Brand Breakdown: Glow Recipe
Hey y’all! In today’s Brand Breakdown, we’re talking about Glow Recipe. Glow recipe was founded in 2014 bu Christine Chang, and Sarah Lee, two Korean Americans. Today I’ll be breaking down the ingredients of 4 of their most popular products. Let’s start with the GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask with is $42 for .5 fl oz. This face mask features retinol as the title suggests, and it also has avocado oil and extract, as well as coffeeberry. Avocado oil and extract have Vitamin E and C, and are also nourishing. Coffeeberry, which is the seed of a coffee plant, has a lot of antioxidants. It also has glycerin and squalane which are hydrating, as well as Nicinamide, Hylaronic acid, and aloe vera gel. I will mention that this product has a lot of potentially irritating extracts as well as fragrance. Next is one of their most popular products, the GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask which is $45 for 2.7 fl oz. This mask has has 2 main ingredients. Watermelon extract, and Hylaronic acid. By this point y’all know all about Hylaronic acid (and if you don’t, check out my Skincare Acid Cheat Sheet), so let’s talk about watermelon extract. If you read my Brand Breakdown on Clean & Clear, you’ll know that watermelon extract is an amazing ingredient, and watermelon juice isn’t. Luckily, in this product it’s watermelon extract, which is very soothing and hydrating. This product also has glycerin and Glycolic acid in it. It does however have a lot of fragrance, irritating extracts, and alcohol. Next up is the #GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover[products]#[ThreeStars] with is $32 for 3.4 fl oz. Supposedly the main draws of this product are papaya enzymes, papaya seed oil, and blueberry extract. Now blueberry extract and papaya seed oil are not very researched ingredients that have only minimal effects on the skin. Papaya enzymes are mildly exfoliating, but don’t do much else. The cleansing balm is pretty basic other than this. And finally is the #GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple Vitamin C Serum[products]#[TwoStars] which is $49 for 1 fl oz. The marketing for this product is around its pineapple juice and Vitamin C. This product is super lacking for the price. The same way watermelon juice is less good for your skin than watermelon extract (because it’s diluted), pineapple juice is less effective than pineapple extract. Other than that, this product has Vitamin C which is great but very mainstream. This product also has fragrance. Those are all the products I have for today. I would say they got gradually worse as we went on, which I didn’t even do on purpose. This brand is quite expensive for it’s actual formulations, and I think there are better brands that are cheaper. If you can splurge, splurge on Youth to the People instead. Cherie Made Me But It! 🍒 ✨🍉
Hi Cherie Fam 🍒 I came across @Mallory‘s post regarding the avocado sleeping eye mask 🥑 and the niacinamide watermelon drops 🍉. I was intrigued so I did some research and ended up ordering the make your own kit. It comes with 4 sample size items and a bag for $29. I thought I would try to sample the product first and see how it works on my skin before committing to a full size products. I got the •GLOW RECIPE - Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser I heard this cleanser is great for removing make up. I read the ingredient list and I am sold. I can never say no to a gentle cleanser • GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer I am looking for a new day time moisturizer and this seems perfect. This smells so good. It has a thin consistency and feels cool on the skin •GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask I HAD to get this. Dark circles and hollow under eyes are a problem. It’s generic and I love how this contains retinol Glow recipe also included lots of sample items. I didn’t pick up the niacinamide drops because I still have lots from Paula’s choice. However, I am excited to try it and glad I got a sample I will post a review in a month or so and let you all know how it worked out. Xoxo, Francesca 💋
Patchology duo Restoring Night CloudMasque™ ☁️ The 🔑 ingredients in this sleeping mask are hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin and help improve elasticity, retinol to help with cell turnover, and peptide complexes to reduce fine lines and crow’s feet. This mask meant to restore the skin’s moisture levels overnight, and that it does. The first couple times I used this guy, it did take a long while to sink into my skin - even with my facial roller, it was a struggle. After all was said and done, though, I had no heavy or greasy feeling of the mask on my face, and it ended up sinking in very nicely. I did break out after a few days of using this, but I’m not 100% blaming the product, and I haven’t been scared away from using this. Maybe I was just due for some breakouts? 🤷🏻♀️ Anyway, I can definitely attest to this mask keeping my skin hydrated well into the morning, and for that reason and its whipped, dreamy, luxurious consistency, I can confidently say this is a good product. 🌙 FlashPatch® Restoring Night Eye Gels The 🔑 ingredients in these eye patches are retinol to speed cell turnover, cedrus atlantica bark to brighten and reduce dark circles, peptide complexes to reduce fine lines and crow’s feet, arnica and cucumber extract to reduce puffiness and inflammation, and squalane to hydrate, soften and protect from free radicals. These are supposed to provide one with a brighter, more youthful-looking eye area. I’m sad to say it, but I didn’t really see huge results with these 😕 I just didn’t notice anything different to my eye area the next morning (I left these on overnight). To be fair, I’ve only used 2 sets of eye patches, so these are first impressions - and, I always struggle to gauge how eye products work for me. I’m not giving up on these and will be reporting back! I love Patchology and their products and will definitely continue to purchase from the brand.

