Best breakout masks
Anyone else always have those go-to masks in their skincare arsenal for when the breakouts hit? I have two that I can always rely on to stop spots in their tracks and help to keep them at bay if I’ve been indulging in junk food or it’s my time of the month! They’re both quite different so I use them in different ways. If I can feel big cystic spots lurking under my skin then I use the Yes To White Charcoal Mud Mask. The white clay helps to draw out impurities, but unlike regular clay, it’s not as drying so doesn’t leave your skin with that tight, stripped feeling. It’s a really enjoyable mask to use if you don’t normally wear clay masks and it’s great for all skin types, especially combination like mine. I also love the applicator! You squeeze the product out onto a sponge tip which you then use like a brush to apply it to your skin. No mess!If a spot has appeared before I’ve had time to get it then I use The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid Mask instead. This one is a little stronger and can be drying so I tend to only apply it where it needs to be rather than all over. Salicylic acid is amazing for treating blemishes and preventing new ones from appearing by keeping pores clear. It’s also so good for oily skin – I have an oily T-zone so sometimes I just apply it there and it helps to prevent the dreaded shine. This mask is quite hard to remove so I apply it with an old makeup brush to keep my fingers clean, and I always use a damp face cloth to remove it instead of scrubbing at my skin. It’s totally worth the effort though because the salicylic acid works fast to get rid of those spots!

Before and Afters still in progress....
I truly don’t like doing before and afters especially when it looks like there’s barely any progress but I promise you my skin FEELS so much better than it looks and I’ve seen some amazing progress! I’ve tagged the products I feel have helped the most recently. It takes patience but little progress is still PROGRESS 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
1 week update
thanks to all lovely beauties out there to take their time and add a comment on my last post. I was devastated by breakout, i was having from last 2-3 weeks and nothing seems to be working. Well i guess too many exfoliants was making my skin too sensitive so now i am back to basics. I have started what i was doing in the beginning and that seems to be working just fine. I think i was selfish to have a great skin in no time 🥴. If someone is just curious what i am doing right now then lets go to products. AM: The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser sukin - Pore Perfecting Toner Blemish Control it has tree oil which is good for acne prone skin The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios XL Ultra-Light Fluid SPF 50+ as i have sensitive and oily skin this makes my face matte and oil free. I really like this one for oily skin or combination skin PM: The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser sukin - Pore Perfecting Toner Blemish Control The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (only on spots and acne 2-3 times a week) The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA (once a week) The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (once a week) The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque (once a week) The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane tea tree oil only on spots Even if i have listed so many items i feel i have very basic skin care routine as most of the products are being used weekly or only 2-3 times a week. But in the end this routine is working out for me and i am seeing good progress which makes me happy. Again thanks to all who suggested me before ❤️❤️
Yes to tomatoes detoxifying charcoal mud mask
So this was something I was never going to actually like but I ended up loving it and it has really made a difference in my skin. Yes to Tomatoes- Detoxifying charcoal mud mask is a washable mud mask I have been using for the last 5 months and it just makes my skin feel so clean and fresh. I mean when you put it on and as it is drying it feels very minty and cold. I personally like it when it feels like that. For the price of it you do get a good amount. Now, I do use mine every single day before bed. I will say when I first started using this I thought it wasn't going to do anything so I would make silly faces and take photos and send it to everyone on snapchat and looking back I feel bad for my friends now. But I know they laugh and we all laugh so if you get any type of face mask or mud mask make sure to take silly photos and make someone day/night better.
YesTo Mud Mask Review
Yesterday I used yesto - Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Mud Mask because I was breaking out and desperately wanted a mask. I found this one and decided it needed to be used at some point! Let me first say that I don't recommend you go out and buy YesTo without looking at the ingredients. All the masks I've seen have not ideal ingredients like alcohol or some kind of aluminum. Regardless, I used it! It was thick and I had to use a cloth to remove it. It felt fine, I could feel it working on a break out but it wasn't painful or irritating. I used the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutionlater that night and woke up with the break out gone. When I removed it it didn't feel like it had done much, and there was definitely still some mud that was undetectable except for a weird dull/grey look on my skin. I just used some micellar water to help with that. Overall, I don't recommend because of the ingredients. It didn't do any immediate harm, but it also seemed a little ineffective. Nevertheless, if you have it lying around it's still nice to have a mask on some times!
Great gentle exfoliating mask
I’m a long-time fan of The Ordinary, so when I saw this new mask in the Deciem store during a recent trip to Toronto, I snapped it up! I‘ve used their acid peel in the past and although I loved the results, it was very strong and stung my skin every time I used it. I was hoping this mask would be a gentler alternative, and thus far it’s lived up to my hopes. This mask claims to target lackluster tone and texture, including large pores and acne blemishes. The product is a creamy consistency, and a little goes a long way—a very thin layer is all you need. The mask dries to a matte finish within a few minutes, and when I wash it off it feels like there are some physical exfoliants—maybe the charcoal? Either way, it doesn’t sting my skin at all, and I think it’s really helped calm down my current breakout. This mask is more expensive than the acid peel, at $12 for 50ml, but it’s still very affordable. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a milder exfoliating mask that targets acne, large pores, and texture. The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque

Great value salicylic masque!
I have been using this weekly and honesty my combo, acne-prone skin loves salicylic acid. It’s one of my go-to ingredients for acne busting. This mask isn’t overly drying, especially if you tend to have oily skin like me. It is really hard to get off though, which sucks. But the mask is like 10-12 bucks at Sephora or on Deciems website. High quality product for a low price! Their BHA Peeling mask is also a holy grail for me. Worth trying for the price.

