Tell Rough Skin to Beet It!

GlowK
I’m 28 and I decided it was finally time to start adding retinol to my skincare lineup. I settled on Sweet Chef’s Sweet CHEF - Beet + Vitamin A Serum Shot
mainly because I wanted to try out the brand, but I’m so glad I did! I’ve been using it for almost two months so I figured it’s finally time to give it a review From sweet chef: “The Beet + Vitamin A Serum Shot smooths skin texture with ... vitamin-rich beet and antioxidant-packed vitamin A to refine pores and help minimize signs of aging. It’s glass skin made easy.” Quick info: 🔺Smell: sort of a clean earthy scent that’s pretty subtle 🔺Texture: thick gel-like serum that’s a pretty pinkish-red 🔺Absorbs quickly 🔺Beets help skin retain moisture and stay soft and smooth 🔺Vitamin A (retinol) works to minimize signs of aging 🔺Gentle enough to use twice daily (I will probably work up to nightly) 🔺 Cost: $20 for 1oz Incorporating it into my routine: -Right now, I use this serum 2x a week at night -I pair it with Glossier. - Super Bounce Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 Serumfor added hydration and top it off with a generous layer of YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi -They recommend pairing it with Sweet CHEF - Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shotfor ‘glass skin’ and I will probably try this now that I’ve had a chance to ease the beet serum in -I’m addition to my face, I pat this onto my neck on the nights I’m using it because I’ve started laying more attention to aging and wrinkles there -for the first several weeks I had some dryness and flaking for a day or two after each use, but have not had any recently -I have not had purging while using this The Results: Ok, I know retinol takes a while to fully work it’s magic, but this is one of the few products I’ve used where I saw a change almost immediately! It evens out my skin tone dramatically, especially on my cheeks - less redness and general unevenness and my skin is soft. After the first several uses, I am not seeing the dryness anymore and this leaves my skin hydrated and soft. My pores look a little smaller and I am so excited to continue using this serum and watch the continued improvements! My verdict: YES!! I love this serum and am so glad I started using it. It’s cheap, gentle, and works well! I highly recommend it! Do you use retinol? What’s your favorite retinol product?

Favorite All Around Moisturizer 💦
The product that started it all - 𝔸𝕕𝕒𝕡𝕥𝕠𝕘𝕖𝕟 𝔻𝕖𝕖𝕡 𝕄𝕠𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕖 ℂ𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕞 was the first product that I tried & fell in love with from Youth to the People 💚🌱 Formulated with jojoba, squalane & shea butter, as well as peptides & plant extracts, this moisturizer focuses on providing hydration & nourishment for dry, irritated, & sensitive skin. It has a creamy, rich texture, but is lightweight on the skin & seeps into the skin with little effort, and doesn’t clog your pores. I typically prefer gel textured moisturizers for the most part, but I just love how light this moisturizer is and how it doesn’t sit on the skin or leave a greasy film. It is free of fragrance with no added scent; just smells natural & earthy due to the ingredients incorporated in the formula, but certainly nothing you’d notice while applying. You get a generous 2 oz of product in the full size recyclable jar, and not a lot of product is needed, so it will last you quite awhile. I’ve used this moisturizer in my daytime and nighttime routine, and it’s fantastic either way! 𝒯𝒾𝓅 - If you have a skincare fridge, this is definitely a moisturizer worth storing inside as it feels even more soothing when applying chilled. And if you use this as a nighttime moisturizer, I also recommend adding 2-3 drops of the Superberry Hydrate + Glow Oil for an extra boost of hydration & beautiful natural glow finish! 🌟 Have you tried this moisturizer before? Do you love it too? 💚 YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi

My January 2021 empties
Looks like I emptied many of the cleansing products. Star of the month goes to: Bronze - BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream likely to repurchase when finished other eye cream inventories. This is somewhat rich eye cream and glide on easily. Silver - FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm got silver just because it has attracted everyone’s attention. I still have one big jar to go then will try something else after. Gold - DHC - DHC Lip Cream this is something I can’t live without and will never trade for anything else. Will definitely keep repurchasing!