Had a Late Night? 2 Quick Fixes!
We all have “those” nights. Whether it’s up late working on a school or work assignment, watching too many YouTube (or Tik Tok) videos, stressed about something, or whatever else that prevents you from having a good night of sleep, we all want to look well-rested! In addition to a splash of cold water on your face and a cup of coffee, tea, or matcha, there are 2 things I usually do to help my face and under eyes look like I got the recommended 8 hours of sleep. Puffiness and extra darkness under the eyes are common if you didn’t get a good night of sleep. An easy way to de-puff, hydrate, and instantly lift your under eyes is to use eye gels. I use the GOOD MOLECULES - Caffeine Energizing Hydrogel Eye Patches when I need an extra pick-me-up. They contain caffeine, acetyl tetrapeptide-5, niacinamide, aloe, and hyaluronic acid to firm, hydrate, soothe, and smooth. My under eyes visibly look and feel better in 10-15 minutes. These patches don’t slip and slide like many others I’ve tried. This particular product is great because they’re a good bang for your buck - $18 for 60 patches (30 uses), and I have repurchased them. I am a makeup lover so I do dot some concealer on after my skincare routine, but that’s optional! My next tip is to use some sort of brightening mask that contains vitamin C. Vitamin C will wake up your complexion and leave your skin looking glowing. I have been using the fresh - Vitamin C Glow Face Mask (sample size) in the mornings when my skin is looking dull. This citrus marmalade smelling and looking mask is easy and fun to apply. It contains AHAs such as orange, lemon, and clementine extracts to gently smooth + glow. After about 10 minutes, my complexion looks refreshed and plumped. I like this mask a lot but won’t repurchase because Fresh is not cruelty-free. This mask retails for $62 for 3.3oz or $25 for 1oz at Sephora, but you can use any vitamin C-enriched mask you’ve got at home! Pro tip: Use the eye gels and mask together to save time! About my skin: dryyyyy and acne-prone

A mini review of my current favourite masks: 💜 Drunk elephant - Baby Facial. This is a 25% AHA & 2% BHA mix mask that you use once per week. This mask resurfaces the skin and exfoliates pores to break down dead skin cells. This gives you the brightest, most smoothest skin ever. 💜 Herbivore botanicals - Blue Tansy. This mask contains BHA which is anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory, fruit enzymes which exfoliate and leave smooth skin and blue tansy oil which gives the mask its colour and helps to soothe irritation and reduce redness. . 💜 Tatcha - Violet C Radiance Mask. This contains Japanese Beautyberry, 2 types of Vitamin C and AHA's from 7 fruits. This mask brightens and softens the skin. I love that it softens fine lines too which I've noticed since using this. 💜 Tatcha - Luminous Dewy Skin Mask. Vitamin E and essential fatty acids, and a high concentration of botanical oils and extracts to nourish the skin. Leaves you with the most gorgeous glow afterwards with plump skin. I am so interested in the whole dewy line. 💜 Pixi - Detoxifeye Patches. Contains Hyaluronic Acid and Caffeine to smooth and depuff and helps reduce dark circles. I use these every second day and wow do they really reduce dark circles. 💜 La mer - Intensive Revitalizing Mask. This mask energises, plumps and protects the skin and neutralises free radicals. This just super hydrates my skin. 💜 Pixi - Glow Mud Mask. Contains Kaolin Clay to cleanse and purify, Sea Salt to detoxify and Ginseng to brighten and clarify. 💜 Glow recipe - Watermelon Glow Jelly Mask. Nature Republic Sheet Mask Review
