Different detangling tools do different things
There are so many different ways to detangle your hair. There is a paddle brush, which is a large and flat brush with air cushions and plastic bristles. It is very flexible due to the air cushions that the bristles sit and and that helps contouring to your head and hair shape. Paddle brushes are great for detangling and smoothing out hair. Next, there is the wide tooth comb, which have large teeth to comb through the hair. They can be made from plastic or wood and are great for detangling and even parting hair. These are the most like fingers when it comes to detangling and cause less ripping compared to other methods. On the opposite end of wide tooth combs are fine tooth combs which can be used to detangle, but are less recommended because the fine teeth snag and rip hair. You can also detangle hair with a regular hair brush, your fingers, and other specialized detangling tools. For your edges, you want to brush them out with a soft edge brush or soft toothbrush. Also, you can comb them out with an edge comb or fine tooth comb but just be caution because edges are very fragile and require good care. I personally like going in with different detangling methods throughout my wash day and styling process. I usually start off with a quick detangling using my fingers to get out difficult knots that the mechanical tools may rip through. I then go in with the wide tooth comb and make multiple passes until it goes through smoothly. Finally, I use a brush (paddle, detangling, or regular depending on what I pick up) and go through my hair again until smooth. This usually ensures me the best detangling process. Also, it is important to remember to detangle only when hair is wet or damp and best when there is product applied to minimize breakage.

The best hair detangler specially if your hair is thick! I love this one and I bought it from Winners for 8$ and it is super worth it. I tagged a product but it’s not from the same place but it’s exactly the same! Also, when you’re brushing your hair and it’s hurting your scalp it means you are doing it too hard! Please be gentle!! Take care of your hair as much as you take care of your face 🤗
Detangling Hair without Damage & Pain!
Just because we’ve grown out of our kids detangling shampoo doesn’t mean we’re any less inclined to getting annoying tangles than we were in our youth. Between trying new hairstyles, teasing for volume, and even just sleeping on our hair, we still need to address knotted strands once in a while. To save hair from damage and breakage when detangling, here are some tips to do it safely. 1. Use wide-tooth combs Choose your tools carefully, especially if you have fine or damaged hair that’s prone to breakage as well as tangles. Skip the hair brush and choose a sturdy wide-tooth comb to gently detangle dry or damp hair. PATTERN - Wide Tooth Comb 2. Condition with hair masque A good conditioner or mask helps to keep tangles at bay. It is ok to comb your hair in the shower while it’s wet. I use Maria Nila Pure Volume hair masque, a gentle lightweight treatment for fine hair that moisturises hair without weighing it down. It contains Vitamin B5 to add moisture and long-lasting volume. To use, coat the hair in conditioner or mask and let it sit for a few minutes, then use your wide-tooth comb to run the conditioner through your hair from mid-shaft to tip. This will help immensely to loosen knots, and it’ll also help distribute conditioner throughout the hair so that all your bases are covered. Hydrated hair strands will also be less prone to breakage and tangles! I use this masque at least once a week for healthy, silky hair. US$31 for 250ml Maria Nila - Pure Volume Masque 3. Start from bottom If you have been yanking hair with a brush or comb down from your roots to the tip, your hair will be more prone to breakage, split ends, and even hair loss. Instead, start first by combing the bottom few inches of your hair, then work upward, combing down as you go. 4. Use fingers Your fingers are your best friends to untangle knots in ways that a brush or comb just can’t. Gently pulling apart the tangled strands patiently will incur far less damage than simply combing through the knot over and over again. Once you’ve got it mostly undone, you can then spray on detangler and go in with your comb to smooth things out. I comb my hair with my fingers and only brush it when it’s almost dry.
A Quick & Voluminous Wash & Go!
Yes, you read that right a quick and voluminous wash and go. Are you the type of curly headed that hates to spend hours and hours waiting for your wash and go to dry and try to avoid diffusing? Do you also love volume? If you answered yes to either of these questions than this is for you. To get this wash and go I used only two products a leave-in conditioner and a curling cream. I used the Italy Linange leave-in conditioner which contains ginger and garlic. This leave-in conditioner leaves the hair super soft and provides my hair the moisture that the curling cream doesn’t give. I got this at my local beauty supply for 14.00 Pros: soft and moisturize hair Con: contains silicones The curling cream that I used for this wash and go was the Shea Moisture curl enhancing smoothie. This cream gives my hair a lot of definition, volume and a very soft hold. I love to use this cream when I’m in a rush or don’t want to spend a lot doing my hair since a wash and go can be really long sometimes. Pros: soft and define curls Con: does not give enough moisture to use alone SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie linange - Ginger and Garlic Leave-in Conditioner

