The Benefits of Rice Water

JadesJourney
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ I didn’t want to let the week go by without a natural post so I thought I’d talk about rice water. 😉 Rice water has been used in Asian beauty rituals for centuries. It’s said to be the secret behind their clear, glowing complexion. The skin brightening enzymes in rice water make it a key ingredient for Japanese and Korean skin care rituals. Health line say, Rice 🌾 water contains substances known to help protect and repair your skin. About 16% of its composition consists of proteins, the building blocks of skin cells. It’s enriched with triglycerides, lipids and starch, which are all responsible for enhancing skin health. Carbohydrates, inositol, phytic acid and inorganic substances make up the rest of the composition, making rice water an ideal DIY ingredient for achieving glowing skin. ☺️ 🧚‍♀️ Some people swear by the skin lightening powers of rice water. The chemicals in it are known to lighten pigment although how light isn’t known 🧐 🧚‍♀️ It’s said to soothe and tone skin. Studies found rice starch can be beneficial in repairing and maintaining the natural barrier of the skin. This can be helpful to prepare your skin to fight external aggressors and prevent issues like atopic dermatitis 🧚‍♀️ The chemicals contained in rice have been shown to help protect the skin against the sun’s rays and is an effective sunscreen when combined with other plant extracts Be Beautiful had an Article on fermented rice water. Fermented rice water is a more potent form of treatment that has added benefits of smoothening and conditioning. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 How to make fermented rice water 💦 Rinse rice properly with water first. Place rice into a glass bowl filled with water and soak for two days. This will trigger the natural fermentation process of rice. After two days, strain the rice and store it in a glass bottle in the refrigerator. The Shelf life is 7 days. When using fermented rice water, dilute a couple of tablespoons with normal water and apply with a cotton ball or pad. Leave it on for a half-hour and then wash as usual. You can also add aloe Vera 🌱 to rice 🍚 water and use as an overnight mask if you need extra hydration. ⚠️ Commercially packaged rice is treated with pesticides and can have dirt and bacteria accumulated from the production and packaging process. It’s is important to clean your batch of rice thoroughly before using its water for beauty purposes. I’m trialling REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Creambut once I’ve finished I’ll be replacing my acwell - Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner with fermented rice water to see if it helps smooth my rough texture, minimise pores, and brighten my complexion ☺️ I’ll post an update next week on if this homemade recipe works. Do you use rice water in products like SKll or Tatcha? I’d love to hear from you. ☺️ Have a wonderful day or evening Jade

Carla_Health_Beauty_ChatI tried the Tatcha Rice Wash and it was a pretty decent experience but just really expensive.

