Dermologica: An Exfoliant and Face Mask in 1
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ After trialling Jurlique - Rosewater Balancing Mist I did a night routine to wash the hydration mist off my skin. I posted about this product yesterday if you’d like to know why I rated it a 1 Star ⭐️ My Mask of choice tonight was dermalogica - Hydro Masque Exfoliant the Masque hydrates and exfoliates in five minutes to smooth and renew for luminous, healthy looking skin. A full list of Ingredients are pictured, it’s long and I thought K Beauty had a complex list. 😱 The 5 Main ingredients are: 🧚‍♀️ Behenyl Alcohol, a good alcohol 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Derm Review say it’s rated as a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest risk to health and 10 being the highest. It functions as an emollient and emulsifier. 🧚‍♀️ Caprylic acid, one of the three fatty acids found in coconut oil. A medium-chain fatty acid with potent antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. 🧚‍♀️ Hydroxyethyl Urea as a humectant. Derived synthetically it helps maintain moisture. 🧚‍♀️ Propanediol, derived from corn sugar, a safe alternative to propylene glycol. A solvent, humectant and emollient. It draws moisture into the skin and softens. 🧚‍♀️ Cetyl alcohol derived from palm oil or coconut 🥥 oil and cetyl ethylhexanoate a synthetic ingredient from Cheryl alcohol used as an emollient. There’s jojoba, Betaine to protect skin against irritation, Bamboo extract to prime skin, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, an extract of the leaves of the Neem Tree with anti microbial, antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties etc etc etc..... Dermalogica say it’s has snow mushrooms 🍄 or Tremella Fuciformis to infuse skin with hydration and Vitamin D. It’s in the middle of the extensive ingredient list but it’s touted as a new hyaluronic acid although it only holds 500 times it weight in water 💦 - Skin Inc My thoughts 💭 It’s vegan, hydrating, paraben free, fragrance free, cruelty free and it brightens and hydrates. ✅ The texture is light and foamy. It has a light blue tinge and a very light fragrance. The beads dissipated easily and weren’t harsh on the skin. It apparently uses amino acids. Your welcome to translate which ones. I got tired. 😆 My skin looks plump and feels renewed and refreshed. All in all it’s got really great ingredients and my skin felt hydrated after a gentle exfoliation. I also appreciated the hydration after using the Jurlique - Rosewater Balancing Mist It’s pricey at $125 for 50 ml. ❌ I received a sample in a Adore Beauty Box. I gave it a 4 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because of the price. I’m torn as I really like this product and I would use it again. I’m just sweating on price. 🙃 Have you used dermalogica - Hydro Masque Exfoliant What did you think? 🤔 I’d appreciate any comments if you have. You may just tip that line of will I or won’t I purchase. Have a great day! Jade ☺️

Hydration Mists and Do I Need One? My Experience
Hydration Mists and Do I Need One? My Experience
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ So what are hydration mists? 🧐 If you're not familiar with them, face mists are liquids that you mist onto your skin via a spray bottle or atomiser. They’re not a necessary skincare item but can add benefits to your skincare routine. I received a sample of the Jurlique - Rosewater Balancing Mist in November. I have mature, combination skin. My issue is fine lines and wrinkles so I like to focus on hydration 💦 Jurlique say, face mists are formulated for specific purposes, helping to soothe skin, set makeup, tighten pores, nourish skin, protect against aggressors and give you healthy looking glow. After cleansing, close your eyes and spritz your mist around your face. 