🖤 DIY Almond black nails on Press-Ons 🖤

The struggle to grow your nails and not break them is real. I rubbed them with castor oil all the time, but they just kept going *snap*. But I have small nail beds, and the almond shape is my favorite. And by painting press on nails, I think I saved time and money. I did it in 2 steps: 🌟 Step 1) Glue your press-ons. I used the KISS - Kiss Salon Acrylic Natural Nails Forbidden Stiletto Shaped Nails
from Amazon. I had to shave the edges of the smallest nails to fit mine, but the acrylic material is REALLY strong. I can hear the click clack of my nails on my phone while typing 😆 It comes with a glue I just applied directly to my clean nails. Then you need to act fast- press the acrylic firmly on your nail. It’ll be dry in 10 seconds, really. Careful, though~ It CAN tug and bond your skin together 👎🏼 my only criticism besides size is that the glue stick hurts to squeeze. It’s tiny and tough to release a little bit at a time, but still- a softer grip would be nice. 🎨 Step 2) Paint time I used the Sally Hansen Xtreme wear polish in 629) Black Out. 🌑 Here’s a review of each: ORLY - Orly Base Coat & Top Coat
One of the best base coats imo. With regular polish on my natural nail, this has prevented chipping for up to 5 days. It has a tiny orange tint, evening out nail tone like a primer. Sally Hansen - Xtreme Wear Nail Polish
In two coats, this black was super opaque. It’s a true black, not blue-tinted or brown. But as shown in pic 3, 1 coat is a little translucent under the sun. The polish also smells more like chemicals, stronger than other brands. Still, it delivered in the color department. essie - Gel.Setter Top Coat
I love this little one. It’s thick and viscous, but way glossier than traditional lacquer top coats. It made my nails shine like a mirror. Don’t lay it all at once to avoid air bubbles, but pick this up if you like extra glossiness. 🌰 On nail shapes: Almond Some people label this as stiletto nails. I think it’s more almond because the end is round instead of sharp and pointy Almond nails give the illusion of a longer nail than square, oval, or ballerina nails do. I thought fully sharp stiletto nails would look too vampiric for my taste, but that’s just me. But if you get these nails and want them to be sharper, you can definitely file them They’re flexible enough to fit comfortably, but strong enough for reshaping. 🌹 FINAL NOTES 🌹 I’m happy with each of these products, all things considered. Something about applying polish to press on nails also feels like it dries faster. This method doesnt have the same security as salon-grade acrylics. I had to re-glue my pinky nail last night. 💫 But if you want DIY acrylic nails, this is worth a shot.

MY CURRENT FAVE DRUGSTORE POLISH
Do you ever love a nail polish colour so much that whenever it’s time to do your nails, you just put the same colour on again? That’s how I feel about this peachy nude polish from Maybelline. It’s from their Super Stay line and it’s called Poet. I got this bottle at Chemist Warehouse for NZ $7-ish, and it’s quickly shot to my favourite colours list. What do I like about it? ➡️ It has a REALLY opaque formula. This nail polish is really a one-coater in every sense of the word. I can get away with applying one coat of this before topcoat, but it feels wrong to only do one! It’s flawless in two coats and always looks perfect. ➡️ The wide brush makes application easy. Seriously - the wide brush fits my cuticles so easily that I can get in there and close without flooding them. I’m pretty sure that these are the standard for nail polish these days, but it never goes unappreciated because it makes it so much easier to get perfect nails. ➡️ It definitely lasts 7 days (and more) If you follow me on my blog, you’ll know that I strongly believe in the importance of topcoat and basecoat making a manicure last. However, even without topcoat, I found that this polish lasted the full 7 days. I actually got 10 days wear with my full top/basecoat routine of essie - Gel.Setter Top Coat and duri - Rejuvacote 1 Nail Growth System .

