Acne-Prone Skin? You Should Treat Your Skin Like This!
Do you know your skin? What is your skin concern? If it is to deal with oiliness, inner dryness, breakouts, or sensitivity, then you have come to the right place. In order to get the best skin possible, there are a few do’s and don’ts, which I have learned the hard way. So, I hope this will help you avoid the mistakes that I have made in the past and improve your skin through the following tips. · Products that have worked for me: Clinique Moisture Surge 72 Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator + Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen Product 1: The Clinique Moisture Surge is my favorite moisturizer to date because of its refreshing texture and hydration power. Like I mentioned before, I have extremely oily skin but suffers from inner dryness, and as a result, I often face the dilemma of choosing light moisturizers that cannot quench my skin’s inner thirst or hydrating face creams that feel way too heavy for my oily skin until I tried the Moisture Surge. It is the perfect mix in the middle. Texture: Its texture is in-between a gel-type and cream-type moisturizer, which is lightweight enough for me. Upon application, it absorbs fairly quickly, and my face feels refreshed and hydrated throughout the day. I love the plump and dewy finish it leaves on my skin! Product 2: Sunscreen is an essential part of my skincare routine, and I have gone through countless sunscreens, finally landing on this holy grail of mine, the Hydro Boost Sunscreen. Texture: As the name suggests, its texture is very watery and melts into the skin instantly without being greasy or suffocating on my skin. Most sunscreens tend to break me out or leave a white cast that just makes my face look weird. Fortunately, this sunscreen does none of that. Instead, it leaves my skin feeling refreshed and protected from sunlight. Wrong match: On a side note, even though those products work well for my skin individually, they do not match well with each other. The face cream tends to be too slippery for the sunscreen to set on top. Nothing too serious though! · Skincare routine do’s and don’ts: Lifestyle: Last but not least! Treating your skin concerns from the outside is never going to be enough. Start changing from the inside too! Exercise plenty, but do it without makeup because the foundation will clog the pores and lead to breakouts. Sleep is your biggest friend to counter dark circles! It also helps to regenerate and repair the skin cells, allowing for healthier-looking skin. I also noticed that my skin is less oily when I get plenty of sleep.
Skin concerns: firmness, Fine lines & wrinkles
I’m 40 now but since my mid 30’s I have been on search for the perfect night cream to help with firmness (elasticity), hydration, and help with my fine lines & wrinkles. I have purchased several Elemis products before & absolutely loved the Elemis anti-aging Eye serum. I have read & heard so many good things about there night cream, I decided to give it a try. I have been using this now for 5 months every night before bed & I feel in love 😍 The texture is thick, rich & creamy but doesn’t feel heavy on your face or leave your face feeling greasy. It has this soft calming smell, that is so relaxing. My skin is just loving this product, it just drinks it up. You can start to feel it working the moment you apply it, Instant softness. They give you this little tool to dip in and a little bit of this product goes along way. The next morning after my first time using I woke up to my face feeling amazing, very hydrated, super soft and smooth. Over the next few weeks I noticed that my pores were looking more refined, my skin looked dewy and more youthful. I noticed my fine lines on my forehead Were not as noticeable, and my complexion looked more uniformed & glowy. It Definitely helped calm down the redness from my rosacea, and has helped immensely with my dry skin. This product overall has left my skin feeling soo much healthier, brighter and youthful. I highly recommend this product to anyone over the age of 30 that is looking for a great night cream to help delay the signs of aging. It’s pricey at $120 to $160 per bottle but it is worth it. 5/5 ⭐️ If you sign up for Elemis text you get 15% off your initial purchase and they will let you know when they’re having sales which they do a lot. Review my AM routine for acne-prone skin
My current AM routine consists of a mix of products I’ve used for a long time and products I recently started using. I’m noticing improvements with the addition of the new products already, and it’s only been 4-5 days. Here’s the breakdown on each product: Cleanser: Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser In a previous post I had rated this cleanser a 5/5; however, I recently learned that this product contains several ingredients that are irritants, allergens, hormone disrupters and/or carcinogens. This has knocked my rating down. I have not experienced any negative effects using this cleanser in the past and I have been using it for over 1 year. I am considering looking for an alternative product after what I found in my research. Toner: VERSED - WEEKEND GLOW I recently started using this product and I am happy with the results so far. I am on day 5 currently and I feel like I am seeing brighter skin. I am skeptical of toners and this is the first one I have used in years. So far, so good! Acne treatment: #CVS Health - Targeted acne spot treatment 2.5 % benzoyl peroxide acne medication[products]#[FiveStars] this is a generic version of a product I’ve posted about previously. It’s perfect for spot treatment or all over use in acne-prone areas due to the lower percentage of benzoyl peroxide. This product was recommended by my current dermatologist to treat my acne. It works just as well as the name brand and is less expensive. Serum: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I am loving this serum so far! I’m on day 4 and I am noticing improvements in oil production and the appearance of my pores and acne marks already. It can feel a smidge sticky going on but otherwise I have zero complaints with this product! Eye Cream: OLAY - Total Effects Anti-Aging Eye Treatment Eye Transforming Cream I really like this eye cream. I feel like it always brightens up my under eye area and I have relatively few wrinkles and puffiness in the area thanks to this cream. My only complaint is that I wish it was cheaper. Moisturizer: Cetaphil - Facial Hydrating Lotion This is another product that I had rated higher in a previous post. I have been using this moisturizer for over a year and was disappointed when I found out that it contains ingredients that are allergens, irritants and/or hormone disrupters. I’ve never experienced negative effects with this product;however, I’m now considering looking for an affordable alternative. Otherwise, I have always loved this light yet ultra hydrating lotion. Lip moisturizer: Aquaphor - Lip Repair, Stick, Immediate Relief, Fragrance Free, 1 Stick I love aquaphor! It’s been keeping my lips smooth and moisturized for years. I recently switched from using the ointment to the lip stick and I’m loving it so far. Both work great at keeping my lips hydrated!

