The Benefits of Manuka Honey
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽♀️ Happy Wellness Wednesday! Today I wanted to talk about the benefits of Manuka Honey 🍯. Manuka honey is native to New Zealand and is a dark honey produced by bees that pollinate the manuka bush. While manuka honey 🍯 is a sugar, it is a simple sugar, unlike refined sugars which are sucrose. This makes absorption for energy much easier, but it also has nutritional advantages over other sugars 🍭 , providing other nutrients. It’s known for its wound healing properties, when applied directly to a wound, it may improve the healing process and decrease pain. The US Food 🥘 and Drug Administration approved it as an option for wound treatment in 2015. Heath line say, Manuka honey's antibacterial properties are what set it apart from traditional honey. Methylglyoxal is its active ingredient and likely responsible for these antibacterial effects. It 🍯 offers collectively antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, studies have shown wound healing capabilities in tissue regeneration, acute wounds and superficial partial thickness burns, diabetic ulcers and eyelid wounds, post surgery. I use Pure Source’s Manuka Honey Cleanser as one of my day cleansers and also have their lip balm. 💄 They put it in as a thank you. I love companies who give product size complimentary gifts. 🎁 Its been great for my lips, I usually do a weekly home made sugar and honey scrub and haven’t found the need since using the lip balm. Benefits of Manuka Honey for Skin 🧚♀️ Clearer skin, the antibacterial properties of Manuka honey can naturally kill acne-causing bacteria. 🧚♀️ Soothed skin, the anti-inflammatory and healing properties of Manuka soothe your skin and can reduce redness. 🧚♀️ Glowing skin, the enzymes provide a gentle exfoliation, leaving soft and glowing skin. Manuka Honey Face Mask 😷 Elizabeth Rider posted a one ingredient Manuka Honey face mask. I tried it. 😁 Ingredients 1 or 2 Tbsps Manuka Honey
Cleanse, it works best if you start with clean skin.
Use your fingers to spread about 1 tablespoon of high-quality Manuka honey over your entire face in a thick layer. Cover your neck and chest too if you can.
Let it sit for 20 minutes while it works its magic. Elizabeth said you can walk around and read a book but it’s sticky and gooey so I laid down and relaxed.
After 20 minutes rinse it off and enjoy the glow. Use a soft washcloth with warm water 💦 to remove the honey. 🍯
Finish your routine with your usual serum and moisturiser. 🧴If you give this one a try, I’d love to know how it worked for you so drop me a comment. 😄 Have a great evening🥂 Jade 😃

Do You Need to Double Cleanse?
Now I was quite worried about seeing that you guys wanted this post so badly. And the reason why is that Double cleansing is very controversial. Many beauty beauty gurus recommend it, and many don’t. The double cleanse was first introduced to America in the famous 10 Step Korean Skincare Routine, when Korean skincare first became popular in America. This method claims that by using first an oil-based cleanser and then a water-based cleanser you can cleanse deeper, but without stripping your skin. The logic of this method follows a longstanding scientific principle that “like dissolves like”, which in this case means an oil based cleanser will supposedly get rid of oil, which if left on the skin can repel a water based cleanser, not allowing it to do it’s job properly. Ellinor Quay Coyne, a dermatologist based in Washington, DC, believes there are benefits to using the double cleanse method. Her explanation of the method was “The oil-based cleanser in the double cleanse method is a great way to remove sebum and makeup and sunscreen at the end of the day. You can then penetrate the pores more deeply with the water-based cleanser.” However for this method to work there need to be very specific products involved. Many cleansers use harsh chemicals to remove sebum and dirt, but those chemicals can strip your skin of it’s natural oils and leave it dehydrated. And that’s part of the reason these oil-based cleansers are beneficial. From looking at the ingredients list and how oil-based cleansers work, they have more emollients in them, which are basically skin protectants, which can protect dehydrated and stripped skin. If you have sensitive skin, double cleansing could be a great option. Essentially, the double cleanse method can help you remove more dirt, grime, and sebum from your face which can help acne. It’s not something you need to do, but it can be beneficial depending on your skin concerns and skin type. XL Acne Patches?!