Affordable way to tame oily skin and acne
Some acne honesty: Just want to say first, that when I was seriously struggling with acne after going off birth control I know this helped, BUT this wasn’t a product that actually cured my acne. I think this mask is great and is an affordable way to treat oily skin and shrivel up blemishes, but for me it provided more short term relief. Just wanted to put that out there and be honest. I would describe this mask as a mini detox for your skin. Anytime I’m feeling like my skin needs a pick-me-up (feeling congested, noticing some blackheads or see a blemish starting to form). And I do see results almost instantly after using the mask. The good: + The salicylic acid does help tame clogged pores, acne and keep excess oils at bay. You will notice a difference almost immediately after and the next morning. + Doesn’t irritate the skin. + Provides some mild exfoliation, which leaves the skin smooth but not irritated. + AFFORDABLE. Gotta love it. + Easily accessible in Canada. We have a couple stores here where we can get the Ordinary products. Or you could just order from Sephora. + While the mask does harden after about 8 minutes, it doesn’t crack or get uncomfortable. + My skin feels clean after but not too tight or “squeaky”. The not so good: - I find the benefits to be fairly short-term (days / a week). - This won’t magically make your pores or acne go away. But it definitely helps! Worth it? Totally! It’s affordable, does its job and gives me an excuse to put on a face mask and watch a million YouTube videos. Would I repurchase? Yes, especially since it’s so affordable. PS The pic was supposed to be a play off of “mask and chill”... I tried 😅🧖🏼♀️
The Ordinary-Salicylic Acid 2% Masque
The Ordinary 2% Salicylic Acid Masque
The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque I’m usually a big fan of the ordinary products, since most of them are super affordable and effective. I’ve only been using this mask for about 3 weeks but I like it so far. The consistency is like a thick black cream, that’s really easy to apply with fingers or a brush. I used it all over my face the first time, and even though I only left it for about 8 minutes, it felt a bit drying on some areas. A couple of hours after using this, my blemishes really got to the surface and disappeared faster than usual. Now I only use it as a spot treatment or on areas that I have blemishes, because it can be drying. It works very well and is really effective for the low price. I recommend applying a thick layer or washing it off after a couple of minutes to not dry your skin out. I have sensitive skin and it doesn’t irritate my skin that way. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a effective affordable spot treatment or mask for blemishes! 4/5 stars because it can be a bit drying.

Great mask for acne!
The olehenriksen cold plunge pore mask is marketed towards all skin types, especially acne-prone, and contains clays and acids to help purify pores instantly. The clay helps to deeply purify and diminish pores and has a “cold” sensation when applied. The mask contains a green fusion complex with green tea to help absorb excess oil, snow willow and alpine willow herb extracts to help condition skin, and lactic acid (aha) and salicylic acid (bah) to help exfoliate and clarify pores. It targets acne and pore size and has a thick clay mask consistency, a bright green color, and a light essential oil scent. I have used it for months and bought it when it was on sale for ten dollars. I apply it after cleansing and really enjoy it because it gives an immediate cooling sensation when applied. After rinsing off, my skin feels clear and appears brighter. I think this mask is very effective and definitely helps to prevent breakouts by clearing pores. I would highly recommend it to anybody concerned about acne or visible pores, as this is my go-to mask when my skin is feeling congested. This product often goes on sale directly from the retailer and even if it wasn’t on sale, I would still buy it due to the effectiveness in clarifying my acne-prone and oily skin. This is a must try product and if given the chance, I would definitely recommend giving it a try! OLE HENRIKSEN - Cold Plunge Pore Mask

My best acne solution
A few months ago I was traveling and knew I was headed toward a terrible breakout (as always happens when I travel). While I was away I saw these pads and picked them up as a potential solution. I hadn’t used acne pads since my teen years, but I was intrigued by the salicylic acid, which while helping control breakouts is also a chemical exfoliator which can help promote brightness and pore size by sloughing off dead skin. To my surprise and delight these pads helped prevent and rapidly clear my breakouts! I ended up using the whole container and definitely plan on repurchasing. Even though these are marketed as max strength, I never found them to be drying or make my skin uncomfortable. Would definitely recommend for anyone trying to find a product to help with acne!