Sweet Chef Beet + Vitamin A Serum Shot
Sweet CHEF - Beet + Vitamin A Serum Shot ✨I loved the other Sweet Chef serums so much, I had to try this one too! This serum promises to use beet to refine pores and smooth rough skin, while using vitamin A to help minimize signs of aging. 👉🏻I am in my early twenties, so I do not have any age spots. I do however have large pores. I have been using this serum 2-3 times a week both AM and PM, and I can definitely notice a difference in the size of my pores. 💵This serum is $19.99 at Target. I highly recommend all Sweet Chef serums!!! All products that I have tried from them work very well, and I love that all of their products are under $20. I also love that all of their products use veggies🥬 to naturally help your skin.

Beginners Guide to Vitamin A 🍩💕
I feel like this is a great serum if you’re looking by to try out serums, and specifically vitamin A! This serum is brought to us by Sweet Chef, Glow Recipe’s sister brand! This serum contains low levels of retinol which allow you to experience the incredible benefits of this skin saving ingredient! I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who uses retinol products already or is well versed in serums. Some of the cons of this product for more advanced skin care users: non-preserving packaging low retinol concentration excess fragrances fungal acne inducing ingredients With such a low price point I wasn’t expecting amazing results, but it’s pretty good.

Vitamin C on a Budget 💸☀️
So as mentioned in my last post, Sweet Chef is the sister company of Glow Recipe. You get some great formulas, for a pretty great price! This was one of the first vitamin C serums I tried a few years back.. and honestly it was pretty good! Much like the vitamin A serum I just reviewed in a previous post, this is a great serum for makeup and skincare beginners! Being able to start a good routine with some low cost products.. honestly is such a great start! This is not a product I would recommend to anyone who is well versed in the world of skincare.. I don’t think you’ll be too happy with this product. I went through the product quick, using it every morning. This is good considering it doesn’t have an airtight seal and the glass is clear.. causing the product to go bad pretty quickly.

Sweet Chef Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shot
Sweet CHEF - Ginger + Vitamin C Serum Shot I absolutely LOVE this serum!!! I was using HONEST - Vitamin C Radiance Serum and I was not noticing an improvement in my skin as much as I would’ve liked to. I switched to using this product in the AM so I can still use my retinol at night. It makes my skin feel so smooth and look bright. 👉🏻This serum has anti-inflammatory ginger to help neutralize environmental aggressors and revives dull skin with antioxidant rich vitamin C. I highly recommend this product to anyone who struggles with dark spots or keeping your skin radiant!! Like any serum from Sweet Chef, it lives up to it’s expectations. 💵This serum is $19.99 at Target.

fave hydrating serum (day 6)
I own the Glossier. - Super Bounce Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 Serumbut I don't use it that often and I tend to primarily use moisturizers for hydration. I mean I might start using it again because now the air is drier, but I don't necessarily have a favorite hydrating serum. This Glossier one isn't that bad, I just don't reach for it. I'd rather have one product that moisturizes well than have to use a serum for extra hydration to make up for the moisturizer. Also I have oily and dry combo skin so only some of my face gets dry, and typically this only happens during the winter months, but I haven't had to use this yet this fall/winter.

3 Tips for glowing skin at 30
This is a raw photo blemishes and all. #1 Don’t hate on your aging skin Your skin can hear you complaining about it. 😉 The more you care for your skin, the more you’ll see a difference in your complexion. Give it the good stuff and it will glow back in return. I use a face oil mixed with a tinted moisturizer and it really helps hydrate the skin as well as protect my face with antioxidants for preventing sun damage (the #1 culprit for aging skin) #2 Spend more time cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, etc Sometimes we treat our face like brushing our teeth and we just get it done without really massaging the product into the skin. You should be cleansing for 5 minutes (!!!!) Yesss that seems like a long time but this is how the products actually work. Take more time massaging your moisturizer in at the end and stimulating the collagen in your face. Some people use jade rollers and other tools but if you don’t have those then use your fingers 🤗 #3 Use a hyaluronic serumGlossier. - Super Bounce Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 Serum This is a game changer! This serum is affordable and a good place to start if you’re new to hyaluronic acid. It’s basically 1000% water and the most hydrating thing you can put on your face. I would say you visibly see a difference within 30 days and you just feel the hydration. It’s my favorite part of the day because it feels sooo good ☺️ What do you do to keep your skin glowing as you age? What’s your secret?