🧖🏽‍♀️ I used it throughout the day and planned to use it tonight. I haven’t done a night routine for a week so tonight’s going to be a good self-care 🧖🏽‍♀️ session. Jurlique - Rosewater Balancing Mist Ingredients, Aqua (Water), SD Alcohol 40-A (Alcohol Denat.), Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Rosa hybrid Flower Extract, Althaea officinalis Root Extract, Aloe barbadensis Leaf Extract, Fragrance/Parfum*, Glycerin, Propanediol, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid, Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Linalool*, Eugenol*. *From Natural Essential Oil (Rose - Rosa centifolia & Rosa damascena) My thoughts 💭 You immediately notice the🌹 scent. I’m not a fan of fragrance in skincare and this was cloying for me ❌ 🧚‍♀️ You feel your skin tighten thanks to the SD Alcohol 40-A (Alcohol Denat.), it causes your skin to contract. Derm Review say, its a controversial ingredient 🧐 When high concentrations of SD alcohol 40-A is used in the formulation of skincare products, it can cause drying and irritation. It can also cause erosion of the skin’s surface layer, leading to a weakened skin barrier. It’s at the top of the ingredient list 😱 ⚠️ I wouldn’t recommend for sensitive skin types, there was a slight stinging sensation on my first application and I had a reaction on my second 😞 🧚‍♀️ It felt tacky when you press it into your skin. Rose has a variety of good properties but it has astringent properties too and felt drying. It has Rosa hybrid flower extract, known as black rose, one of the world's most famous roses. Used so consumers feel like it’s a more luxurious product. 🤑 🧚‍♀️ Propanediol derived from corn sugar, a safe alternative to propylene glycol. A solvent, humectant and emollient, it draws moisture into your skin and also softens. ✅ It felt like a cash 💰 grab and rose my concern 😳 pun intended 🤣 PubMed noted, Ethylhexylglycerin (another ingredient) has been occasionally reported as an allergen. 13 patients presented with allergic contact dermatitis caused by ethylhexylglycerin from 1990-2015. This product raises so many concerns I’m tossing it! At least I’ll wash it off with my night routine. Would love to know your thoughts? 😁 Comment👇🏽 yes or no to using this? 🥂 Jade ☺️

My New Year Resolutions Update
My New Year Resolutions Update
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ Its been a week since we all celebrated New Years and I wanted to touch base with how I’ve been going with my new year resolutions. ☺️ I posted my goals last week. I had 5 goals 👇🏽 #1 Buy sustainable products #2 Journal my self care (skincare) routine #3 Eat more vegetables 🌽 , #4 join a yoga 🧘‍♀️ studio and #5 reduce my stress and anxiety. How I’ve been going? I’ve been tempted to purchase more product this week and didn’t. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Beauty’s, it’s so hard when I see great recommendations from our Cherie 🍒 community. 🤣 I’m determined to empty what I have. Luckily my Husband has the same skin type so I’ve asked him to try my Auquest 5 Second Wrinkle Cream this month. 🙃 I did a review after my 3 month trial and short version, it didn’t work for me. I’m currently using CeraVe - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotionas my new day cream. I purchased it in November. 😉 I started journaling my skincare but I’ve been pretty basic this week. Double cleanse, toner (once this week), serum, moisturiser and SPF. I haven’t been doing a night routine. My skin feels good so I’m trying not to overdo it. 😃 Biggest challenge was eating more vegetables 🌽 Do frozen mixed peas corn and carrots count. If so we had vegetables in three of our dinners. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I might need to order a fruit and veggie box to encourage more healthy cooking. Im the cook. 🙋🏽‍♀️ My last resolution was to join a Yoga studio which in turn helps with reducing my stress and anxiety. My picture is of me at Yoga class. I was the first to arrive so took a quick photo. 😁 I also liked how my skin looked. ☺️ I found an introductory offer for $40 for 2 weeks of unlimited classes. I started on 2 January and have been going regularly since. And I’ve increased my steps this week. I did on average 5000 steps but my goal is 8000 steps a day. I’ll keep moving. 🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♀️ We take the time to write down our goals but do we take the time to evaluate how we’re going. 🧐 I’d love to hear how other beauty’s have managed this week. I’m keeping focussed on improvements and not knocking myself if I don’t because we have only just started the new year and there’s 51 more weeks to go! ☺️ Have a wonderful day and hope to read posts about your journey soon. Jade 😁

The Benefits of Hemp Oil
The Benefits of Hemp Oil