5 Ways Snow Damages Your Skin
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ I realised it may be summer here in Australia but it’s cold 🥶 in the Northern Hemisphere and the issues of winter can be extremely bad for your skin. Some issues include: 🧚‍♀️ Transdermal Water loss Transepidermal water loss or TEWL refers to the skin's deprivation of water due to arid winter conditions. The drier the skin is genetically, or if you have a skin disorder, the more dramatic the symptoms. For especially dry areas, smooth on a petroleum based ointment like LUCAS' PAPAW REMEDIES - Lucas' Papaw Ointment Lip Balm it’s my go to lip balm 💋 🧚‍♀️ Icy Wind A major contributor to TEWL is the icy wind. The icy gales can aggravate skin and pull any moisture from your skin. I like to hydrate well in Winter ❄️ I noticed having just come out of the colder months here in Oz, I was using two moisturisers a day in Winter. Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer and Auqest 5 Second Wrinkle Cream. I’ve trimmed down my day routine and currently use CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream☺️ 🧚‍♀️ Sun Exposure on an Icy Day The sun doesn't necessarily stop shining simply because snow is falling. Never skip sunscreen, snow reflects up to 80% of UV light so your hit twice by the same rays. 😱 I use BANANA BOAT - Ultra Sport Sunscreen lotion broad spectrum, SPF 50 I’ve been looking for a new product but I’ll use what I have before trialling a few recommendations from other beauty’s. The higher your SPF the better. 🤗 🧚‍♀️Extreme temperature shifts Very cold weather and icy wind gusts combined with lack of humidity, forced heat, hot baths and going outside for any length of time can accumulate to TEWL. Skin doesn't respond well to extreme temperatures, especially when exposed to both heat and cold in a short period of time. During winter make sure you wash with tepid or lukewarm water and use a cleanser designed for sensitive skin. I have mature combination skin and use acwell - Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner Exposing your skin to hot water can aggravate cold skin. 🧚‍♀️Lack of humidity The base level of humidity is a significant factor in maintaining hydrated skin. The drop in humidity in winter and the over heating of rooms can seriously dry out your skin. I’d suggest getting a humidifier in winter and why not drop a few drops of your favourite essential oil. 😉 Also hydrate well and ensure your products have ingredients like ceramides and emollients that keep skin from losing its moisture on cold dry days. 😁 I’ve realised writing this post that I’ve stripped down my skincare routine significantly as it’s gotten warmer. But I’m lucky that my fundamental products can be used during both seasons. What products do you use through the winter and summer months. Drop a comment below. 😉 Have a wonderful evening! 2020 Top 5
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ So this tag has been out for a few days but I had a really hard time deciding my favourites for 2020. But here goes 😄 🧚‍♀️ My favourite Product this year apart from my top three post last week would be acwell - Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner A K-Beauty Brand, formulated with Peony root and licorice. It contains 10% licorice water. Licorice is a well-studied ingredient that is natural and helps to brighten your overall complexion. It’s made for sensitive skin and I use it daily. I started my journey using an essence, moisturiser and eye cream. So much has changed. 😂 🧚‍♀️ My Favourite Trend would be Hemp Oil. Hemp oil is perfect for most skin types as it can moisturise without clogging pores. It can help balance oily skin, hydrating and regulating the skin's oil production. Health line indicate that the omega-3s and omega-6s in hemp oil may be effective in treating a number of skin conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis and lichen planus. 🧚‍♀️My Best Look Haven’t been out much this year, and I usually go to make up artists if I do so my best look would have been going to my uncles 70th. My skin was looking radiant and glowing so I didn’t need make 🆙 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I went out and felt amazing! My lesson is that I don’t always need my make up artist for every event. Only special occasions 🙃 🧚‍♀️ Favourite Creator on Cherie This one was the hardest but for skincare @D.Bennettand @JaNeeReviewshad so many great recommendations. 🧚‍♀️ For Make up @FrancescaDFlower🌸 I’m awed at the amazing looks! One day I may learn 🧐 🧚‍♀️ Best Newcomer to Cherie 🍒@PamelaSargent she’s trying to clean up her skincare routine and I’m trying too so I’m a follower. ☺️ 🧚‍♀️ Skincare is Self-Care 🧖🏽‍♀️ taking time out for yourself breeds good habits. I learnt what natural masks work for me and how to read skincare ingredients and translate them to English. 😉 I shop on recommendation which is why I joined Cherie to find products that worked for my issues and found amazing advice from the Cherie community. 🍒 And results take time and consistency! Biggest lesion ever. Have a wonderful New Year! Jade 😄

Ren Clean Skincare: 7 Day Challenge
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ So Ive been focussed on sleeping masks lately for two reasons. I’m trying to simplify my routines and I’m really enjoying them. I’m currently using REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream they had a 7 day challenge for brighter and clearer skin so I thought 💭 why not. 😉 I’m currently on day 4. Ren is a UK Clean Skincare brand that was created in 2000 and acquired by Unilever in 2015. The Company say, REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Cream plumps and hydrates skin, while visibly reducing the appearance of dark spots and uneven complexion. It is formulated with encapsulated algae, and phytoglycogen. It’s made with 94% naturally derived ingredients, vegan, cruelty-free, and suitable for all skin types. How to apply Massage into clean skin every night. My thoughts 💭 🧚‍♀️ It has a really nice lightweight texture and your skin feels hydrated when applying 🧚‍♀️ It’s been great for simplifying my night routine, I double cleanse and apply 😊 I haven’t added my usual serums to gauge the results 🧚‍♀️ It’s Day 4 and my skin looks radiant, I still have hyperpigmentation spots so I’m hoping to see results over the next few days 🧚‍♀️ It’s pricey at $110 at Mecca and I’m not a fan of spending that much money on a moisturiser 🧴 I received this as a sample in an Adore beauty box and really enjoy the product. I’m a fan but I got the best advice attending Cherie’s Derm Panel. Moisturisers shouldn’t cost a fortune. So it’s a no from me for repurchasing but 4 Stars because I’m on day 4 and can already see results! Have you used Ren clean skincare products. Would love to get some recommendations from other beauty’s. ☺️ just drop a comment below. Have a wonderful day or evening Jade

REN Skincare for Maskacne
I told you guys I would buy the full size of these babies because I loved them so much! After I wear a mask all day long and my skin feels all gunked up I use the ren radiance toner and this dark spot overnight cream. It just gets rid of any oncoming acne it is a god send! And the recovery balm I actually use before I have to put a mask on for 8 hours because it traps in the moisture better then anything I’ve tried before. And it does leave my face baby soft so that’s a plus! 5/5 love love love these two