My quick (aka lazy) AM routine ☀️
My quick (aka lazy) AM routine ☀️
This is a super curated, quick skincare routine I’ve been doing lately. After years of testing different products I think I finally have a clear idea of my skin truly thrives on. I have combination, dehydrated skin and I tend to get uneven texture on my cheeks. I’ve found a more minimal approach with the amount of products I use seems to work best for me, these are the products I’m using: COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence This is my favorite essence ever, it leaves my skin looking plump and hydrated, I use this day and night and it seriously lasts forever. CosRx can do no wrong. I have a more detailed review already posted on my feed! PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum I seriously cant recommend this enough, niacinamide is one of my favorite ingredients in skincare and I love this because it’s so good to treat unwanted texture. I kid you not, I noticed a difference in my skin texture and tone in like a week. Its a bit pricey but I would definitely repurchase. GOOD MOLECULES - Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer WOW. This is a new favorite, I absolutely adore this moisturizer! It’s so good, it has many skin loving ingredients and it blurs the appearance of pores but it’s not heavy at all. My makeup wears beautifully over it and it’s only $14! Gifted, but all opinions are my own. SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil I just started using this oil again and I have to say I have a new found love for it, I’m not sure if it’s the mix of this and the Good Molecules primer moisturizer but it is seriously beautiful. It brightens my complexion almost instantly! It’s a great product but a bit pricey so maybe I’ll look for a dupe! And of course I seal it all in with a generous dose of SPF, I’ll make a post of my favorites soon!

SUNDAY RILEY-C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil
some products from the inkey l
some products from the inkey list ⭐️ Beta-hydroxy acid: BHA’s are unique because they can penetrate the dirt and oil in our pores and effectively get rid of it, making them the only thing that can reduce the appearance of pores! The most well-known BHA is salicylic acid, and this formulation contains 2%. It also contains a zinc salt compound that reduces sebum buildup and hyaluronic acid to give moisture! I like using this every night, sometimes every other, and I have actually noticed a big difference in the appearance of my pores! The texture is a runny gel which is a little weird but works out well. It’s my first run-in with salicylic acid, and I give it a 9/10 (points deducted because of packaging- the flip cap top makes it easy to spill too much out 😬)⁣ ⭐️ Multi-Biotic moisturizer: contains pro-, pre-, and post-biotics from yogurtene to give your skin all the benefits of yogurt! It also contains brightenyl and squalane to even skin tone and hydrate. Its a lightweight cream and my only beef with it is that it smells just like a burnt english muffin to me. It seriously smells awful, but thankfully the scent goes away once its applied 😅 I have noticed a slight brightening/evening of my skin tone, but I’m not sure if I can attribute it to this cream or my vit C ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ overall this gets a 7/10⁣ ⭐️ Kaolin clay mask: contains kaolin and smectite clay to remove impurities, absorb excess oil, and unclog pores. The kaolin clay in this mask is gentle, so it can be used once or twice a week without irritating or drying out the skin! I haven’t used it yet, so I won’t rate it.⁣

At first I was only going to buy the Glass Skin serum due to people hyping it up so much, so I wanted to give it a try! But then after reading more on the Matcha pudding cream & Luxe Oil I decided why not get all three. I’ve been using them for the past few months and I can honestly say I don’t regret my decision. . . The Matcha Pudding Moisturizer 🍵🍵🍵🍵is actually something I fell in love with, it’s so calming and soothing, and absorbs quickly on to the skin. And you can’t go wrong with Niacinamide 🏆 PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum PEACH & LILY - Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream PEACH & LILY - Pure Beam Luxe Oil