Oily / Acne-Prone Skin Deep Cleanse Routine
Every once in a while, it is important to do a deep cleanse for your skin to prevent sebum and dead skin build up that will lead to break outs and enlarged pores. It is like doing house cleaning, which is necessary for everyone regardless of your skin type. However, since my face produces a lot of oil, I tend to break out more, and I have developed a deep cleanse routine that really helped with alleviating my acne problems. Step 1 – Cleanse Product: Neutrogena (Deep Clean Facial Cleanser Normal to Oily Skin) Firstly, I need to get rid of all the dirt and impurities on the surface of my face to get into cleaning the deeper layers of my skin. I use this cleanser because it has a strong cleaning power that removes the oiliness of my face without stripping off the hydration. It is in a gel texture that lathers into foam. Step 2 – Exfoliate Product: Dermalogica (Daily Microfoliant) This step is to get rid of all the dead skin cells being built up on the face that are the main causes of rough skin, dullness and acnes. The product has become one of my favourite products because my skin feels much brighter and smoother every time after I have used it. It is in a white powder form and turns into foam when it touches water. Because it is meant to be a daily exfoliate, it is very gentle on the face, however, I would not recommend exfoliating every day because it will destroy your skin’s barrier, and I have noticed that my skin becomes more fragile and red if I use it too often. Step 3 – Detox Product: Estée Lauder (NightWear Plus 3 Minute Detox Mask) I always like to follow up with a clay mask that draws out impurities from deep under the skin and helps control the oiliness of my face. This visibly reduces black heads of my skin if I keep up with this routine regularly. This product smells like fresh cucumber, which I enjoy, and has a very cooling sensation on the face. What I like the most about this product compared to other clay masks is that it dries very quickly because it is so thin. It leaves me with a clearer and smoother skin just after 3 minutes, which is great for lazy people like me. Step 4 – Sooth & Hydrate Product: Avene (Eau Thermale Spring Water) I use this mist to add another layer of moisture before I lock everything in with a moisturiser and to sooth my skin after exfoliation. The mist spreads very evenly, covering every part of my face, and feels very refreshing and cooling. Step 5 – Moisturiser Product: La Roche Posay (Toleriane Sensitive Crème) Lastly, I will rehydrate myself with a thicker cream than I normally use that has soothing properties to comfort my skin after going through the hash cleansing steps before. My skin feels very hydrated, smooth and plump after I use this cream. Also, it is not too heavy on the skin, and has no scent.

My Basic Skin Care Routine
Launched in 1968, Clinique premiered as the world’s first allergy tested, dermatologist-driven beauty brand at Saks Fifth Avenue in the New York. I I am currently on a basic Clinique skin care routine which works perfectly well on my combination skin (semi-oily T-zone and dry cheeks with the occasional breakouts on the forehead and chin). The brand is one of my favorites for its noticable clarifying effects without spending a big budget. 🌟Step 1: Take The Day Off Makeup Remover – 4.2oz / 6.7oz This make-up remover dissolves and removes my long-wearing makeup, even those layers of touch-ups added throughout the day. The liquid does not sting my face and feels gentle on my dry cheeks. To use: shake the bottle before using, then soaking a cotton ball or pad with remover. Cleanse one eye area at a time by applying to eye area and holding it for several seconds, then wipe with downward strokes. Repeat using fresh cotton ball if necessary. The remover can even tackle my long lasting lipstick (check my lipstick review) and waterproof mascara without drying my lips and eyes. Score! 🌟Step 2: Liquid Facial Soap Mild – 13.5oz I believe in a powerful yet gentle cleanser as a clean face is everything to having great and plump skin. Clinique liquid facial soap is a considered a cult product. It cleanses any remaining residue on my face without stripping my face dry. On days that I skip make-up products, just the facial soap does it for me. The pump dispenses also helps me obtain just the right amount to clean. To use: lather facial soap between palms and massage over face and throat. Rinse clean and pat the skin dry. I use this twice a day as it does not cause my skin to feel too tight. 🌟Step 3: Clarifying Lotion 2 – 6.7oz / 13.5oz / 16.5oz Already a must-have in my bathroom, Lotion 2 helps me to wipe away any dead skin and make-up residue for a tighter smoother skin. After using this for years, I am always assured that my face is indeed super clean, and it also helps to reduce the size of my pores. The lotion also helps the skin to better absorb the next step – moisturizer! Unlike other toners, Lotion 2 is not too drying for me and although it stings my face a little, I feel that it works best for my combination skin. To use: soak a cotton ball or pad, sweep over cleansed face and throat twice daily. 🌟Step 4: Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel – 1.7oz / 4.2oz / 6.7oz Like Lotion 2, this moisturizer is one of my all-time favorites and although I do switch between different brands, I find myself going back to this one if I just need a a suitable moisturizer for my skin. This formula is best for oily combination or oily skin types, hence it is perfect for me to use all over the face and neck during warmer months or coupled with a strong serum in winter. I can spread the oil-free lightweight lotion across my face easily without it feeling too greasy (even on my T-zone) and my skin absorbs it really quickly too. Its natural ingredients keep my skin moisturized without feeling oily for the whole day or night.
