My top 2 cleansers for acne/combo skin
Part 2 to my routine posts (see previous posts for full routine and in depth product description/reviews) My skin: I have combo skin with hormonal acne that is mostly on my cheeks and jawline. I have some bumps on my forehead and acne scarring on my cheeks. 🧚♀️Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser

Finally creating an actual skincare routine
I’m somewhat new to skincare. For the longest time I had the clearest skin but after college I started to get hormonal acne and some skin texture issues. Morning: Cleanser- LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin. I just got it a few days ago and so far I like it! Prior to this I was using Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser (which I still keep in my shower for after working out-this cleans my skin well but isn’t anything crazy special) Next: CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion - I really like this!! It’s absorbs quick and isn’t drying, often these types of products make my skin a little itchy but not this one! (I still use PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator but I do this every other day in the evening, it makes my skin very sensitive but it does work well) Spot Treatment: CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel - I’ve been using this for 2 weeks and I love it!! I notice a difference in any new breakouts, it stops them right in their tracks. Feels great too and soaks in nicely. Serums: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - trusty product that I will always use. I’m now adding in bareMinerals - Skinlongevity Long Life Herb Serumto help with my skin appearance and fine lines (~2 weeks of use and so far I like it, it’s hydrating and soaks into the skin. There’s a light scent that I don’t mind either) Moisturizer: CLINIQUE - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+- using for 2 weeks and I really it! It’s gel based so it’s absorbs right into the skin. I don’t like heavy moisturizers because they make me oily, so this one is great! Keeps my skin happy even in the colder weather! Nighttime: Same cleanser as morning Same clarifying lotion/exfoliate as mentioned in morning, and same spot treatment Moisturizer: NEW unreleased bareMinerals Ageless Phyto-Retinol Face Cream. I got a full size product for free during a featured event, I believe this will retail for around $62 and be released in the new year. I’ve been using it for 2 weeks and my skin seems to be liking it! It’s a thicker cream so I prefer it only at night. There is a somewhat strong perfume-like scent which I don’t normally mind, but if I use my PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator prior to the cream, it does make my skin a little tingly/itchy. I like that it’s a plant based “retinol” and is less harsh on the skin. Hoping this one works out! Other products: The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane- Bought this prior to getting the bareMinerals Phyto-Retinol Cream. I haven’t tried it yet so no review. Not sure where to add this to my routine if/when I decide to use it. Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum- I got this before my breakouts but haven’t used it since, might try to add
Acne Prone Skin Savior!!
LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin I have acne prone skin and although my breakouts have calmed down a lot since finally figuring out which products work for my skin, I still have acne and adding this cleanser into my routine has helped so much. I use this every other night after oil cleansing (if I use it every night I find it makes my skin a little sensitive) I’ve found that using about a nickel size amount, getting it to a full lather and letting it sit on your skin for at least 1 min allows the product to work its best! Plus it has menthol in it which smells so good and there’s something about lathering it up and smelling the menthol that’s so relaxing!! I would recommend this to anyone with acne prone/combination/oily skin and knows that they benefit from salicylic acid in their skincare!

My go to for the last 3 months
Okay so I can’t really say 3mos as this is only my week 2 of this routine!!!! MORNING‼️ I wash with Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser so far it’s been okay, I guess u get what u pay for but with that being said my skin is soooooooo sensitive that literally before finding Cherie would mostly just wash my face with a rag and 💦 ❤️I then go back in with GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water with Rose Water okay so I love this stuff, it don’t make my face feel nasty, I literally use a cotton pad and just wipe away what my first cleanser didn’t get!!!! ❤️I also take my Apostrophe - Spironolactone I’m supposed to take this daily but due to health issues I only take this every other day just to maintain my potassium levels, I’ve only been on this for 2wks and I have noticed a BIG CHANGE in my skin🙌🏽 ❤️I then top it off with Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion it definitely drenches your face with moisture BUT it makes me oily🚱 NIGHTIME ROUTINE‼️ ❤️I follow all the same steps above but I add in my Apostrophe - Topical Formula So far I’m in love with this, I’m already seeing changes in my skin and some of my scarring, I would definitely recommend this product/company🗣🗣🗣If u can’t afford to see a dermatologist or your insurance doesn’t cover it, this process is pretty cool, u literally do everything over the computer💻 or your phone📲your dermatologist will make up a regimen and it’s sent to u via mail🙌🏽With COVID in our lives this was a game changer❤️ Of course after my topical I once again moisturize my skin with Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion
Check out my skin journey in only 2 weeks!
Back story: Back at the beginning of November I had been on curology for the second time and it made my face feel worse, the face wash didn’t make my face feel clean so I bought one they recommended (Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser ) I continued to use the formula they gave me and it was just not for me. November 26 I spoke to my doctor and told her what I was going through and she put me on Doxycycline which helped with stopping the bacteria from producing but I still had the blemishes I had. I was desperate by this time, I didn’t know what to believe from youtubers(most are paid or sponsored= no trust from me) nor anything posted online and I was not about to try a million product because I know it takes time. That is when I came across this site and I started reading some real life stories and what people like me were going through! I saw some products that these people were using and I decided to give it a shot! Thank you to the ladies who posted their story! Your transparency and selflessness has help me with my confidence and most importantly my skin! Xoxo Story time! As you can see on December 20th my skin was nothing but clogged and congested. My self esteem was at an all time low. I would purposely avoid hanging out with my friends, I hated how make up would look covering the acne, I was honestly just not in a good place. I started reading stories from people like me and they were using CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin and CeraVe - SA Lotion For Rough & Bumpy Skin so I decided to give it a shot! On December 26 I decided to go to Walgreens and pick it up. Christmas was the day before and I was tired of how I was feeling (I was shying away from the camera with my own family and thats just not me, I wanted to go back to feeling like my best self) I followed my skin regimen religiously! After my shower I would brush my teeth and then wash my face and apply some lotion. At night I would do the same thing! Fun fact: I like to change my pillow cases every two days-week. First thing I noticed after the face wash is how clean my face felt but it didn’t feel dried out or congested it actually felt like soft skin. Jan 3: A week after I started using the face wash and lotion I started to notice the congested parts of my face were coming out. Jan 6: Like they say it has to get worse before it gets better. I thought I was reacting badly to the products but I read a little more and purging is real! Jan 7: My skin started calming down a bit with the redness but what had to come out came out! If you are going through this process dont get discouraged keep your skin care routine consistent! Jan 10: still have some blemishes but you can see the softness glow! I posted the pictures I posted with the dates so you guys can see the process. We are sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly not just the pretty!
The most GENTLE bha cleanse~
We've all heard of sailcylic acid, a BHA that penetrates deep to tackle sebum under your skin. Sailcylic acid is not exactly known for being gentle. It's really hard to find a gentle, sensitive safe cleanser that also has the tough ingredients to tackle acne. Except Aveeno - CLEAR COMPLEXION Cream Face Cleanser With Salicylic Acid When I first bought this I didn't read bc I'm dumb and genuinely used it as a cream for my tzone for a full week. That's exactly how gentle and creamy it is! Now to keep it gentle, you dont get a ton of BHA but there's def enough to feel an immediate effect once you rinse and dry. This may be too gentle on strong oily skin, but for out sensitive skin oily friends this is PERFECT to even use DAILY - and not to mention well-priced. Just remember even though this is suoer creamy to still moisturize~