Do you love what acne patches do for your pimples, but wish you could cover a cluster of pimples? This is the perfect product for you! What is it? - Avarelle XL Acne Patches are created for people who suffer from troublesome skin or blemish issues in order to lower the unwanted stress levels and to boost your confidence for a cleaner, happier skin. Avarelle is made with Tea Tree Oil, Calendula Oil & Hydrocolloid Dressing. Simply apply Avarelle whenever you see unwelcoming acne coming up. - They are available on Amazon for $8.50 for 8 patches! What’s in it? - Tea Tree Oil: skin-soothing properties and antioxidant. - Calendula Oil: skin-soothing and antioxidant properties. - Cica/Centella: source of amino acids and has soothing properties. - Hydrocolloid Dressing: thought to work by drawing out sebum, absorbing excess oil, reducing inflammation, and significantly reducing the size of blemishes. How to use- - Cleanse & Dry Area. Before applying toner/lotion/etc, peel and apply the patch overnight or desired amount of time (minimum of 6 hours). My review- - I have dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin. I started getting an increased amount of acne, especially around my chin/jawline. I had previously used the traditional small, circle acne patches, but found that I needed something bigger to cover the clusters of pimples that I had. I searched on Amazon and found these amazing XL acne patches! - I have used these patches a couple times now, and they are so effective! They stick so well to the skin. I typically wear them overnight since even though they are almost clear, it’s still visible on the skin. I find them to be the perfect size, but you can cut them to fit your face better. - They really do suck all the sebum out of the pimple and make them clear up so much faster. Plus they prevent you from picking at the acne, which is helpful all by itself! I definitely recommend trying these out! AVARELLE- Acne Cover Patch
My Oldschool Acne Cure
It never occurred to me to use Calamine Lotion for acne until I saw the Mario Badescu drying lotion. It was pink which was a dead give away to me what it was. I looked it up and sure enough its calamine and salicylic acid. I hate salicylic acid, and literally had some calamine in the cupboard so figured I'd give it a go. For my sensitive skin this is pretty much perfect. I put a thick layer on my zits at night and even a thin layer on some of my oily problem areas. Similar to a clay mask you will see it dry up the oils and start to crack. But, it always remains super soothing. Usually after having some on for a couple hours I will see a decrease in redness. I will even put concealer over the dry patches for keeping my zits dry throughout the day. 100% would recommend for acne and especially cystic acne and oily problem areas.
Dried out skin from too much acne cream?
Every once in a while ill use too much acne cream and end up with stiff, dry, flaky skin. This happens to me when i apply my DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel too much to my skin. When this happens, I change my skincare routine to “basic”. No acne treatment, no added serums, and no makeup. I do this until my skin is back to normal. POND'S - Facial Moisturizers Dry Skin Cream SAVES MY FACE!! It is a very thick, creamy product and works wonders. Only one application and my face is back to normal. You can find this at walmart, although I recommend getting the travel size because, the normal size is pretty big and a little goes a long way with this product.
DIFFERIN-DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel
I just want to share a little bit of my problem areas with y’all! My chin is home to breakouts and so are my cheeks. My skin tends to breakout from August all the way until early May. Once summer hits, it clears up as if I never have acne. My acne is painful and itchy and mostly inflammed! It never wants to heal! Plus, I also scar easily. One of the main things that has helped me to clear up my skin is staying away from fast foods. During the summer, I stay in the house and I rarely go out because my mom says, “No one has McDonald’s money.” However, when August hits I’m constantly out and going places so I tend to eat out more. I didn’t realize the connection between my acne and fast foods until recently. I started college last year and my skin was crystal clear! Like I was high on life and I felt so confident. Unfortunately for me, I started eating out every day at Burger King, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. It wrecked my skin and led to terrible breakouts. My skin didn’t clear up until I went back home for Thanksgiving and Christmas break. I learned it matters what you put in your body 😅 I just wanted to share a lesson I learned the hard way.
Put that acne in its place ✌️
Let me start by saying this is not an overnight solution! This requires patience and consistency to really work! I’m 27 and recently had a flare up of hormonal acne around my chin and right cheek. I tried everything and finally decided to see a dermatologist. He prescribed benzoyl peroxide to use every morning (I leave it on only for 5 minutes and wash it off) and I use this gel 3 nights a week. I’ve been doing this routine for just over a month and I’ve seen a huge improvement! Do I have flawless skin that doesn’t need makeup?? Absolutely not lol. But it’s much better than before I started using this product. It is obviously drying and can cause irritation. I use the CAUDALIE - Grape Water and let it soak in my skin before I apply this to reduce irritation. Ps. Your skin may go through a purge at first but that’s normal! It will get worse before it gets better but it’s worth the results. Also will increase sensitivity so please make sure you’re using sunscreen!