Nail accent
I love doing a simple look with an accent. Adding a glitter top coat to one nail does just that for me 😍😍essie - Luxeffects Glitter Top Coat in shade “A Cut Above”. This is a clear nail polish with lots ld pink glitter “confetti” pieces. essie - essie Enamel Nail Polish in shade Ballet slippers- a translucent pale pink shade. This is a great pinky nude nail polish for fair-light skin tones. This is such an easy look to achieve- all I did was apply two coats of Ballet slippers to all my nails, except my ring finger- For that nail I applied one coat. The second coat was the glitter luxe top coat in “a cut above”. I followed up with essie - Gel.Setter Top Coat on all my nails to achieve that gel polish finish. This is also great because it helps your nails dry faster! The one thing I will say about the essie - Luxeffects Glitter Top Coat polish is that its hard to remove since all the glitter pieces are solid pieces that dont come off with acetone. They need to be scraped off with a nail scraper (a flat end) . Having a coat of nail polish underneath the glitter helps in the scraping process since you wont be directly scraping your nail.

🩰 OPI Dulce de Leche is Stunning
So I wrote about my experience painting on press-on nails in my last 🖤Almond black nails 🖤 post. I used the same acrylics, base coat, and top coat in that post as in this image. If you like the look of this almond-shaped base, I suggest you read that post! Otherwise, I’m gonna review 2 other products today! OPI Dulce de Leche and Sally Hansen Dry & Go Drops. 🥮 OPI - OPI Nail Lacquer 🍑 COLOR- I found this color through reddit, where it got a lot of love from Laqueristas. It seemed to be universally loved for all skin tones. It looks nude or even cool toned on lighter skin. On darker skin tones, it tends to look like a warmer pink I’m hesitant to call it a universally flattering color because there’s a wide range of skin tones. But since it looks cool or warm depending on the setting, I think it’s a good first nude pink to test if you’re new to polish One more thing: on myself, it looks a LOT better on long nails than short nails. On short nails, it somehow looked too dull and blended in. Longer nails suited it more for me to make it look elegant and bring out its rosy tones. 🏹 PERFORMANCE- This color went on opaque in 1 coat! To be fair, I laid my first coat on thick. But there’s no need for a third coat to get vivid color at all It went on even, not patchy or runny. Plus, the brush is a little flat to help even application. I liked it more than the thin brush a lot of Essie products give you to work with (though I think they’re changing the packaging.) It didn’t take too long to dry- maybe an hour, though I got help from the next product. 🌊 Sally Hansen - Salon Manicure Dry & Go Drops I put two drops of this product on each nail. It covered it completely. In between coats, I didn’t wait more than a minute for each to dry. This solution feels like it creates a protective thin coat around your nail. 5 minutes after application, you can safely (though gently) touch the surface of your nails together without damage. What you CANT do though is put a lot of pressure on it. That will cause a thick smudge that looks like beautiful ocean ripples of dulce de leche. But the product is worth it because it protects your nails from surface level nicks. 🍯 WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT ? 🍯 Yes, 100%. I’ve used patchy, uneven nude polishes before. This is not one of them. I can see why it’s a classic. Almond shaped nails are my favorite because of how elegant they look, but this color would also look STUNNING on ballerina shaped nails. 🩰

this week’s at-home mani/pedi 💅🏾💦 poolside!
we just got back from a lovely staycation, which gave me some good opportunities to relax and pamper. i tried another mani.me product - this time its ManiMe - To Have and To Hold . the design was really cute - the majority of the nail is a sheer pink shade, and there is a silver moon at the cuticle. it’s very similar to my wedding manicure! mani.me was pretty easy to use - the only trouble that i have is smoothing down the edges for a few of the nails. i have shorter nails, so i use a nail clipper + file to get a close, smooth final look. for toes, i used all of my holy grail products - ORLY - Orly Base Coat & Top Coat as the base coat, OPI - Long Lasting Nail Polish Infinite Shine 2 in ‘put it in neural’ core color, and OLIVE&JUNE - Nail Polish Topcoat for my top coat. all of these products *just* *work*. i have been doing at-home manicures since the start of COVID lockdown and these are my favorites in each category.

this week’s at-home mani 💁🏾‍♀️ with OPI!
i used to exclusively wear lavender nail polish - it’s feminine, flirty, a little unexpected ... but still pretty neutral and (dare i say) professional (at least a little bit!). i was so happy to come across this OPI - Infinite Shine Nail Polish Strengthening in ‘polly want a lacquer?’ it’s a gorgeous spring/summer shade. the infinite shine formula is pretty sturdy - i can go at least five days with no chips, which is pretty good for a non-gel polish. i definitely want to check out more of these shades. i can’t reiterate enough that ORLY - Orly Base Coat & Top Coat and OLIVE&JUNE - Nail Polish Topcoat are the best base and top coat products that i have tried. the olive & june product even creates a gel manicure-like look - i highly recommend these products.