Hey Beauty’s So Hemp Oil was my favourite trend last year. 😀 I started using FORMULA 10.0.6 - Rise of the Foam Blemish Busting Cleanser with Hemp and Salicylic Acid last year. Hemp oil is actually pretty inexpensive considering it can be used as a make up remover, moisturiser, overnight mask and hair conditioner. I’m trying to simplify my self-care routine this year and Hemp Oils multipurpose benefits has piqued my interest. 😁 Hemp Oil has a pretty scandalous history although it’s now viewed as one of the most hardworking ingredients for your skin. Health line say, its different from cannabidiol (CBD) oil, which is an extract of the cannabis plant and utilises hemp flowers and leaves for its production. While Hemp oil is an essential oil made from the hemp seed. It’s contains nutrients like, calcium, potassium, magnesium, copper, vitamin A, vitamin B1 (thiamin), vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin B5, vitamin B9 (folate), and vitamin D (of which it is the only plant source), along with a useful dose of the antioxidant vitamin E (tocopherols) as well as all 10 amino acids for protein building. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Benefits of Hemp Oil 🧚‍♀️ Perfect for hydrating skin, it contains omega fatty acids that help plump skin without clogging pores or non-comedogenic ☺️ 🧚‍♀️ Its anti-inflammatory properties can help diminish scarring and reduce redness 🧚‍♀️ It contains vitamin F and fatty acids known as oleic and linoleic acids. These acids play an important role in slowing the skin’s aging process and enhancing skin. Oleic and linoleic acids are responsible for making the outer layer of the skin strong. It enables the skin to retain higher amounts of water, which keeps it smooth, supple, and healthy. Wrinkles and fine lines that develop are significantly reduced. The fatty acids are also known to protect the skin against aggressors and threats that cause premature ageing 🧚‍♀️ It’s a good oil for oily skin types because it’s considered a dry oil so it absorbs quickly and isn’t greasy 🧚‍♀️ Hemp oil is also a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture into the skin. Instead of sitting on top of the skin the way some oils do, it's able to penetrate the skin, moisturising between cells and strengthening the cell matrix. So beauty’s I’m looking for recommendations, I’ve read a few product reviews but if you can recommend a great product or brand I’d really appreciate it. 😄 Just drop me a comment below. 👇🏽 Have a great day! Best Toners
Best Toners
It can be hard to find a toner that fits your skincare needs, so let me help you! I have recommendations for all skin types, but I personally believe that even if you have very oily skin your toner shouldn’t be stripping so all of these have hydrating properties. I have tried all of these toners and these are my favorites! GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow PHA+BHA Pore-Tight Toner 🌼Oily and Combination Skin🌼 Because this toner has exfoliating acids in it, it is very beneficial for those with oily or combination skin. It can help those who struggle with acne and blackheads as well (no matter your skin type). It gently exfoliates the skin while still providing hydration. I love the thick texture and the scent the watermelon extract gives it. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner 🌸Dry, Combination, Normal, and Sensitive Skin🌸 This toner is AMAZING if you are looking for hydration. It has so many amazing ingredients including colloidal oatmeal which is actually considered an skin protectant by the FDA due to its effective soothing properties. Because of this it can be listed as an active ingredient. This toner has a watery but slightly thick consistency I really like. peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner 🌼All Skin Types (Especially Dry)🌼 Out of all of these toners this is the one I think would work for pretty much everyone and is my personal favorite! It has acne fighting properties, it is SUPER hydrating (due to snail mucin being the first ingredient and addition of hyaluronic acid), there is no fragrance, and it sinks quickly into the skin. cocokind - Rosewater Facial Toner 🌸All Skin Types (Especially Combination)🌸 Rosewater toners are great for the skin. It is soothing, calms redness, and helps balance PH. This one in particular is my favorite. It uses one ingredient (rosewater) unlike other popular rosewater toners. If you have any tried any of these products or have any recommendations please let me know in the comments!