My favorite hair style for my square/heart face
Hey guys! I am so excited to share with you how I achieve my favorite hairstyle for my face shape. Please note I’ll be adding tips for every hair texture, but I personally have naturally curly hair that is thick and dry. Here’s how I achieve my voluminous, bouncy curl look: 1. Wash your hair. Today I co-washed my hair (who can relate???) with the new Briogeo Kiwi mask, which is such a great moisturizer for my dry curls! Briogeo - Be Gentle, Be Kind Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfoods Hair Mask 2. Grab a frizz control gel if you’re naturally curly, or a curl gel if you’re not! I personally use a combination product—“curvaceous frizz gel for spirals” by Redken. The brand doesn’t matter as much but this is a fabulous gel! REDKEN - Curvaceous Ringlet it causes NO CRUNCHY CURLS!!! 3. Finger comb the product through your hair. If you don’t have a lot of hair or your hair is thin, only use 1/2 of a pump or 1 pump. If you’ve got a lot of hair or your hair is thick, use 1-2 pumps. If you feel like it’s making your hair too sticky then wet your hands and finger comb back through your hair until it feels right. 4. If you’re naturally curly, you can use a reverse-claw-arcade-game motion with your hands from the ends of your hair up to your scalp, in a “scrunching” motion. If you’re not naturally curly, you can scrunch your hair up and either pin in up or clip it up. 5. You can blow dry your hair or let it air dry if you have time. I recommend letting it air dry to control frizz even more! My hair takes about 7-10 hours to fully air dry. 6. MARVEL AT YOUR BEAUTIFUL CURLS, YOU GORGEOUS CREATURE! 7. From here, you can style it even more, like pinning certain sections back or you can leave it as is. My favorite thing about this style is by using the curl gel, your curls can last TIL THE NEXT DAY! Do you like wearing your hair curly or straight better?

Wavy Hair FINALLY Curly!
I think I finally perfected my routine for how to make my wavy hair CURLY! I have wavy (in between 2b and 2c) hair that is as dry as the desert. As a result, my hair usually can’t hold a curl well and is a frizzy mess by the end of the day. That is, until I tried this routine last night after my shower—my curls (in the last picture) held up all night and even in the humidity! 😍 1. function of beauty - Custom shampoo + conditioner I started using FOB maybe about 2 years ago after working in and around chlorinated pools full-time. My hair was dry, brittle, frizzy, and just an absolute rat’s nest. Picking my own “hair goals” gave me a super hydrating formula that honestly saved my hair. I don’t work in pools anymore, but I continue to use this formula to combat the drying effects of a medicated shampoo I use that similarly strips my hair. ✨ The biggest change I made in my routine is that I conditioned my hair FIRST. I let the FOB hair mask soak in my hair for a few minutes and then detangled it before moving on to my medicated shampoo, then the FOB shampoo, then finishing with the FOB conditioner. I think this double-condition combated the drying effects of my medicated shampoo better than just using conditioner once at the end. 2. SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk After I detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb and rinse the conditioner out, I take about a quarter size amount of this product and put it through my hair ends to roots. I also try to roughly section my hair to make sure its equally dispersed, and then I detangle one last time with a wide tooth comb. 3. Miss Jessie's - Jelly Soft Curls I just purchased this gel and I LOVE it. I’ve stayed away from gels for a long time because I thought they would weigh down my hair and cause build up on my sensitive scalp, but this was not the case at all. I took a slightly-larger-than-a-quarter sized amount and scrunched this product in wet hair (you should hear a little squish when you scrunch!). I also flipped my hair over before I scrunched to give my hair some volume. 4. Plop your hair! I watched Tik-Toks honestly to learn how to do this 😅 I used a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt, and I let my hair sit for about 45 minutes (would’ve been longer but I had places to be). 5. After I took my hair out of its plop, I parted it where I wanted and used the FOB leave-in treatment to re-scrunch my hair where it fell. Then I just let it air dry while I was out and about! You definitely don’t need to use all of the same products (I love Function of Beauty but it can be pricey, especially compared to drugstore brands), but out of everything, I think the double conditioning, the Miss Jessie’s hair gel and plopping my hair made the biggest impact. Hope this helps anybody with wavy hair to define their curls!

Curly Hair Routine
Hey guys! This is my current hair routine 🤗👩🏽🦱 ~ i was my hair about 3 times a week ~ All my life i disliked my hair. It was super frizzy, unmanageable, and I was very insecure about it, up until this year. I stopped being lazy, educated myself on my hair type and was able to find beauty in my natural hair. Now i absolutely love doing my hair! it’s a lot of work & takes a lot of effort but i wouldn’t trade it for anything else. 💋 Now for the breakdown of the products: tgin - Rose Water Leave-In Conditioner Right after my wash i apply this leave in conditioner and rake it through my hair, making sure it covers every strand. I absolutely love the smell of this!!! Carol's Daughter - Hair Milk 4-in-1 ''Combing'' Crème Then i apply this super lightweight creme. It is very hydrating & smells soooo good. I’ve also noticed this product definitely makes all the difference in my hair. Support black owned businesses!! 🖤 DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler After i flip my hair upside down and begin scrunching this product throughout my hair. What i love about this product is that it does exactly what it’s names. Super soft gel that does not leave a nasty crunch feel behind. Great for holding that shape. Lastly i diffuse my hair till it is about 80% dry ogx - Nourishing Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist I finish it off with this spray, it’s great, efficient and inexpensive! & that’s it! 💞💓💗 Let me know if you guys try any of these out. Would you guys like more hair related posts? If you have an other suggestions or questions please leave a comment! 🤍

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.2 DAYS AGO