💖Only 5 steps and you'll get fancy pink ombre nails🤗!
💖Only 5 steps and you'll get fancy pink ombre nails🤗!
Hey, sis! I got a new nail look!💅💅 Last week, I successfully did pink ombre nails at home. The ombre is a recent nail art trend, which really looks fancy and I think these are the best nails I've ever had. I surprisingly found it quick and easy to paint and you can probably do as soon as you finish reading this simple tutorial!   Paint nails with a nude colour. You can also choose white. Some colours blend better with a white base colour. Wait five minutes or until your nails are completely dry. Carefully align the make-up brush with the pink nail polish to your nails and gently dab it onto your nails until they are completely coloured. Don't stress yourself about being neat at this time as we will clean these up later. Immediately after dabbing one nail, gently apply a top coat to smooth colours and blend them in even more and then cure the first color coat in your LED or UV lamp. Repeat the fourth and fifth steps to ensure good color coverage and a smooth. Wait until your nails are completely dry. The final step is to dip your Q-Tip into your make-up remover and clean up the areas around your nails and finish with a nourishing cuticle oil.   Isn't that very simple?!Hope you would love my "artwork" and this post can help you !💕

y’all asked- full how-to for my rose nails! 🌹🌹
y’all asked- full how-to for my rose nails! 🌹🌹
hey y’all! a while ago I posted a video of my rose nails but didn’t attach a tutorial... well, ask and you shall receive! read on for the full tutorial! 🌹step one- start with your base color! •for this manicure, I chose a nude color close to my skin tone; however, you could choose any color that would compliment the color of the roses. •start painting your nails with the color of your choosing. the brush should start just above your cuticle. push the brush towards your cuticle, then pull back across the rest of the nail. repeat this process to cover the sides of the nail. 🌹step two- paint the roses •for the roses, I used two shades of red, one darker than the other. •start with your lighter shade. paint slightly irregular circles on your nails in varying sizes- you want the circles to have a bit of a wavy edge to mimic petals. •once the first color has dried completely, outline the roses in the darker color, and make little half circles inside the roses to look like petals. 🌹step three- add some leaves •i used two shades of green for the leaves. •start by painting little leaf shapes in the empty spaces around the roses. •once the first color has dried completely, outline your leaves in a darker shade of green. 🌹lastly- some finishing touches! •use some acetone to clean up your fingers and finish with a glossy top coat. enjoy! happy painting! xoxo abra

Grow Strong & Healthy Nails✨💅🏻 #CheriePartner
Grow Strong & Healthy Nails✨💅🏻 #CheriePartner
Here are my secrets to growing strong & healthy nails: 1) Stop using acetone nail polish remover (or ones with strong alcohols) as they can really damage the nail. I used to use any kind of nail polish remover that got my polish off fast. But I noticed that over time, my nails got more brittle and dry even with cuticle oil. That’s when I decided to switch to an acetone and alcohol free nail polish remover like ella+mila - Soy Nail Polish Remover Unscented (which is an oil-based soy formula). I’ve noticed that instead of stripping my nails when removing the polish, it actually moisturized my nails at the same time! Now my nails are back to its original, strong condition! 2) Oil your cuticles AND your nail beds everyday! Just make it part of your routine. I’m sure you have a makeup routine or a skincare routine- just add this in as the last step (or first!) of a routine that you already do. Oiling your cuticles with something like CND - Solar Oil Nail & Cuticle Treatment will help promote healthy growth of your nails, and help to moisturize your skin around your nails. It can immediately improve the look of your nails or manicure and will give longterm results!