✨Guide to applying products to Dry or Damp Skin✨
✨Guide to applying products to Dry or Damp Skin✨
My dermatologist recommended this to me. This is a great guide for applying products. I found myself not seeing results from certain serums and moisturizers. I did a post previously about why hyaluronic acid should be applied to damp skin, but this guide is 10xs better . Most moisturizers , serums, and even toners are best applied to damp skin. Why? Prepping your face with water helps prepare you skin to absorb products better. Wet skin is more permeable than dry skin. They help the skincare product to travel deeper, which is why things such as Retinoids and Acids should be used on dry skin (unless it’s formulated in a cleanser). I like to useKORRES - H2Rose Hydrating Face Mist as a prep for my serums during the day. It’s very light and has added benefit and vitamin C. At night I use a regular spray mist/bottles You can get these at your local beauty supply store or dollar store. The only serum I don’t apply to damp skin is vitamin C & niacinamide. A correctly formulated vitamin C will be made to be Ph balanced and having damp skin could dilute the effects of the product. Niacinamide (especially with zinc) is made to be an oil/sebum controller. The logic in my head says oil and water doesn’t mix and that’s what I have to go on (lol). If you ever feel your hydrating serum or moisturizer didn’t give you.. well.. hydration try this ! #dermatologisttips (Photo cred maximumskin on IG)

The Ordinary AHA/BHA Update 😧
The Ordinary AHA/BHA Update 😧
This is honestly such a strong peel. I’ve had this same bottle for awhile now and I am just now getting low. Background: This a chemical peel comprised of 30% AHA (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric), 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid), Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin B5 Black Carrot Tasmanian Pepperberry. 💥AHA/BHA exfoliate the top layer of skin (epidermis) giving it a quick go to for blemishes, fine lines/wrinkles, and dark marks. (This is a high concentration of chemicals). 💥Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant which means it draws moisture to your skin. 💥Vitamin B5 is an anti inflammatory & a humectant 💥Black Carrot is an antioxidant 💥Tasmanian Pepperberry is a anti inflammatory, anti-oxidant & skin conditioner (also what gives the red color to this acid) How to use: 👉🏾 I now only use this peel once a month.. If you have/use other actives (retinol, acids, etc) then I also recommend this. This peel reaches so deep with a complex of acids, that using it once a week will really impact your skin! I found that using it once (or twice) a month has let my skin breathe. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 💥Use this for 10 mins **ONLY IF YOU HAVE USED ACID CHEMICAL PEELS BEFORE** . If not I recommend starting with 2-5 mins then working your way up 💥Apply with clean dry hands on a clean dry face. 💥 Do NOT apply dropper to skin. I recommend putting this in your hands and working on a thin layer. **DO NOT PUT A LOT ON YOUR FACE LIKE YOU SEE INFLUENCER DOING** 💥DO NOT USE A RETINOL, OTHER ACIDS, or VITAMIN C with this product during same routine. You’re just asking for over exfoliation. 💥DO NOT USE ON DAMAGED, PEELING, HEALING/SENSITIVE SCARS, OR ALREADY DRY SKIN (you will be sorry).

Hi there to the beauties of cherie!! If you’ve been told to be patient once, you’ve been told a million times! But what does that actually ... mean? Each active ingredient you add will promise a few specific results that you expect to see working. We’ve all had those moments where we buy a product that every review promised was a life saver, but after weeks of using it, our skin is no better for it. Here’s a simple and straightforward graphic to help you keep a realistic expectation of when you should start seeing results! having practical expectations also helped me to be kinder to myself by encouraging me to give my skin proper time and consistency. Love this honey bear
Love this honey bear
one use and I’m already hooked on the @briogeo don’t despair, repair! honey moisture mask 🤤 fun fact: when my dad retired he decided to take up bee keeping (standard retirement hobby, amiright?) so here are some fun facts about why honey rocks from a beekeeper’s daughter: 🐝 besides all of the good things you get from eating it, honey is also a natural humectant (aka retains moisture) 🐝 honey is an emollient (aka seals in the moisture) and has rich antioxidant properties 🐝 honey can promote cell growth, and can be used for wound healing and hair growth There’s so much more, but moral of the story is honey is pretty SWEET, isn’t it?! Yeah- you didn’t think you were gonna get out of here without a bad pun, did you? 😉 I love that @briogeo has ethically sourced organic honey for this mask and is supporting small-scale farmers integrate beekeeping into their practices. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BEEKEEPER AND #savethebees! And use this hair mask, bc is smells amazing and my hair is soft as silk now *kindly gifted, but if you had to listen to my dad talk about bees as much as I do, you’d have your own opinions too Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair!