I have gone through several of these Nature Repulic sheet masks. We live pretty close to Hmart and inside they have this little K-beauty boutique and so my mom and I always stock up on these when we run out. They are pretty affordable and sometimes are on sale for BOGO or $10 for 10. My favorite ones are the Real Nature Mask Sheet in Royal Jelly (the honey one). The Royal jelly is a honey bee secretion that is used apparently in providing nutrition to bee larvae and for queen bees. The benefits for us (putting it on our face) is nourishment and an improvement in skin texture. It is said to make the skin plump and hydrated and aid with wrinkle prevention. Sounds good to me! The royal jelly used in this mask is gathered from Kang-won province from Korea, which is apparently famous for bee farming. I didn’t know that. I only knew that Kang-won province was famous for their seafoods LOL. The cotton on this sheet mask wraps so nicely on the face and remains on there until I remove it off. I can walk around and do other things with this mask on which is a huge plus because I can multi-task while masking. It really leaves my face plump and very well hydrated. It definitely is worth to try because the mask is deeply saturated with the essence. It also has enough essence left in the pouch to use on my arms and legs. 5/5 from me. So affordable, so good. First impression: I tried herbal dynamics beauty cacao & chamomile clearing clay mask and mango & green tea firming eye mask for the first time last night and I really liked both of them. The eye mask was super cooling and soothe my tired eyes. I’m pretty sure my under eyes were brighter and less puffy this morning. However, I didn’t really enjoy the smell of the clay mask. The clay didn’t blend in well with the cacao powder and it basically just smelled like toxic to me. Aside from the smell, my skin felt soft and less congested this morning. I also have a few pimples on my jawline that felt less irritated. Anyways I’m definitely impressed with these two products and I can’t wait to use them more often!.

🥑FAV EYE MASKS🥑
🌿THE PRODUCT🌿 The GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Face Mask is marketed as an under-eye mask to put on and leave on at night while you sleep. It is a heavy cream for nighttime use, and is intended to have anti-aging and brightening benefits. The target concerns of this eye mask are darkness, puffiness, dryness, and a loss of firmness under the eye. It has retinol to help with anti-aging for things like fine lines and a loss of elasticity under the eye. Avocado and coffeeberry extract are ingredients that help soothe, moisturize, and nourish the eye area. The texture is SO THICK. It was so hard to capture a picture of the texture, but it is creamy, rich, and so luxurious. It applies super easily to the under-eye area without pulling or tugging as it is so buttery. 🤍MY HONEST OPINION🤍 I think eye creams are kind of useless, but there are a select few that I see the merits of, and this is one of them. I tried this because I got it as a sample with a Sephora purchase, and I’ve been trying it out for two months! I really like this! I haven’t seen results from the retinol on my crow’s feet yet, but this is super great for dry and irritated under-eyes. I already bought the full-size, because I have been enjoying using my sample so much. I can’t wait to see the long-term effects of this product. I would recommend this to a friend only if they were really looking for another eye cream. It isn’t THAT different compared to other eye creams, but I do really like it. The full size is $42 for .5 oz, which I think is really standard and fair for an eye cream because you need the tiniest amount and the jar will last forever. It is no harder to apply than a standard eye cream, as an eye mask is just a thicker eye cream, but you need to take a good 30 seconds to apply this gently. Not too much time, but it is not something you should speed through applying. Overal: 4/5 ⭐️ rating. I think this product is worth the price, and it is a unique, cool product. I look forward to continuing to use this!