{Skincare} Peach & Lily Glass Skin Serum
{What is it?} A skin refining serum formulated to minimize pores, hydrate skin, firm skin, and minimize inflammation. It’s formulated with peach extract, niacinamide, Asian Mountain yam, peptides & hyaluronic acid to hydrate, calm, brighten & firm. Your skin will be looking glass like. This serum won 2019 Best of K-Beauty for its growing popularity and real results! {Who is it for?} Everyone! all skin types. {Texture/Consistency?} Lightweight hydrating gel formula, no scent. {My thoughts?} I love this stuff!! I’ve been using it since last year and I’ve grown to love it so much I’ve added it into my makeup kit! As a makeup artist I think it’s all about the base! This is a great base under a moisturizer and under foundation, if my clients skin is dry or normal to combo I use this and the results are great. Their skin looks so hydrated but not oily and their skin looks smooth! It really hydrated their skin & mine. I personally love the texture of this, it’s such a light gel it melts right into the skin and doesn’t get funky under makeup. Even without makeup my skin looks so glossy and radiant! My smile lines have slightly faded I feel. It says no scent but I feel it has a light scent and I like it. Second product of K beauty I have tried , and was impressed. {Would I recommend?} Yes, It is 1.35oz for $39USD and a little bit goes a long way. If I personally use it it lasts me a good 6-9 months, for my makeup kit it lasts about 4-5! It’s a good investment for your skin or your clients! It’s defiantly worth the price PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum

This is my all-time, holy grail, ride or die serum...and I’m out 😭 Here’s a brief overview of my skin before I get into the product review: My skin is not problematic; I get a breakout during ‘that time’ of the month and I have a wee bit of redness in my cheek area. My skin is however incredibly, painfully dry. I can’t use anything that isn’t suitable for dry skin bc, if I do, my skin will feel like it going to crack. The Glass Skin Refining Serum ($39) created by Peach and Lily, is serum that I use every 👏🏻 single 👏🏻 day. I’m seriously bummed that I cannot go out an repurchase this atm. The cocktail of ingredients is amazing for people with incredibly dry skin - it is good for all skin types though. ✨ This serum has a hyaluronic acid complex that draws in hydration and deeply hydrates every single layer of my skin by using long-chain, medium-chain, and short chain hyaluronic acid. ✨ Peach and Lily included niacinamide; an ingredient used to reduce inflammation in the skin. Niacinamide, because it reduces inflammation, is a really amazing ingredient for people with ance-prone skin It’s also and antioxidant, so it’s also a wonderful anti-aging ingredient. When I use this product, my skin glows brighter and my skin feels bouncier! My skin drinks it up! I am constantly trying new skincare products, and I very rarely repurchase unless I am absolutely obsessed. This will be one of the first things purchase once quarantine lifts!

Skincare Line-up: Combo Skin Nighttime🌜(simple)
When my skin is already looking and feeling pretty good, I like to simplify my routine a little just to not over compromise my skin barrier. This routine really helps me nourish, treat and target any skin issues without layering too many products. Background info: My skin is combination and acne-prone. It’s also pretty tough so I don’t get irritation from “harsher” actives and ingredients! SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Gel My go-to Hyaluronic Acid serum! It’s my favorite hydrating product because the Hyaluronic Acid seriously plumps up the skin and brings hydration to the surface of the skin. I apply a few drops of this on my palms and press into the skin. SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.5 Retinol Night Cream Retinol! This night cream contains 0.5% pure retinol which helps to promote cell turnover, improves the appearance of lines, wrinkles, discoloration and pores, and reduces breakouts! This particular cream is formulated with a Soothing Complex that calms the skin with Bisabolol and Boswellia Serrata Extract which soothes and comforts the skin. I apply two pea-size amounts on my finger tips, rub them together and press into my skin (focusing on problem areas). THE inkey LIST - Brighten-i Eye Cream Eye cream is one of those things that I have a love/hate relationship with. It’s undecided if I really see a difference as technically my serums and moisturizers should do the same thing- but I recently started using this one from the Inkey List that has brightening properties. I haven’t seen much brightening yet but it has a very lightweight, hydrating formula that I like. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi To lock in all the active ingredients in my toners and serums, I love this cream from Youth To The People because it feels thick and nourishing. The key ingredients in this cream include Squalane, Ashwagandha, and Fermented Reishi which together helps boost skin hydration, minimizes risk of clogged pores, reduces visible signs of fatigue and detoxifies and combats signs of aging. THE inkey LIST - Rosehip Oil Rosehip Oil is one of the most nourishing antioxidant oils. This 100% pure rosehip oil helps to promote softer, smoother skin and the fatty acids help to nourish. I use this as my last step to seal in all my products because it’s so emollient. It always leaves my skin GLOWING✨