WHY I NO LONGER USE A FACE WASH
I have struggled with bad skin most of my life. It was only about 5 years ago that a doctor told me I have PCOD. This was causing acne, redness, and inflamed skin. I started taking medicines, reduced dairy and now I don’t get pimples except during my period or when I consume sugar. One thing my doctor said and I also noticed, cleansers are not really essential. My mother has the most flawless skin and she never uses soap. So other than when am traveling or too lazy, I skip using face wash. I wash my face with cold water and apply some olive oil. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and clean it off with a warm cloth. Or I mix honey, turmeric, and milk. I use this 2-3 times a week. Trust me, this will change your life if you have oily or sensitive skin! If you must use face wash sometimes, try a basic one like Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser or Neutrogena - Clear & Defend Facial Wash

Saved My Skin? Cerave SA Cleanser one week later
So I bought the CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin One a week ago and decided to use it every morning and night for one week in replace of my regular cleanser. And I’m definitely happy with the results. It CLEARED my skin up a lot and made my pores less noticeable. My skin feels a lot smoother and looks a lot cleaner and clearer in person. I would definitely recommend this cleanser to any one with acne or pimples. Even if you just don’t have the smoothest skin or have noticeable pores. This cleanser is the cheapest at Walmart so I definitely think you should purchase from their.

Cerave Acne Cream Foaming Cleanser
This cleanser is 🥛🕊🍼CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser Cerave Acne Cream Foaming Facial Cleanser 4% Benzoyl peroxide is a gentle yet effective way to treat acne! Most benzoyl peroxide washes, creams or gels are way to harsh on the skin so that why I recommend the Cerave one. It has great ingredients to hydrate the skin such as ceramides, hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 ( niaciniamde) to sooth redness and hydrate your skins barrier. This is dye free and fragrance free which is great for sensitive and acne prone skin. The texture is a watery cream and foam. I absolutely love this cleanser and would recommend to anyone struggling with acne. I hope this helps! Feel free to ask any questions for me to answer in the comments ↧↧↧

Drugstore cleanser for oily - combo skin
Never thought I'd fall in love with this drugstore cleanser. Summer is here and I swear this stuff works so well with the current weather we're having. FYI, i do have sensitve, oily/combo skin. to the skincare gals & pals out there, this is a total STEAL! I used this when I was breaking out like crazy because of hormonal and mask wearing. Been using this for about a week and my pimples shrunk, helped my pimple marks fade and not a single breakout in sight! It's fragrance free and lathers pretty well, my skin did not feel tight or dried out after using it which is a plus. Definitely a staple piece for a low buy. If you have dry skin I probably wouldn't recommend this for you since it can be drying to your skin and might cause your skin to be flakey and tight in a bad way ✌🏻
LA ROCHE-POSAY -Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser for Oily Skin
My No-Fail Cleansing System!
Dry skin. Oily skin. Sensitive skin. Breakouts. Blackheads. This baby has you covered!!! I won't talk about the spin brush for long, but the VANITY PLANET - Spin Body Brush is the love of my life, so I'll probably do a separate review of it later. In short, it spins at the perfect speed, comes with all the attachments you could need, and feels nice to hold and looks good on a shelf/hanging in your shower etc. As for the cleanser, this is where the magic kicks in. While true it says it's for "oily skin," everywhere but my T-zone is super dry, and I occasionally get bouts of eczema. And it still moisturizes my dry areas while deep-cleaning my oily forehead and nose. Within a few weeks of using the LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser for Oily Skin , I noticed a significant decrease in my acne, and it seems like my breakouts are healed much quicker than they used to. It's a foaming cleanser, which I prefer, and when you need to, just attach the exfoliating brush on the spin brush, and enjoy coming out of the shower refreshed and with baby-soft, clean skin!