Esse Probiotic Skincare. ⁣⁣⁣ Esse Sensitive Cleanser ($55) – Ultra-gentle foaming agents and probiotic extracts make this the perfect cleanser for sensitive skin. ⁣⁣⁣ Esse Sensitive Toner ($45) - With advanced level probiotic extracts this toner protects against external aggressors by strengthening barrier function. Esse Sensitive Protect Oil ($63) - Ximenia oil shields sensitive skin, offering it all round protection from environmental stresses. ⁣⁣⁣ Esse Sensitive Nourish Moisturizer ($69) - Dryness and sensitivity are both linked to a breakdown in the skin’s barrier function. Love the earth colored product packaging with the silver lettering. I also love what this brand is about. Many of their ingredients are farmed organically which is a bonus. Their products are great for all skin types and those with sensitive skin can definitely use. Those that are scent sensitive will not be bothered as there is very little smell to their products. The cleanser left my skin feeling refreshed and soothed. The Toner did not dry out my skin which I hate when toners do that. Not an issue here. When I used these products, my skin has never felt this good. And my mother actually complimented me on my skin, so this was a big win!⁣⁣⁣

Aesop two minds mini review ✨
Aesop two minds mini review ✨
Aesop - In Two Minds Facial Hydrator - Will update as I continue to use - Aesop - In Two Minds Facial Toner lovely ingredients, nice herbal scent, doesn’t sting or burn. Aesop - In Two Minds Facial Cleanser soft lather, doesn’t give a tight feeling but does leave skin feeling dry but at the same time soft. It’s like it sucks up your oils but the surface feels softened. It’s hard to describe! I do think oily/acne-prone skins can benefit from this cleanser. *beware of essential oil sensitivities* YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser I wish it would lather more or that I would need less cleanser for it to cover my face and make it feel clean. Overall great cleanser, bought a second bottle! CHANEL - LA SOLUTION 10 DE CHANEL Sensitive Skin Cream Simple, 10 ingredients only, great for sensitive, dry, mature or normal skin. Doesn’t clog pores, no scent, just a beautiful formula.

Current skin routine
#savemyskin Hi, I’m Kirstin. I am 17 years old and I have very oily skin. I am also a swimmer so I often struggle with going in between extremes of dry and oily skin. I am constantly struggling with the oiliness of my skin, not so much the acne part. I only really get acne around my mouth, and very rarely other places. Never gotten body acne. I also struggle with wrinkles under my eyes, got it from the family. My dad has genetic acne, I have never struggled with persistent or body acne. This is my routine so far: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser for Oily Skin I frickin’ love this product. My skin have looked clearer because of it. It is gentle on my skin, fragrance free, and gets rid of all that gross oil. 100 times better than the proactiv - Renewing Cleanser which was effective in getting all the oil off, but it over dried my skin. It was also rough on my skin as it felt like rubbing sand on my face. proactiv - Skin Smoothing Exfoliator Way more gentle than the generic cleanser and probably my favorite proactiv product. It does not over dry my skin as it was meant for sensitive skim, and I felt refreshed afterwards. I only use this two times a week. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator are use this every morning. Refined the look of my pores and tries to clear out blemishes, feels kind of oily though and is kind of pricey. Not a miracle product for me, as I am half on half off the proactive train, it kept reacting with the products and burning my skin. No fun. proactiv - Revitalizing Toner got this from day one never irritated my skin. It didn’t really hydrate like promised, but it did add good ingredients like glycolic acid into my skin. Feels super refreshing to put on and dries quickly. I use it every night because I am a lifeguard and a swimmer and my skin tends to dry out. GOOD MOLECULES - Squalane Oil The only serum I’ve ever used, hydrates and balances my skin. Because I struggle with both extremely oily and extremely dry skin it balances the hydration so my face has a really smooth texture. Super cheap as well!! Clean&Clear - Hydrating Watermelon Daily Gel Face Moisturizer I love that this product is super lightweight and does not clog my pores. However it does not help on my extremely dry days and often have to put on regular body lotion on my face to provide proper hydration. Also fragrance, and I know how to skin care community feels about fragrance. ... I’ve talked to my mum about skin care in the future. She wants me to try a new customize care of proactive products and see how they work out for the next four months. If it doesn’t work we are going to wean off the products as they are expensive, and go to drugstore products. Will update which path I will take in the progress my skin has made!!!!

A fresh morning cleanse
A fresh morning cleanse
Hi everyone, this is my first post! I am so wrapt with my Lancome cleansing products I just had to share! I spend a lot of my mornings out on the farm and with my job on TV most of my afternoons I am wearing quite heavy makeup. My skin was feeling the side affects, I wanted something gentle that was going to brightening and lift my skin in the morning so I could be makeup free and still feel confident. These products have done the trick! First I apply the Oil in Gel cleanser in small circles, then apply a small amount of water and keep rubbing in circles. Then rinse. Using a cotton pad I apply the pink Lancome toner and swipe across horizontally on my face. I am then ready for my other products and sometimes I use this cleansing routine in its own in between the day for a fresh glow. They are wonderful!! 🧡🤍💕
