at least one of these areas!! Niacinamide + Zinc @ $6.00 This water-based serum is has a light gel texture that absorbs quickly and layers perfectly – loads of people rate it as a primer because it instantly makes skin super smooth. Ideal for oily skin, apply it twice daily and you’ll soon notice you skin balancing out. Plus, it has the added bonus of zinc, which helps with healing blemishes. Zinc aids in healing the skin and prevents acne by regulating the activity of the oil glands. Zinc promotes a healthy immune system and the healing of tissues. It is also an antioxidant which helps to fight and prevent the formation of free radicals. Niacinamide can aid in reducing inflammation, which can help with acne, eczema and other inflammatory skin issues. It also helps regulate our natural skin oil production. And the benefits just keep coming...Niacinamide can help slow down the production of Melanin and lighten existing dark patches of skin. Additionally, Niacinamide has been shown to boost collagen, improve skin hydration levels, and even strengthen the skin to protect against environmental pollutants. When working with Niacinamide you want to use it early on in your skincare routine. Always remember- “thinnest to thickest.” Niacinamide is a serum and think of serums as extra treatments that address individual skin concerns outside of regular cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. So Niacinamide should be after toning but before moisturizing. Like most skincare products you are not going to see immediate results. Visible results can take up to 8 weeks, although you may notice a change in your skins texture. I like to use a product for 2-3 months before deciding to keep on with it or move onto something else. For me, Niacinamide will always be apart of my skincare routine. I’ve noticed positive changes in my pores, reduced acne and overall I feel it pairs well with the other products I use, boosting their effectiveness. I especially like to add mine after Cleansing, toning and then applying it after my Hyaluronic Acid. Then I follow up with my other products. There has been debate whether or not Niacinamide is safe to use with Vitamin C, but more and more information is coming to light that it is indeed safe and the two actually pair well together. It was said that Niacinamide cancelled out the effectiveness of Vitamin C, but research now indicates that unless you have overally sensitive skin, the two can be used together. Just be sure to test patch an area of your skin if you are prone to sensitivity. (Some of my facts and info were taken from: www.healthline.com)

The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide + zinc 1%
Niacinamide is great for reducing oil and sebum production in the skin. Niacinamide is also a brightening agent which will help calm down redness and irritation in the skin. The zinc will also help reduce redness and ideation in the skin. - I like to use this product a couple times a week. After using this product for about 4 months I have seen less redness in my skin. This product really helps my acne scars and I notice that the spots go away within a couple of days. I’m almost out of this product and I already have a back up.

✨THE ORDINARY VIT C + NIACINAMIDE
I just recently added these two serums to my regimen (about 3 weeks ago) after learning about the benefits of vitamin C and niacinamide. ✨ Vitamin C is an essential component for protecting against the sun and free radical damage that accumulates in your daily life, and also can help to brighten hyperpigmentation from previous sun damage and acne scarring. The Ordinary - Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% Price: $12.90 for 1 oz The effects of vitamin C are not usually very obvious and help your skin in the long term and on the molecular level. That being said, it is difficult to give different vitamin C serums accurate ratings when the benefits aren’t tangible. However, I really enjoy using this serum and the texture is light and slippery, only 3 or 4 drops are necessary to cover the entire face so it lasts a long time, and it does not sting at all like some stronger vitamin C solutions sometimes do. I do feel like there are many other vitamin C serums packed with other antioxidants and beneficial components that have better brightening effects, but for what it is (a simple, pure ingredient, stable derivative, at a very low price point) I think it definitely gets the job done for those looking to introduce it into their routine! I’m definitely looking forward to trying the other vit C serums the ordinary has in their line once I finish this one! ✨ Niacinamide is a molecule that controls oil/sebum production to prevent and clear breakouts and even out your complexion. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Price: $5.90 for 1 oz I had very high expectations for this serum, as it has such glowing reviews! I do really like it, i feel like I had a slight purging period where I was having some breakouts, but I can’t guarantee it was due to this as I’ve been switching up my regimen a lot lately. After that was over however, my skin has been very clear and I think it does help my few hormonal break outs pass much faster with no scarring. I just wasn’t completely wowed by the serum and I can’t say for sure how much it really is benefitting me, but I’m still gonna keep using it of course! At the end of the day, I can’t expect such a cheap serum to perform miracles, and I believe it does what it says and more for such a great price! ✨ As always, let me know below if you have any questions or recommendations 🥰
